What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread: Frieda (hopefully)? Holly Lee Louise Peachy
And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Hi everyone, Well, I was set to post on something different , but then I turned on the news this evening to the news that Israel was being attacked by Iran. It is now about 10 pm CST here, and it appears that there were not many casualties and that the Israeli defense system held up well. But it’s just all so scary.
What emotions are you dealing with at this moment in history?
I’m still processing, will BBL.

I knew it. I just knew Iran would do it. I feel sick to my stomach.
I did get an email from my shul, as well as one from the Jewish Journal. Then I found myself scrubbing angrily during our Passover cleaning tonight. I feel a lot of things all at the same time.
We can't, we must not lose hope. That's where I am right now.

I just checked email; nothing dated yesterday or so far this morning (it's not even 6am here) about the Iran drones. A friend called me yesterday afternoon (she lives in New Jersey) to make sure I knew about the drones (I hadn't heard yet; was busy finishing my lesson plan for today). After all the other mishegoss in the Middle East since October 7, it seems to me this is just one more occurrence on top of everything else that's been going on. I'm glad the US warned Iran in advance and that the US was there, already prepared for whatever mishegoss was going to happen. This morning's news says the US already succeeded in turning away some of the drones.
Just plain YUCK and more yuck. Maybe I'll feel differently when there's more time for all of it to sink in.

War never brings peace. More war will not bring peace. Israel is no safer after destroying Gaza. Palestinians are no safer now. No one is safer, more are killed, and the hostages left are most likely dead. So what does this all do? Until and unless someone gets everyone at the same table and locks the doors so they cannot get out, and they hammer out an agreement that allows everyone to live in peace, this horror will continue. Just my 2 cents. No one wins in a war.

My personal big news for today is that I am almost finished with my refrigerator. I did the freezer, the door and the hardest for me took out the veggie drawers, etc. I still have some upper shelves to do but those are easy.
Going to a Neshama Carlbach concert tonight - a treat at the end of the day.
