What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread: Frieda (hopefully)? Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy
And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

I don’t know exactly how it works with a WLJ but I do know that you have to be ready and committed for it to work. Something happened and it clicked in for me. I went back to IF. My plan was to do 16:8 like I did last time. It was transforming. I very soon started extending my fasting time. It actually became exciting for me. I have an app that counts down the time. It shows anabolic phase, then catabolic phase and then fat burning phase of each fast. When I reach that stage (which comes after 12 hours) I am so motivated to go longer. I also am very conscious of my calories and the quality of my food. Somehow I lost 8 pounds in 3-1/2 weeks. I’m so aware of how fragile the WLJ can be. I have a long way to go. I need to continue to respect my effort and the journey.
Happy Mother’s Day everyone. I look forward to hearing your plans for the day.
PS Do we have a zoom chat scheduled?

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel. Happy Mothers Day!! DS made me a card, and DH is going to cook an amazing lunch of baked salmon, potatoes and vegetables. louise, Our next zoom chat will be on the 26th, according to my calendar. Re today's topic: I have some bad news, unfortunately. BC/BS, as of the 15th, will no longer be supporting mail order weight-loss meds. DH and I can not afford to pay full price for my Wegovy. Tomorrow I am going to call my doctor and BC/BS to find out more information and hopefully get some answers and suggestions. I will not let this ruin my day today, although I was freaking out last night when I found out. I finally found something that has been helping me lose weight, and I don't want to stop taking it. I'll hear what my doctor and BC/BS have to say, and hopefully will get some good news. Actually, one good thing is that my latest order is just slipping under the wire, and I should get another 3-months supply this week. Hope everyone has a peaceful day, Lee

Happy Mother’s Day to the moms!
Today we are going to my daughter’s house; she is hosting us and her in-laws for lunch. I am very much looking forward to this.
Louise, I am thrilled to hear of your recent success! I am also in a good place weight-wise. I am down 12.5 lbs since the beginning of the year. What I’m doing is sort of my own version of IF. I don’t eat breakfast, and have a light brunch. I don’t eat until dinner. At dinner, I eat a “reasonable” dinner and generally I have a glass of wine, sometimes 2. I don’t eat after dinner. Somehow this is working. Slowly, of course.

Good morning, shavua tov, and happy Mother's Day!
Louise, congrats on your progress, this is great news! Lee, a pox on them for that decision. Does it only apply to mail-order meds? That is, will they cover it if you pick it up in person at a pharmacy? I'm glad you've got a good supply for the moment, at least. Go get 'em, tiger! And Lynne, good for you for your WLJ progress as well. It sounds like you've got a good plan in place for yourself.
I've been doing much better with my WLJ lately too, and I really appreciate everyone's encouragement. It definitely helps. Getting back to the gym has done a lot too, because I feel better when I'm going regularly, mentally as well as physically. Good vibes to all of us!
Today we're getting take-out for lunch from my favorite Mexican restaurant. We have a video chat with the kids in about ten minutes, so that will be the best part of the day. I'll probably do my dance DVD at home this afternoon (to help work off the Mexican food), but other than that, I'm planning on loafing. I have a stack of books on my desk that have been waiting for me to read them, and a nap sounds like a good idea too.
Everyone have a wonderful day!

Louise, bravo on the "sticking to it" decision! Bravo on the weight loss! (Also bravo to you, Lee, for your continued weight loss!) Both of you, please continue to keep the rest of us updated!
Easy day planned for today. I wasn't expecting a Happy Mother's Day call (or text or email) from DS (he has his own mishegoss going on) but I was surprised by Happy Mother's Day texts from Beryl and another old friend (whom I stopped interacting with when I found out she was a Trump supporter the first time around). I haven't checked my email since late Friday afternoon, so I have no idea what's waiting for me there.
DH and I found Hudson and Rex, a mystery show based in Newfoundland. We've been recording it and there was recently a marathon, so we've been watching the episodes from before we originally found it. I'm really interested in the development of the main characters, which is often overlooked in many mystery series.
