What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread: Frieda (hopefully)? Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy
And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Hi everyone,
It occurred to me last week, that for the first time since I have been participating in this thread (and it has now been a LONG time!), all of us seem to be in a relatively good place with our eating. Holly, as usual , is just fine. Lee is doing well with the weight loss med, and is working on her ability to stay on it. Peachy, Louise and I have had some recent successes. Just saying, this is a unique moment!
What’s your plan for the week food wise? Any challenges coming up? Any interesting meals to look forward to ?

You are right we do all seem to be in a good place. I am working at a street fair today (synagogue table) and there will be lots of delcious food that I would probably be better off without. Am giving some thought to whether I should plan for a splurge. I'm thinking probably not but I do need a plan. Will probab;ly decide when I get there and see what's available; can then make it up at dinner. Beyod that I do well with some packages of kosher turkey in my fridge/freezer. Not sold nearby so from time to time I need to get to a kosher market and buy a bunch for the freezer. I am also enjoying some chopped walnuts added to oatmeal, pancakes, whatever. I have these leftover from Passover.
My niece will be stopping over at my apartment in a couple of weeks on her way back from the UK. Hopefully this will give me the impetus I need to tidy up my apartment. I am drowning (as usual) in papers and clothing in too many sizes. I have a blow up bed I have never used and just ordered sheets for it.

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel.
Re today's topic: Amazingly enough, I am continuing to do well with my WLJ; I'm down 67 lbs. from my top weight a few years ago, including just over 30 lbs. with the Ozempic and now Wegovy. I was worried that I hadn't been injecting the Wegovy correctly, but checked the handouts more carefully, and I am. I'm down 2 lbs. this past week, woo hoo!
As for food, we will be having chicken divan for lunch, and curried chicken salad with the leftover chicken later this week. I suggested that DH buy lamb at the store this morning, so hopefully he will get some (he and DS are out shopping now). Our other meal plans include eating when we are hungry, with snacks when desired, and keeping in mind the amounts that we've had to gauge our intake in upcoming meals/snacks. I've noticed that DS and I have been eating lighter breakfasts (Cheerios, shredded wheat or corn flakes, with fruit and coffee), heavier lunches, and lighter dinners. Yogurt for snacks has been very helpful.
I can't think of any food-related challenges coming up soon, except for DS's birthday in June. We always get a chocolate raspberry cake from Whole Foods.
Have a peaceful rest of the day, Lee

First, I just went back to the Friday/Shabbat thread and commented on Louise's final post there. I found it moving. Just in case you haven't gone back to check it, you may want to as well.
Yes, I've been lucky in the weight department. I had a few indulgences recently and went up a pound in a day (or thereabouts) but was able to return to my "normal" within a short time. Yesterday I didn't overindulge as much as I could have, but Friday night is another story. When my congregation doesn't have erev Shabbat services, members are encouraged to host Shabbat dinners. Dh and I went to the home of one of my students. I knew the mother (although not all that well) and because we arrived about 15 minutes early (and were the first, other than her mother, of the guests), I helped, both in the kitchen and setting the table (for 15!). Someone brought chocolate-covered halva for dessert; I definitely overdid that one dessert...
DH's birthday is in June, the same day we leave for DGS's college graduation. We'll be in Oregon for a full week (there's one airline that flies nonstop from San Diego to Medford, OR (not far from where DS and DDIL live) and back one day a week and it happens to be considerably less expensive than the other airlines). I'll have practically no say over what's served for that week. I am usually pretty good at maneuvering my way around other people's cooking; I'll give it my best shot.
Gotta run. Didn't realize how late it is. I have 45 minutes to shower, dress, make and eat breakfast and get out of here to go pick up my carpool buddy to get to Sunday school!

Good morning everyone, and shavua tov! We haven't made menus yet for the week, but we usually have salmon on Sunday nights, and we do already have the salmon, so we'll go ahead with that. I like to have green salad with it, with just a little ranch dressing, and we'll have some kind of potatoes. DH and DS33 will make some kind of veggies that I don't like, so we'll all be happy.
No particular challenges in the food department this week, but I did commit to doing more stretching and balance exercises. On my work calendar, I put "10-minute stretch" at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. every day. I'm entitled to two 15-minute breaks, so I figured scheduling these during work hours would maximize the time and opportunity.
