What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread: Frieda (hopefully)? Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy
And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Hi everyone, I found the following short poem , which resonated with me:
NATURAL PRAYERS
A new washed morning air Combs my gray muzzle. I was dog tired, but now A warm sunlight Unwinds tendons and Taut nerves .
Sunday has its own natural prayers, Shabbat heals wounds We had never thought to mend.
Elsewhere there is darkness and death , Yet in this one golden hour I stand with all men of goodwill ,
Old men who know how to pray On behalf of the hopeful young.

Ah - would like to stand in some of the warm sunlight today!
In a week my niece will be returning from London and will be staying with me for one or 2 nights. I have some serious motivation to tidy up my apartment!

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel. Re today's topic: Thanks for the poem, gazelle18, it's been a good week. I have good news! DH and I applied for a home equity loan, and it looks like we've been approved! I'm expecting a call later this morning to confirm everything; our credit union rep (whom I spoke with this morning) said she thinks everything is okay. We need to fix our roof, and do several other things, and now it looks like we'll be able to. Whew, what a relief. Hope everyone has a peaceful day, and please remember what Memorial Day weekend is all about, Lee

Good morning everyone! Thanks for a great week, Lynne, and thank you for sharing that poem. I had to read it twice before it sank in -- the title alone grabbed me.
Today is my WI day, and somehow I gained a pound. I was upset for about five minutes, then said eh, whatamIgonnado. Then I got dressed and went to the gym, as is my Friday morning routine. The only thing I can do is move forward -- giving up is simply not an option.
I have a one-on-one with my boss shortly, so I'm going to go prepare for that. If I don't get back here, everyone have a great weekend, I'll see you on Sunday! Shabbat shalom!

I liked the poem too, Lynne. Thanks for finding it!
Good week! I've been ill for almost 24 hours. It feels like I can't stay awake. And I'm blowing my nose every few minutes. I don't like it.
Gut Shabbes / Shabbat Shalom, all!
