Good morning!
It’s somewhat cooler here today, but sunny.
Coffee with friends this morning, then some yard work to take advantage of the cooler weather. I may walk to the book store to get the great grandkids books for their summer reading lists. Each grade level has a theme- PreK is the 5 senses and 3rd grade is the Sea. DGGD is an avid reader, so I will get a couple fro her list. Her one request is “No squid”! There are a couple of titles with squid themes so I will avoid those. A truck of seafood (squid) overturned on the highway in RI and her mother was in the ensuing traffic. Apparently the highway was covered and there was no way around them so when the road was cleared enough the drivers had to go through. Apparently the smell persisted even after several car washes! I can only imagine!
I hope everyone has a peaceful day. Lynn

Good morning everyone!
Maryenne, have a good tutoring session. What happened with your student who was taking her GED not long ago?
Lynn, getting your grands books from their summer reading lists is a great idea. So sorry that happened with their car and the squid. I can imagine that must have smelled horrible.
Waving to Esther!
It's already very humid here this morning. I've watered my potted plants outside as it's going to be a hot day as usual. Nick has a regular doctor's check-up this morning, and then he wants to go out for lunch afterwards.
My plan for the day is to do chores around the house as well as go walk. I am really enjoying the air conditioned walking track, and it's definitely helping my blood sugar numbers. My knee is doing much better too now with the steroid--not normal, but I can deal with discomfort as long as it's not actual pain. So fingers crossed these injections will continue to do their job, and let me avoid surgery.
I want to get my menus written out for the "kids" visit so I can put together my grocery list although I probably won't do the shopping until Monday or Tuesday. Also, the queen sized air mattress we ordered to turn my office into a guest room for TX DGD was delivered last night, so I want to see how that is going to work out today. I wouldn't want any nasty surprises at the last minute. The DGD who lives here wants to stay too so they'll need to share the air mattress. They're only about 6 months apart in age so even though they don't see each other often they have a lot of fun together when they do. We have four bedrooms, but I made the smallest one into my office thus the need for the air mattress.
Fingers crossed that our 8 year old autistic grandson who lives in Nashville will be able to adjust so that his dad can enjoy the time with his brother and family. Tyler really struggles when he gets outside his comfort zone. He's spent weekends here before with his dad, but never with so many people around before.
Have a lovely day and stay cool!

Hi again!
I'm back from tutoring. Joyce, she took the Social Studies section and didn't pass. We're working on the language arts right now. I had a new student in my afternoon class, a man from Turkey. He'll be here for six months and really wants to boost his English so he can move up in his job back home.
Lynn, our library sells children's books 3 for a dollar, so I found three for Thomas today.
We'll have leftovers for supper tonight...DH is outside trying to fix something. LOL

maryenne , I am sorry that your student didn’t pass that part of the exam. Like Joyce said, hopefully she will know what to expect the next time through. I am in awe of the people who come to the US without knowing the language and in many cases- like Nick- not having the same alphabet in their home country.
