What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:
Frieda (hopefully)? Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy
And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel.
Today's topic: Apprehension. Are you worried about anything in particular? How do you plan on coping with it?
For me, I am worried about both my DH's surgery/recovery period, and the state of the world, especially the USA.
DH is getting good medical care, and DS and I will do our best to take care of him when he gets home, so those are reliefs. However, there's a lot to think about, and I am praying for him.
As for the state of the world, especially the USA, I don't want to get deeply into politics, but I fear that it is a mess, especially now. I am praying for things to improve.
Other than prayer, my comfort is in preparation. DS and I have talked in detail about helping DH, and I think we can handle the situation. As for healing the world, we will continue to support the Democratic Party however we can. I'm hoping we will be able to phone bank soon, and that DS will canvass door to door once this heat wave is over and DH can deal with his being away for a few hours.
Thank you everyone for your support!! Have a peaceful day, Lee

Will be thinking of you and DH, Lee. As for our country - at least Biden was completely right on last night as comforter in chief. I don't plan to actually watch the convention but somehow I suspect I will have it on in the background - kind of like rubbernecking. My apprehension for our cou ntry is , of course, very high.

After my shower this morning, I went out to the kitchen table to find DH with his head in his hands. No, he didn't have a headache and hadn't caught my cold, thank God; he was just so distraught over the state of world affairs that he felt overcome. So I reminded him that we can only do what we can do, and we have to let go of the rest. "Feel it for a few minutes, then let it go." We remind each other of this a lot. That's how we get through things sometimes -- courage to keep going even when you're discouraged.
Lee, I'm thinking of you and your family today and sending healing vibes your direction. Let us know how DH is doing, and how his spirits are. I bet he'll be up and around before you know it, and he'll be so glad this is behind him. He's lucky to have you and DS for help, love and support.
I feel better today but not great. I'm back to work, but I'll be taking a lot of rest breaks. I'm drinking gallons of water and some green tea too. DD35 flies in later this week for the CHOC Walk on Sunday at Disneyland, and I want to be over this dumb cold before she gets here. :+)

The state of the world is downright scary, AND I have no control over what happens out there. I can only try to protect myself and my family, and let the rest go. I very often feel like Peachy’s DH. But I have to let it go, because I can’t control or effect it.

Me too; the state of the USA and the state of the world are both scary and I'm only one person; how much can I do about it? Very little, but I live my life, and when with people, I inquire what they think can be done about the state of the USA and the state of the world. So far, I've gleaned very little...
