What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:
Frieda (hopefully)? Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy
And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel.
Today's topic: Dealing with reality.
How come things never happen just the way we think they're going to? Lest you worry, all is going well over here. DH slept fine last night, and woke up in time to have breakfast with DS and me this morning. DS and I got up early as usual on Wednesdays (4AM) to get him ready for work. Things were a little complicated but doable. Fortunately, DS's ride came about ten minutes later than usual, so he had time to help DH and also get ready, although he didn't have time for his coffee (I drank it instead).
Right now, I am waiting for a plumber to call me back. We need him to work on the riser for DH's toilet seat, the kitchen faucet (again), and as long as he's here, to tighten up my toilet seat. It would be great if he could come over this afternoon, but I won't hold my breath.
I also have been trying to reach our local Walmart, but so far they're not answering their phone. DS wants tennis balls for his walker; something I've resisted for mine, but since he wants them DS and I will pick them up, after DS gets home from work.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that there are a lot of details involved in taking care of a person. DS is doing wonderfully, and I am so proud of him.
BTW, DH did not take my advice about using a travel cup for his coffee, and spilled it twice. Maybe he will change his mind.
Anyway, I appreciate your listening to me, and your support!! I'll check in later. Have a peaceful day, Lee

It sure sounds like you're coping well with this new situation. Good for you!
Sometimes I deal with reality in a very "one step at a time" manner. Sometimes I ignore the reality (which only sometimes gets me into trouble). Right now I'm dealing with two completely unrelated things; one of which I've been putting off for months, and one which I'm dealing with daily.
The second one has to do with DH. I'm waiting for his August appointment about cognitive testing. The best thing I can do in the meantime is practice patience which is ridiculously difficult for me...

Good morning everyone! I'm off today, just got back from the dentist. Teeth look good, no cavities or anything, and the periodontist is very happy about my gums - they've done extremely well since he did surgery on them two years ago. I'm going out for lunch with DH and DS33, then taking DS33 to his volunteer time at a local dog & cat rescue. I think this afternoon I will watch a movie and then take a nap.
About dealing with reality, I tend to look at it in reverse - I'm amazed by how many things actually DO go the way they're supposed to. But I get it, we're all trying to get things done and make things happen, and it's frustrating when monkey wrenches keep getting thrown into the works. I guess I just have the attitude that all we can do is keep on trying. Sometimes we need to have a tantrum or a meltdown, then we still have to get back up and give it another whirl.
