What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:
Frieda (hopefully) Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy
And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel.
Sorry to be late this morning. I slept in, and then we had a lot going on.
Today's topic: How's life treating you these days?
For me, as I said yesterday and earlier, I am doing the best I can in a difficult situation. I keep telling myself that I can work on strength, patience and kindness. It helps to remind myself.
DS and I need to go to the store and pick up ice for DH. We'll be leaving in a little while.
I hope everyone has a peaceful day, Lee

Good morning and happy Friday! I feel much better from my cold now, but it's still hanging on somewhat, to the point that I don't feel up to going back to the gym yet. I'm OK with that though; I know I have to take care of my body. Speaking of (not) taking care of my body, my birthday was this week, and I did overeat, but I didn't go as completely bananas as I have for previous birthdays. I gained two-tenths of a pound, and I'm fine with that. I'm back on track and will just keep going.
Other than that, life is treating me pretty well these days. I still have a job, the air conditioning works, and I have lots of iced tea. Even better, I'll see DD35 briefly tomorrow, and my closest sister is flying in next weekend to house-sit for a mutual friend for three weeks.
Everyone stay cool and hydrated! Shabbat shalom!

Good question , Lee.
On one hand, my DH is facing some health challenges which we will need to be dealing with, and my DS is currently in a bad place and dumping on us. On the other hand, my health is great, my grandkids are wonderful, and we are wrapping up a heavenly vacation in the mountains. Sometimes it is hard to focus on the good stuff . I tend to dwell in the land of anxiety, although realistically speaking, I am quite fortunate and I know it in my brain.

I've let go of the feeling of not having enough income. We're doing fine with the current state of the family's affairs. There's a line I learned in French class way back in high school about "this [is] the best of all possible worlds" (Candide by Voltaire). Sometimes my life feels that way; not that this is the best of all possible worlds (it clearly isn't) but my life seems to be the best given the state of my situation.
Gut Shabbes and Shabbat shalom, all.
