What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread: Frieda (hopefully) Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy
And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Hi all, Has anyone other than me been following the Olympics? Did anyone else see the American women’s team earn gold , and the men’s team bronze, the night before? Thoughts? I’ll be back with my thoughts in the morning

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel.
Re today's topic: YES! DS and I have been watching the Olympic gymnastics, both the women and the men. They are all SO amazing. Speaking as someone who could never even climb a rope, I am astonished at their strength, flexibility, and beauty (male and female). I love watching them. Today, DS and I will be watching the last men's events, and tomorrow, the women's. We are both really looking forward to this.
Re the opening ceremonies: We didn't watch them this year. I didn't think watching a bunch of crowded boats would be that interesting. I still remember the year Gloria Estefan got thousands of people singing and dancing; that was the best ever. That may have been at the closing ceremonies, sometime in the 1990's. It was outstanding.
I've caught bits and pieces of other events, but haven't cared enough to follow them like I have with the gymnastics. The skateboarding was pretty interesting though.
Have a peaceful day, Lee

I haven't been watching, but I plan to go to YouTube and catch up on some. I especially enjoy watching gymnastics, both men and women.

As you know, I've been at NewCAJE from around 9am to at least 4, sometimes 6pm. Yesterday was the final day and although it was scheduled to end at 3, the last event ended early, so we left a little earlier than originally planned.
I attended quite a few workshops. I learned WAY more than I'd expected. I'm so inspired! (more about this some other time)
So, no, I haven't been watching the Olympics. I've never been interested in watching the Olympics. I think originally it was because I'm not all that interested in athletic events of any kind. I recognize that ice skating and gymnastics aren't exactly in the same category as skiing and soccer, but somehow I haven't managed to view even those. When I got home, I was pumped by what I'd gone through and watching other than sometimes relatively mindless was a better choice for me.
I may follow Peachy's idea of going to youtube though... We'll see what today brings.
