What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread: Frieda (hopefully) Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy
And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

I didn't make it back here yesterday; I was already on my way to weekday morning minyan when it started. I don't watch the Olympics, as I think I already said, but I do understand about the sizes that athletes come in. I too am glad that more "shapes" are "acceptable" now than in the past. And although there are laws against all sorts of discrimination, there aren't any that outlaw discrimination against "fat" people. Think that may ever happen?

Sorry, my friends, but I am fresh out of intelligent thoughts, semi or otherwise! I have a crazy busy day, so I will just wish everyone. Good shabbos. Have a restful and peaceful Shabbat!

No worries, Lynne, we can just shmooze. :+) Thanks for an interesting week!
I went to the gym at 5 a.m., but it wasn't open yet (it's supposed to open at 5) - the young man who works the early shift was late. So I waited around for 30 minutes with the other early-morning regulars until a manager showed up to let us in. He waved us all in and said not to bother scanning our membership tags, but I did anyway, because when I complain to the company, I want there to be a record that i was indeed there today.
I considered shortening my cardio to ten minutes, long enough to warm up my muscles, then just doing my weight training, since I'm supposed to be at my desk at 7 a.m., and a thirty-minute delay would louse that up. But I decided my boss would probably understand, and there was nothing all that critical that couldn't wait. So I did my full 41 minutes on the elliptical, then my usual 30-35 minutes on the weight machines. I feel very good about keeping to my workout. I was only 15 minutes late clocking in on my laptop, but that's because I haven't had a shower yet, nor have I had breakfast. I'll catch up on everything though.
It's supposed to get to 98 degrees today, but I don't have to go anywhere until Shabbat dinner at our bffs' house tonight, and we have lots of iced tea. I'm reading Torah tomorrow, as are the other two Tropettes, so it will be great to sit together tomorrow and daven together.
Everyone stay hydrated and cool, and have a wonderful weekend. Shabbat shalom!
