What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:
Frieda (hopefully)? Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy
And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Good morning everyone! One of my sisters was supposed to be visiting for three weeks, but she’s going home early Monday morning instead, after just ten days. We’re picking her up at 5 a.m. to take her to the airport. I love her very much, but she’s been driving me bonkers and zapping all my patience. I’ll tell you all about it later this week, when I’ve calmed down and hopefully regained my perspective. For now, I’d like to do something lighthearted, so let’s play a little food-related “would you rather,” shall we?
Would you rather eat whatever fruits you want for a whole year, but no vegetables, or eat whatever vegetables you want for a whole year, but no fruits? (All other foods would still be available to you.) Why? Is there a particular fruit or vegetable that is abhorrent to you? If so, is it the taste, or maybe the texture, or possibly an association/experience with it that turns you off, or ? And just to be fair, let’s say you get to decide whether tomatoes are fruits or vegetables, to your own advantage. :+)
For me, I’d rather eat fruits and do without vegetables. Although over the years, I’ve learned to like more veggies than when I was younger, I still like more fruits than vegetables. I just don’t like the taste of many vegetables, nor the texture, and I do have negative associations with them, like being forced to eat things I didn’t like or want, or having to clear my plate. And I love bananas so much that I don’t think I could go a whole year without them!
How about you?

Being vegan, vegetables are always my first choice. Love them all, except lima beans and artichoke hearts. I could live without fruit pretty much forever, but vegetables? Never.

I think I'm with Peachy. If I had to choose between fruits and vegetables, I'd have to choose fruits. So far today, I've eaten a mango (sweet and juicy, with the juice running down my chin) and then I put both frozen and fresh blueberries into my smoothie as well as frozen strawberries plus a banana (also a handful of spinach, 1/2 cup of plain non-fat Greek yogurt and almost a tablespoonful of unsweetened cocoa). Way more fruit than veggies... Last night for dessert, I cut up some large fresh blackberries and added some non-fat Greek yogurt, mixed all together, and I can't tell you how much I enjoyed it. (Of course, that was after a large salad of 5 ounces of mixed greens, half a tomato chopped, and a very small avocado, also chopped).

Good afternoon everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel.
Re today's topic: I couldn't choose between fruits and vegetables, as I eat a lot of both of them every day.
Have a peaceful rest of the day (and evening, and night), Lee

Peachy, sorry about your sister. Looking forward to the story. I had a wonderful week away which I may work into a post at some point. Fruits or veggies? I guess I'd go with fruits but I'm a really big fan of especially the starchy vegetables - peas, corn, potatoes, beans, winter squash so it's not an easy choice (and I'm vascillating a little). Don't want anything to do with mushrooms. They creep me out and not interested in dark leafy greens either (no spinach or kale for me thank you).
