What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:
Frieda (hopefully)? Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy
And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Good morning everyone! Thank you again for your support yesterday. It's so wonderful to have you all!
Let's go back to playing Would You Rather, just for fun. Would you rather have a chef who prepares all your food for you, or a dietitian who plans all your food for you? Why?
I actually have gotten pretty darn good at planning all my meals, so I think I'd rather have a chef who does all the preparing (and cleanup too, I hope). I'm an average cook, no special talent or facility with cooking, so I'd just as soon leave it to a pro.
How about you?

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel.
Re today's topic: My DH already prepares most of our food. What I'd really like would be for him to talk with a dietician and then follow his/her advice. DH is a good cook, and has been incorporating more vegetables in our meals since I asked him to and have been losing weight, but I think he could prepare less-caloric versions of what he makes. I am not good at portion control; I generally eat as much as he dishes out.
Have a peaceful day, Lee

I'm not much of a planner. I know what I like and what I'm unwilling to add to my diet. I learned a lot from Weight Watchers. I switched from counting every single thing I put into my mouth and tried the Simply Filling Technique (which changed its name a few times; it started as the "Core" plan before I joined). With Simply Filling, there are things that you don't have to count at all (you do have to eat ONLY until satisfied, so it's not's not an all-you-can-eat-buffet by any stretch of the imagination) and then you have a limited number of points for the week. I have learned to prefer many of the "no count" foods (only one example: skinless boneless chicken or turkey breast) and I learned about how to cook some of the foods I hadn't known how to prepare before (note: DM NEVER fried anything other than eggs! so neither did I). So I'd rather have a chef do the preparation and clean-up, as long as s/he/they stuck to the types of foods that I didn't have to "count."

I get depressed when I have to count everything. I find it boring and limiting. On the other hand , I enjoy cooking. So, I’d rather have a dietician who plans the meals. I have used WW recipes on a number of occasions, and they are pretty good!

I’ll take the chef please. I don’t take the time to cook for myself but would love to wish it and have it appear!
