What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:
Frieda (hopefully)?

And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE. Please pray for Israel.
Today's topic: Fun with kids!
Have you recently done anything fun with kids? I have. Yesterday, my friend Carol, her DD and GD all came over, and with my DS, we picked figs from our trees. DS and I gave GD a little red pail with a yellow handle that used to belong to DS, and she was delighted with it. The pail had been sitting in a closet and was in perfect shape. Then we all chatted and had a lovely time.
GD is five years old, and she is adorable and quite a conversationalist. I enjoyed talking with her very much; she kept showing me how many figs she had picked, It was so much fun.
How about you? Have a peaceful day, Lee

As the grandma of 7, I do get to have a lot of fun with kids. Nowadays, I truly enjoy taking the granddaughters shopping, but only if they have been given a set budget , or else, it can get expensive quickly. But it is so much fun watching and interacting with them while they shop. The boys love to watch sports, and while doing so, they can be really talkative. So, I guess what I’m learning is that of you go along with the things they like to do, they will really open up conversationally.

Sorry, no kid interaction of late but I am enjoying these stories. When I was at my adult summer camp at the retreat place I did buy several Hanukkah gift for my great niece - figured why not buy interesting things when I see them!

I haven't had any kid-time lately, and I need to! I love children and really enjoy spending time with them.

Just Saturday morning, we parked at the JCC (where my congregation meets) in a handicap space (DH has a permit) and there was a man standing between "our" parking space and the next one (there's more space between parking spaces marked for handicap only) and in front of him was a small carriage. As I was walking from the car toward the building, I stopped to look into the carriage. There was a sleeping baby! A little, beautiful, peaceful sleeping baby. I stood there just plain smiling at the sight while DH was getting out of the car (which takes him more time than it takes me). The man saw me smiling at his child and he smiled back at me.
I know that not exactly "interacting" with a child, but it had just happened the previous day.
I didn't see this thread yesterday. I looked for it only once (early in the morning and didn't make it back here during the day. I had meetings and tutoring sessions pretty much from 9am until 4:something... with only one 45 minute break in the middle of the day when I made lunch...
