Welcome to Café Eclectic! The Café is a place to come and share good times and bad times. We are a group of women and have been together since 2002. The Café is open to everybody. Newcomers are always welcome - just jump in and post. Some people are regulars and visit daily, some pop in now and then, some stay to chat, some just listen. All are welcome. Post a personal message if you can. If you can't, that's okay too. You will find lots of support and encouragement here, and hopefully you will enjoy this thread as much as the rest of us.

Good morning, Café friends,
I didn’t see a thread started so I thought I’d jump in. I hope Karen is ok. Diane - if you’re reading, I hope you’re on the mend!
Today is an overcast cool morning with mostly cooler temps throughout the day. Robin may meet up with some of the guys from the B-25 crew for breakfast. I hope so. He sees them so seldom now that our plane resides on the east coast for now. I think they’re going to try to bring it back west, but maybe it’ll be in Idaho or Nevada. I don’t think anything is set in stone yet.
Thomas took off for Labor Day so I won’t have my weight training this morning. I think I’ll dig out my dumbbells and do a 5x5 exercise routine today just to tell my muscles they are still required to put forth an effort, ha! That and walking. Should be a pleasant day for that.
Tracy is getting ready to leave. She has to stop in at work and get the drugs ready for the depts. that may be needing them while she’s gone…surgery and ER. Then she will head to the airport. Her flight is scheduled for 2:00. She is going to the concert by herself - she always does, even when she went to Ireland in 1995. She’s my very independent kid who really prefers to be alone and not have to take into account another person’s choice of things to do and see. That’s, no doubt, why she’s still single. Jared is her opposite - he is very social and his circle of friends is large.
Janet - I’m only wearing this CGM for the information. I do have diabetes in my family and wish to keep tabs on my health, though. I’ve been disgustingly healthy for at least 10 years, and I’d like to keep it that way. I was a lab tech for many years so just love to dive down the rabbit hole of new medical info coming out.
Lauren - I’m so impressed with Miles’s ability to solve Rubik’s cube so quickly. I figured there was a specific mathematical solution to it, but it’s beyond me for sure.
Karen - hope you’re just busy and nothing is wrong at your house.
Off to get my coffee - have a good day, everyone!

Good Morning, We have sunshine right now headed to 89 with thunderstorms moving in this afternoon. We could get a half inch of rain. We got one tenth late yesterday afternoon with a pop up shower.
I already walked from six to seven. I am headed to the shower to get ready for the funeral visiation at eleven. I am washing our sheets today. I got the other laundry caught up yesterday.
We face time Charlotte last night. She had on an Alice in wonderland costume her grandfather in Texas had mailed her. She wanted to show it to us. She looked precious.
Doug got several errands done yesterday and the bus taken care of still has another repair to the inside lights on the bus he needs to check on but happy about what he got done.
I went to exercise and quick trip through the grocery for a couple of things.
I have not heard from Addy since Wednesday they are busy so I haven't bothered them. Hopefully the headache is gone now.
We got our itenerary for our Bus trip to Boston in October yesterday. I have all that printed off and need to begin a packing list for that. Looks to be a busy trip with all day activities. Not getting back to our hotel till eight at night.
We also got info on an educational meeting Doug has in Louisville the Monday before we leave on Tuesday for Boston. We will drive to Louisville on Sunday afternoon for that meeting then return home Monday afternoon. I hate they are so close together but we will get it done.
Last Day of August. This has been a long month to me.
Janet glad you had activity on the house Thursday. Fingers crossed the grandma approves the house for the couple.
I am glad it will be cooler today.
I need to get moving.
Have a Blessed Day, Count your Blessings, Karen

Good Morning Y'all,
Everett and I had a nice walk this morning. It was a bit cooler out (well, not cool, but not as steamy) and felt good. Soon we'll have crisp cool mornings...looking forward to those!!
I have several things on my list today...I actually made a list so I wouldn't forget...then I'm going over to Shannon's house tonight to hang out and play games (with football on in the background).
Well, I've been wanting to get a bigger lens for my camera for birding. I currently us a 70-300mm zoom. I ordered a 150-600mm zoom lens. It was supposed to arrive on Monday, but got here today!!!! So, who knows if anything on my list will get done. I put it on my camera and went out to try it out. Of course, all the birds were taking their mid morning naps! Though one chickadee showed up and let me photograph it. The lens is heavy. I have a monopod to use with it, but tried it without the monopod just to see if I could hold it steady. I could, but my arm got tired quickly. The monopod will be handy in a bird blind like at Chapman Mountain. I think I'll go back to Chapman Mountain on Monday to practice with the new lens. Shannon should be off...maybe she'll want to go. Though her husband is probably off too, so we'll see. Now that I've been there, it won't bother me to go alone. A lot of different warblers are migrating through the area...many I've never heard of! I'm really looking forward to crane pictures this winter!! So much for my garage project...back to the back burner! ha
My brother Tom is doing better. Patti said he came to a church potluck on Wednesday and looked much better. His post hospital meds are finished, so I know he's happier. He is scheduled for hernia surgery on Sept 11. It is don't laparoscopically so hopefully there won't be much down time for him...it's outpatient. And he should get his teeth on Sept 20...praying there are no setbacks there!
(((HUGS))) all, Peggy ^..^

Good afternoon. I just came back from moms. Terrie had a bridal shower at noon so she went on to that. Jim was busy working in mom's yard. The boy can never sit still when he's here. Always doing something. My Uncle Wayne had 2 of his daughters fly in from Phoenex and New Mexico last night. The one is just staying until Monday but the other will be here a month. So he has all 4 of his girls with him at his house for a few days. They are having family photos taken tomorrow. I was hoping to do a big gathering for them last night but that didn't work out. They didn't land in St Louis until late evening. And tomorrow we have mom's side of the family for the fish fry. My uncle and 2 of the girls did stop by moms while I was there (one that leaves early Monday) so at least I did see her while she's here. She was a surprise to our family. An illegitimate child born out of an affair. He only told us about her after his wife died. So I've only seen her maybe 3 times in my life. I guess all families have stories, right? Anyway, the other daughter will be here a month and I'll see her soon. She was back at home resting. She's not been well at all.
My brother Terry hosted us for dinner last night. His ribs were delicious. Nice to all be together. We got home about 10:30pm, I guess.
Joe and I will go to mass. Jim may go with us. Terrie is taking her mom to a neighboring town for a homecoming parade and bingo and a sandwich at the carnival. We will grab Jim and mom and got get a bite to eat at the restaurant that Jim's best friend owns. They are closing their doors next week so I feel like we should go support them one last time before they close. And mom won't worry about what to cook then.
Tomorrow is the fish fry. Joe just went to get the fish to thaw out and all the things he needs to fry it. We've got that stored at moms. He and my brothers will leave by 9am to get things set up. I'll go a bit later. I'm thinking I may make a pasta and put it in the crockpot, for those that don't like fish. I'll do that in the morning. Hoping for a good turn out. You never know how hard the next year can be on some of our aging relatives. Just happy for the chance to get together.
Karen: How long is your bus trip? Where all do you go? I loved seeing New England last fall.
Lauren: I hope you and Bruce are doing well and his heart has found its regular rhythm. Miles amazes me! What incredible talent he has for that rubics cube.
Barb: I hope Tracy has a great trip!
Peggy: Is Shannon a bird enthusiast, as well?
Annie: Is Greg back home?
Maggie: How is Steve's mom getting along?
Sue: Hope you have a restful weekend! Enjoy those sunsets.
