What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread: Frieda (hopefully)? Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy
And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

A bit of levity to end this tough week…
As you know, my DD and her husband and two daughters come over for Shabbat dinner most Fridays. There is much frivolity, and yes, drinking of wine. During one such meal, the younger granddaughter was trying to wheedle her parents into buying her something. They kept ignoring her requests, so my granddaughter finally turned to me and asked, “Grandma, will you buy it for me?” Being the sap that I am, I immediately responded “yes.” My granddaughter then looked at me and asked , “Are you and Grandpa rich?” Remembering the words of Pirke Avot , I responded, “Who is rich? He who is satisfied with their own portion.” My granddaughter, understanding that I was not giving her a straight answer, responded, “Well, let me ask it his way. Are you ‘loaded’?” My son-in-law quickly interjected: “Who is loaded? She (pointing to me) who drinks more than her portion of wine!”
Wishing you all a lovely and restful shabbos!

What a cute response! Thanks for sharing.
It's already hot here. I turned on the fan even before I sat down at the computer! It's time to go shower, dress, make and eat breakfast and get to weekday morning minyan. Have a great weekend, everyone!
Gut Shabbes / Shabbat Shalom, all.

Haha, Lynne! Children are precious! Thank you for a great week!
It's already 88 degrees here, expected to go up to 109. I woke up feeling sluggish and didn't go to the gym. My weigh-in wasn't bad - I didn't gain but didn't lose either. I could take a long lunch and go to the gym then, but I don't really want to go out in the heat, so I'll probably do my dance dvd here instead.
Is it too early for iced tea?? Everyone stay cool and have a great weekend. Shabbat shalom!
