What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:

And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel.
Today's topic: Safety.
How do you feel about my starting my comments off the way I do? Does it make you feel more secure? Or by any chance, does it make you worry about safety?
This week, I'd like us to discuss various aspects of safety. I have several ideas that I hope I can get across well.
I'll start out by saying that I am glad and grateful that my family chose to come to the USA from Eastern Europe. Despite the problems here, we are still safer than we would have been.
I am proud to be Jewish, but it is not always easy. Here in the USA, we are protected by law. Being Jewish is considered a religion and not an ethnic group. This keeps us from some types of discrimination.
Have a peaceful day, Lee

Good morning and shavua tov!
I like how you start your comments, Lee, and how you end it with wishing us a peaceful day, too. It shows care and concern, which I think is lovely.

I think your openings and closings of posts are perfectly lovely. Everyone has their individual style, and yours highlights aspects of life that are important to you.
Last night we went out with friends to listen to music in the French Quarter. We parked a few blocks from the venue, when it was still light. We took a shortcut through a small park, which was fine, but I did wonder if it would be safe to take the same shortcut on the way back to the car three hours later. Without discussing it, our foursome took the longer way back to the car, on well lit streets. Safety!
(By the way, the music was incredible!)
