Hi everyone,
sorry about not not using the opening paragraph this week. I'm out of town, visiting relatives, and only have my iPad with me.
What is your personal plan for getting through Thursday food wise?
My plan is usually to have a helping of everything I really like. But no more than one reasonable helping. This is a plan which should good but very hard to stick to!!

1 serving of all the fancy-shmancy foods. OK, Lynne. Neishma v'Na'ahsey. Just as important, I'm planning to have my DDiL take home leftovers. I always overcook.
I'm doing a lunch, so it's a matter of a couple of kugels and fried turkey drumsticks, and salad and dessert.
Anybody have any good ideas for Thankfulness/Gratitude conversation openers? I'm kind of bored with just going around the table and each person saying what they are thankful for.

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well today, and that you feel as happy and excited as I do about the holiday! I feel great, and that's good because I have a lot to do today and tomorrow. When I get off the computer in about a half hour, I am going to bake a lemon chess pie for tomorrow. This afternoon, H is getting off work early, and he, DS and I will all work together to create our "signature dish" of spanakopita. YUM!!!
As for tomorrow, my strategy is to be mindful about enjoying what I eat so that I am conscious of what and how much I am eating. I am not going to stuff myself (just the turkey, haha).
I'll be back later if possible. Have a peaceful day, Lee

Boker Tov all! My plan is to eat a little of everything & to enjoy the "once a year" foods like rice/wild rice dressing & pecan pie (I don't eat the crust) without guilt.
Today I've already made a cranberry/strawberry sauce to take to my DIL's house. I'm so glad I'm not cooking - much easier to deal if there are no leftovers around me!
Getting ready to head to the pool, then I will be spending a few hours at the antique mall. Lynne, I hope you are feeling much better! Have a good day ladies!

I will have a reasonable serving of mashed potatoes and of stuffing, and I'll eat more turkey and roasted broccoli. I have worked out a lot this week and have enough points for a piece of pumpkin pie, so I'm looking forward to that as well.
I'm looking forward to this Thanksgiving, because our bffs are hosting, and their daughter's in-laws are all coming. I mean the whole mishpachah, her parents-in-law and her husband's siblings with their spouses. I've only met these people once, at the wedding last year, so I will enjoy talking with them all and getting to know them better. My mom is coming too, as well as DH and both DS25s. (DD28 and her fiancée are spending Thanksgiving with DF's family.) I hope I'll be too busy talking to eat more than I'm planning to!

Oh, I also plan to take a walk after dinner. Bffs live in a nice neighborhood, and it's expected to be sunny and clear tomorrow (though chilly). So anyone who wants to walk off some carbs can join me!

Reasonable-sized portions. Because I don't mix dairy with meat, I taste whatever I think looks interesting that has dairy in it first. Then (same plate) I take some turkey (and whatever else looks interesting). I often pass on the gravy, depending on how it's made (when my sister used to make it, she used frozen concentrated oj undiluted plus Triple Sec or more often Cointreau; Y-U-M!) but I think my niece makes more conventional gravy, so it's easy to pass up. I don't waste my calories (or points...) on mashed potatoes, but I'll eat other kinds (like yams or sweet potatoes, for example). There are always lots of veggies on my niece's table.
I usually wait a while before dessert, since dessert is more often than not dairy. Which sometimes means there isn't enough left by the time I'm ready, and frankly, that's a good thing!
I'm sitting here in my sister's living room (at the beach house), looking out over the Pacific Ocean. It's always SSSOOOOOO peaceful here...
