Over 60 and Still Working/Thursday

Good morning my friends,

Yesterday was a hard day for all of us. Here's hoping that we can see some light today.

I have online yoga at 9:30. This is the same teacher that has the in-person class on Tuesdays, but a different group and she changes out the class. At 10, a guy is supposed to come by to talk to DH about the location for the whole-house generator. Then I have an appointment with the retina doctor at 12:50. DH will go with me in case they dilate my eyes.

Yesterday I directed my energy toward cleaning my kitchen floor. It's a long galley kitchen and serves as the path from our kitchen porch into the living room, so it gets a lot of foot traffic. Glad it's done.

Good morning!

We bought the living room furniture and a couple of dressers yesterday. All the big stuff is bought. It will be delivered the day before Thanksgiving so I took up DD’s offer to have Thanksgiving at her house. She lives next door so no long drive for us! LOL

I think you will be pleased with the General maryenne. A friend has one and loves it. He has lost power four times in the three years he has had it.
His dog goes nuts with the weekly test, he’s a border collie and gets excited at mechanical sounds.

Good morning!

I agree that yesterday was a very hard day. I took a day to just grieve and I admit cry, but today I am trying to move forward. What's done is done. We have to pick up the pieces and find a way to best navigate forward for ourselves and those we love. Like I am sure all of you do, I strongly believe in the power of the ballot box and the peaceful transfer of power. So even though we may not like what the people's votes said, those votes are to be respected and we will behave like the adults we are. I keep reminding myself that this too shall pass. I'm just not sure how long that will take or how dark it will get as we wait.

So I am instead going to turn my focus onto small things that I can accomplish, and we are going to grab each day and find our path forward. I currently belong to two local women's groups. One is really just a social group, but the other does projects for the betterment of the community. I'll continue to work with that. And I'm considering looking into some other groups here in town to see if there might be a way I can volunteer to help. I think I'd most like to work with groups which help to empower women. One I'm especially hoping to find out if there might be a place for me to volunteer from time to time is called The Scarlet Rope project. This projects works with women who have been abused and sex trafficked and helps them get their lives back in order and find a place to move into and contribute to society. That really sounds meaningful to me, so that one will be the first on my list to find out more about, but there are others. I'm sure some I don't even know yet exists. For me, what has happened in our government just makes it even more important not to give up, but for each of us to find some small way to work through and continue to do our part. So that's my soap box for this morning. We each need to find what works best for us to keep from being discouraged and giving up.

Today my cleaning lady is here. She's a lovely person and I can always here her singing to herself as she works. That's nice. Her English is improving as well. I suspect that she voted differently from me, but of course, I will never ask her. Her vote is her voice and her right. I do really wonder, however what would draw an Hispanic immigrant towards voting for trump.

nashville11, your words are very wise and I find your ideas inspirational. I will also look for ways that I can provide service. I tutor but I'm only tutoring one student now and I have time for another student or even something different. Let's keep this conversation going!
