What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread: Frieda (hopefully)? Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy
And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

I keep reading that people who voted for the losing candidate should reach out to Trump voters to understand them. Yesterday, Beryl’s post indicated that she, for one, wasn’t going to take that advice. I understand. It’s way too soon to put my grief completely aside. This past week, I have found solace by being with you all, and my family, and my friends, all of whom understand and feel the same way. Sometimes, you just gotta be with your people.
Well, the election did give us an opportunity for a case study. How did the upset/sadness/scariness of the election result affect your eating?

My eating last week wasn't as bad as it could have been. On my WI day, I neither gained nor lost. I'm doing well this week so far (my eating week starts on Friday); I feel like with so much meshugas that's out of my control, one thing I CAN control is what I put in my mouth. So far so good!

As it happened I had just started a new program last week and food wasn't an issue in response to what happened. This is unusual for me so I definitely understand why you would ask. Maybe it was also because I could see clearly for once that food was not going to help. The problem is way bigger than that. But yes I understand it. I'm sure a lot of people responded with food and drink.

For me, I was too depressed/upset the first couple of days to have much of an appetite. I quickly got over that , and did turn to food for comfort for a couple of days. Better now.

Since I lost weight a number of years ago, I tend to lose my appetite. I may snack but not eat. Until I get hungry and do eat, of course. I do get turning to food and drink too for comfort.

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel and the USA.
Re today's topic: I have always been a stress eater, but thanks to my meds, my friends and family, therapy, and writing, I haven't been quite as intense about it as in the past. I did bake cookies and eat several of them, but the rest of them are sitting in the kitchen, and DS and DH can have them if they want. I've been eating more fruit when I crave something sweet, and that helps. Also, I will be starting Zepbound soon, and am very excited about that. I think that the idea of a new medication is helping me focus.
I have fasting blood tests on Thursday morning, so I'll be late posting. I hope my A1C and other levels will be good.
Have a peaceful day, Lee

I too am with Beryl. I am SO not ready to talk with anyone who voted the other way. My eating isn't different because of the election results. DS is here and we've been eating out more than usual, so that has had an effect on the scale, though not enough to worry about.
Having DS here is wonderful!
