Good morning.
This morning DH, DM and I are taking a little train excursion at the Heart Of Dixie Train Museum. According to the website we might get held up by train robbers. should be a fun time. I have no idea if there will be any horses involved but I'll report back later today.
Amy-what is M.T.G.? Glad Reuben's skin irritation is getting better.
Barb-riding today?
Cathy-do you ever paint horses or are you not that far along in your classes?
run3girl-I don't remember if you have horses or not.
QOTD-what is your favorite horse movie?
Mine is Secretariat. War Horse was good but the violence kinda got to me especially when he ran through the barbed wire. I't been so long since I've seen My Friend Flicka but I remember reading the book.

Good morning! Squiggle, your train excursion sounds like it will be a fun time. Enjoy! I loved Secretariat, that was a terrific movie. What I've been enjoying is watching oldies but goodies like My Friend Flicka and The Horse with the Flying Tail with my kids. My DS (5) really enjoys these movies. He'll occasionally reference them, out of the blue, and their plot lines. It's pretty cute
I hope everyone has a lovely day!

Rueben and I went on a little walk this morning with our barn friends Karen and Shamus (horse). The world was steamy and 80 degrees by 8:00 am. It was good to get their legs stretched and chat with Karen a little but that's about it. I don't think I will ride at all tomorrow. I hope we get a storm on Monday, this heat and humidity has got to go! The heat index is predicted to be over 100 degrees today.
My favorite horse movie as a kid was National Velvet. I also loved the Black Stallion movie when it came out having read a lot of the books. I would have to agree with the Secretariat selection as my favorite now.
Beth, Shapley's Original M-T-G, (Mane, Tail, Groom). is a very old fashioned product and smells not the greatest, but it works wonders! It takes care of fungal and bacterial skin problems but it also is a great conditioner for the tail and promotes hair growth. It is not a spray on and you need to massage it into the coat so it reaches the skin. It is good for your hands too but to make clean up easy I use disposable exam gloves. I am truly amazed at how fast Rueben's legs returned to normal in] just 2 days with big results after one day. Have fun at the Train Museum!

I wish I had a horse. I have never owned one, but I absolutely love them. I try to trail ride every summer at a resort my family does every fourth of July week, but I've only done trail rides and lessons for my experience. I also did a horse camp a few summers, but stopped mostly because my family didn't want to send me, along with the experience there that led to a broken thumb. Nothing major, mind you. It was simply me putting my thumb accidentally through the lead rope while tying my horse to a post, and the horse being spooked. Its hard for me to pick out a single favorite horse movie, but I've liked Flicka(the one with Tim McGraw in it), Hidalgo, and Secretariat. I did enjoy an animated version of Black Beauty as well.

Hi all - movie - yes, Secretariat as well! Amy - glad you got out - must have missed Ruben's leg thing- what was it? I have heard of MTG but never used it -Penny has some funky stuff on her hind legs kind of like scratches but not on the heel -I use an antiseptic spray that seems to help -but may research MTG! I rode early this morning was on the trail by 9 back at the barn by 9:45 - the bugs were actually not bad & we hauled a**S! what usually takes 45-55 minutes depending how much trotting/cantering we do -took us 40 mins! Then I showered both horses (and of course they rolled) sprayed & Masked and gave them lunch under the trees -they are happy campers! Yes, tired of the hot/humid -we NEED RAIN! Beth - your outing sounds like fun -enjoy- watch out for robbers! Waving to all - HAGD

Hi, horse lovers. I am a former owner. For movies, I still prefer Seabiscuit. There was a book "Secretariat" that was fantastic. When he won the Triple Crown in '73 I happened to not own a TV and never got to see the amazing Belmont victory live. Of course, have seen replays many times. It still gets me.

Train ride was fun but no actual horses involved. During the 'robbery' when one of the 'bad' men came on our coach, there was a young boy dressed as a cowboy maybe age 5-6 who had a plastic 'rifle' and kept yelling "Get out of here bad guy" over and over. It was really cute.
Welcome Lani. I too am a former owner of horses and still love them to this day. Join us in our daily conversations. I don't remember watching Seabiscuit but I have read the book.
run3rgirl I also loved Hidalgo. I forgot about that one.
chickadee It is funny to watch the old movies and see the old open top horse trailers pulled by cars. Things we would no longer even consider now.
Amy-glad you had a good ride.
Barb-yes a little rain would help. Have you ever considered tying the horses up until they are dry before turning them loose right after bathing them or do you not stay around that long?
