Hi Horse Friends!
I have been overly busy and having computer issues. I made it through Thanksgiving and my trip to Philly. I have been trying to ride and get ready for Christmas. I still have Thanksgiving boxes to put up in the attic but all of it is packed. I have decided to do "Christmas light" this year since it is not our year to host anything the big tree is not going up. My first show riding Lukas will be this Sunday. I go back and fourth between feeling ready an then not but I am going to go anyway. A lot of it is that I don't know how he will behave at shows so I will find out. It will be his first show as a hunter instead of a jumper.
I do have to go into work today. I am going to try and go back and read all that I have been missing. I hope I find that you all are well.
-Amy
Santa might be bringing me a new computer.

Good morning.
Amy-it's good to hear from you again. I have missed the Lukas stories. I'm sure he will be fine at the show. Hope Santa does bring you a new computer.
Barb-sorry the show wasn't as good as last year but you know each show is different. At least you were close to home.
Cathy-do try to do the show. You never know what you can do until you try.
Libby-I do hope the reno does goes faster than expected. Is DH back home from Alaska?
Dutch-has Ally adjusted to her new shelter? Hope things are going okay with you.
Faye-did you do a gig yesterday?

BETH-gigs start this coming Sunday so already practicing this AM. there was an announcement in our local paper under the events page so nice to see the library does good PR. They said "accomplished harpist..." so I'm really practicing LOL. I've been to that library a lot and they are really nice and good carpet. so for the non-harpists--carpets can make or break you. because if a busy pattern or red or black or white you can't see the strings, they blend in. Some people even carry scarves with them to put on the floor. CATHY-remember the carpet at the Somerset conference? everyone complains. AMY-good to hear from you. sounds like you realize it's more to see how Lukas does at a show and introduce him to shows here so that's a good attitude. Good luck. BARB-did you talk to Judy? I've been messaging her. sorry about the show. LIBBY-hope all is going well with renovation
snow here. doesn't look bad but the town plow came and so did our plow guy so guess there was a bunch overnight. (well usually 3 inches for the plow guy to come) and schools in some places are on delay so guess it's winter.
PS-i joined WW again. hate to say it but i like the app and it's the only one I can track on . doing a bit better so we'll see. I don't bother with anything else except the app. Made yummy lentil soup last night. I use organic chicken broth, lentils, carrots, onions, and add a cut up yukon potato and i make some turkey bacon, cut it up and put it in. The turkey bacon gives it some salt and the potato some consistancy and it was good. I make a big batch to freeze some.

Hi horse lovers, We got a dusting of snow this morning. It's going to snow again tomorrow and be a lot colder. Horses have shelter, yet standing out in the snow! Remodel is going! Realized we have to replace the floor - one expense unexpected! Hah, I guess you don't know until you get under there! DH is off to the lumber store to buy wood and screws. It's pretty noisy! I'll be shutting the door and working at home Wave to Barb, Beth, Faye, Amy, Cathy, Dutch and ATF

Hi, all! Faye, let the harping begin!! I love that the library appreciates your performances. I DO remember the carpet, but at the time it was not foremost in my discomfort zone. Now that I'm feeling better about my playing, maybe I should come again? But I also would like to go to Michigan this summer...haven't been for a few years. Stay warm! Libby, yay on the quick reno. I did have the floor replaced as well. Plus they found some leakage behind the fridge so that was extra as well. They say you should have more $ than what's quoted because you will SURELY go over Barb, bummer about the not-so-great show. I was exhausted just READING all the things you did the same day you moved bales...you are in GOOD shape, woman!! Beth, are you still doing your morning walks? With the rain? I kind of like walking in the rain unless it's a downpour. Amy, nice to see you back. I agree with the others, just go and have fun, and try not to sweat it too much. My first shows were disasters so I gave up worrying about what would happen and just go with the flow. I know it's hard but it's WAY more fun Did the first try at getting the paint off the cabinets in the tricky places. Need to try another coat of stripper; the tools aren't very small so it's still a bit annoying to try and scrape the paint off. Would like to get all my crap back in the drawers instead of in a box on the floor Got in a hike yesterday, then dinner with hiking friends. Was very nice. Hope to swim today; kind of foggy/overcast. Supposed to rain later this week. Cathy

BARB-lunches with the snowbirds? enjoy. any movement with Dee and the strips for the shelter? good luck DUTCH-so Ally knows to come in out of the rain and snow! smart girl.Glad to know the shelter is being used. hope things will start to look up for you and settle down. good luck with everything. CATHY-they are in a new hotel this year, still only about 20 min from me and supposed to be very nice and give more room. I signed up Cyber monday but understand if you want to go to Michegan. Glad you are more confident in your harping. Many Skype lessons so may be a way . Actually the boards seem to say Facetime gives better results, Skype freezed at times so if you eventually go that route let me know and I'll ask a friend that teaches that way. she mentioned certain settings to make it better. glad you walked. sorry the tool is a bit big. HOpe you are getting a lot of ventilation when if you are using chemical strippers. AMY-exciting about showing. good luck.
waving to all. did some yoga to stretch and now back to practicing. Tomorrow is working out and haircut and friend coming over to do duets so tomorrow is busy. Neighbors coming back Thursday for a final rehearsal for me. We plan to not chat during and I'll do the show to confirm the timing.

Hi horse lovers, Well the mare (ewanna)magic hasn't started kicking (haha) in yet! Lucy was kicking the stall like a mad women at 2:30 a.m.. I got up and put her in the arena. Couldn't get back to sleep for quite a while. I'm going to the feed store today to look at a slow feeder box. I'm hoping I can give her her regular hay in the evening and then fill the slow feeder box to keep her busy. I really think she is getting mad a Rosie, as this is the only side she kicks! She is a very food motivated horse. It's taking a toll on all the wood on that side of the stall. The reno- stairs gone, new floor base in, (removed a stair well to get 3 extra feet in the kitchen), today they are plumbing the propane for the new stove and rough cutting the new windows in. I still have 1/2 my kitchen they walled it off and are doing one side at a time, since we are living here during this! All the sensors and smoke alarms were going off at 7:50 this morning- it was the dust! Went to the doc's yesterday for my "tennis elbow" which is worse, not better. They are sending me to physical therapy. Wave to all, hagd!

Back from the dentist. DH isn't a very good patient. He said his neck hurt in the position he had to be in and kept wiggling. The dr told him to be still as he didn't want to hit a wrong tooth with the drill. DH is a very anxious type of person. I've had to tell him very often that he'll be fine. I really think she is getting mad a Rosie, as this is the only side she kicks! She is a very food motivated horse. It's taking a toll on all the wood on that side of the stall. Oh yeah I know about that and the kicking. Yes replacing the wood can get expensive if you have to replace it often. friend coming over to do duets so tomorrow is busy. I hope your program is all tuned up. (pun intended). Beth, are you still doing your morning walks? With the rain? I kind of like walking in the rain unless it's a downpour. No I'm not walking while it's been raining and I don't walk when it gets below 40. I'm wimpy that way. I have been working out on the elliptical machine when I don't get outside to walk. Ally has adjusted to her shelter! I actually have found her in there a few times! Now at least I don't feel like it's a complete waste! yay! Glad she finally learned to go in there. Santa might be bringing me a new computer. A desk top or laptop? Busy week this week -several lunches to catch up w/ friends, dinner with friends leaving for FL for 3 months & birthday dinner Friday & then show Saturday - Yes that sounds like a very busy week.

HI gang - Libby- we use slow feeder nets (2") holes for all meals - does make a difference -and they even make a smaller (1") one - the mare magic can take up to 2 weeks to "kick in" (so they say!) Dutch - glad Allie is liking her shed -are you feeding her in there as well? that will make her really like it! Faye- have fun at your show - and yes, Dee has put up her strips! Amy - what classes are you going in this weekend? Are you going to get a laptop or desk top? Beth- most DH's are not good patients! haha -
Did some errands this morning -cleaned the shed -it probably would have been a good day to ride- no wind & the temps got all the way to 40! but I didn't!

So, finally was able to call APHA to ask about registration status... turns out I missed the $15 transfer fee. So gave them that $ and they are working on it!

BETH-hope DH heals fast and easily. HOpe he's a good patient at home. My program is set. I emailed it to the first couple of places I go to. Glad you have an elliptical LIBBY-sorry about the tennis elbow. be careful cleaning and doing stuff with the renovation. it was when I had a room redone and I kept mopping I gave myself rotator cuff tendinitis. how is it with the dust for breathing never mind the smoke detectors (although that's really annoying)
BARB-glad you got stuff done. sorry you didn't ride. how was lunch with friends? DUTCH-sorry about the holdup on the paperwork but glad you caught the issue.

Hi Everyone,
Faye, I am still doing WW. It is the only program that has ever really worked for me. Even if I am not losing fast I am keeping off what I have lost which is key. I am sure you will be fab at your performances. Very interesting about the patterns on the carpet, a scarf is a good idea.
Libby- I think a kitchen make over is so great when it is done but the process is probably very stressful. It sounds just like the shows on HGTV they always find something that needs to be repaired or replaced. Are you putting the stairs somewhere else or were they a second set to begin with?
Dutch, sounds like you are back to good health and Ali is a clever girl!
Barb- love seeing your glass on line. Kind of good that I don't live close to your shows I might end up being your best customer!
Beth- I am OK with being out in the cold to be at the barn but I don't really just go for a walk if it is really cold. I am wimpy that way too!
Cathy- In search of teachers, have you asked at the art supply store?
Just saw that they are calling for snow on Sunday. I hope they are wrong, I won't go to the show if the roads are bad or going to be bad, it is not worth the risk to me. I have my riding lesson this morning and I am hoping for a confidence building ride. I am doing the modified Hunters division at the show. 3 rounds (classes) over fences and one class on the flat. The fences are low at 2'3" so that will make it easier to add a stride between fences and keep it slow. I want Lukas to realize we can take our time and we are not racing the clock. I did my last practice ride in my show boots and will ride in them today too. They feel a little different then my usual paddock boots and half chaps but I only notice them during the warm up.
I will be getting a lap top type computer because I move it around the house with me sometimes.
HAGD

Barb; how big are your slow feeders? Are they big boxes or netting? Faye; they won't give me a shot until I try PT first. Since I semi retired, I have an HMO for insurance. I got a bunch of exercises from the doc, PT isn't for 2 weeks out. It is helping already Amy; I might be getting skylights in the kitchen, the contractor suggested it. We just put in the order, we'll see how much they are lol and go from there, I'm sure they will say I need a new roof! Hope you get to show, are the show boots stiff? Dutch; they won't work w/o their $$ haha, they should have called you Cathy; is your weather turning cold? it's all iced up here this morning, snow predicted tomorrow Wave to All, HAGD

Hi all- Amy - your plan for the show sounds like a good one -just think of it as a schooling show -you will do fine -(let us know =-post photos) Beth - yes, glad DH is doing well. Faye - enjoy your lesson -
Got a hair cut this morning -then fed lunch -cold/wet here today -no riding -the rest of the week is also supposed to get REAL cold -I really hate winter!
DH has bowling this afternoon -so it's my "free" afternoon -not sure what I'll do -just enjoy the quiet!

I just got a repeat order for some caps. when I asked (by text) when he wanted them by, he said "When you get them done." I just told DH the customer gave me one of DH's type of responses . So I will get them done when I get them done. So there, nana nana boo boo. LOL I'm really in a good mood though.

Hi, all! Faye, glad your music set is all...set! Don't you have another run through with neighbors or are you all done? Beth, glad DH is doing well. Does the dentist ever give gas or pills for relaxing patients? I had gas (yeah, not literally...THAT way) when I was a kid and when my mom found out she went ballistic. I kind of liked it Have fun on the order! Barb, hey, I got my hair done today too! New person, she cut it pretty short but said there's lots of damage. Just hard for me to get used to. Libby, it really sounds like the kitchen reno is moving fast...that is SO cool! Skylights would be nice, I wish I'd had them in my old house in San Jose. Now I have lighting up the ying yang Amy, a new laptop! That will be nice. Hope the snow holds out so that you can show on Saturday...we're all rooting for you! Dutch, at least the registration is moving forward again Yesterday we were being audited by the client that I work for, so hung around. No walking or anything. I took today off, had lots of plans but after yanking lots of cash out of my savings for the hair cut, I didn't think I could take more so nixed the xmas tree trip. My glasses are ready too but I'll pick them up tomorrow. So...just painting today It was raining on the "summit" on my way home, and supposed to rain for the rest of the week (lots of frost, Libby, but we rarely get snow). Cathy

CATHY-my haircut yesterday is a bit short too, must be the universe one neighbor isn't feeling well but the other is coming tomorrow. good luck with the glasses AMY-good luck with the laptop. enjoy
supposed to be yucky weather Sunday so hope it's not when I have to unload the harp. I remember years ago the ensemble had a gig and I had the pedal harp and it was snowing. Luckily there was an overhang at the entrance to unload.
HAGE everyone
