ASL Yes, I've enjoyed the scanning portion of the app. It's a great way to quickly size up options at the store. For daily use, however, I tend to create my own items and look them up because so many of the items in the WW database are just off slightly. They will be +/-10 calories or +/-1 gram of this or that. I guess the manufacturers change their formulas slightly, or else the testing standards have changed recently. And I'm too anal to just let it slide.

Also... someone needs to explain this "Halo Top" thing to me. I've figured out that it's ice cream, but that's all. What's the fuss?

ASL, I live on the northshore so not as bad. And I got some bonding time with my coworkers while we were in our work tornado shelter for 30 minutes. There's a seafood buffet not too far from us and they do a great job boiling seafood. Great enough that I can easily bypass the fried and buttered stuff on the buffet. I'm hoping to go there this weekend.

bigtotoro, Halo Top is lower in calories, fat, sugar, everything else than regular ice cream. So it comes out to about 5 points for 1 cup. It's not as thick and creamy but they have a wide variety of flavors and I think it's a great substitute. I've tried Salted Caramel and Peanut Butter Cup. Both were good but I liked the PB Cup better. My husband had the Oatmeal Cookie but his favorite is the PB Cup too. I want to try the Mint one next.

That's quite a points savings! I've been eating the little 3 oz vanilla kiddie cups for 8 points each! Throw it on a banana though and it's satisfying enough.

bigtotoro Some of the flavors of Halo Top ice cream has a different texture that some have difficulty getting past but I am a HUGE Halo Top fan! I've tried almost ALL the flavors but my favorites are: Sea Salt Carmel, Peanut Butter Cup, Mint Chip, Black Cherry, Birthday Cake. It's usually VERY expensive between about $3-$6 per pint but depending on the flavor it can range from 2-3 SP's per 1/2 cup. For me, it totally is worth it because it satisfies my sweet tooth and the low points allows me to add to the flavors to enhance them when I want. sheila I wish I could get the type of boiled seafood that you can get for the price you can get it but I'm in the mountains on NC and not near the ocean at all so my seafood is at best, fresh frozen or thawed. :-(

I've had Chocolate Mocha Chip (meh), Birthday Cake (good), Lemon Cake (good), and S'mores (yum!). I have Sea Salt Caramel, Mint Chip, Peanut Butter Cup, and I think Chocolate Almond Crunch still in my freezer (I forget if it was the Chocolate Almond or the Oatmeal Cookie that I ended up with when they were on sale).
Weigh-in tomorrow should be okay. I think I'll break even this week. I weighed exactly the same this morning as I did last Saturday morning, so I'm hoping for a tiny loss tomorrow! I'll take it. This was a rough week... between Chinese food and cake last weekend and being stuck indoors in the snow yesterday, any loss will be a victory!

WI this morning and down 1.2!!! Down a total of 106.6!!! The funny thing is WW's plan is designed to lose 1/2 lb to 2 lbs per week "on average" and when I look at my WI book, I gained then lost then gained then lost but when added together totaled 2 lbs down in the past 4 weeks which is the 1/2 lb on average that the plan is designed for. This means that I am still very much on track! I'm happy I took a look at that because in my mind I only remembered 2 recent gains and then this loss and in my head I thought..."What the heck, I'm only down .6 total!!!" Not true. It's funny how our minds can play with us.
Some weeks & days are tougher while others are not but as long as we are moving more & making healthier choices, we will get there no matter if you're a member of the turtle club or not! Hang in there & know you can do this!
Halo Top Flavors & reviews: I've had Chocolate Mocha Chip (meh), Birthday Cake (good), Lemon Cake (good), and S'mores (meh). I have Sea Salt Caramel (OMG relish!), Mint Chip (good), Peanut Butter Cup (good), Chocolate Almond Crunch still in my freezer, Oatmeal Cookie (meh), Red Velvet (good), Strawberry (good) Chocolate (meh but some like), Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (YUM), Cookies & Cream (meh), Pistachio (good), Black Cherry (YUM).

Eating out was a challenge today. I went out for both brunch and dinner. I was able to look up the menu and points in advance and made good choices when ordering. I feel like it was a hurdle I overcame.

Up .6 this week. It is what it is. I didn't think i did bad this week other than the Chinese food and cake last weekend. Oh well... new week starts now! Oh boy! :-( Keep that chin up & move forward. Do you have a Trader Joe's near you? If so, (and I haven't tried it yet) they have a Kung Pao Cauliflower that is 6 SP's for 1 cup (I think but you need to double check since this is by memory only). It might satisfy that Chinese food crave you have weekly. 0:-) OR maybe try the steamed chicken & veggies with sauce & rice on the side (no oil or butter) although that tends to be very bland! You got this & we know some weeks we are up & others we are down so just keep moving on to make positive changes this week.

Eating out: I tend to tell them no oil & no butter so they will either steam my food or grill it with or without spray. If going for Mexican food, I usually bring my own FF cheese in a baggie & some low point chips (41 good thin corn chips or 2 sp WW nacho cheese snack). I will order 2 shrimp taco's (one hard shell & the other without a shell) with extra lettuce & tomato & no cheese. I then add my own cheese. While my DH eats the yummy chips on the table, I will dip my good thins in the zero point salsa that is so good. After I eat my meal, I will usually eat 1-3 of the chips that were served but by then I am usually full and not feeling the high point chips. For Chinese food, I will order steamed chicken & shrimp with broccoli (&/or other fresh veggies) with no oil, no butter & sauce on the side). I also get the brown rice but have it on the side. It's bland so I usually add black pepper and a very tiny amount of sauce. I avoid the fried noodles & sweet sauce & if in the mood for soup, I order a wonton, egg drop mix soup then eat only 1 wonton. Eating out at a tavern type place, I will usually order grilled or steamed fish taco lettuce wraps with plain shredded cabbage & salsa with no other sauce OR I will order a steamed shrimp appetizer with a steamed veggie & maybe if I have the points available, some sweet potato fries :-)
I bought some new products from TJ's this week that I have been trying out and will be happy to share my review if anyone is interested.

ASL, We went to Country Kitchen for brunch and I had soup and salad and we went to Outback for dinner and I had steak with a baked potato and broccoli. I refused the blooming onion and the bread the rest of my group had. I even had enough points for a fruity cocktail. I couldn't eat all my broccoli so I took it home and made broccoli soup today (only 3 pts)

Good morning all! My foot keeps reminding me that it still isn't happy so I am trying to be active, listen to my body & be patient. The patience part is the hardest! I'm going to head out to hydroburn class today. Last week I didn't feel it was challenging enough but it does force me out to move more with the resistance of the water so the impact is easier on my joints and foot. I head back to moms this week to hopefully help her through the toughest week since my fathers passing (valentines day, in between day & their anniversary), then we will head to VA to go bridal gown shopping for my daughters wedding. (For those who do not know, I'm NOT thrilled in the least over her choice of a husband so this isn't an exciting time for me but instead I am trying to be supportive of her because I love her but keeping myself from breaking down in tears & ruining her joy, it takes every ounce of strength I have and I am a stress eater who won't be in an environment I can have great food choices. :-( I'll get through it and onto the next thing since the wedding is set for August of THIS year! bkakbt Good for you that with your choices you were able to even have a fruit dessert! Great perspective!! I find I can't have just 1 slice of the delicious hot great they bring so I also opt not to touch it. I think one of the most important things is to know your self, your strengths & weaknesses. I'm now able to taste some things with control that I in the past would have had no control over but I'm not there yet with the warm table bread/rolls. lol I see this weeks topic at WW is: Cleaning your environment of clutter! Great topic for me!!!! So I found this copied and pasted from the Weight Watchers website and thought I would share it with you all here: Weekly Focus: Make a Clean Sweep Clutter = Stress. Ditch one and you'll cut back on the other—and that can help make weight loss easier! Living in a chaotic or messy house can leave you feeling overwhelmed and stressed. No surprise: It’s hard to focus when so many things are scrambling for attention. And, as your Weekly points out, the stress of living in such surroundings can also affect how well you can manage your weight. Consider: A crowded, disorganized kitchen makes it harder to cook (and easier to choose microwave meals, snacks, and other grabbable eats. A bedroom with a bursting closet and dresser means it’s hard to get your gym clothes ready to go. There’s a physiological aspect, too: Increased stress can crank up the production of the hormone cortisol, which may be a factor in obesity. Bring in the good stuff Luckily, small, single-move changes can make a difference. If you don't bring potato chips into the house, you won't eat them. (And if there's someone who does want them in the house, like your kid or spouse, find a spot where you won't see them. Or repackage them in a plain opaque container you label with the SmartPoints® value per serving.) If you stock your fridge with cut-up fresh peppers and carrots, you’re less likely to reach for something you don't really want. If you replace your whole milk with fat-free, you'll start drinking fat-free. If you put fresh fruit in a bowl on your kitchen table, grabbing an apple for a snack is effortless. Simply keeping your kitchen counters clear of a lot of stuff can help, too. Creating a healthy home needn't be hard work—here's how one member did it. Beyond the kitchen But it's not just your cupboards and fridge that can help you stay on plan. Declutter the den/family room, too. Clear out the snack table and bring in some hand weights and maybe an exercise ball so you can move while you watch TV. Your bedroom is another place where calm can help: People who are consistently sleep-deprived are more likely to be overweight. So create a sleep-inviting haven by putting away clothes, and banishing the TV and laptop. Room-darkening shades can help, too. And clear the decks (or desks!) at work. The vending machine. The working lunch. The Friday pizza run. When you’re surrounded by such not-so-plan-friendly distractions, here's help navigating these treacherous waters!

@aslintprtr It sounds like you have an awful lot going on. Sending you some peaceful mojo! I have to eat out for work pretty regularly and I just try to make the best decisions and those weeks I really try to not use my weeklies for any other reason. I am a pretty loosey goosey tracker though (like I refuse to count bbq sauce and I very rarely count oil if I am just sprinkling a little in to roast something) so this technique seems to be working for me. Once it stops working, I will move on to something else! I cleaned out my pantry this weekend and I feel a better knowing what is actually in there. -1.0 this week which got me to my initial 5% goal. Ready to keep moving forward!

I finally had Halo Top (Sea Salt Caramel) and it was very good! Thanks for the suggestion!
Sadly, I ate the whole pint at once. I tried using a sharp knife to cut the pint into even quarters, but I accidentally cut through the bottom of the carton. So I HAD to do it so as not to be wasteful. ...at least that's the excuse I'm going with.

Happy Valentines Day to everyone! I just want to let you know how much I appreciate and love each of you. bigtotoro LOL on the Halo Top! When cutting the portions, I place my finger underneath because I've done that too but even if you pierce the bottom, it keeps in the freezer without affecting the taste. I will usually save enough points so I can eat 1/2 of the pint in one sitting but to hold that restraint, I need to dish out the first serving or else my spoon won't stop dipping (to even it out of course) until there isn't enough to save leaving me no choice but to finish it. Yesterday was a Hydro burn class and this morning will be the Spin 101 class. I won't be staying for the Zumba class because my foot is being finicky.
