Good morning. Going to see the doc for fasting blood work and meds today. She has a walk in clinic so DH and I may be there several hours. Then we may go out to eat lunch.
Barb-enjoy the chocolate and wine tasting tonight. I've never heard of chocolate and wine, just cheese and wine or a chocolate tasting alone. Do let us know all about it.

Hi, all! Faye, glad you had a good harp lesson. My teacher posted on FB (yes, I do sneak in every now and then ) that we could contact her re: Skype lessons. I have to think about how to do this; my work laptop has Skype but that means probably bringing my harp downstairs for lessons (better than in the car). I don't want to unplug all the connectors on my laptop Beth, good luck at the docs today. At least you have each other to keep company! Barb, yum...chocolate (and wine)! Let us know how that goes! Hi, to Dutch (feel better!) and Libby (is AZ weather OK?) and Amy (how's that journalling going?). So, no clear-cut winner re: laptops I have an iPhone which is why I was considering Apple but they are SO expensive. You can get refurbished at Walmart (sounds like an oxymoron to me) but haven't looked into HPs. I know my friend at the end of the street works there...wonder if she can swing a deal Did swim yesterday, nice, not crowded for a Wednesday. Today..sigh...the rain is back. Might go use the gym today, the inside bits as opposed to the outside pool. Cathy

BARB-color and trim. I like this new new place but it's more expensive, takes me longer to get to and I can't stand the parking lot across the street so I may go back to my original hairdresser which is less than 5 min away and less expensive. LIBBY-enjoy the weather. CATHY-does she do Facetime? would that work better for you with the computers? AMY-glad you like the journal. I'm tracking today and doing much better. DUTCH-waving BETH-hope you didn't have to wait long at the dr and hope you enjoyed lunch

Hi all,
WI tomorrow. I really hope it goes well with all the tracking and journaling etc. Even if it doesn't Pay off this week, I feel better anyway.
I bought a rug hook kit just to have a little craft project to keep my hands busy, wanted something easy. All of the kits I have done in the past had the picture printed on the canvas but not this one! It has a chart and you have to count it like a cross stitch. I have decided I am going to get out my markers and mark the design on the canvas.
It is Groundhog Day and Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow so 6 more weeks of winter, at least in PA.
Hope you all are well.

Morning-Faye -hope hair turns out like you want it - I have been using the same hair cutter for over 30 years! If he ever retires I'm screwed! Evening last night was interesting -glad we got the museum passes for free- don't know if I would have paid $13 pp to get in and then buy wine & dinner -there was some wine tasting but the line was long -there was a jazz trio playing music - a short tour of paintings involving food then a short lecture on premium chocolate with a one piece tasting (you could buy a small bar -about hershey sized - for about $22 -we passed!) but did run into a old high school friend & his husband -we have been trying to get together for a while -so made a date for next week dinner.
off to gym then kitties have a vet apt -routine -the hardest part will be catching them! Waving to all -HAGD -CBL

Good morning. Gray cold day here. Ah, the weather in AL. If you don't like it stay around because it will change.
Barb-You can count me in as one who wouldn't pay for what you described. Glad you found an old high school buddy though.
Faye-did you get your hair cut like you did before?
Cathy-I hope you can find a way to continue your harp lessons.
Amy-I've never done a hook rug. What pattern did you get?
Libby-enjoying AZ?
Dutch-is your vacation this month or next?

Hi Down 1.4 lbs. at WI this morning. Journal is really helping me be mindful of what I am doing. I went out with some WW members who meet at Starbucks after the meeting. I don't really like Starbucks but I am making an effort to connect with more people. I tend to hang out with my family and my horse so I am trying to expand my circle a little. I have you all and I love it but we can't really do things together.
Faye- Hope your hair turns out the way you want. Are you staying the same or changing. I had been growing mine out but at the last visit I told my stylist that I am done and want to maintain the current length.
Barb- Your event sounds a little disappointing but you have the silver lining of running into friends and making plans.
Beth- Grey and cold here today. I love seeing your flowers but it will be a while for me. I stopped by the nursery and picked up a St. Valentine's Day themed garden flag to go in the garden near the front door. That is about all the garden color I will have for a while. The rug hook is a scene of a dirt road with country cottages on it and trees.
Cathy- the on line lesson sounds a little difficult. Have you looked for a new local harp teacher?
Libby- Hope you are enjoying AZ!
Dutch- Doing any ground work with Ally?
DD2 and I are going to do a challenge where we are not going to buy any new clothes. We have so much but we still get enticed with ads for more. We want to see how long we can go without buying and also after a while we will see what we hang onto that we don't really wear. She is very good at looking in my closet and coming up with combinations I don't think of so that is helpful.

Hi, all! Faye, it's funny how driving/parking/paying can all have an effect on how you "like" your hairdresser Hope it went well and you like the outcome. Amy, that's awesome re: WL! Good for you! And how nice that DD2 helps with clothes. For me, working from home, I tend to sit in sweatpants and sweatshirts...pretty sad. But saves the budget on clothes Barb, what a lame wine and chocolate party...but as mentioned, at least you found an old school chum...makes it worthwhile! Beth, hear ya about the grey days. We got teased with a lovely week of sunshine, now back to rainy, dreary days. I like the rain, but feel like I'm living in the PNW (no offense, Libby and Dutch!). Libby, enjoy AZ! Dutch, whooo...something to look forward to! It didn't rain much yesterday am so thought I'd go for a walk at a local park, got in the car, started driving, started raining, then poured so turned around. Wasn't in the mood for the gym so dusted and vacuumed instead Will try to swim today. Tomorrow is a demo on watercolor brushes at a local art store (like Amy, I'm trying to get out more). My old teacher was the one who told me about it and was going to come as well, but when I checked with her, she was like "yeah, not coming until Sunday...lots to do". So that's a bust...thought about cancelling but could use the social exposure Sunday is a Superbowl party...bleh. Cathy

CATHY-where's the superbowl party that doesn't seem to entice you much? sorry about the rain. BETH-how was Bible class? I still enjoy my kabbalah class. interesting. it's a combination so how of history of the time period and why and how Kabbalah evolved. AMY-sounds like a fun challenge with DD2. I find i wear the same things and don't know why. I have stuff that just never gets out. GUess some sweaters are favorites. and CONGRATS on the WL!!! keep journaling. How's DD1 doing at work. Is the child that hurt her still in her class? Does she have help? BARB-sounds like a bust for the wine and chocolate except for the friends. sometimes things just don't turn out to be what you think or expect.
so hair is nice I just feel it seems thinner. maybe she thinned it out too much. love the color. Love her. we'll see when I wash it myself
so went to a nutritionist today. very nice and seemed to know a lot. trying to make better choices and I need to take Calcium and D and it affects my tummy so she's giving me suggestions. plus my cholesterol was a bit higher so I think she figured out why (too much cheese). will probably go once more . she's at my wellness center where I work out so close to home (that seems to be my theme for this week !)

I still enjoy my kabbalah class. interesting. it's a combination so how of history of the time period and why and how Kabbalah evolved. We're still studying Isaiah. This lesson is about God telling the people that idols are made of wood and metal and cannot help the people and cannot foretell the future. That's just a thumbnail sketch. There's so much more to it.

Hi all, I went out to eat for 2 meals yesterday and no exercise. I need to slow my roll! I did track everything but the estimations of food I eat out get a little scary because you can't be sure. I was kind of tired and cold so I didn't make it to the barn. I am going riding today. I am also going to the gym for a step class this morning so I will make up for yesterday. Looks like it will be a sunny day which is a mood lifter even if it is cold.
Faye- Parking can be a drag. Sometimes I will skip an event that I am mildly interested in if it is in an area where parking is annoying or way more expensive then I think the event is worth.
Dutch- glad your trip is happening soon.
Cathy- the brush demo could be interesting. It is good to get out too.
Beth- Your Bible class sounds interesting.
Barb- hope you are getting some sunny weather too!
Libby- you are probably warm so I am a little jealous LOL.
Looking forward to seeing Lukas later on today!

Good morning. It's a sunny but cold day. I'll have to fill up the bird feeders today. The Goldfinches are migrating through now on their way north. It's mostly the females at this time. I expect to see the males in about a week or so. they eat a lot of bird seed as they migrate through. I was kind of tired and cold so I didn't make it to the barn. Been there, done that. Cold is no fun (or extreme heat). Faye-I know you have the Torah but do you have the prophet's books to read? If so you can read the chapters I'm reading each week if you are interested. It would be nice to get a Jewish perspective to it.

Good morning, Saturday AMY- have a good ride today. I went to a nutritionist yesterday and liked her a lot. I asked about eating out and said as I get older I have no patience to track or look at carbs etc. so she said do the plate method--1/2 plate veggies, 1/4 protein/ 1/4 carb. did that yesterday (and sort of tracked to stay honest) and did well. if I continue I should have a loss this week. so I agree , eating out is an issue. I don't do it much but my guess is it's all about the portion . I said I love tea and scones and she said do 1/2 a scone and no carbs the rest of the day. So I will give it a try BETH-the birds thank you heading out. waving to all HAGD

Good morning from Arizona Will be warm and sunny today. DH wants to go by the pool, have enjoyed watching all the hikers and bikers go by on the trail outside our place. We got the same room we had last time for most of this stay at the South Mountain Preserve. Went hiking the first morning, had bad elbow tennis pain yesterday, so didn't go. Getting ready to go in a few minutes Enjoy your day

Hi all - Faye - sounds like some good advice on the eating -like you I really don't have patience to track any more -just try to be sensible (most of the time) DH is tracking (of sorts) on his fitbit -but I have to laugh (silently) as he scans the barcodes of some foods, measures his wine -but drinks 2-3 glasses measured, will eat M&M's (that I bring in as I can't resist peanut butter ones) by the handful....no real method to it! oh well! And like you - LOVE my carbs!
Libby -glad you are getting good weather -enjoy it while you can!
Amy -hope you can make it out to barn & ride -for the rest of us! LOL -think you may be the only one right now! Spring can't come soon enough!
Dee & I bagged 18 big bags of shavings this morning in Dee's P/U - the lumber yard had not had any for a long time - and while we have enough stockpiled to get thru April (?) it is always better to get them when we can. They usually charge $2 a bag, but since they know our BM we give them $10 & all is good. DH said he would go w/ me next week and do another load in my car (8-9 bags) if I want-may take him up on it then we will be all set thru summer! I like to have a surplus!

What did you read last week. and i'll see what it looks like. not sure how much incite I can give but curious your take. We can email in case the board isn't up to Bible study Last Wednesday we read Isaiah Chapters 44 through 47. I don't know if your Prophets book will be divided into the same divisions or not. Another comparison you can use is the Christian Bible : Old Testament, Book of Isaiah Chapters 44-47. Then you can see where it might be in the Prophets book. It's about Babylon's Idols versus Israel's God. This week we're studying Chapters 48-50. I'm halfway through the lesson that we'll go over in class on Wednesday. This lesson is about disobedient and obedient servants.

Hi,
Went to a special presentation at WW to learn more uses for the phone app. and got a lot of good tips.
Enjoyed my step aerobics class, I wish they had it at the gym on a more regular basis, I should let them know.
Just did a half hour ride on Lukas yesterday because we have our lesson today. I still find it difficult to keep him consistently on the bit but I think I am improving. It is a work in progress but I am really working at improving. Toward the end of the ride I may have had an "ah ha" moment but we will see if it works today . We have definitely improved our canter departures from the trot.

Good morning -cloudy here today -heading out to clean in a bit- we are having friends over to watch the football game - I don't actually ever watch football-don't understand it -but will sit & read & watch commercials. needless to say my family are Patriots fans -with DS living in Houston -they have had fun this week, DDIL's cousin & nephew (12yrs old) were down visiting them this week -they went to the Patriots hotel & nephew got photos & autographs of some players - he will be a superstar when he gets home. DS was actually thinking of trying to get tickets but guessing DDIL convinced him that that was way too much money! Instead they went to a fancy restaurant last night & saw more players & celebrities!
One of the glass suppliers I don't often use -but is a world wide supplier just notified me that one of the pieces I submitted to them is going to be featured in their spring catalog! I had sent them several photos but they didn't say which one was selected - can't wait to see it - and I get a gift certificate to them as well!
