Good morning - Faye- thanks for getting us going - everyone must be sleeping in from the big game! I am not a football person -but did watch it -as I live w/Patriot fans! Don't know if I mentioned this yesterday as it happened pretty late -but DS was GIVEN a ticket -his friend who I might have mentioned was in had tix (sister works for FOX) and apparently the other person had to drop out -so he asked DS - who at first said -no -but when he talked to his wife (love my DDIL) she said "are you crazy? of course go!" So he did -pretty happy camper this morning -
Just back from gym - going to run some errands -then barn -DH does AARP taxes today -1-7 so I have a nice day to my self!
Waving to all - ride if you can -Libby get on that horse! HAGD - CBL

Good for your DS Barb! That would be exciting!
Was a good game, so Topsy turvy! And I liked the 1/2 time show, Lady Gaga did a great job.
Just soggy out here, tons of rain, but we're lucky and missed the snow/ice (1 foot) they predicted! Ally has at least 3" water everywhere in the pasture and her shelter is about 1/2 flooded. Nothing I can do about it. This too shall pass.

DH and I both are sick. Congestion, coughing up junk, fever, joint aches. We're going to the doc in a little while.

Hi, all! Faye, glad the hair appointment went well. How did your own wash and dry turn out? Barb, that's so exciting about having your work on/in (?) the catalog! Beth, you know your Bible! I always found it very interesting, and liked the different interpretations available Amy, so glad the lessons are going well! Nice re: the transitions. 68 isn't that old, is it? It doesn't seem that far away. Libby, glad you're enjoying the AZ weather. Re: coyotes, I wouldn't worry about them. I've come across a few at a time and they are always kind of skittish. The only time to be worried is if one is rabid; then they don't act per their nature. Dutch, hear ya about the rain...it just POURED again last night, over and over and over...I didn't mention this but last weekend on my way to mom and dad's, I passed by the local reservoir and some of the trees along the water line were now underwater...so full! So, the Superbowl Party (local, friends of friends - they had the fun Xmas party). I ended bagging it...Saturday was so busy with shopping and the brush demo (very interesting), plus add'l errands, I just didn't want to go. I hiked yesterday morning, which got me tired, then I made this crab and artichoke dip for the party and just lost forward momentum. I honestly hate going out late Sundays...it's hard for me to be away from home at that time. Throwback to when I had to go into work early on Monday's, I guess. And I honestly don't like football. I did a lot of cleaning Saturday as well so my watercolor station has been straightened, time to work on brother's picture again Cathy

We both have the FLU! DH took the flu shot in the fall and I don't take one due to it having Thimerosal in it and I'm allergic to it. DH is off from driving the bus at least through Wednesday.

Hi All,
Beth and Faye, I hope the DH's get better soon.
Libby- I hope the tennis elbow calms down. Have you ever used one of those thin bands you can wrap around your arm? I got one at the drug store last year and it seemed to help. Go ride the horse!
I thought Lady Gaga did a good job and she obviously does not have a fear of heights! The drone lights were very cool. I didn't understand how they were doing the lights in the sky at first.
DH and I have a tradition of eating snacks as dinner for the Super Bowl but I was able to keep within points using shrimp cocktail, chicken meatballs, baked chips etc. DH really liked the meatballs.
Faye- the special WW meeting was very good, I learned a lot more about the app and things I will use
Barb- congrats on your glass art being featured!
Cathy- Did you end up going to the brush demonstration?
Had a good lesson. Was complimented on my canter departures which are going very well even from the trot. If you remember when I first bought him I could not get him to canter from the trot. Things to work on more this week is my sitting trot (ugh) and the ongoing "head set" project. I enjoyed jumping him in my lesson. My trainer gave me a change in jump course and I said "OK" and then rode the course I had just completed. Oops! I thought I did it rather well but then remembered after the last jump that I was "off course". LOL. My trainer... "OK now lets do the course I gave you".
My friend at the barn, Karen, who also does not go to FL and who just turned 68 takes her lesson after mine. She goes over small jumps and is doing so well. She does not have an easy horse. I hope I am still riding at 68.
The schedule at the office looked light so I am home this morning but know I might be called in if there are pain patients who call in for a spot. Not an unusual occurrence on a Monday. I am happy to get some home projects done.
yup, not surprised I got called in. I copied and pasted the above post from last weeks board since I accidently put it there this morning.

Good morning - the snow is starting here - still just a light dusting but schools were closed in anticipation of much worse thru the day! Amy - may have asked you but does the trainer(s) ever ride Lukas in lessons? (watch what you say about "old" riders" since I turned 65 in Dec! LOL ) So envious of you still riding this time of year!
DH is trying to figure out my Ipod -which I really never use unless I am at the gym & Tundra kind of mangled when we first got her -it plays music (at least it did until yesterday) but the screen is damaged so that I can't see what is on it (or if it is on,etc!) I never even loaded it to my new (2 yrs ago) computer -can't decide if I want to spend the money for a new one.
We are having ALL 18 windows (including 4 very large picture windows) replaced next week -they said it will most likely take 4-5 days.going to be a mess!
Cathy -brush demo? interesting Faye - good that you like the color -I am in flux w/ my hair cut & color -not sure what I want to do with it. Beth -hope you & DH feel better soon Dutch - hope the water recedes soon - I think I hate mud worse than ice! Libby -take that ride!

Hi horse lovers, glad I'm not home, they got 6 inches of snow and the power was out for 15 hours! I'll take this 70 degree weather anyday!! Just talked to my friend that I met in Fairbanks, AK when I was 18 years old! She lives in Florence, about 45 minutes from here. We are going there tomorrow and her dh (who my son calls Uncle)is taking him fishing They have a beautiful home in a planned community - they also have the prison program there where they tame wild mustangs. I wonder if they would give a tour? DS's cold is a lot better! I've been sniffling= I'm not going to get it!!!! DH has a Spanish class at the RV resort this morning, I'd better go get ready. I got a new IPhone 7 yesterday, so I need to upload all my stuff on it, I think I'll sit by the pool and do that while he is in this class. Then may be trail riding! HAGD everyone!

Hi, all! Faye, glad you like the color of your hair...that's half the battle! Is your DH sick as well? Beth, so sorry...I hope you both feel better soon! Don't take on anything until you're better...lie around, drink fluids, rest. Amy, glad the lessons are going well! Nice that you were able to keep in check (food-wise) during the game. Is the new WW working for you? Do you sense the differences? That's what they are promoting on TV. Libby, so glad you're enjoying the weather in AZ. Have fun visiting old friend from AK! And YES, do the trail ride! Can you get a brace while you're down there or are they special order? Barb, if you USE an iPod I would get a new one. I have an old Nano that I don't use anymore because my music is on my phone. That way, when I fall when walking (har har) I can call for help instead of borrowing some passerby's phone I'm gonna rant: I live in a townhouse community. My understanding is that the "front yards" are common areas (but I'm going to call the property manager to find out for sure). I have the climbing tree; this wasn't disclosed when I bought the TH, I was TOLD this by one of the parents of the kids who like to climb it. But things don't end there...they also PLAY ALL THE TIME in my "front yard". They're killing the grass by pulling at it, moving the river rocks around that are supposed to be a small retaining wall, and yesterday I found that one of the little ratfinks is sticking large sticks directly into the dirt, possibly killing the roots of the plants holding the dirt in front of my stairs. These are 3 foot sticks, 1 inch in diameter, so this takes a lot of work. When I saw this, it was the LAST straw. I couldn't sleep last night because I was so angry!! Does anyone live in a townhouse and has ever had to deal with this? I am going to call the property manager, but I can't understand why they always play here! They have perfectly good LEVEL yards to play in. I'm done with it... OK, rant over...except, the rain...all night long, all day today. Was going to try to swim but I'm better the water level is over the top of the pool I wonder if it's cold? I guess I could take my rash guard just in case? Sigh...back to work. Cathy

CATHY-you really need to find out about the kids playing because what if one gets hurt and it's "your" property. Maybe also see who sold you the TH and see why that was not disclosed to you or if they know anything. Just a thought and good luck . DH was sick but went back to work today. BETH-feel better. hope you and DH are on the mend soon. they said on the news this AM it's a really bad flu strain and there are 6-8 wks more to flu season. Take care LIBBY-glad DS is better. Has DH been taking spanish class for a while? wish I remembered my spanish from college. Don't remember that but my french from JHS and HS I remember. maybe because I took it longer or I had younger brain cells LOL BARB-we have rain and fog. supposed to be 60 deg. tomorrow and then snow Thurs around 4AM thru the day. good luck with the windows. hope it's not cold or windy day when you are getting it done. we had it done years ago.
AMY-have a good lesson. how are the geese getting along? DUTCH-hope it dries out. Do you check Allie's hoofs with such wet weather?
Good workout. doing laundry and trying to rest. it's been a long weekend.

DUTCH- I just meant i thought there were either antifungal or some sort of drops if the water bothered her hooves. I never owned a horse, just remembered what they did at the barn. CATHY- hope you hear soon. BETH-hope you and DH are feeling better. LIBBY-hope DS is better.
we are supposed to get 4-10 inches starting around midnight so going to the store after harp and then staying in.

HI all - yes Faye- snow expected here tomorrow too 8-10" CRAP - I HATE snow -today will play "blanket bingo" with Penny - sheet for most of the day -then around supper time switch to heavy weight & hope she stays dry (her extra heavy blanket is not quite waterproof anymore!)
Cathy - yes - you need to find out about the yard issue -as someone else said -if it's "your" yard/tree & a kid gets hurt -guess who's insurance gets the hit? Dutch- you are right not much you can do about her hooves in the wet weather- I always feel bad when Penny is standing in snow or mud -but it is what it is! Beth - how are you & DH feeling? Libby - did you take that ride? How was meeting with your friend?
Heading out to pick up some glass from a shop -it's been there since September & hasn't sold - only 9 pieces but still sad!
HAGD - stay safe, warm - ride if you can (Amy!) CBL

Hi horse lovers, We are going to Florence tomorrow instead Today, I'm going to hang out at the pool-and unfortunately I'm going to have to pack up everything as we might have to move to another unit. This one was already booked from the 9th on......sad, I love this unit It will be OK, I just won't have the same view and won't have a roll-in shower for ds. The front office is working on letting us stay-they won't tell us until the 9th so, I have to pack tonight as we will be off to Florence on the 9th, when we come back it will be figured out! oiyah! Cathy; I don't think that kids destroying your front yard should be tolerated. Is there a playground? climbing tree's and broken arms go hand in hand! There should be XX # of inches of ground cover (chips, sand, etc) under any surface where children are climbing according to any safety manual for playgrounds! I would use that as your rationale for them to not play there-ie: head injuries!! Faye; not sure which day we are going to the musical instrument museum, it might rain here on Saturday, to that might be the day. I'll take pictures of the harp if allowed! It's in Scottsdale, about 30 mins away and is said to be the best museum of it's type in the country? Barb; I didn't blanket the horses before I left, it has been snowy and cold at home! Kind of wish I would have. It's going to warm up there now. Hope penny stays dry! Beth; are you two getting better? I've been using zinc and Vit C and B vit's and trying to stay well! Amy; I'm so impressed with your riding! Makes me want to take lessons again! Dutch; I put gravel 5/8- in my paddocks and it helps with the mud. Maybe next year? I think today is the day I will go trail riding HAGD everyone!

DUTCH- I just meant i thought there were either antifungal or some sort of drops if the water bothered her hooves. I never owned a horse, just remembered what they did at the barn. No, it's likely a good point. I'll keep an eye on it. Good news is I see about 4-5 dry days in our future! Dutch; I put gravel 5/8- in my paddocks and it helps with the mud. Maybe next year? It's a thought. At least I don't have mud (yet!?). I placed 2 stall mats infront of the shelter opening so that should stay mud free. Its' all wet, regardless.

Hi All,
Beth- it is concerning that you both are sick. Have you seen any improvement? Remember that it is good to ask for help if you need it, don't wait too long.!
Dutch- Not much can be done about the weather. I am glad you have some dry days coming.
Libby- the museum sounds very interesting. I love when somethings happens, like winning tickets, and you get to do something you never would have done otherwise. Have Fun!
Cathy- can you talk to the parents of the kids and ask them to have their kids play in front of their own homes? This might not be an option depending on the attitude of the parents. If you are in a condo situation where they take care of the lawn and tree you could tell them the

Hi, all! Faye and Barb, stay safe in the snow storm. I love the commercials where the moms have the kids at the store because a big storm is coming through and last stop before checkout is the liquor aisle Beth! Please take care of yourselves! I did speak with the property manager and she sounded awful! She was out 5 days with the flue...it's a bad one. Dutch, yeah, I hated the muddy season. Had a horse with 4 white socks, so their feet tend to crappy on a good day. The stall mats should help. Take care! Libby, bummer about having to move condos...I hope they let you stay, especially because of the shower situation. Let us know how the trail ride goes. And in Florence...is that where your friends are? Just have fun!!! Hi to Amy! So as mentioned, I did talk to the property manager. The landscaping in front of each TH is a common area, maintained by the HOA. I told her what was happening and she was very concerned about 1) safety of the kids climbing the tree, 2) destruction and 3) my piece-of-mind, so yeah, good talk. I guess in the past, she would send a letter to the homeowner/tenant and go from there. But there are new HOA board members who are supportive of the kids and would prefer to meet face-to-face with the parents. I guess one of them is on vacation though so will need to wait until next week. I also asked that one of them come by so that I could show them what's going on. There is a local playground out in front of the community, down the hill. Lots of moms/dads use it for their little kids. I'm assuming the parents on this street are too...lazy? to go down their with their kids. They certainly don't oversee what their kids are doing on their own street. I will become the neighborhood pariah, I'm sure I did swim yesterday...that was pretty crazy! The water level was at the top of the pool, and was a bit cool, but took and swam in my rash guard, so stayed warm. Cathy

CATHY-hope things work out with the parents . glad you let her know what's going on. and yes, I heard this year's flu strain is pretty bad. LIBBY-sorry you may need to switch. maybe if the people going in to it know about the shower and don't need it they'll let you keep it. sorry you have to pack regardless. have fun in florence. and the museum when you go. the mustang ranch sounds interesting but why is it associated with a prison. you lost me on that one. BETH-do take care. I'm with LIbby on the zinc. BARB-happy glass shopping. hope we both do ok in the storm coming. shops are starting to send out there, "we will be closed" emails.
had a really good harp lesson and she's near a Trader Joe and Whole foods so I'm stocked up for the storm. it wasn't very crowded so I was pleasantly surprised. DH is better so moving along here.

Good morning Thursday
Already have a few inches of snow and coming down 3" per hour. going to be something. BARB-how's it going by you? DUTCH-thanks. I was just curious if there was any med or pre-treat for snow drops for horses. As I said, i never owned, just watched what my trainer did with her horses. so it was interesting to me--even all the different liners and blankets and fly masks. found it interesting since I knew nothing. I rode in my teens and 20s in NY and the stables hand you the horse tacked up and you get off and hand the horse back. But when I started in NJ she taught me to groom etc. hope it dries out a bit by you
BETH-how are you and DH doing? better I hope LIBBY-saw you on the desert trail. looked nice. how long a ride? CATHY-did you start DB's painting? AMY-how's the journaling going?
waving to all. HAGD
