The city of Auburn is awesome! They may be slow to act, yet they are following thru! The neighbor and I have been calling and complaining about the homeless camp getting re-occupied. This morning a big tractor and 2 huge dump trucks just showed up to clear it out again! I'm beyond happy!! I was going to ride Rosie yesterday, yet my dad's wife called to visit and my brother was stopping by, so it was a social day instead. Horses got new shoes, I went and bought grain, supplement and will be ordering more hay for when I'm gone It's raining and the back is flooded by the barn, I turned the little pump on and expect it will have a hard time keeping up with draining-need to drain it for the hay truck! We got water, mudslides, down trees and the northeast has snow storm - where is this Spring? Amy; thanks for the words of confidence on Rosie, She will be 18 years old April 7th and I'm realizing she has some big gaps in her training. We always started at a trot when I was taking weekly lessons when she was young. I guess my trainer didn't want to deal with her not walking. She was learning awesome dressage moves, yet couldn't walk! Wow, another big piece of equipment showed up for the clean up! They are serious!! Police just went in with lights and loud speakers! There is never a dull moment living here lol I'm watching on my security camera Faye and Barb; stay safe with all the snow! Commuter traffic here was a mess today with all the rain and accidents! Glad I'm not part of that anymore (Praise God!) Cathy; I'm glad you are painting again! Beth; Heal up and don't do to much- relapse is not a good thing! Dutch; have a safe trip! Wave to all!

BETH-so glad you and DH are better. BARB-glad the tooth is ok. not sure how much snow we have. less than the 24" but probably over a foot. I think it's flurrying now. have fun with DDIL AMY-i'm down too. either the snow or the cold or whatever. Practicing the harp perks me up. I like Brian boru's march I also play something called "harp Schlepper's rag" that's kind of fun. DUTCH-wishing you a safe flight and wonderful vacation. LIBBY-glad DB helped Lucy. CATHY-any news on the insurance and mold situation? waving to all. Staying in , things may be a bit icy and I have a busy day tomorrow so I'll get out. and it's COLD! Friday I have a gig so may as well stay in today. HAGD

Hi, all! Beth, love it...on the road to pneumonia but wants to go to choir practice I guess he's feeling better. Faye, thanks for the Charlotte update! And the extra harp music suggestions. Glad you've weathered the storm OK (and to goes for all the Nor'easters)! Barb, gotcha! I forgot about the semi-rough barn. Hope you make lunch with DDIL! Good luck with the tack sale. I gave a lot of my stuff to a charity that sells to make money for the disabled riding group. It was hard to give up the tall riding boots that I couldn't fit in anymore but perfectly content to get rid of britches and bits and stuff. Libby, one week before the cabinets come. Um...if you leave Monday, who will be there to take of cabinet installation on Wednesday? Amy, it's nice to know Lukas is taken care of in inclement weather. I know how you feel, the rain here was driving me crazy. We've had a nice week (in the 70's) so feel better, but I guess the rain is coming back next week Hi to Dutch! Yesterday the weeds in the "backyard" were knee high...today they are a scant 2 inches. Got a string trimmer and cleaned up the mess. Looks better, plus when the fence guys come next week, they won't have to deal with the long grass Cloudy today...supposed to be warm through the rest of the week but because of clouds, totally overslept this morning. I guess the time change finally caught up with me! Cathy

Hi All, Tomorrow is "match day" for graduating med. students. The wife of the young dentist at my husbands office is going to find out where she matched. We are all hoping it is in the area and the Associate dentist can look to buying into the practice which he would like to do. If she matches too far away they will have to move and he will have to start over somewhere else. Then my husband is back to square one and will have to find another associate. Not that easy because you have to find the right one. My DH would like to be able to retire in about 9 years and sell his practice to a younger partner but first you have to have a younger partner. So St. Patrick's Day is a little more significant for us this year. We will be wearing the green tomorrow!

Cold, Cold, Cold! This batch of snow was wet, heavy and solid! Even with the strips on the shed there was some snow blown into it -and the horses have made very few paths -from the shed to the gate to the back nets. Hopefully today they will venture out a bit more. Amy - yes I know sooner is better -I will be working on it -tooth is fine today -but I know.....
Faye- concert tomorrow? break a leg (do you say that to harpists?) Beth-stay healthy/
Floor guy here -another estimate - more later

Hi again,
Unexpected day off work, I am not complaining. I am going to try and get out to ride today. I will give them time to reopen the road that was drifted over.
Barb- I got a text from the barn yesterday that Lukas and mini donkey were tucked into their run in shed most of the day which is unusual so you know the wind was really bad. Your guys were pretty smart to hang inside, they will make new trails soon. Come on spring!
Cathy- good job with the string trimmer. This is the time of year when I think I can't wait to do some yard work. That feeling wears off after a few weeks of actually doing it. LOL.
Faye- Have a great gig tomorrow. Libby- safe travels. Hi to Beth and Dutch
time to put my extra day off to good use.

Woke up at 4 am and remembered that the sump pump was still on and it had quit raining during the early evening. Ran out and it was going really loud! Unplugged it (plugged in at the barn) threw the horses a snack and Lucy kept snorting, so I knew something was up. She had knocked down the electric fence in her stall again. I unplugged it and just now reset the tape in her stall. It's a cool spring morning here, sun is out and birds are singing, I saw a bald eagle flying overhead. I'll go pick up all my pruning limbs I lopped off between rainstorms this week. Very peaceful feeling knowing no one is sleeping in the back lot! I wrote a nice thank you letter to the city and they wrote back and said they appreciate the thank you! Will take a lesson on Rosie tonight, nervous that I'll get frustrated with her again! HAGD everyone!

Hi, all! Faye, I guess your busy day has started...what was on the menu? Beth, yeah, being sick for a while can be very depressing. They say money fixes everything but if you don't have your health, there's not enough money in the world to make you feel better. Get back to things soon! Libby, how nice of you to write a thank you to the city AND get a response. Bet they'll be willing to help you again when the time comes! Glad you have someone watching over the kitchen work while you're gone! Barb, see...horses aren't as dumb as we think they are...sometimes. Love that they stayed inside when it was cold. My dad was told he needed another root canal...he's waiting for it to get worse before doing something about it. Says it doesn't hurt but the surgeon is bugging him. Amy, hope you get a ride in today! Interesting about how dentists get assistants...never knew that. My dentist doesn't seem to have anyone else working with him so I'm guessing he's still too young to worry about retiring. Hi to Dutch! I'm really struggling with activity. Was going to walk yesterday, then wasn't then was then...you get it. Finally went for a walk to get away from the cat, who is feeling exceptional well Will try to go swimming today. Feeling unhappy with myself and my weight. Not quite sure what to do as it seems to be turning to belly fat, which I never had before. Hard to get rid of and look good. Have to figure out how not to starve myself to lose weight and not rely on exercise to do it. Faye, I was reading about fasting again...do you still do juice fasts? Cathy

AMY-cute photo of Lukas and pal on FB. that's a lot of snow BETH-glad DH is better. did you start the project? do you have a deadline? LIBBY-very nice of you to write a thank you note. CATHY-Had my Kabbalah class then later went to Pilates but she had a cold and I backed out of that room faster than an Olympic sprinter. so picked up fish on the way home. Massage in a few minutes. Funny you ask about juice fast. I don't really have it in me any more but I just ordered 2 juices and will try to have one for lunch and one for dinner this weekend to give myself a fresh start. I like my Bran buds in the AM.. OH, I'm watching 2 deer cross the street as I type this. (I'm suburban but we have deer and fox and the occasional bear) I hear you about the weight issues, me too. Exercise is not my problem but eating got a bit out of control.
BARB-hope all was good at the barn hope your tooth stays happy
so for yoga and massage at the house, they used to both either have a studio or salon and they each sold them so now they come to the house. Know them both over 10 yrs!

Good Morning - & Happy St Patty's Day to those who celebrate! Although they say on this day everyone is Irish! Faye- I'm so intrigued about your yoga, pilates & massages! never done the first 2 - don't like the last! Have a good show tonight!
Libby your ponies are keeping you on your toes -good thing Lucy didn't make a break for it with the fence down. I guess we (Dee & I ) are lucky our two are too lazy to try to break out -there is stringing for electric fencing but hasn't been used for years since the crazy draft filly (old timers here may remember that fiasco!) And good thing since our fencing is less than solid -in some parts it's just a stone wall covered with heavy brush!
Dutch -think you are leaving this weekend (or did she leave?) Amy that was a cute photo of Lukas & his pal -it's good they have each other! Cathy -hope you get your swim in -I have not been to Y all this week -due to snow & tooth (update on that -it doesn't hurt in the morning but by night time it's a dull throb - and yes, Amy - I will call my dentist next week! ) Beth-hang in there - spring is coming!
Off to clean then Upreach - DH & I going to a wine tasting event tonight

Happy St. Patrick's Day one day late.
DH and I went out for lunch with DD1 but to Outback so not very Irish. I was feeling a little run down yesterday so no barn. I was down 2 lbs. at WI but this is "old" weight being lost yet again. I made an appointment with a nutritionist on Wednesday. Hoping to pick up some good information and maybe see if I am eating something I think is good but is not so good after all.
The bit arrived yesterday. I am going to try it out today and see if Lukas goes well in it. I am hoping with the copper "bean" in the middle he will like it. The finishing brush I bought is very lux so I am happy with that. I also got a second girth so one can be cleaned while the other is in use. 20 percent off everything so I am pretty pleased.
My main trainer called me to say I should hold off on writing next months board check until I hear from her. I was paying the farm but she said that accountant for the estate has not deposited any of the board checks or paid any of the bills. It is still fairly recent but they need to get things going. This is an ongoing business. I guess the feed company contacted her. She also told me if any of his kids would stop by the barn that I am to just say that I deal with trainer directly. I doubt they would stop by and so does she but you never know. I also realized that I never signed a board contract that lists Lukas. I only signed one with my first horse Gio who is not there anymore. We just extended it verbally to "one horse owned by Amy" I guess. The lawyers are probably sorting through the contracts. Who knows, the whole thing makes me a little nervous.
Barb- I loved the green writing for the day. Glad it was a pretty day for you and I often wait until after the barn for my real shower, just makes sense.
Faye- you looked so nice in the photo! Glad the show went well and the help to the car was a real bonus!
Libby- hope you enjoyed lunch and that your meeting went well.
Beth- Glad you and DH are on the mend. Did he go sing after all?
Cathy- How is the yard situation? I hope improved. Have you set a day to meet your duet partner?
Should be a mix of rain and snow at the barn today. Blah. I will go out in the afternoon when it will still be a mess but maybe warmer.

hmmm, site froze and my post went away! Got hay in the barn, didn't get to ride yesterday Heidi lunged her for me. Katie still hasn't signed the lease agreement (her parents) she's 16 yo. I asked her about it and she hasn't responded yet. Heidi told me she has been getting hives at the barn - not a good sign! I was hoping to have her ride Rosie during the next 2 1/2 weeks while I'm in AZ Will go to see Rosie today, It's pouring outside! Saddle club is having a work party. In the rain! I told them to switch it to Sunday, as it's forecasted for sun, nobody wanted to do that except me. Oh well! Cathy; thinking about you with a nasty blister on the back of my heel from wearing my boots w/o zipping up - won't do that again! Finishing up some kitchen packing. Wave to all!

Hi all - just back from a short ride (1/2 hr -about 1.3miles- thanks to my tracker!) the main trail had been snowmobiled - but once we tried to go off it was deep & the other horse has Cushings so we didn't want him to get too hot -so we turned back - Penny was a little jiggy but walked -baby steps!
Wine tasting last night was fine -we only stayed about an hour -you can only taste so much wine before you have to decide -can I drive home? we went to a close by Chinese restaurant had soup & 2 appetizers and then went home!
Amy - hope this sorts out for you at the barn -is holding up on board just to straighten out the estate thing or is there a chance you might have to move? (FYI- while my tooth is somewhat better I am calling my dentist on Monday!)
Faye- how was your concert? Libby -hope you can sort all the horse stuff out before you leave so that you are feeling good about it all.
Waving to Beth & Cathy - HAGD - CBL

BARB-once DH and I did a wine pairing so every course had a small amount of a different wine. it was very interesting but it was in the hotel we were staying in so no driving necessary. I'm not a drinker so I mostly tasted. hope you had fun. show went well. they asked me back for an event to do background next month so that's nice. And there were Irish dancers (kids) after me so the gentelman with them helped me downstairs with my stuff so that was terrific. busy practicing for the one hour background now. glad you got to ride. AMY-CONGRATS on the WL. ok so it's back to where you were but Hey, it's back to where you were and not above it. Now just keep going. not gaining is half the battle. have other boarders been talking about the barn? are they looking to go elsewhere? sorry it's so up in the air. hope you know something soon. LIBBY-good luck finishing packing. CATHY-did you make arrangements to meet the harp duet buddy? BETH-hope you and DH continue to improve and feel better. Got a lot done today. Brought a dress in to a new dressmaker for some alterations so hope that works out. then did a craft fair and got some truffle oil Waving to all HAGD

Hi, all! Had jury duty yesterday and was just wiped when all was done. I didn't get picked and my name was actually LAST on the random list of jurors! That's never happened! Faye, glad the show went well. I got the Kim Robertson book yesterday but haven't cracked it open yet...will do in a bit. Glad you have an alterations person. I have a mom who sometimes gets it right Amy, yes, loosing, no matter where the pounds came from, is better than gaining so good for you! I hope the barn finances get sorted out soon...that's all you need, more stress! Barb, I do like wine tasting but I'm a light-weight so it doesn't take me too long to get beyond the driving-safely phase. The last time I went with friends, we went to dinner after (someone else drove us) and then I was OK to drive. Libby, sorry about the blister...they are a nuisance. I see the podiatrist again on Monday so I guess I'll get another shot and we'll talk about surgery. I just don't want to give up my hiking...it's all I have left!!!! Beth, ah...cleaning out the bus. Sounds romantic! Glad you're both feeling better! The landscape issue in one respect is better...the kids aren't playing there for the time being. I also talked to "other" mom who's kids aren't destructive. I wanted her to know that it wasn't her kids; apparently no one mentioned anything to her anyway. Now I have to decide if I want to do any planting; I haven't heard a word from the board or the landscape folks. So yesterday I went to bed a 9:30pm and woke this morning at 8:30am. I think I was dehydrated (not enough water yesterday) because had a headache. Just needed the sleep I guess but my day is all messed up, so will just kind of hang out and keep the cat company I might try a mt bike ride Sunday, just along the bluffs. The rain is supposed to return next week...bleh. Cathy

Hi all, I tried the new bit. I didn't think it made much difference. Then Lukas had his sassy pants on when it came time to canter. He has had these days with the other bit too but I couldn't be sure so I changed bits. then I got a stick, then he decided to behave. I don't really have to use the stick, just hold it. Then once he behaved we jumped some and ended on a good note. Rode much longer then planned but I wanted him going well before I stopped. When I put him back in his stall to change the bit I think he thought he had "won" the day. then I took him back to the indoor. He may have been surprised a little. I got the bit from Smartpak so I think I can send it back.
Trainer wants me to hold off writing the board check because she might want it made out to her instead of the barn. The estate has not paid the bills or deposited our board checks for March yet. She needs to get hay delivered and if the estate isn't paying bills she may have to pay. Her horse sales and training business was kept separate from the boarding business which was her fiancé's business since he owned the property. Since he left 1/3 of the property to her I don't think they can straight out kick her out of the barn. It does muddy things up though. I feel sorry she has to deal with all this. I would hate to have to move and I don't know where I would go. It would be hard to find a place as nice.
Cathy- would you be able to swim after the surgery heals? Can you hike or bike eventually after you recover?
Faye-What do you do with the truffle oil?
Libby - I hope you can figure out a good horse plan before you leave. Is there another riding student that could ride your horses for you? Have fun in AZ!
Barb- Did you find any wine that you really liked? I do like to be able to taste before buying.
Beth- any bird feeder news? I still haven't put up the bird house, I better hurry up or I won't get any tenants.
This weather is getting depressing....cone on spring! lesson tomorrow. For some reason I think it will be a fun one. I hope I am right.

AMY-I saw there was a recipe on line about Oprah making potato chips with truffle oil (or maybe salt, but the salt was too salty for me). so I bought it. I made it with asparagus tonight, no real difference so maybe not much to it. I'll try to look it up on Food network. sorry about the bit. snowing here, yes snow. I'm sick of it and cold. it's pretty but it's pretty in January, not the middle of March. oh well. I think a nutritionist is a good idea. good luck with that too LIBBY- hope you get a contract signed soon for Heidi. like Amy, it's hard to be up in the air. I hate waiting. CATHY-glad you weren't picked. what kind of foot surgery and how long will you be out of commission? enjoy the harp book.
waving to all. HAGE

Finally a sunny day!! It was a full day yesterday and I got into bed exhausted! I'm feeling old this morning with all the aches and pains! Rode Rosie last night, she was really good! We didn't canter, just practicing the walk, trot. I just have to take a few pictures down and get the stuff out from under the sink and then I'm pretty much done, other than taping the floor protection in the living room. I need help with the Thomas Kincaid picture over the fireplace, it's big and bulky-if anyone comes over to visit today I'll grab them lol It's a nice picture of a cabin and stream in the mountains. Amy; may be you can try out some different bits at the barn? I've bought so many in the past that haven't worked well! End up donating them Leave to AZ tomorrow morning Wave to Beth, Barb, Faye, Dutch, Cathy! HAGD!
