Good morning-
It was a wonderful birthday weekend. Tea at the Plaza, then NY historical society. Exhibits were Eloise (LIBBY do you read those books to DGDs??), chitty chitty bang bang, and Tiffany lamps(2 floors that went on forever. lots of lamps). then slept over at DD and Sunday was brunch/ WarPaint/dinner. We walked everywhere so burned of some of the dessert calories. Laundry is now up and practicing harp! Pilates later this morning.
just skimmed board, will have to go back. BARB-sorry about computer. will have to read to see if it's ok LIBBY-hope you get someone to watch the horses. CATHY-didn't know you had prism. hope the new lighter glasses do the trick. Good luck with dr. for feet, is appt tomorrow??
will go read board later. need to get laundry moving and finish unpacking.
thanks for the birthday wishes. it was a lovely weekend.

OH--and don't forget, don't look at the eclipse unless you have official protective lenses. there were many counterfeit ones out there. you really can fry your retina and other parts of the eye if you look at the eclipse without proper protection. they say birds and animals will be confused so hope the horses are ok as well. eclipse2017.nasa.gov/eclipse-live-stream LIve fee starting at noon. and it said keep pets inside

Hi All,
I am trying to make good food choices but not tracking which isn't good. I am tracking today! I also have not gotten to the gym as much so I am going to try and correct that today too. I was up 1.5 lbs at weigh in on Friday, not good!
Lukas and I are not doing the championship show we for which we qualified. Lots of reasons make it a good decision. We will have the chance to show at that venue later on this year for the year end show of the local rated shows so I will still meet my goal of showing at the Farm Show Complex. (where the famous Harrisburg National Horse Show.
Lukas is being a very good boy these days. He will be in his stall during peak eclipse time so I don't think he will notice. HA! It is supposed to be cloudy today so I may skip making the shoebox viewer and just watch on TV a little.
The visiting guys had fun at the golf tournament. They actually slept in the guest beds this year. Last year they fell asleep watching a movie and slept on the sofas all night. LOL.
Faye- Your birthday celebration sounds so great! Many happy returns of the day!
Libby- I almost hate to bring it up but I hope your kitchen is moving along toward completion. It has to be stressful. Is there anything you can do to make squatting on the land less comfortable? Ever thought about raising roosters? LOL Good plan counting chips I will have to do that the next time!
Beth- When my son was in first grade the older boys in the back of the bus convinced him to open the emergency door in the back of the bus and then pointed the finger at him. The bus driver did not fall for it and the older kids got in trouble. The next year they assigned seats which cut back on problems.
Barb- How was the show? I hope you had fun and sold a lot. I was just admiring the plate I bought from you the other day, I still love it.
Cathy- Does the pool reopen this week. I hope it sparkles. I am sorry about your foot pain, I am sure you will be glad to get back to swimming. Have you made any decisions about your brothers painting?
Dutch- Cooler weather ahead! Hope all is going well with DS in school.
HAGD everyone!

Hi all!
Faye, glad you had a good weekend...it did sound wonderful! Podiatrist is Thursday. Amy, I have also been a little lax in my healthy eating. Time to restart that; don't want to regain all the hard work I did!! The pool reopened yesterday. I may not get there until tomorrow. Hi to everyone else!
Lots of meetings today, early training session, will be mentally tired quite soon after lunch. Overcast so no eclipse viewing for us either.

Hi all- caught up from the weekend- it poured Friday for set up - I only put up the tent (usually would do the sides & tables) by Sat morning it was foggy but no rain -so did the rest (sides, tables & glass) and DH had decided NOT to help so my friend & I helped each other Friday, & I got some others to help me Sat put up & take down -to be honest it almost was easier -just longer so I am done asking him. That being said he offered to come Sunday & help take down the tent -so I let him but will not rely on him for the last outdoor show & any indoor ones. (The outdoor one will have boy scouts to help) Saturday was slower than last year - I was down a bit -Sunday picked up -again down a bit -but overall it was a good show (last year was a particularly excellent one) so I was happy. Both days were hot & humid - I was a wet rag when I got home! But counting the money helps!
Penny got her shoes back on on Friday -when the farrier went to do the old paint on the other side there were "things" on him -she thought maybe mites or lice -so she wouldn't do him -didn't want to pick up what ever they were. After talking to the owner she thinks they are lice -I guess you treat them like w/ Kids -shampoos....glad Penny & Skip are in a separate pasture!
We did a quick ride this morning -quick as the bugs were on the bad side.
Will go back later & see what you all were up to over the weekend -
Faye -your birthday photos looked great -glad you had so much fun!
Amy -you have to make decisions that are right for you and Lukas -there will be lots of time for shows -just keep having fun
Waving to the rest -be careful about watching the eclipse -TTFN

Good afternoon. I've stayed inside during the eclipse and watched it on TV. My pole beans are really producing and I've mostly been freezing them (except when I cook them fresh and eat them.
I have an order of several umbrellas. I ended up ordering a case of them. All black. I need to get them finished and mailed out before the 30th.
Our new mattress comes tomorrow and Bible study starts Wednesday. Yes I'm still walking in the mornings. This morning it was 76 at 6am.

Hi, the girls have been keeping me busy! Having a brunch today with our snowbird friends, they are leaving pretty soon. I made a bisquick quiche with ham and spinach this morning and a berry mixture. She is bringing Danish. The little girls are making solar eclipse cupcakes 10 yr has made signs and says it's a solar eclipse party Had 3 people come over to see horses from my ad that I needed help. Two live too far away, the other one doesn't have a horse, would help out in a pinch. Oh and another one has 2 horses and I told her no, we only have room for one! Heidi's one horse turned into 3! I don't want to do that again. DH is being a jerk about how much it will cost to board them. HAGD everyone, have to go put the quiche in the oven!

Hi, all! Faye, I must admit I kind of let the whole eclipse thing wash over me. I was busy and it was cloudy so...there you go. Had a harp lesson yesterday; I guess it's time to start using the metronome...just to keep me honest Our harp circle meets Sunday afternoon. Beth, glad you got the umbrella order! Green beans at the grocery have been very...iffy. Some weeks they are good, other weeks I avoid them. I really would like to grow my own...must get that organized for next year! Hope the walking is going well and good luck with the new mattress! Amy, looks like everyone is back at the office, which is nice as it frees you up! Have a good ride this morning. Barb, yeah, if the help is there for setup/breakdown, might as well use it. I wonder if your DH will feel left out if he doesn't have that to complain about I wondered about that too...where would the paint get lice? I've never heard of a horse with lice before. Hi to everyone who follows! Going to the pool today! Yay! I can tell I've missed it...gained some of that weight back even though I walked more. The sun is out this morning (of course, it wouldn't come out yesterday) and the heater came on...kind of chilly, so weird weather for August. Brother's painting is done! I don't want to post it on FB since I have to give it to him first. Ex SILs mom is doing a little better, getting some PT and I guess SIL hears from the oncologist later today. Will check in at the end of week, about visiting. Cathy

Cathy - glad you can get back to the pool -enjoy - a good way to cool off -
Amy hope you had a good ride -we rode early as well - on by 8:45 -only out for about 45 minutes and the horses were sweaty under saddles -they say the heat will break after tomorrow -then only in the 70's -I will welcome that!
Beth -umbrellas -interesting - I guess you can embroider just about anything!
Waving to Faye & Dutch - keep cool - HAGD --CBL

CATHY-sorry you didn't get to swim. When will you see DB to give him the painting. this weekend we saw lots of watercolors and something called opaque water color(word was like "garouche" I can't remember, it started with a g). really fun. and pen and ink for Eloise original paintings. the metronome is your friend. Have fun. LIBBY-eclipse party sounds cute. any news on the kitchen finishing? BARB-very hot and humid here even early . should break tomorrow, supposed to rain tonight. BETH did a great umbrella for me with harps BETH-when do you think your harvest will be over AMY-hope you had a nice ride DUTCH-hope all is well Schlepping a harp, amp, bench and music stand in heels was something in this heat. I get a cart but this place I have to then park a cross the street in a lot. so I unload and leave the stuff under the stairs in the lobby, then park, then get the luggage cart on the upper floor then load, etc etc. and it wasn't in the auditorium it was in the main area so it was packed 150 people i heard and I'd believe it. Good I took the lightest harp. I held it over my head and walked it to another area to pack it up. People were really nice and thanked me for coming. I like it there. only about 25 min by car. Next shows are Sunday and Monday and in town. waving to all. HAGD

Good afternoon. The mattress set was delivered about 15 minutes earlier than stated but that was okay. It sits really high on the bedstead. I may end up getting some step stools to put near the sides of the bed to be able to get into it easier.
The garden will continue to produce until the heat/no rain or a frost kills it.

Good Morning All! Faye - so apparently we all schlep! you are becoming quite the harpist in demand -how very cool for you!
Beth- better early than late - usually if they say 1-5 I'm at 4:45! Yes, the newer mattresses are big/thick -i find it hard to find sheets that fit well -some too tight -some too loose -(I feel like Goldilocks!)
Libby - any movement on the property? or the horse situation? How is Rosie doing?
Cathy - hope you can swim today -
hi to Dutch (hope things are slowing down for you) and AMy -how is your getting Lukas out on trails going?
May just give Penny a bath today -she's only had 1 or 2 all summer -I know she will roll shortly after but I will feel better about it -still muggy so may skip my ride -after today they are saying 6-7 days of low humidity and nice temps
HAGD - ride if you can -CBL

BARB-hope Penny enjoys her bath. I agree about the sheets, too tight, too loose, have yet to become baby bear and get it just right. Have you heard from Judy? CATHY-did you get to the pool? curious if it's cleaner. Did you do the DVD tape? LIBBY-is Rosie ok? must have missed something. AMY-hope you had a nice ride. any news on the barn/sale? have you been doing lessons? DUTCH-hope things aren't too busy. BETH-hope you had a good night's sleep on the new bed.
did a barre session today, it was cross training 30 min but included barre stuff. I had 3 wt training sessions left so decided to use them this way. She may do an hour class and I'd rather do that- less $ but need to get some more stamina. amazing how training one way doesn't do much for other exercises, doesn't seem fair somehow!

Hi, all! Faye, they spell it as gouache. I have some of that, but it's white. You can mix it with other watercolor to make them more opaque (say like if you want to paint over something you can't pull up). Glad you enjoyed them. I used to do pen and ink. Wow...that schlepping sounded like a long one. They couldn't find you a closer place to park? That's why you have the lighter harp, yes? Keep working those upper arm/back muscles Libby, ugh...sorry about the drama. Hope all works out OK. Barb, have fun giving Penny a bath! Beth, congrats on the new mattress! I know my brother and exSIL had to get stairs for their bed as well...that's why they make them Hi to Amy and Dutch! Yes, will try again today to swim. I was looking for some help to get furniture I want to sell down to the garage (BIG stuff, can't do it myself). Originally thought I could use movers, but they have a 3hr minimum...even thought they say "No job too small!" they don't mean it. So friends offered to find some teenagers to help but they are heading out of town to take their oldest to college. I guess I'll just wait for them to return next week. My brother said Xmas is fine for the painting. He probably doesn't have anywhere to put it anyway Cathy

Back- it was too nice not to ride - although the bugs were a bit active - as you many know since Dee works full time ( a director of a pre school / teacher but still does admin stuff during the summer -just a bit relaxed!) (and has 3 kids) i usually wind up doing the cleaning -if I am there I can't just leave it -but today I told her she could clean (she did before she went to work) and it was nice just to get to the barn and ride -no cleaning! I fed lunch! Didn't bath her but scrubbed her white hind legs to sparkle! (they will be dirty by tomorrow -but I felt better!)

Good morning. Had my first day at Bible study yesterday. I don't know anyone from last year. It's a totally new group to me. We start our first lesson next week. My tomatoes have come in big time. I'm going to be getting them ready to freeze today. I'll puree them to make a kind of chunky saucy consistency for chilis, spaghetti etc. Tomorrow I'll probably make pickles with the last of the cucumbers. So far we love the new bed although it's firmer that the old one. It doesn't sink in the middle.
Cathy-Wow!That painting is great! It's the first one that I have gotten to see that you have done.

Hi, all! Faye, enjoy the haircut. Is the shopping for something specific? I'm trying to find a bathingsuit top for Hawaii...it's quite frightening Beth, hope the classes go well...is it fun having new members in the class or do you wish you had other returnees? Sounds like you'll be busy with canning...have fun! Um...I think beds aren't supposed to sink in the middle Barb, glad you got in a ride and got Dee to share/take over cleaning for the day. Is Penny dirty from dust? It is hard on white socks Hi to all that follow! Got to the podiatrist...got another cortisone injection. I guess he wants me to get an MRI to ensure that I have what he's sure I have. He wants to be sure before we talk about surgery. It might be my only option as the cortisone wears off and the orthotics aren't working. Got in a swim yesterday. Apparently, they didn't clean the pool, just did some recaulking. But they must have emptied it because the water is clear and sparkling! We all enjoyed swimming in the nice water Cathy

BETH-sometimes it's nice to have new people but nice when you know the group. guess it depends. hope you enjoy it BARB-nice day today and no rain in immediate future so hope you get to ride a lot coming up. any other friends coming to ride with you? LIBBY-any people that look good to board? Do you have a deadline or Plan B? AMY-any more shows coming up? How high would you want to jump or are you at your limit now that you moved up a class? DUTCH- hope things aren't too busy.
