Good morning. It was cool and nippy this morning while walking but I'll take that over 100% humidity anytime. Didn't do much grocery shopping Friday or Saturday. I guess I'll do some today but I'm not looking forward to it.
Faye/Barb-Happy New Year
Amy-congrats on buying Lukas.

Hi horse lovers, Amy; congrats! how exciting! Wish I was closer to go for a ride with you! Faye; so nice that your roast was like "moms" that's hard to beat! Barb; Happy new year! Beth; I did a little shopping, cleaned stalls and read my Outlander book most of the day yesterday-also watched a few episodes of Heartland- it's addicting! Cathy; It's gotten colder here. dh and I did a lot of planning on how to get to warmer places this winter! Wave to chickadee and dutchwife and atf Working in Kent this morning with a difficult case, have an interpreter lined up. Not looking forward to it. I will say that I am so excited about how well the carb counting is working for me. I am 3 lbs away from the skinny goal that I didn't really ever think I would get to. I have lost 10 lbs. since I started this seriously in late July/early August. 3 more lbs. and I have lost 40 lbs. total - Weight watchers helped me a lot, yet this is amazing, I plan on keeping it off!!

Hi, all! Faye and Barb, Happy New Year! I hope you both have great celebrations - and awesome food Barb, glad you're getting some rain. Yeah, kitties and their food things...it drives me nuts. Amy, that is SO exciting, buying Lukas! I know you can't compare him to Rueben, but he does sound like an awfully nice horse. And such a lovely tail Libby, they even stole the port-a-pot? Wow...I'm so glad that headache is over for you. Sorry you have a stressful meeting coming up (requiring an interpreter?). Good luck! I'm so happy the carb diet is working for you. Would that I could...what a commitment! It's how my brother loses weight when he needs to. Allison, congrats on getting both coats done on the walls!! Beth, we know how you love grocery shopping Saturday was exhausting...3 hours of talking to a bunch of people I didn't know. It's like being on stage...just not really me. But it was fun, and good for me. I have to do it again in 2 weeks. Sunday was walking and cleaning and painting. The painting I posted on FB is actually a copy of a painting I saw in a magazine. But the fact that I enjoyed doing it was reward enough. Now I'm trying to work out the reflection work we did last week...which did not go well. Trying to find the fun again! Kitty seems fine...diarrhea is gone. She's sitting here waiting for attention. But back to work... Cathy

Running errands then will head out to barn to clean -then going to DDIL's parents house to catch up w/ her mother & aunt (they live in town). We do that every few months -it's a nice relationship. Trying to find a pair (hind only) of cob shipping boots to have for Penny just in case I need to or want to try trucking her again! Don't really want to have to buy a full set of 4 (never used the fronts) as they are expensive!

Meeting yesterday went better than expected, the poor young mom kept crying. I'm having a nursing type disagreement with my boss and it is very uncomfortable. I'm going to have to meet face to face and talk with her. I feel like sometimes she's a little over the top cautious. It has to do with a child at my PT other job which ultimately is under my boss from my regular PT job! Ugh! I don't want to triangulate-yet I have to follow my gut and my training. I'm starting to feel so much better, my elbow doesn't hurt right now and my feet are Cinderella Happy!! HAGR everyone! need to order hay!!

Hi, all! Faye, they DO have probiotics for pets. I actually got a sample from my watercolor teacher and tried it while the cat was having diarrhea. Maybe if I'd started it earlier or she was regularly on it, we wouldn't have had the problem. Of course, I haven't see a BM from her since Thursday... Beth, hope you enjoyed your walk! Barb, glad you got a ride in. Have a nice visit with the in-laws! Libby, nothing like being stuck between 2 different bosses! There have been times, when I was younger, when I would walk out of heated arguments. I know how uncomfortable it can be...just be yourself and stick up for what you think is right! Didn't swim yesterday...it was my big spreadsheet day so never got away from the computer I'm thinking I might need to get the heating ducts cleaned...has anyone ever done that before? I'm worried there's crap in them, since I cough when they start up in the morning. Might just be the dry air, or the fact that I'm already coughing from allergies. Just thought it might be worth a try. I've heard about systems that actually add moisture to the air...would love one of those! In the meantime, the humidifier is going! Cathy

Libby- sorry you are caught between a rock/hard place -or your intuition & rules! Hope you can figure it out -let me know about the boots if they are cobs.
Dutch -sounds like busy day for Alie -has she had her feet done before? how is she to handle them? Penny is getting her feet done tomorrow!

Dutch -sounds like busy day for Alie -has she had her feet done before? how is she to handle them? She's been trimmed before. She's OK with it - no pro yet by any means. And to add to the fun, a small low pressure system blowing in... she's a little edgy today! lol Did GREAT for the Vet! Flu/Rhino/Patomic done. Blood drawn, fecal collected, coggins done! Whoot! Vet was pleased with her health, good recommendations on vitamins/supplement, agreed no hay/grain required... just need a shelter Which, I'm working on!

CATHY-i've had the ducts cleaned in the past. I have an airfilter and electronic filter on the furnace. I have a humidifier on the house and a humidifier in the harp room. I have a dehumidifier in the summer in the harp room. Harps like around 50% humidiy. check what yours likes. I try to stay between 40-40%. once I hit the 30s I pull out the humidifier. couldn't hurt to clean the ducts. DUTCH-hope Ally does well with her big check up day LIBBY-sorry about the 2 boss issue. hope it resolves. Glad the meeting went ok and so glad you are feeling better. BARB-have a nice time at DDIL's parents house. BETH-is the trailer delivered? will you get a website now that you are not doing shows?? AMY-does Lukas have a show name?

Hi horse lovers! Working a bit this morning and then going to p/u dgd from school. She has an early dismissal day. It's a 45 min. drive with no traffic, north of Seattle. She is such a sweet joy, can't wait to spend the afternoon with her! It's raining here with no relief in sight! Seattle for you! Have 750$ worth of hay coming this morning. That should last 3-4 months for the four horses. My barn won't hold more DH waned me to get one of those big truck trailers for the yard to put a years worth of hay in it. I don't want to look at it in my yard, so I just buy hay so often. It's such a lovely sight to no see all the cars and motorhomes out past my pasture!! The city took a while, yet did a good job. I'm supposed to write a letter for code enforcement to give to the Mayor about how that has affected my life, I've been trying to think of what to write. The city is going to try and foreclose on the property to get there their money back. DH is thinkin of buying it if it does, to keep anyone else out! HAGR everyone! Beth, you must be traveling, safe travels!

GM all! Ally did great for the farrier, considering her age, training, rain, wind and leaves blowing! For a trim he was done in 30 min. Said her feet look good and that she's a nice filly! Next appointment set! YAY
Libby... it sure is wet out there!!!!

Hi, all! Faye, I think you're right...I'll see about getting the ducts cleaned. It can't hurt. Hope you had fun w/dd in the house Dutch, glad all went well with Ally and she was a trooper. Isn't it nice getting compliments from folks who don't know her but have to work with her!! Barb, hope you had a nice visit. Penny is pretty good about her feet, now, right? Beth, where are you? Walking? Libby, I think you should talk about your stress level in your letter, how things disappeared, the smell? the noise? the illegal activity? I bet that would all work Hope you can buy the property...then you'd never have to worry about squatters again! Have fun with dgd! Had watercolor class yesterday. Even though she said she's leaving, she's going to try and get through another round of sessions so looks like I'll be painting with her until the end of the year. Did I mention I bought one of her originals and one print? Can't afford the big originals so liked a small landscape she did and she gave me a price break Hope to swim today (have I said that before?). Cathy

Good Morning -missed yesterday -busy here -farrier - yes, Penny is finally good with all 4 feet! It only took 3 years for farrier to be able to file & trim frogs on hinds! Fronts never an issue -this time she did "hot shoeing" which better seals the hoof wall (front only). The abcess blow out is just about gone, the spot she was concerned about white line is doing well and this hot shoeing would only help the issue. Penny stood fine for it -Amy (farrier) actually thinks she might have had it done in her past life as she had halter points as a yearling & Amy says they usually will hot shoe show horses to keep feet in good shape! I did ride her later in the afternoon. Going to go out in a bit - DH is going to take Tundra so we will start out together -
I picked up all the glass at the shop in MA - forgot how much i had there ! now have to find new homes for them -actually a friend came over last night to buy 2 pieces -it's a start!
Dutch -glad Allie is doing well with all her new stuff! Cathy -keep posting your paintings -they are lovely! Amy -how are things with Luka -did you have him vetted or was that done before he came over?
Libby -glad all that is done must be nice now -quiet?

Hi, all!
Faye, wow...1.5 hours? I guess I can see that now if you're enjoying your lessons. 45 minutes seem to fly by but with my old teacher it was just heck. Where are you off to next week? Barb,I did hot shoeing all year but that's CA for you. My horse had crappy feet and just couldn't go without. Thanks for the compliment!
Hi to all the others...must be a busy Thursday!
Got in a swim yesterday. There was quite the kerfuffle. I was sharing an outside lane with someone and I was along the wall. All of a sudden there's an old guy in front of me while I was swimming. Taken aback, and kind of irritated. The other woman moved to another lane because she was closer and I moved to the inside of our lane, but the guy was clueless. One woman said he did it all the time, but it wasn't that big of a deal (of course, she wasn't blocked by someone standing in front of her so bleh). When I had finished showering and was primping in front of the mirror, two of the ladies came in and were like "we need to do something about him". One was like, he's lonely, one was like he's creepy. Who knows what will happen. I see him all the time just sitting on the pool deck, but never in the water. He's lucky I saw him otherwise I would have smashed into him.
Working on my painting from class...taking a long time as I'm using pen and ink to stipple in some values. Bleh...
Cathy
