Pepper & Sherry- I don't know if you saw, but Mare has posted an Intro and expectations thread over on the Books board in prep for starting Beck on 8/1. She is in fairly regular touch w Dr Beck after having done her practical leaders workshop, and is also a Professor of Psychology. She really knows what she's doing.
If I hadn't already committed to the Willpower book, I would join you.

Hey Pep, remember when I said that once I dressed the Snack Fairy in the Doritos earrings, I didn't seem to crave them anymore?
Is there something you can add to her ensemble that might help sort of visually repel her for you? Can you add a big clock around her neck like Flava Flave to make you stop yourself late at night? (Like Ice Cube says, 'Check yourself, before you wreck yourself.' LOL. Should you be eating more protein for filling purposes at dinner? Just throwing out ideas (((you)))

Cyn, you're right on the protein. I do much, much better when I have more protein at night. Last night was vegetable beef soup and cornbread = very carby.
I didn't know there was an OTPP board. I haven't been paying that much attention. I posted on the WW OTPP board quite a lot, but you AimGangers are the ones I wanted to be sure to find when we all migrated.

Greetings from Grumpy Gadget Girl,
In my next life I do NOT ever want to be responsible for scheduling people to work. OMG. Today is the perfect storm with people out, including me. Plus I got an email last night at 7pm that one of my students' new job had her scheduled for today. Swell. Now we don't have any coverage after 11:30am. We are supposed to be staffed until 1pm. Oh well. I've emailed people to at least put up signs that no one will be around. I'm sure someone will be pissed off, but WTH our services don't cost them anything.
I'm off to face the scale now. Still below WW goal but not at my personal goal. Another thing that is making me grumpy.
Thursday: GHGs - needed more veggies Liquids: good Activity: bodyweight squats & lunges, 65 treadmill easy walk/run, stretching Calories: over. It's Wednesday, I'm always over. Mindful eating: Meh

Grrrrrrr, Regina. I feel your pain.
I've got one out on FMLA and one making her annual 2 1/2 week visit to Japan to see her family. Combine that with regular 4x10 work schedules and the usual summer stuff people like to do PLUS it's the end of the gov'ts fiscal year and we're insanely busier than usual. Ugh. I'm ready for October.
*makes note to schedule vacation*
Two days ago I was able to give a very deserving employee a nice raise. That gave me such a good I-love-my-job feeling. Then yesterday happened. Yesterday I had to explain to a senior level person that when he says he can get me some figures at 9:50 for a 10:00 meeting, sending them at 10:04 isn't acceptable. Then he whined, which makes me angrier than the fact that I went into a meeting without info I needed.

Yay, V!
Regina and Pep, that sucks, your staffing issues.
I never have understood not getting someone information they've asked for by the time they ask for it.
Wombie, what training schedule are you using?

Cyn, I'm using one of Hal Higdon's plans. I can't remember which one exactly but the one that didn't do any tempo runs or speedwork or anything like that. I'm lazy and I know I won't do those. I just want to run in the woods.

Ditto on the speed/tempo work. I got mine from Competitor magazine free from the running shoe store. Is yours time-based or distance based? Mine's time. I am doing pretty well, but I can certainly tell that I was doing more regular running vs speed walking last time around. Slow and steady.

Mine is distance based which I like better than time. I get funny about knowing my mileage and how far away I am from being done vs how much time is left.

Morningish Ladies: been up and lazy this am. Going out to eat with friends and to a play "Anything Goes" tonight. Hi V!! GHG's: missing l dairy & oil water: good AP's: 0 - SP's: 32/30 My foot is hurting less. Dr says come off the boot slowly. Starting with 2 hrs first day. Then back on ice and foot in boot. Take 2 weeks to come off of it and see her again. The e-rays showed another break on the same foot near the little toe and it shows a cist on the break. WTH....she says not to worry about it.

(((Sherry))) here's hoping for complete healing this time around.
Cyn & Wombat - I don't follow any specific training plan but I do focus on building up the mileage of my long runs. I don't do speed work either. But then again my goal is to not be DFL!

Regina, all I want to do is beat the 3:01:16 from Baltimore. If only I hadn't needed to run into the woods to pee...LOL.

For my 2,800 ft of elevation half I just want to beat the 4:00 cutoff. If I'm after that I won't get an official time. If I don't stop moving I should be able to make it...I hope. I'm thinking of picking up a hiking pole to help with the climbing. Any thoughts/recommendations??

Wombat - I have my dads hiking poles that took him thousands of miles! The brand name is escaping me at the moment but I'll try to remember tonight to look at them and report back.

Wombat - the trekking poles are Leki brand. My old brain finally retrieved the information. I've used them many times over the years including on a 26+ mile hike I did the year after my father died - it was a hike he used to lead each year for his hiking group. It was their longest hike and had lots of ups and downs.

Good morning! Still heaven.
So amazing to hear that the Reginas have been SupahStahs in this hiking thing for generations! Have you come Down East to Cadillac Mountain to hike yet, Regina? It's where the sun hits the USA first! Come on over! We haven't hiked it yet. It's about two/three hours from here in Mid -coast, and we get all comfy here and say"maybe next time". But it's on the list.
Report: lobstah.
Lobster is a miracle. Seriously. "Tracker, how many points in like, 3 lobsters? Oh, 2 points? "
Not even kidding. I've done the work. You get about 3.5 oz of meat out of a 1.25/1.5 pound bug. It's awesome.
