Good day yesterday. Lovely, cool walking weather. I was out around the ponds for 3 hours. I love watching all the different swallows we have in the area. Happily, all the Cliff Swallow mud nests made it through the storms, and there were a few teeeny tiny baby faces peeking out! And all 10 of one clutch of Wood Ducklings were still there, though the other group has gone from 5 to 4.😢 The plantings are growing like crazy, some of the prairie grasses are taller than I am.
Got the financial stuff addressed, after too much waiting. However, turns out the fund people dropped a zero in the amount they sold, so I have to wait for another check to arrive. At least having a smaller one to deposit, I'm not sweating the 10 business day wait for availability like I had to do in January.
Got my T-DAP booster done, check your booster status, ladies. They last 10 years, I had my last one in 2013.
We're having some sprinklies here, so I'll do some errands this morning, and hope it clears up for walkabout a bit later. I'm going to hit the thrift shop. I need a few cheap summer tops that aren't tee shirts, so I'm not a total schlub all summer while I'm working on losing weight. My friends the Waco Brothers are playing at an afternoon street fair in a few weeks, and I'd like to look cute and be comfortable out dancing. I'm also going to see if I can find a pair of breathable hiking pants to wear for coverage, so I'm not dying in jeans. I'll go see if the nearby REI is having some sales. I wouldn't mind finding a lightweight long sleeved sunscreen shirt, too.
Happy Friday, folks!

Greetings! Overall, yesterday was a very nice day. The 5K route was so pretty. The riverfront path is very well maintained with many plantings of flowers. The temps were in the 60s so it was very pleasant. I walked with another woman and we chatted the whole way. She is a brisk walker so I had another 5K just under 51 minutes! We were the oldest of the group but left many younger people in our dust Then I got a shower and went on the tour to a nearby university that will be opening a medical school in 2027. On the bus ride over, I talked with another woman who does a lot of biking with her husband. We swapped numerous stories. The tour was very nice, too! Wow, things have really advanced in nursing education with the high tech simulation models the students use before they work on real people. The business lunch was okay. The people at my table were nice, but the food was terrible. The staff didn't understand gluten free so when they finally brought me a plate, it was only vegetables. There was another woman at my table who wanted vegetarian and was told they didn't offer that. I gave her my plate and the staff took forever to finally bring me a plate with overcooked chicken breast and a sad little baby potato. I learned later that this conference will be the last one at the Duke Center for 2 years as there is a huge construction project starting on Monday. The city is closing one of the streets in front of the convention center and building a park on the empty lot across the street. I also learned that the meal at the big gala the night before (50th anniversary for the organization) was equally terrible. I took a break back at my room between my 2 sessions in the afternoon and then I did my volunteer gig with signage. Last event was dinner hosted by the medical school who offers the early acceptance program. OMG, the food and service were FABULOUS! The menu was already pre-planned and it was serve yourself. The staff was very attentive to make sure nothing ran out. I started with 2 pork al pastor tacos as they were made with corn tortillas. YUMMY! The carne asada tacos were made with flour tortillas, but one of the servers came over and asked if I would like it if they could make me 2 using corn tortillas. You bet! They were so flavorful! I truly haven't had such a fabulous meal in a very long time. The flavor combinations were just perfect. My table mates also enjoyed their meals and drinks. Then they had churros for dessert which all of them were raving about. I didn't feel deprived at all since my belly was full of delicious tacos. This meal really made up for the terrible lunch. What a fabulous way to celebrate my birthday! Today is filled with sessions plus 3 separate volunteer gigs. All food will be on my own which is fine by me. But first I'm heading down to that wonderful fitness center to start my day just like I do at home! Have a great day!

Hi, Good day yesterday, despit the rain most of the day.
Got lots of errands done. Got 3 cute, on sale tops at Marshall's, once I got over the fright of seeing myself in the mirror in flourescent lighting. Also, they were having a great sale at DSW, and I had a coupon-and bonus- they had my beloved Baretrap Samina gladiator sandals on sale, in different colors than I had so I now have them in black. I got another $20 coupon that I can use starting 7/7 to go back and buy the 3rd color 🙂. Then I met up w Erik for happy hour at a small dive bar w outdoor seating, and free popcorn a block away from our bldg, so we laughed and people watched for awhile. Heading out shortly to get the ponds circuit done in the relative coolness w massive humidity out there right now. Cooling towel, where are yoooouuu? Happy weekend, friends! Tracking streak still going.🙂

Happy late birthday, gadgetgirlil! My workbench arrives Monday! And wouldn’t you know it, someone in my little town is selling a similar one for $100 on FB Marketplace today. I don’t have any way to get it from their house to mine without spending more, so oh well. Did you all know you can shop at Goodwill online? You have to bid like on eBay, then pick it up. (Search for your local regional Goodwill office.) The pickup spot is just a couple of miles from my office. I bid on a compound miter saw and the auction ends today. When I last checked, I was the only bidder at $15. A new one would cost around $200. Fingers crossed! I have about an hour’s work to do on my big report due June 30. Wahooo! I’m going to knock that out early this morning, take my ethics exam for my continuing ed, then be worthless for the rest of the weekend. Have a great day!

Good morning!
We had a great time at baseball last night. Our team won in a walk-off sacrifice fly after being down by 5 runs. Our baseball friends were there with their daughter. It has been so fun to watch their kids grow up over the years. We hadn't seen them since last season and they were worried about us not being at the games. They were out of town at the beginning of the season, and we were gone that two week stretch.
More baseball tonight.
I am going to head to the FM and other errands in a bit. I need to get stuff to fix healthier meals. I am ready for vegetables.
I hope you all have a great day!

Greetings!
The conference wraps up this morning. There are only 2 sessions. I feel for those presenters as many people have already left town. I will go to the first one and then I will be driving up to the Dayton area to see my friend. We had worked together at the retirement community and then she relocated to this area in 2020.
Yesterday had some good session. Still trying to figure out where we are supposed to be able to access the presentation slides. Several people used their phones to take pictures of the screen but I find the quality to be poor so would rather have the actual slides. Some of the presenters put up QR codes so you could get access to a Google Drive but if you were in the back of the room, it was often hard to get the code to scan.
Weather will be cooler tomorrow for my next round of hiking! The temps are supposed to get down to the upper 50's overnight. I'll be hitting the trails early!
Have a great day!

Morning. A lovely, relaxed weekend here. Thursday we stayed home and watched the "debate". MG is super bummed about the performances. But I thought sticking to the topics, answering questions, and (ineffectually) calling out the barrage of lies was exactly what he needed to accomplish. While he stumbled a bit, I don't see it as the loss that everyone is wringing their hands about. Friday was a girls' day out of town to celebrate my house being finished. YF & I ran on the pavement in town, went to Manhattan for pedicures, and then out to lunch. We were hoping to get to the trail, but it had rained overnight. G joined us for the short training run after her regular workout and then ran off to church. That woman is a BEAST with her training. CSO is out of town this weekend and YF didn't want to chance the coffeeshop if one of the less favored cooks was at the grill. This one just isn't as on top of things like cross contamination and doesn't like being at the grill, so her food is regularly mediocre. The pedis were nice at the place we booked. It was a one-off to go there, but the girl I had gave an awesome foot and calf massage. The new to us place for lunch was delicious. We could people watch, and they had a nice variety of gf things available. We'll probably go back at least to try it again, but I prefer our normal coffeeshop there. Saturday was uberlazy. I had the thought of getting out to start the next project (shed) and thought better of it. There are still nails to pull and tarpaper to remove before we can tack up the new tarpaper and siding on the north side. Once the siding is on, I will have to cut some boards for the trim edges and nail them in place. Then start on the south side where I plan to leave the deteriorated siding in place, tack on some tarpaper, and throw the siding up. I will still need to replace some rotted trim boards. If I had realized I could have done that on the north side, I would be way ahead of the game. Once the siding and trim is up, I can throw a coat of paint on it and call it good. The second shed I want to clean up is much newer and in lots better shape. It will be a power wash, minor repairs, and stain job. The deck is coming along. He has the framework and stringers up. He will need to get the decking down, the railing on, and the stairs attached before he can call it done. MG is looking into sheeting to install under the deck while it is still relatively open and accessible. I don't think I'm going to have him install a skirt on the bottom. It won't serve much of a purpose, and it was difficult to remove weeds when the old deck that had skirting was in place. Once this step of the multipart project is finished, I'll get him paid and have him put in a bid on the cement pad and two other railing projects. He has been easy to work with and always leaves the yard and workspace clean when he packs up for the day. He hasn't been putting in "full" days to get it done. But I knew that this was a side-hustle, and his main job would be his priority. So overall I'm pleased with the work at this point.

Happy Sunday!
I finished all my work and continuing ed yesterday, so today I’m not going to use my brain at all. As I was renewing my CPA license I got a message saying that now that I’m an old fart I can opt for some sort of classification where I don’t have to do continuing ed. Nice of them to flash that as I’m renewing instead of on the screen that says how much continuing ed I need. I’m going to check that out because it sure would save a lot of time and money.
Speaking of money, I won the bid for the miter saw. I also found that there are some “Buy now” things and got a DeWalt cordless drill for $11 (it would be around $100 new). I sure hope these things work! They require an appointment to pick the stuff up and the soonest one is Friday, which is fine.
Next task: Figure out how long a board I can fit in my car. I saw online that the back seat and front seat can be laid down and 8 foot boards can be loaded from the trunk. Most boards come in 8’ lengths, but there are also 6’ ones. This might be my project today. Or I might go see the new Kevin Costner movie depending on how lazy I decide to be.
Are y’all cooking anything interesting on July 4? I want something barbecued, and some sort of dessert with fresh peaches. I’m not going to mention the peach dessert to Mom because she will start going on about how canned peaches are just as good in a pie or cobbler. They are NOT the same and I get tired of arguing that sometimes fresh or homemade food really does taste better than canned or instant food from a box, then she turns her nose up at whatever I cook. It is incredibly frustrating.
Have a great day!

Good morning! Another walk off win for the Doughboys (our team) last night! They started out being 4 runs ahead and let the other team tie it up--the opposite of Friday night. It was another great game to watch. Tonight they start earlier and only play 7 innings. I guess it helps for a work night, though they play late on other work nights. pepper, I think I will have DH smoke some chicken and we will have roasted potatoes, green beans, and other vegetables. It will depend on what I find at the FM on Tuesday afternoon. I hope to make some wilted lettuce, too. I have run out of my allergy medicine. I must get that today! I can already tell a difference. Tomorrow I am going to start being less lazy. I have to get some stuff done around this house. I need to get back out on the trails. I must get my diet going in a healthy direction--including some sort of tracking. Vacation is not over, but it's definitely time to have a schedule again. I hope you all have a Sunday Funday in some way!

Greetings from Logan, OH!
After the conference, I headed up to Fairborn, near Dayton, and visited with my friend. We had a delightful time! Got to see her new house, talked a lot about her new job in a for-profit retirement community (wowza, they have some really odd rules such as you can't call it a "sing-a-long" but must call it "Karaoke" because you don't want to infantilize the residents). Then we went out to lunch in Yellow Springs. Afterwards we went to Great Council State Park which just opened and has a large interpretive center all about the Shawnee Indians who used to be in that area before the white men brutally forced them out. It was very well done. Then we went over to the newly renovated Raptor Center at the nature preserve where she used to work (she got a new job and new house in April this year). Wrapped up with a quick stop at her friends that had a bunch of plums fresh from their tree that they were trying to give away.
I headed off to Logan and got here around 6:45pm. By the time I talked to DH and got all my stuff sorted out, it was 9:00pm, way after my bedtime!
My room used to be a conference room. It has twice the square footage as all the other rooms (floor plans of the building are always posted on the back of the door to show emergency exits). There are 12 recessed lights in the ceiling and a 8 foot long countertop with wet bar alongside one of the walls. It has two windows plus two A/C units. Must have been easier to just put in a bed and some random pieces of furniture instead of putting in a wall to have 2 rooms. You could have a dance party with the big open space on the one half of the room. But the huge countertop with cabinets is perfect for my needs since I do my own cooking. Oddest floor plan I think I've ever had in a hotel room!
Nice and cool this morning with temps currently in the low 50's. I'm heading out soon to do my longest hike of this trip to take advantage of the cooler weather. Burr Oak State Park is my destination.
Have a great day!

Howdy!
I had errands and other things yesterday so I didn’t get to start putting the workbench together. I think I’m going to add wheels to the bottom because it weighs 100+ pounds according to the box.
I hope this week is normalish. I have a lot to do, but I hope it’s quiet otherwise. Bossman and I and one of our engineers have an appointment downtown tomorrow where Bossman says we should wear suits, he’s tired of the T-shirts-and-beards look at our company. Yay! 😁 (Remember the guy who asked whether a concert T-shirt was “business casual”?) I lost about 20 lbs last year and only have one suit that fits. Oh well. At least I don’t have to debate what to wear in my head.
Have a great day!

Morning.
I was going to get started on the shed yesterday. And meet YF for a run. And Yoga. I did none of that.
MG went to Manhattan and bought weed fabric to put under the deck in the evening. I did nothing. It's grey and rainy this morning.
Coffee.
^^That's kinda a haiku, right?

Good Morning All: I came back last night. I was ok, just tired. We had lots of rain and sun and some clouds--all of which kept the temps down nicely. We had lots of fun eats and activities. I won $200 food/drink coupon at the resort (plenty of choices) at Bingo the first night, so we splurged. Best drink in the world was called "I'm on vacation"!! Taking oldest DGS 20 out a few days early today for a B-day dinner and little BD money shopping. Unpacked half my junk last night. Will get all squared away today. I'm up 2 lb.....only surprise is that it wasn't 7.

Happy July! I started my Jump Into July Challenge this morning by making that Vitality Salad first thing. It's chilling and marinating right now, but is pretty good! I'm sure, knowing myself, I will find things to tweak for next time. One goal for the month already accomplished! I have several other recipes to try on my meal planning list, so will likely get at least one more in for this challenge. Gorgeous weather, so of course I am sitting here waiting until the additional check arrives from the investment fund people, who fucked up the amount of one of last week's checks. I need to burn sage for myself.
TTFN!

Happy July 1st! I have already been out on a walk with WF. We went to a new to me trail that we will do again later this summer. I made us turn around before we got to the waterfalls, so as I get stronger again, we will go further. It was all downhill to start, so the uphill on the way back concerned me. However, I did better than I thought I would. I am Jumping into July with Cyn. I am definitely going to get more activity in. Clean in my house a bit every day. I will be more mindful of what I eat and drink. I hope you all have a great day!

Greetings!
The weather was lovely yesterday! Started off around 55 degrees and the high at the end was 77 degrees. Nice breeze and low humidity! Perfect for this time of year. I spent the entire day out on the trails as what I thought was going to be around 16 miles ended up being 17.4 miles. I haven't done a hike that long since 2017. And this hike had a lot of steep ups and downs so I was going slower than usual. It was a beautiful state park, Burr Oak State Park, with views of the water much of the time. I didn't finish until after 5pm. I have pictures to post but will have to work on them later today as I ran out of time and energy last night. I used my good camera since it does a better job with zooming in on some of the neat flowers I saw.
Today I will be at Hocking Hills State Park. It will NOT be a 17+ mile day but probably still more than 10 miles. All good training for Colorado.
ION the state approved my claim for those funds from my dad's old investment firm. They started paying interest in 2017 after a class action lawsuit regarding unclaimed funds. So I will get my $50 plus $10 of interest! That will buy a couple tanks of gas.
Have a great day!

Morning.
Yesterday was a day from hell. It feels like today is starting to shape up the same way. YF has gotten us into a Streaker Challenge (exercise, not the other) - 1 mile per day for the month. It felt like a good companion for Jump in July.
I tracked. 11/23 1.5 servings fv Some protein 30 min on Apple watch, but only 1 mile on bike was intentional, so probably 5-8 min actually.

Good Morning Ladies: Massive thunderstorms last night. I was nearly buried in doxies!! Yesterday went to Aldi. Still need to check out BOGO's for this week at Publix. Yesterday, I took DGS20 out for some new clothes shopping for his Bday. He has lost a lot of weight and gotten much firmer taking care of horses twice a day--plus working--. Especially in this heat. Then, we went out to a new to me Mexican restaurant and it was awesome. Azetec D'oro if there is one by you. Then, we came back here and saw a good movie..The Adam Project..then I took him back to his aunt late. He is such a sweetheart. Today is our bookclub luncheon--the one with no book so lots more ladies come to this than come to bookclub...LOL. It is a gorgeous place in a park on a lake.

Good morning!
Day one down!
I tracked and had a couple of points left over for the day. I was pretty hungry, but that was more than likely because I let myself get too hungry before eating anything. I won't do that today.
We are probably going to baseball again tonight. I will try to eat something healthy before leaving for the game so that I don't eat any hot dogs. I love them, but until I have a few more days of tracking under my belt before splurging on a hot dog. Peanuts? That's a different story!
I am meeting WF for another trail walk in a bit. I will also make another trip to the FM today. I fixed green beans last night. I got enough for one meal and am ready to fix another batch. I will also get some cucumbers and whatever looks good.
I hope you all have a great day!

Greetings!
No pictures on FB yet as I was too tired after I got done with a trip over to the laundromat and went to bed instead. I did another 12.65 miles split over 2 hikes yesterday. I was at Hocking Hills which I learned gets swarmed by visitors - the enormous paving parking area should have been my first clue. There were only a few people there at 7am but by 10am it was getting too peoplely for me. The parking area was nearly full when I left before noon. I went to another section to hike which still had a lot of visitors but once I got off the 1/4 mile accessible trail going to a giant cave, it was much quieter. Got too hot, though. Up to 88 degrees by the time I finished. It was 91 when I went to do laundry. Blech.
I'm trying to figure out where I will hike today. I'll do another section at Hocking Hills first before it gets crowded and then I will go somewhere else for a few more miles. I want to get around 10-12 miles for the day. It will be another hot one today so I'm starting as early as I can manage.
Have a great day!

Happy holiday eve! I’m off tomorrow but work on Friday. Lots of people are taking time off Friday, so it should be a quiet catch-up day.
Our big dress-up meeting downtown yesterday went well. I’ve never seen my boss in a suit, except for his Navy dress uniform. He cleans up real good.
I’m really looking forward to getting my workbench put together tomorrow. I need to buy a fan today or I shall surely perish out there in the garage.
Have a great day!

Morning.
Yesterday was rainy and quiet. I did another couple of miles on the sta bike rather than brave the humidity. The fog this morning is pea soup.
Deck guy is due back Thursday or Friday. Dad stopped by to observe the construction. I now have a couple of questions to ask when he does get back about joist hangers and how deep the main supports were buried. But overall, he seemed impressed with the progress. Mom had been over and told him about it, so he had to see for himself.
Tracking 33/23 decent on GHG great on water ok on activity
Overall not bad.

Good Morning Ladies: Yesterday was a great day. Lunch was great (grilled Mahi with cheese grits and coleslaw. Today I'm getting a much needed haircut and then Publix, then visit a friend to use a portion of her freezer for party stuff. Hope you all have a great holiday tomorrow. I will just be medicating pooches.
