Happy Wednesday! I slept a little late this morning and left for my walk before getting on here. We did about 4 miles. * V, I am having a hard time logging my activity on the Run For America app. Tracking went well. Walking was done. A little, but very little, housework got done. I am icing my knee today before we head out for baseball today. I was/am really out of shape and I am sore. I look forward to not feeling this way. I hope you all have a great day!

Happy 4th of July!
Today I'm hiking at those 2 state natural areas that I got the permit for. Then I will head back home. It will be good to be back home with the kitties and DH as well as all my creature comforts.
I got all my pictures from the last 3 days of hiking up on FB yesterday afternoon.
Yesterday's temps/humidity were miserable out on the trails. There was a heat advisory in the afternoon. It was close to 90 degrees when I finished a little after 1pm. I fit in another 10.7 miles. I only saw a couple of groups of hikers on my second hike, which is what I was hoping for. I was finishing up at Hocking Hills just as the hordes were descending. I hope to visit there again when the water levels are normal as the waterfalls were pretty much non-existent.
Have a great day!

Howdy! And Happy 4th!
Yesterday was a whirlwind, but I got all my deadline stuff for this week done and I don’t have to think about it. I’m getting coffee’d up and ready to start putting the workbench together. I didn’t get out to get a fan yesterday, so there’s a trip to Home Depot in my future.
Have a great day!

Morning Ladies and Happy Fourth!! Last night was another massive storm...the babies were thrilled that we had no fireworks even tho there was enough thunder to need a Thunder Wunder to get to sleep.. It has been a very different year as we have had so much rain. Generally, the damn fireworks start about 5 nights out and continue until about the 6th after everyone buys up all of the clearance sale ones! I got all of my BOGO's done yesterday (lots of paper stock up & and a beautiful plant--cause there may have been just about enough room in my kitchen window. I think I'll go make a pic...). And I had my hairs did. Looked great when I left....looks a bit like a frightened squirrel this am.

Hi, Bloggity.
Fireworks and booms going on all.night.long. Along with much loud revving of speeding cars along the main street right out my window for hours. I finally had to come out to the living room and turn on the tv in order to get some sleep. The unbelievably stupid NASCAR races are here for the second year, along with the street closures and asshole fans. Tonight's going to be a nightmare. Sigh.
Yesterday was the 2nd day in a row I got out early to Montrose to see the adorable new baby Piping Plovers who were hatched on Sunday. Sophia was with me this time. The birds are born precocial, or highly developed in the egg, so they are able to walk pretty much right out of the nest and feed themselves. They are like tiny little puff balls, scooting all along the beach. They explore around, then they scoot back to one of the nearby watchful parents, and tuck up underneath for a little snuggle and rest. It's hilarious to see the parent with extra sets of legs peeking out. There is a very elaborate volunteer and electronic monitoring system in place 24/7, since these birds are very endangered. If you google Chicago Piping Plovers, you can get some more information. It's a real success story, as the father was born at the sanctuary a few years ago, but the female was born in captivity and released at the sanctuary, and they weren't sure whether she'd return to her release place to breed.
By some absolute miracle, I lost .2 lbs this past week. I will take it. My tracking streak is still going, and right now keeping that up and daily activity seems to be what I'm able to account for. I have lapsed back a bit to some chocolate and chips, but I did not buy any ice cream at Aldi last week, so a victory of sorts.
Yesterday afternoon I was able to help get a young Black Crowned Night Heron retrieved out from under a parked van in the street outside it's zoo rookery. The zoo had already closed, but a passing zoo volunteer and I were able to keep an eye on the bird, keep it from going into the street, and get ahold of someone who was still at the zoo who came and scooped it up. We were unsure if the bird was injured, so we weren't comfortable just trying to shoo him back up and across the sidewalk. Plus, there were lots of passersby, which added to a distress situation for the poor bird. Luckily, there was a little puddle nearby and we'd had recent rain, so it had something to drink. It was a happy ending, as the rescuer will have the bird properly evaluated to make sure it's not injured, and hopefully re-released back into the zoo. The new young are getting around all over the place now, testing their wings and trying to fish and forage a bit for themselves. Have a great day everyone! Enjoy your festivities. Heading out for a walk soon, and will hang w the neighbor kitties for awhile later.

Good morning!
Another day on track! Keeping up with my food and exercise has been kind of fun!
We had fun at the game, until I got hit in the leg with a foul ball. Luckily it hit on the side of the shin instead of on the bone. I imagine it would have cracked my tibia if it had hit dead on. DH found someone to get me some ice and I have been keeping ice on it today. It's going to be a big pretty bruise.
WF texted me as we were coming home about needing to go to the hospital. We were still a ways from home and she lives another 20 minutes from here. She said her hip was very painful. She got another friend to get her and I haven't heard from her this morning. I will check in with the other friend if I don't hear from her in the next hour.
I am taking a day of rest today. Between the baseball leg and WF's hip, it seems to be a good idea.
DH is smoking three types of meat today. The plan is to eat what we want and then divide it into dinner sized portions for later. We will also have green beans, tomatoes, corn on the cob, and a cucumber salad.
I am also making a big pot of chicken and rice soup. Part of it will go to a friend going through chemo and the rest will be for my lunches next week.
I hope you all have a great day. May your fireworks be silent and your food be delicious!

Morning.
Yesterday was an exhausted rainy day. I was supposed to get out with YF, but ditched her because I had a nasty headache. We'll get out tonight for a 4th of July 5k.
Not much else to report. Enjoy the show tonight!

Howdy!
I had such a nice day puttering in the garage! It wasn’t as miserably hot as I expected. It was sweaty, but not miserable. I put lockable wheels on the bottom of the work bench which makes it less steady and more jiggly when using a hand saw, so I may re-think that or put something underneath it so there is more contact with the ground. I also need to replace an electrical outlet that isn’t working.
The rain from Hurricane Beryl is supposed to reach us in a few days. They’re talking about big, flooding rains and temps in the upper 80s instead of the triple digits we would normally have.
I’ve got a few meetings today that I hope get cancelled. I would really like a catch-up day. My weekend plans are to putter in the garage on Saturday, then I have a woodworking class from 9 until 4 on Sunday.
This is the only hobby I’ve ever had, I think, that Mom didn’t laugh at. It almost feels weird.
Have a great day!

Good morning ladies: We had a big storm earlier in the evening which delayed the booms some....then it sounded like WW3 for hours and hours. The babies were all drugged up on their Thunder Wunders....Chip grabbed Treys before he could get it so he had two...at his weight I kept a close eye on him for hours. Neighbor and I went out for an ice cream cone and that was the extent of my celebration. To day I need a few random things from Walmart. Tomorrow is Tea Day and we are going to a Thai Place that is near a large Farmers Market. I think I deserve an orchid.

Greetings!
The cicadas are gone!!!! It was so peaceful yesterday when I got home and was unpacking my car. Ahhhh. I guess now I have to figure out when I can get back out into the yard to weed and trim overgrown bushes.
My strategy of diving home on July 4th was excellent! I have never had such low traffic volume on the notorious I80-94 section by the state line before. I came through there at 5pm which on a normal weekday would have been a massive congested mess.
I had to tweak my first hike a bit yesterday as the guidebook was hallucinating that the access trail at the first state nature area intersected with the Buckeye trail. No, the access trail goes west and the Buckeye trail is well east of the the parking area for the access trail and across a road. So I parked at a different spot and had a lovely 5.2 miles of out and back with lots of beautiful hemlock woods and interesting rock formations. I only saw one other hiker.
Then I went to the other state nature area and finally saw a waterfall that I could hear as I was going down the trail! Then I parked at different trailhead and got in another 2.9 miles in muggy, hot, and buggy conditions on the trails open to the public. I was so soaked from sweat that when I got back to my car, I just changed in the parking lot. There were only a couple other cars and I didn't care if someone passing by on the highway saw anything. I doubt they did as they were all zooming by. I'm so ready to be hiking in Colorado without all this humidity. 4 weeks from tomorrow is when I depart!
Today is catching up on stuff and I will get yesterday's photos uploaded. Tomorrow is my kayaking class through REI. I need to print and sign the waiver and figure out what stuff I am taking along with me.
Have a great day!

Hi, Thurs GHGs yes Tracking 44 day streak/OP Activity yes Liquids yes
The cicadas finally emerged here, and started at around 6ish. Then, fireworks being set off from boats on the lake and in the park areas nearby started around 7 and went on and on and on until after 2am. Next, the revving and zooming along the Lakeshore Drive took up the noise slack, with an extra bass music soundtrack on the side. Nap in my future, there was one yesterday to make up that night of crappy sleep. I'm getting out soon to visit a large cemetary with a preserve area attached that has excellent birding opportunities, and should be pretty quiet today, I would think. It's fairly cool out, and the humidity is dropping, thankfully. Happy Friday, my dear friends!

Good (barely) morning!
I have already been to the vet with the dogs. They needed their Lyme boosters. It was quick and easy, but Jordan was a mess.
We stayed in yesterday. Poor Jordan was a mess with all the fireworks. They were all around us. Even with her trazadone, she was a mess. I think I am going to give her a full dose tonight. It will either storm, or there will be more fireworks.
WF is doing better. She is on some pain meds and resting. Hopefully she will be ready to roll again soon.
My bruise is still dull in color, but tender to the touch.
Something I ate yesterday did a number on my gut. I did not get to sleep until about 2:00 this morning. I, too, may be napping this afternoon.
We are supposed to have baseball tonight, but the weather may change that. I would hope that the weather holds, but cools down. I don't think it's fun to sit in the hot sun, even if I do love baseball.
I hope you all have a great day!

Greetings!
Seems like we have had 3 Saturdays in a row.... Lovely weather today for my kayaking class. And it looks nice for tomorrow, too, so I will get out on my bike.
I'm caught up on photos. I also figured out why the guidebook said that the path connected with the Buckeye trail. Turns out that last summer they moved a section of the route off of roads and it now does got through 2 of the state natural areas west of the parking area that I needed a permit for. Of course the maps that I bought from the Buckeye Trail association didn't show the reroute, nor have they bothered to update their interactive map. I finally tracked down the new route from some other sources. The Ice Age Trail Alliance has really spoiled me as their map updates are pretty much immediate. The new route looks lovely with some caves and waterfalls so I'll hike it on a future trip to that area.
The check from the state showed up yesterday! $61.43! I'm sure that will be spent at Trader Joe's today as I need to restock.
Have a great day!

Yest GHGs nope APs yep Tracking all 54 points
The cemetary/park preserve visits were mostly a bust, bird-wise. Probably because I left the apt later than I had planned, and was out there in the midday sun. I did see a gorgeous young white tailed buck along the pond perimeter, and then 3 ft away from me right off the path a bit later. That startled both of us a bit.
I got run into full tilt by a bicyclist speeding around a corner on the sidewalk on my way home. He picked up his bike, and rode right off without even looking at me. Sigh. Luckily I did not hit my head on the nearby fire hydrant, but have a varying assortment of bumps, swellings, bruises, cuts, jammed fingers, and road rash. There was a White Castle right by the nearest busstop, so I went in and got a soda w ice to hold against my hand, and decided to get some sliders/fries to take home w me. I guess they taste better when you're younger, with a snootful of beer in you at 3 in the morning. The last time I ate them was in NYC, over 20 years ago. Lesson learned, I do regret the points as well as the mild tummy discomfort later on as well. 🙄
Back on plan today. I'm heading out to the ponds circuit shortly, to work the stiffness out of my poor banged up knees. England team soccer match at 11, not terribly hopeful they'll advance to the semi-finals of the Euros, they've been very lackluster. No fireworks last night! Twas a miracle!

Good Morning Ladies: I stayed in bed too long this am instead of getting up about 6 to dog walk. It was damned hot and muggy already. Lesson learned (again??). Yesterday was Publix for meds and BOGO's. Lunch with the twins. A new BBQ Bowl from Sonny's. Delish and there is enough for 3 meals for me for $10.49. Today is Tea Group.

Happy Saturday!
Horrible game last night, wonderful weather!
We have a birthday party for a friend today at the local vineyard. It is a lovely place on the river and near the trail. If the weather holds, I may even try to walk a bit. We shall see.
Another good day of tracking, though I haven't done much of anything about the house or walking the last couple of days. I need to make lists of what needs to get done. I am no good without a list.
I hope you all have a wonderful day!

I woke up at 3 this morning and couldn’t get back to sleep, so it has been a lazy, wasted day.
We’re getting some much needed rain. Yay!

Greetings!
I really enjoyed the kayaking class yesterday. We had perfect weather and the instructor was great. There were 9 participants as well as another assistant to make sure everyone stayed safe. I've signed up for a kayak tour next Sunday at the same location so that I can get more practice before I head out to Colorado.
After I got back home, I got over to Trader Joe's and I also baked a batch of cookies.
This morning I'm heading out for a bike ride then I'll work on catching up financial stuff.
Have a great day!

Morning.
It was a relatively mellow weekend at Casa del V. Deck guy laid the weed block fabric and shored up the things that Dad had pointed out. He was already planning to, I just hadn't seen a blueprint or talked to him about the plans. I found a guy to deliver some rock. The rock will be put on top of the weed block fabric and in the moat that is at the end of my driveway. MG got out there yesterday shoveling and using the wheelbarrow. I started helping by spreading it inside the framework of the deck. It was in direct sunlight for both of us and I don't know how he handles it. I don't handle it well at all. After working only a short bit with rests, I gave up the ghost. Because we're working in Ripley's yard, the gate was open, so I took her on a short walk that turned into a long walk that turned into a program run - just over 2 miles. It wore us both out bigly. It was a pretty significant recovery once we got home for both of us. I don't think I'll put that much stress on the old girl in the future. Her energy at the end was way down and it took a long time for her to get back to a normal rhythm. Meanwhile MG was just taking a break by the time we got back. Then he packed it in for the night as rain moved in.
So a month ago I downloaded a fasting app - Simple. I've been very good about logging and checking in. Not so good about all the choices. After a month, I'm down 8#. I also am dual tracking with the WW app and while I've used more than 20 weeklies, I still have WP/AP left and they reset tonight. I haven't been using all the points, but still feel ok with the amounts and kinds of food I'm eating (not different from what I normally eat, just less and withing an 8 hour window rather than grazing at any hour). The one thing I have added is an electrolyte drink. While I don't like the thought of drinking my points, the flavored drink does help me get in a lot more water easily.
GHGs ok Tracking 13/23 Activity lots Liquids tons

Howdy!
This is today’s class from 9:30 to 4:30: “Learn the basics from the ground up... Join Sandy as he takes you through the woodshop and lets you put your hands on every tool that you could need to use while woodworking. We will cover the Table Saw, Jointer, Router, Sander, Planer, and Dust Collection. If you have been looking for a BEGINNING WOODWORKING class, look no further... this is the class for you. This is a hands on class so be ready to have some fun.“ We make a cutting board using several different types of wood, so the choosing, cutting, shaping, gluing, clamping, finishing, etc. should be interesting.
I plugged in my $15 saw yesterday and it works! The blade is rusted, but that’s easily replaced. Hopefully I’ll learn how to use the thing today.
Hurricane Beryl is scheduled to come to my neighborhood in the wee hours of Tuesday morning if the predictions are correct. Hurricanes frequently shift before they make landfall, so we will either get a lot of rain if it goes to the west of us, or hardly any rain if it goes to the east of us. (Hurricanes spin counter-clockwise, so the east side of it is the “wet” side.)
I’m quietly supporting you all in your weight loss efforts, but not participating. I have learned that the more I focus on dieting, the more it messes with my head in a very not good, counter-productive way. I’ve maintained a 20 lb weight loss (I weigh between 111 and 113) for about a year by not focusing on it. So I’m cheering for you all, but I need to skip over the diet talk. Keep posting it if it helps you, though!
Have a great day!

Yesterday was tracking day #45 GHGs yes Liquids yes Activity yes Another quiet night-a miracle on a Saturday! I went to bed at 10:30, and actually went to sleep then! Made another batch of the Vitality Salad just now, with a few tweaks. Added chopped yellow bell pepper and lemon zest, skipped the nuts, swapped the maple syrup in the dressing for red wine vinegar. I really like this dish.
I'll be making the Skinnytaste Artichoke Pie tonight for dinner-new recipe #2 for my July Challenge.
Lovely here, getting ready to go on a walkabout.
