I’m so mad and sad and pissed off. I showed up for the class and no one was there. I called and their voicemail isn’t set up. I emailed them saying I was registered for today’s class, and the guy just called me. He said they advertise the Sunday class just in case there’s overflow from the classes scheduled for Friday and Saturday. They make you call to register, so they could have told me that. Instead they registered me for the Friday class. WTH??? They only offer the classes one weekend per month, and I’ll have started my 7 week class at Austin School of Furniture by then. They’re giving me a refund, but I still feel like crying because I was so looking forward to it.
ETA: The guy just emailed me saying, “I checked your original receipt and yes we did register you for a class today!” He also said the employee who flubbed is no longer working there.

Happy Sunday!
We completely changed our plans last night. No party, no music, no outdoors. It was just too hot. Instead, we went to one of our favorite places, which we haven't been to in a long time, and it was great to see our friends there. After dinner, we went to a local brewery and visited with friends there.
We stayed up too late and slept in. It is going to be a day out with the dogs today. That means cooler places or indoor dog friendly spaces. (Have I mentioned how much I hate hot weather?)
WF may feel good enough for a short walk tomorrow. If not, I will go with my girls on my own. I have rested enough.
I had another good food day. I got on the scale for an unofficial check of my weight. I had not been on a scale for a very long time and was pleasantly surprised. I will officially WI on Wednesday and see how things are going for real.
I hope you all have a great day!

Our asparagus drops to under $2/lb at some places, I'm sorry it's hard for you to find cheaply, V. pepper I'm so mad on your behalf! That's inexcuseable of them. They should offer you a private class. Are you going to be ok at the furniture making class, or will they also teach the essentials you were expecting to learn today?

Howdy!
The hurricane moved east so we may get an inch or two of rain at most. It’s supposed to go right over Houston. I miss living in Houston, but I sure don’t miss hurricanes and tropical storms.
My weekend wasn’t refreshing so I’m not excited about the week to come. Bah humbug.
Have a great day!

Greetings!
I had a nice 52+ mile bike ride yesterday although it was getting warm the last hour or so. Then I took care of a bunch of financial stuff.
Today I will be back on campus.
Have a great day!

Morning.
Yesterday the girls wanted to get out as the temps were predicted to be high 70's to low 80's. It was all of 85 while we were out there. But we went to the trailhead for at least a little shade. I managed 2.6mi and CSO did a bit more than me. Since we all run at our own pace, none of us is completely out of sight, but I'm usually pulling up the rear. YF said that she hit a wall and walked the last half for only about 2 miles. I am dealing with some blisters after the walk with Ripley the other day wearing shit shoes. I should know better by now. My work boots are not helping the issues today.
MG spent the day hauling rock from one spot to the deck. I don't know how many loads he hauled on the wheelbarrow, but he put a dent in the pile out front. Once I had recovered from the run, he called me out to assess the progress. I grabbed the shovel and started evening out the piles to fill the bare spots he couldn't reach just by dumping out the barrow. Then I used the rake to smooth over the unevenness. That "soothing zen rock garden" thing with the rake? Notsomuch. MG mentioned that having sweat equity is not the flex he'd planned on. He'd have been happy just to write a check and have someone else expend the blood, sweat, and tears to do this grunt work.
Deck guy is supposed to be there today. I think he is looking to put on the steps. Steps, floorboards, railing. Sounds simple, right? Maybe he'll have it done so I can pop a cork on a bottle of wine after work./// He is actually making nice strides with the progress, and it will be in use sooner than I imagine.
Dang it! I forget that I want to check in here with GHG/Points

Good morning!
The traffic yesterday was ridiculous! We ended up taking secondary roads to get out of the gridlock. We went to a brewery to talk to the head guy. He volunteers for a bunch of festivals and we wanted ideas on how to get on at these things. That is what we want to do in retirement for fun.
WF is not ready for a walk yet. I may take my girls out in a bit to a shady part of the trail before I go to the chiropractor this afternoon.
I hope you all have a great day!

Hi, Yest Tracking: Yes GHGs: missing some protein Liquids: yes Activity: Didn't get myass moving early enough. It got really hot, then it rained so I took a DOR. I had some second day additional stiffness from the bike thing on Friday, so I iced and heating padded a few areas.
It got too hot to make the artichoke pie yesterday, so I'm planning on making it this evening. My telehealth follow up from my neuropsych appt is tomorrow afternoon. I tested the video connection, and got my clipboard out for taking notes. I've already got some butterflies over this. I'm going to go up to see the plover chicks early in the a.m. and then walk home to try to calm myself with nature. I'm hoping to get out for a pond circuit walkabout as it cools down this evening.

Howdy!
I woke up at 2 being annoyed about a work situation. I hate when I do that. I did get back to sleep and slept an extra hour, but I’ve still got to deal with the situation today. Yesterday it involved yelling. I don’t like yelling.
In my free time this week I’m thinking through building a little box over the weekend. That will be a good learning exercise, and will give me a project. Other than that, I’ve got nothing planned for the weekend. How can it be such a long way off?
Have a great day!

Greetings!
It was good to see my friend/co-worker yesterday. It had been about 3 weeks so we had a lot to catch up on.
I snagged a spot Saturday for a bison tour at the grasslands west of me. The public tours fill up very fast but they had a cancellation that they posted on FB so I grabbed it. It is in the afternoon so I will go for a bike ride out there in the morning.
The not so good news yesterday is that my dear friend from high school's husband died yesterday, I think he was still in his 60s. He had fallen back in April and broke some ribs. When they were checking him out in the ER, they discovered that he had bone cancer. It is rare that cancer originates in the bones, rather it metastasizes from somewhere else. After many tests, he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. He started chemotherapy last month, but then was having terrible episodes of hypoglycemia and was in the hospital a couple of times. This last time, they discovered a lung infection but none of the antibiotics worked against it and his kidneys were failing. This all happened so quickly. She is my age. Second marriage for both of them. I just can't even imagine what she is going through now. My buffalo tour is out in her area so I will see if I can pop in and visit for a few minutes on Saturday. I don't know what the arrangements will be yet for any services.
Give your loved ones a hug. Tomorrow isn't guaranteed for any of us.

Morning.
Yesterday at work was smooth. A quick nap and MG & I were on our way to Manhattan for my massage. She had rescheduled me last month and I had really needed it. I don't notice how much I need it until after she's done. I was wiped out. We had supper at Texas Roadhouse and it was perfect, if much noisier than Longhorn (our usual place). I had a salad, salmon, and a sweet potato with cinnamon butter. And a margarita.
I decided to take Ripley out for a walk when we got home. We went almost 2 miles to the downtown Pony Express statue. Oofos recovery flip flops are not designed for a 2 mile walk. My blisters that were feeling better were joined by another (super tiny) between my toes.

Good morning!
I am up early, for summer, because I have a retirement meeting at 9:00. I didn't sleep well worrying that I would miss my alarm. I hate that feeling.
I never got out with the dogs. It was too hot for me. WF may want to get out after my meeting. Hopefully we will set out in the woods a little further up the mountains and in the shade.
We are supposed to go baseball tonight. I hope it cools down before gametime. I also hope the team plays better than they have lately.
I am going to finish my coffee and get ready for my meeting. I hope you all have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies: It was muggy outside even at 7 this am due to heavy lightening storms again last night. I was passing out Thunder Wunders. Did not get done most of what I wanted to yesterday, but did settle a couple of more pressing items. The other is just work and easily put off...LOL. Thank heaven for small favors.

Howdy!
I won the battle that kept me awake night before last. Our lease for an office we no longer use ends July 31. Last week the owner found a tenant who wanted to move in on July 7. Fine. We moved our few remaining items so that could happen, except for our sign. The owner was being an unreasonable, unhinged jerk about our sign and was threatening to cut it apart. We’ve been going back and forth about the sign for a week now. I told him what he could do legally and what he couldn’t. He must have checked with his lawyer after he went off the rails Monday because he called yesterday with his tail between his legs. Jerk.
Winning is good. 😁
I’ve got to find a class or something to get me out of the house this weekend. When I’m alone all weekend, I talk way too much to random strangers in the grocery store. I have become THAT person. Hah!
Have a great day!

Greetings!
How is it Wednesday already? Time is accelerating as I have a lot of things to get arranged before my big trip followed by the looming fall semester.
Out of the blue yesterday morning, I got a text from my realtor that someone was interested in the big space I still have for rent. I was over there since the fire extinguishers were due to be inspected and re-tagged. A very nice couple came over at 3pm and loved it! She is a chiropractor so this will be a good fit for her business. Turns out that she is an alumni of my university! We overlapped by 1 year. Before they came, I cleaned up a few things and replaced a burned out light bulb over the sink. I have the locksmith scheduled for tomorrow as a couple of the deadbolts are being uncooperative. The painter had brought one of them to my attention and then I discovered that 2 of the outside doors have issues too. But I had decided to wait until I had a new tenant because I'm feeling the money drain of having that space sit vacant.
So tomorrow will be busy as I will have DH help me bring up a table from the basement so I can have my microwave in my office. I will also pick up a dorm room size fridge from Costco for my space. I will miss having a full kitchen but I'm not over there that much so will manage just fine. I have a few things to move from the cabinets and fridge before Friday. The new tenant will sign all the paperwork and get the keys Friday afternoon.
Today I am over at one of the professional schools (medical, dental, optometry, and much more) we deal with a lot for a special advisors event that goes all day. I'm looking forward to seeing more of their facilities. Then I need to swing by the arboretum as the tags for my dad's tree are ready.
Colorado will be here before I know it.
Have a great day!

Morning.
Yesterday was mellow. Our inernets and phone service and tv were out areawide (from 30 miles in almost every direction from the way it was described) yesterday. That had everyone a bit discombobulated. Deck guy was taking care of something else and didn't show up. YF & CSO met YMV & me at the Mexican place for supper and drinks last night. We had a nice time chatting. I didn't get anything else done.
Tomorrow I'm taking off to be ready for an overnight trip to DesMoines with YF and our high school teacher friend Carla for an Edgar Allen Poe evening at a speakeasy - "a 4 part cocktail experience...dedicated to the stories of [EAP]".
See you next week!
ETA Tracked. no exercise. plenty of water and veggies.

Good morning!
Eye appointment this morning. Walk later. Baseball this evening. The temps will be cooler, but the humidity is palpable!
Retirement meeting was interesting. I will not be making as much money as I thought next year, but we will be ok. DH is freaking out, though. I can be as frugal as need be--pinto beans are delicious!
I hope you all have a great day!

Hi, Yesterday Tracking streak intact GHGs low on protein Liquids good Activity yes I did get myself out for a few hours yesterday, though overslept so didn't make it up to see the babies. I did have a banner day, heron-wise, around the ponds and zoo-see my FB post. I'm so happy the great blues and little green herons are back around. I'm hoping the plover fam are all ok this morning. The consult call w the neuropsych went much better than I was dreading, in terms of how I performed on the tests vs the mean. Nothing that isn't explained by normal aging process at this time, so I do have a baseline set now. She is referring me to someone for talk therapy if I want it, to help with anxiety and what she sees as mild depression. She believes that because of family history, I am being hypervigilant and likely overthinking things and setting up unrealistic expectations for myself. She's not wrong. So, I'm going to try to relax my mind better, and not second guess myself all the time, which I don't even think I'm doing it's so second nature. We've had pouring rain overnight and this morning, thanks to Beryl 🙄, so I finally made the Skinnytaste Artichoke Pie this morning for breakfast. It's quite tasty. I tweaked it as I was making it, so I could have a larger serving for only 2 more points. I threw in some fresh dill I had, and onky used a scant cut of shredded mozz for the top instead of 1 1/3 cups. Many people left reviews that it was like a hard crust on top w that much cheese, and I was fine with that amount. 1/8th of a 9" pie just isn't filling enough, 1/6th was. 🙂 pepper yay for being right! And I'm probably the random person you're talking with at the grocery 🙂. newmoose I hope the ballclub improves for your fun game outings! V , enjoy your Poe experience-that sounds really interesting. Glad you had your massage! sherrydorlando2 , I'm sorry you and the babies have had such scary weatherating lately! gadgetgirlil , what a relief to find someone who can rent your space! Maybe they'll be cool with you sharing the kitchen space...? COOLING TOWEL INFO: If you have Aldi in your area, they will have the cooling towels in their next Wednesday's Special Buys, in sets of 2. The cooling technology is truly amazing, highly recommend.

Howdy!
I found a class for this weekend. It’s a foundational woodworking class using hand tools. That’s perfect because that’s what I’m interested in more than power tools, which is what last week’s cancelled class was about. It’s at an Amish place about an hour and a half from here. I squeaked in and got the last spot in the class. I was surprised I could get in at all because all their other classes are full. Mom suggested I go up Friday night and come back Sunday. I’m inclined to go up Saturday morning because I love a good early morning road trip. And I’m cheap. 🥸 I’ll decide today.
I got a nastygram from the community garden yesterday about the weeds near my plot. I’ll stop in Sunday and deal with that. It’s so stinking hot. Why can’t the weeds just die like everything else?
Have a great day!

Greetings!
I really enjoyed the advisor's day at the nearby university that only has graduate level healthcare programs. We got to be hands on in the dental simulation lab! We made an impression of teeth, drilled teeth, filled them with composite and used that special blue light to cure them! We got to see all the other neat things they have in their labs such as the simulation model of a pregnant woman that gives birth! In the afternoon, they took us over to their multi-speciality clinic where the 3rd and 4th year students from dental, optometry, PT/OT, PA, and osteopathic medicine work with people from the community. It was very impressive and I see why their dental program graduates are in very high demand when they graduate as they get to do techniques at a much higher skill level than a lot of other dental programs. It also explains why their tuition is higher as all this technology is very pricey.
On my way home, I stopped by the arboretum and got the tags for my father's tribute tree - pictures on FB.
Today's mission is to get a small dorm-room fridge, make sure the locksmith fixes the uncooperative locks, and get my few personal items out of the new tenant's space. I also plan to haul some stuff over to Goodwill to free up some storage in a closet at the property.
Have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies: For the walk early this am we stepped out and it was raining and I nearly got whip lash when the babies jerked me back into the house. I do have several errands today, but they can wait until after lunch and I will start some laundry. The weather app says it will rain for 33 more minutes...LOL

Good morning! I slept longer than I meant to this morning, so my walk has been put off for another 30 minutes. WF is doing better every day so we are adding a bit of time to our daily walks from 30-45 to ? for today. We can't go too much longer today, as I have a dentist appointment at 1:15 and I will have to get home, eat, shower and such before heading to the dentist. Eye doctor's appointment was uneventful, but I should have never driven home. I could not see well enough to be safe. I will not make that mistake again and am angry at myself for trying it. Baseball last night was awful again. We did end up scoring 5 runs, but had NO hits! They scored 10 runs on 16 hits. It was painful. Tonight we play the best team in the league. We have beaten them before, but not playing like we have been. I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Greetings!
Busy but productive day yesterday. I'm nearly all set for the new tenant. Got my mini fridge at Costco for $99, DH helped me bring up the table from the basement, I decluttered half of the hallway closet, and dealt with a few other things.
I will be on campus this morning trying to finish up 2 recommendation letters and then my co-worker/friend is picking up lunch to celebrate my birthday. Then I will meet with the new tenant.
Tomorrow will be a bike ride and then the bison tour. I need to check in with my friend to see if she will be around. Not only did her husband die on Monday, but yesterday she had to say goodbye to one of their dogs. She said this has been the worst week of her life 💔
Have a great day!
