Goooood morning!
I found out the Amish place where my class is tomorrow is having a 6 day class for parts 2 and 3 of this class in October. I may make that my vacation week. I mentioned it at work and someone said, “Just wait. You’ll meet the love of your life and he’ll be Amish.” Then they started going on about how he’ll have one of those long, scraggly beards I dislike so much. Then someone chimed in with, “With any luck he’ll have alopecia!” 😝 What a group.
I’ve decided to drive up tomorrow morning and come home tomorrow night. I’ll take my toothbrush and a clean shirt in case it runs long and I decide to stay. It’s not far from Baylor University, so finding a hotel room won’t be hard.
Have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies: I am up and at 'em early. Couldn't sleep past 4 am., but stayed in bed listening to a book and watching videos. Today is the winery and I am dressed in full red hat regalia. The tour better be inside.

Good morning, I for got to post yesterday, it was my 50th consecutive day tracking. I also have been using my meal planner pad again, to help me manage leftovers and set up where I might need fast prep opportunities for meals. I spent some time just now clearing out Sweetie's shelves, and got the old plastic litterboxes off the balcony and into the trash. I also had a quiet moment with Mr Pizza and a few other soft toys, and then pitched them. One is still unaccounted for, I'm sure I will run across it someday. I hadn't realized I still have some Mr Pizzas left, along with an Eggsy and Kevin Bacon-she loved those silvervine toys. I'm still hanging onto a few old ones, I can't quite bring myself to purge it all yet. I'm feeling good about this step. Heading out for a grocery run soon, I'm stocking up on canned artichoke hearts and chickpeas, as the Vitality Salad is going to be a regular the rest of the summer. I bought a bag of lovely raw pumpkin seeds to stir in, only an extra point or 2, depending on the amount.
I had a really nice sushi lunch and catch-up w my old gym workout buddy. I hadn't seen him in a few years, tho we've kept up on and off with texting. He's coming off of shoulder surgery, and I was a bit slow getting up from the table. We were remembering fondly our days doing 2 minute planks, and squats while balancing on an upsidedown BOSU ball, etc. I need to get on the universal weight machine downstairs...
Have a good Friday, friends!

Happy Friday!
Our team won big last night! It was a great turnaround from the night before. I even enjoyed a hotdog for dinner. I got so burned out on those last summer and I am glad to only eat one now and then. It was delicious and so worth every point!
DH are pitting a bazillion cherries right now for cherry bounce. I saw a video about making it and we decided that we would make some as Christmas gifts. I had just bought bourbon in Indiana where it was about $20 cheaper a bottle than it is here, so we are going to use some of that. I hope it is going to be worth the effort.
No plans for tonight, which is nice. I'm sure we will find something to get into.
I hope you all have a great day!

Hello weekend!
Wowza, last week sure was busy. Got those 2 recommendation letters done yesterday, then had a nice lunch with my co-worker/friend. Then it was back over to the rental property. Lease is signed, keys given to the tenant, and the checks are deposited at the bank.
This morning is a bike ride, then the bison tour. I will be able to stop and see my dear friend after the tour and give her a big hug.
Tomorrow is the kayak tour. The heat index will be above 100 but hopefully we will have a breeze out on the water.
Have a great day!

Howdy! It’s wood working day! Woohooo!!! There’s a restaurant on the grounds, but the menu shows a lot of big, heavy meals like someone who is plowing a field with a horse would like. (Those Amish! They offer a class in how to do that.) I think I’m going to take a sandwich and stroll the grounds instead. I wish I had some of Cyn’s salad to take with.) It’s only supposed to get up to 93° today, so that’s perfect for being out strolling around, right? 😝 Yesterday was a very frustrating work day. There are some things I haven’t done well because I am just overloaded right now. Plus I need a break to reset my brain. There’s nothing that can’t be fixed; I just hate not doing a good job. It will be fine after I kick myself for a day or three. Have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies: Yesterday was a long lovely day with my Hatter friends. Today will be multiple errands. Woke up at 6...should have dog walked then. Instead I played online and it was hot as bejessus at 8. Yesterday was a chicken salad wrap, but the wrap was too big/much so I just ate the chicken salad. was great.

Helloooo, Got my early morning inner manic going at 5:30. Did laundry, folded, and put it away. Baked a chicken breast to shred. Roasted 3 trays of veggies, 2 of which were for... Another batch of Vitality Salad assembled. Vaccuumed and dusted. All dishes washed. This time I used some 90 second farro I had in the pantry, instead of cous cous for the salad. I also added some quartered, chopped Persian cukes to it as well.
Heading out soon to hit DSW with a bunch of coupons and discounts. I'd also like to find a pair of light weight lineny pants somewhere, to wear tomorrow w one of the new tops I bought.
It's gonna be so hot tomorrow for the street music fest. I want to go to and dance around to my Waco Bros friends. Also a tribute to an old BritPop band called Big Star whom I loved will be playing later on. Add to that, the England footy team made the finals of the Euro Championships against a very strong Spain team, and that match starts at 2. I'll need to find a pub near the street fest to watch the match, and hope it doesn't go into OT, as it could be going at the same time as the Wacos play. Feast or famine with my "social" life. Nothing for weeks on end, then multiple events on the same day.

Happy Hot Saturday!
I got up early this morning and then went right back to sleep. I wish I had just gotten up, since I missed the FM and now it's too hot to walk. I may see if WF wants to find a good shady place to go in a bit.
Baseball tonight and tomorrow night.
I hope you all have a great day!

Greetings! Wowza, it was a long but good day yesterday. I started my bike ride around 6:30am and only the last 15 miles were getting hot. Just over 50 miles. Since I had plenty of time before the bison tour, I drove up to the nearest town and went to the DQ for dairy free Dilly bars. Used their bathroom to change clothes. Then back to the grasslands for the tour. Glad I was early because somehow they had more people signed up than they had room for (2 truckloads of 10 each) - some sort of glitch with SignupGenius. But the big group of 10 people had a lot of young children (small butts) so they were able to accommodate everyone. There were 2 pickup trucks with extended cabs. I sat on the wood bench in the truck bed as that gave better views. Sort of like an amusement ride as the grass roads through the preserves were uneven. But we didn't lose anyone so that is good! The grasslands are huge! You don't realize how big it is from the roads in the area. We got to see where they check the bison once a year in the fall using special corrals and a "box" that gently squeezes the bison to keep them calm while they get their annual vaccination (required under state law as they are considered "stock" animals), a hair sample for DNA testing and a stool sample. The bison is in the box less than 2 minutes. This is the only human contact that the bison have. They keep their herd around 120 max so they will remove certain animals each year and relocate them to other areas of the country. They have been sending "starter kits" of bison to various Indian reservations at no charge. Then we drove deeper in the preserve and finally found the bison. They were over by some woodlands. It was very cool to see them! When we found the bison, we started hearing thunder. There were dark clouds to the west. A pop-up thunderstorm was moving in. So we had to cut the tour short and we had just gotten to the paved road when it started to rain a bit. Got through the gate and by the time we got back to the visitor's center, the rain was really coming down. But everyone was safe, so that is what mattered. I'm really glad I was able to go on this tour! I will get pictures up on FB this morning. Then I went and saw my dear friend. One of her friends from Alabama (was originally from this area) had driven up and is staying with her through Wednesday. She's helping her with the endless paperwork. Her young neighbors are amazing and have been helping cut the grass as well as bring her laundry up from the basement. I'm really relived that she has support as her step children are a piece of work and I don't see any of them helping her out now that their dad is gone. Some serious dysfunction in that family - generational dysfunction We chatted for nearly 2 hours before I headed back home. There will be a Celebration of Life service on 7/27 so I will go to that as well. I was absolutely exhausted by the time I got home around 6:30pm. I had left the house at 5:00am. I'm moving slow this morning. Glad my kayak thing is in the afternoon. The storms have brought the temperatures down a bit so I think we will be fine out on the water. I'm certainly acclimated to the heat with all my biking and hiking in hot temperatures. Have a great day!

Howdy!
I learned sooooooo much at the woodworking class yesterday. I’ve got lots of practicing to do before part 2 in October. Having someone see what I’m doing wrong and explain the whole process is so much better than endless, time consuming internet searching.
I’m glad I’ve been using a stand up desk most of the time at work. Standing all day doesn’t really bother me. I have some Timberland hiking boots that aren’t great for hiking but they are insanely comfortable, so I’ll take those and my chef shoes when I do the 6 day class. The guy who taught the class said 6 days of woodworking is pretty tiring.
We finished early, so I came home instead of spending the night up there. I’m glad I did because I have several chores I need to deal with today — pull weeds around my garden plot, plan meals and shop, pick up prescriptions, etc.
I need to get out and take a walk and do the gardening before it gets too hot. Have a great day!

Morning.
I went off the rails with food over the weekend.
The Poe evening with Teacher friend and YF was SO. MUCH. FUN! I had done well with the travelling and food up to the point that we put off eating supper that night until after the event because we had gotten a late start on the road. Then after the drinks at the event we couldn't find a place that was open that could handle the gluten restrictions we had. Then we couldn't find a place that even had the kitchen open. Finally, we settled on a Chinese pizza place. Right next to a weed dispensary, so it ~has~ to be good. There was gf crust on the menu and the options looked good. We ended up splitting a peanut sauce breadstick appetizer, a chopped salad, and a pizza. The meat of them was pretty spicy, but really good. Teacher friend got some moo shu tacos too. I actually did well with stopping before I was too full. But it was well past midnight before we got back to the room. Breakfast the next morning was at the hotel and was also reasonable amounts and choices, but hours earlier than it should have been for my schedule. We picked up YF's in-laws on our way through Omaha and were pretty cramped for the 2+ hour trip home for 5 of us in YF's smallish sedan. But we all managed. We also didn't get much in the way of moving done except right before and after the show. And with the travel, there was not the water consumption that should have helped with cravings. Then I got into cookies and cookie dough. Because, as we ALLL know, I'm smart like that.
Deck guy showed up yesterday and the day before and got about half of the decking laid. He's out of town until at least tomorrow, so the other half, steps, and railings will wait a bit longer. He's making decent progress considering the limited time he has. But it seems that he is (wisely) avoiding the heat and only out for a few hours each time he comes over. It is more of a whine than a complaint. And I knew that he was working this as a side hustle. BUT I JUST WANT MY DAMN DECK DONE. /endwhine.
Back at it today with water and tracking. *dusts off*

Good Morning Ladies: Well, maybe not so good. I have been awake since 3:30. Even took a melatonin at 5 and not another drop of sleep. Got a lot of errands done yesterday. One of my BFF ever died yesterday morning. Her son called. We have been friends and worked together for approx 35 years. I called her my other mother. She had a wonderful 93 years. Today will be bills, plants and typical stuff I have put off. It was so early that we had a "not as hot" extra long walk this am.

Good morning!
Baseball was so fun last night. The team is playing so well right now. I don't know if there is enough season left to get to the playoffs, but it sure would be fun to see if they do. Baseball tonight, too.
No walk today, too many other things going on. It is way too hot, too.
I forgot to get the stuff for the vitality salad, so I am going to run back to the store in a bit. I want to try it before making it for the party next Saturday.
Tracking is going well. No idea about the scale yet, but I feel better.
I hope you all have a great day!

Greetings!
I need to go to work to rest today 😂 I was really wiped out when I got back from kayaking yesterday. We had crazy storms last night but I was so tired that I barely noticed them.
Got lucky with the weather for kayaking as there had been rain in the morning. But by noon, the skies were sunny and the temps were in the low 80's with a nice breeze. It was good to get out on the water for about 90 minutes. The wind did pick up so it was a little choppy but still fine. When I was driving home, there were pockets of rain in the area and it rained a bit when I was pulling into our driveway.
I don't know if I will fit in another kayaking session before my trip. I have a lot going on both at work and elsewhere. Today is a memorial service for one of the residents that I was good friends with at the retirement community. Way back in 2006(!!), I walked with her for her 3rd walking marathon up in Milwaukee to celebrate her 70th birthday. We trained that whole summer and then the marathon was on her actual birthday in October. We had so much fun. She passed away last month after being in the memory care unit for a few months.
This week I MUST get out and weed my flower beds. Looks like we will have some cooler weather so I will take advantage of that to tame the jungle. I probably will need 2 sessions to get things back under control before I head out of town.
Have a great day!

Howdy!
Tired.
Monday.
Again.
Bleh.
Yesterday I finished cleaning out my garden and getting it ready for the fall crops. I left a couple of tomato plants that might produce in the fall. Everyone is starting seeds inside now for planting at the end of August. I need to think about what to plant.
There was one project from Saturday’s class that I didn’t finish in class, so I worked on it yesterday. I also finally put on my big girl panties and replaced the dead outlet in the garage. Electrical things give me the heebie jeebies, so I felt pretty awesome about getting that done. Rawwwrrrrrr!
Have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies: Heavy rain most of the night. Walked babies at 6:45 and it was so humid it kinked my curly hair. Slept horrible again. Woke by up 1 damn am. pfft. did get in a couple brief naps. don't know what's up. Washer and dryer are going, will see what else seems worth it. Working on grocery list and menu and packing list for Fri-Mon at a resort with DD (off and on--she has to work but we are close) and 2 grands and 3 friends for each of them. I have decided it will be less hectic with the boys....plus the B-day party on Sunday.

Morning.
Mellow day yesterday. No yoga because of everyone's schedules. Deck guy should be there this morning to work some more on the floor. I will be getting restarted on the back shed this week. CSO's granddaughter competed this week in dance nationals at Galveston and the whole team did amazing. Because we're all so close, it feels like a win for me too.
Food yesterday was meh. I need to do something about that.

Hi, gadgetgirlil , I'm sorry for your loss, it sounds like you two were lovely friends for each other. 3 out of 4 of the tiny piping plover babies have died over the past week, from unknown causes. They are doing necropsies, hopefully they can determine why in enough time to perhaps raise the remaining chick in captivity. I did have a great time at the Waco Brothers yesterday, despite the heat. It showered on us a few times, which was refreshing. The England team lost, which was not unexpected. Thankfully, their manager's contract is up, so with hope they will hire someone who actually knows how to field a team with more than one strategy. Tracking: streak continues GHGs: yes, and added shredded chicken to my vitality salad for more protein. No inappropriate snacking. Activity: Yes Liquids: Yes and limited myself to 2 beers Halfway point July challenge status check: I've kept up with tracking and 3/4/5 Challenge. I'm improving on using my meal planner. I've made 2 new recipes so far.

Good morning!
Baseball team barely lost yesterday. They just couldn't get good pitches across the plate. It was so damned hot!
I let myself get too hungry yesterday and played catch up all day. It was not pretty. I hope to do better today.
We are going walking further up the mountain to get away from the heat. It is supposed to cool off, and rain thank goodness!, later this week. We haven't had any measurable rain this month--maybe one short shower--and everything is crunchy.
I hope you all have a great day!

Greetings!
More wild weather last night although I seemed to have slept through most of it. There were notifications on my devices this morning from the university regarding a tornado warning. This makes 2 nights in a row of crazy weather. There were several branches down in my area yesterday morning and the neighbor behind us lost a tree. Not sure what last night's storm did.
My fitness center didn't have power yesterday from Sunday night's storms so I walked at the arboretum instead.
Yesterday's memorial service was nice although I swear the older priest had marbles in his mouth as it was hard to follow all of his homily. As I was sitting there, I was trying to think the last time that I actually set foot in a church. Certainly hasn't been since the pandemic. I saw several of the residents that I knew from the retirement community as well as one of the women that I had worked closely with during my time there. That was good.
I made good progress yesterday on a volunteer project that involves proof reading data collected about physician assistant programs. Those type of programs are notorious for having wildly different requirements between schools unlike the more homogenous prerequisites for medical and dental programs. The programs I was assigned aren't ones familiar to me so it is interesting to learn more about them.
This morning I'm hiking with a friend at the Palos forest preserves. We plan to do 8 miles.
Have a great day!

Howdy!
I’m seriously frustrated with my department at work. My superstar has a 10-month-old in daycare, so naturally he gets sick a lot and she has to stay home. Technically she can work from home, but it's hard to focus on your job and take care of a sick baby. She’s pregnant again and due in February. I’m totally happy for her and I totally understand having to stay home with the baby, but I need someone to do the damn work. *sigh* There’s another person in my department who seems to be phoning it in. Again, just show up and do the damn work. I’m exhausted and can’t carry the load.
In happier news, we’re supposed to have cooler (93°) weather and rain at the end of the week. Yay!
Have a great day!

Morning.
MG went to KC for labs yesterday. I think he does them there so that he can visit his kid on the way there, get cheap cigarettes, and get Minsky's pizza.
I did nothing yesterday. Deck guy didn't show up. Hopefully he'll be there today.
I ate like crappe last night. I'm blaming date fatigue. It would have been my anniversary. Truth is I just was in a funk all week and now I'm mad at myself that I still let him influence any part of my life. The group of friends are all home now and I'll get myself dusted off and on the right track. I just needed a bit to whine.

Hi, I didn't sleep through last night's crazy storms. Tornado sirens going off, phone blowing up from weather bug alerts, and the stupid Energency Alert System on the tv for too long. It's pretty stupid when you can't watch the actual weather reporting with real info because the EAS is repeating the same canned robot message for 10 minutes. Pfffft. Heading out to survey tree damage around the ponds. Keeping positive thoughts for the remaining little plover family.
Yesterday Tracking: yes GHGs: yes Activity: day of rest Liquids: yes
