I'm so annoyed, something is going on w the WW app. They did an update, and now today it tells me I have a 4-day tracking streak, and it dropped all my meal tracks for this past Sunday. Pfffft. I had been up to 58 days. And the update was stupid, and actually added another ridiculous step to the tracking process.
I also am up .3 this week. I know it's not a lot, and I 've been in quite a few stressful situations over the past week, so I will not beat myself up over it.

Good morning!
I have been up for a while, but just now getting here.
Baseball got rained out yesterday. Hopefully, it won't tonight.
I don't know if it is dry enough to get out on the trail. I may just do some stuff around the house--like laundry and other boring stuff.
I hope you all have a great day!

Cyn, I splurged on an app called "Simple: Weight Loss Coach" ($80 for a full year) in the Apple store by AM APPS LTD. There are lots of things like photo analysis of your plate or a menu rather than written tracking, an AI "coach" named Avo that checks in with you daily and sets goals, a Noom-like "scoring system" for foods you've eaten, plus similar articles about your choices that inform you about things like protein and pesticides on fruits. There are some slight, but easily ignored, quirks like it keeps wanting me to sign up for the program when I've already paid, or it didn't interpret my response to the AI convo quite right. But other things like "add fiber to this meal to reduce the calorie density" are helpful.

PSA - do you have a will?
My dear friend who lost her husband to cancer earlier this month is facing a huge mess now since he has no will, no assets, no life insurance, no pension, but plenty of debts. She can't get the credit union to stop taking money out of the checking account because they won't talk to her since she wasn't on the loan. It is a nightmare. While it appears that in Illinois, the creditors can't go after her if her name wasn't on the debts, they can still call and hassle her. I've recommend that she seek legal counsel to protect herself and get this nightmare to go away. His "estate" does have to go through probate since there was no will.
Thank goodness she owns her house entirely in her name as she had it before they got married (second marriage for both).
DH will get a big hug from me tonight since while he grumbled back in 2015 about updating our wills and powers of attorney, he actually went through the process.

TGIF!!!
Although yesterday actually felt like Friday all day since I knew I was going to be in Wisconsin today. I'm slowly picking away at class prep - first step is to revise the layout of the course as I'm removing one exam and expanding the coverage of some of the most relevant material. I'll be back at it on Monday. Only 2 more days on campus before my big adventure!
I got the cookies baked last night for the memorial service as will drop them off on my way back from Wisconsin.
I'm trying to figure out what gear I need for kayaking and then hiking today. I was too tired last night to pull everything out after I finished cleaning up after baking the cookies.
Weather looks great today and tomorrow! Sunday is a bit iffy with a chance of isolated storms. Fingers crossed my friend and I can fit in one more bike ride together.
Have a great day!

Howdy!
It has been a frustrating few weeks at work. Hopefully that is resolving soon.
I’m ready for the weekend. I have a sourdough class at Escoffier tomorrow. I asked them to do the class, so I pretty much have to go. 😝 It will be fun, though. I haven’t been to the garden in 2 weeks. I’ve been in such a mood about being overworked that it seems like One More Thing I Gotta Do right now. I’ll go have a look at it over the weekend.
Have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies: Not so hot out this am...plus my hair was wet, so I guess that helped me think that.... LOL Lunch out with friends today. Then, I am off to salvation army to find some smaller clothes because I am beginning to look silly. Several months ago (when I planned to move/not move) I got rid of about 4 leaf size bags of clothes that had been too small for years......now I need them...maybe some of them are still there.... Have a wonderful Friday!

Hello, The Prosecco Bitches had a wonderful time last night! I finally got to see the pictures from S's Kenya trip-wowza! It looked like such an amazing time. One of her guides was a birding expert, and when he found out she's a birder he made lots of stops on the daily drives for her-she got some fantastic pix. She also got her wedding dress, which is absolutely stuuning and very ~her~. She'll be a beautiful bride. We killed 2 bottles of bubbly, w some snacks. The new girlie was so good, and got lots of pets and scritches and belly rubs. And a new name! She settled herself very decidedly right between the 2 of us, basking in our adoration like royalty. She will henceforth be known as Queenie. It fits her, and definitely lends itself to the creation of silly cat nicknames a bit more easily than Siena would have. She's feeling better, and her eating is improved, and she's using the big girl litter box! She's also getting a bit more adventurous, and I just had to interrupt writing to coax her out from inside the torn underchair upholstery covering lining thing-not sure what it's called. Hopefully I got all the holes covered up with strips of packing tape, and I also put some strips sticky-side up on the bottom entrance areas to the UnderChair area. I'm praying that all works. Sigh. Cat being cat. 🙂😬🙀

Good morning!
Another fun night of baseball, and another couple the next two nights, then Monday and Tuesday and we are done. I love going, but by this time of the season, it's time to be done.
I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Greetings!
It was gorgeous weather yesterday to be out on the water! I just posted some of my pictures on FB. Such a beautiful lake! The hiking was okay but it was buggy and muggy so I was fine with only doing 3.5 miles.
I got the cookies delivered and was back home by 6:30pm. I had left the house at 6:30am. I will go up to kayak again at Mirror Lake but that won't happen until next year and I will combine it with another adventure to cut down on all the driving.
Today is my backwoods navigation class then the celebration of life event so another long day. Tomorrow is a bike ride. I'll go back to campus on Monday to rest!
Have a great day!

Howdy! I’m soooooo glad the week is over. Bossman and I had a good conversation before people got in the office yesterday. Problems are getting solved and we’re going to make the best of it in the mean time. I’m kind of looking forward to sourdough class today. I’m really looking forward to having bread to bring home. (Oink!) Bossman & wife gave me some okra from their garden, so gumbo and sourdough are on the menu tonight. Cyn, scheduling all my hobbies is crazy! I’m glad you get me. My hand and finger are preventing woodworking right now, so that’s off the table. At home I’m learning to use hand tools, which takes some muscle and hand dexterity. We use power tools in class, so the finger and splint aren’t as annoying. Have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies: Yesterday was $62 at Goodwill with $12 back when I return a couple that were already too big. Yay. Mostly Tshirts for day and a few of them dressy enough for lunch. Only 1 dressy enough for dinner out. I would up wit around 12. I have plenty of shorts, slacks and capris for now. I had looked at Amazon and had 2 picked on sale for $32, so glad I went. Tonight is dinner out then Orlando Philharmonic for a concert. I bought a new silk black shawl ($10 on sale at amazon, but used points for that, a pillow (20ish) and a desk lamp($15)--so I count them all as free. I have a lot of beds, baths and floors for today as a friend is spending the night so she doesn't have to drive so far at night and very late.

Good morning, Of course I sing to my kittehs! Queenie just turned 4 on July 5th. Yesterday was Sweetie's birthday, it was nice having a snugglie cat by my side😻. She's feeling a bit better every day from her URI, and her nose isn't as clogged so she's going around sniff sniff sniffing everywhere, it's all brand new. We had some playtime this morning, for the first time. I'm going to have to get one of those extension top-shelf grabber things, as I can't get down on my knees to fish things out from under furniture. They're still painful from the bicycle crash incident.
I had a stress emotional eating situation yesterday, I'm pretty pissed at myself about it. I tracked some of it. I know my ass will track it for me as well. Got my liquids in. Obvs, GHGs were not fulfilled. Will need to double up on activity days this weekend to keep my 3/4/5 streak. I intended to walk home from returning some things yesterday, but it was just way too hot for me.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Happy Saturday! It's going to be a hard reentry to work in a couple of weeks. I am going to have to get up and get dressed every day! Baseball was disappointing last night. We are officially out of the playoffs, but we have had a decent season. We really don't have a good pitcher and it has really hurt us. Tonight will be crazy at the ballpark--it's bobblehead night. This year it's a bobblehead of the bat dog. www.milb.com/johnson-city/news/johnson-city-doughboys-introduce-rocky-the-bat-dog-for-the-2023-seasonI hope you all have a great day!

Greetings! I really am going to need to go to work tomorrow to rest. Another longish day yesterday between my navigation class, the memorial service and a stop at Trader Joe's. I'm certainly practicing long drives this weekend. Today I'm driving over to Indiana, so I will have racked up 3 states this weekend. The navigation class was excellent. The instructor is originally from Denmark. Older woman and very experienced. I discovered that the compass I bought doesn't allow me to make permanent adjustments for true versus magnetic north. Unfortunately the return window has closed with Amazon since the original class date was cancelled and I had to move to a class 2 weeks later. The compass is fine for this area but for Colorado, I would need to have to make an adjustment every single time I took a bearing. That is NOT happening. So I've ordered yet another compass to take with me to Colorado. During the class I got chatting with another woman who has been downstate to the Shawnee National Forest. She wants to do more hiking but was having trouble finding maps. We exchanged emails and I'll send her a bunch of resources that I found that were less expensive than those she had seen online. I'm guessing she is in her 30s and she wants to do more solo hikes but her husband is nervous about getting lost. I told her to get a Garmin InReach Mini since he can watch her from afar as it sends tracking information every 10 minutes. The class finished up before 1pm so I ate a quick snack in my car and started the long drive out past Rochelle. Stopped at the oasis in DeKalb to change clothes. I got to the service around 2:35pm. There was a good turnout and I helped clean up at the end as they only had the space in the library until 4pm. Then I drove back home stopping at Trader Joe's on my way. There will be one more TJs run this Friday to get a few more perishables for my trip. Up stupid early today as we are starting our ride at 7am. I need to leave the house by 5:15am to make the drive and get everything on my bike. It will be good to see my friend again. We haven't ridden together since May due to all my travels as well as things he had going on. My other big accomplishment yesterday was getting the second parking reservation that we needed! My cousin is really glad that I'm willing to be the chief navigator as she says she spends way too much mental energy worrying about getting lost. As you all know, I love plotting out routes whether on foot or on bike. And I have ALL the gadgets to navigate Have a great day!

Howdy!
The sourdough class was fun, but she (the chef) puts yeast in her sourdough. Harrumph!!! If you are like me and want to learn to do things the most difficult way possible 😝 adding yeast defeats the purpose of learning to use just the sourdough starter. She sent us all home with some of Olivia, her starter that she’s kept alive for 12 years.
For Escoffier classes, we have a student assistant. I’ve had the same one since my first class. Yesterday he brought me a slice of cheesecake he made at home. Isn’t that the sweetest?
My brother said Dad is lingering. He said he knows I’ve “shut Dad out,” 🤬 but it would be good for me to pray and possibly call and tell Dad it’s ok for him to go and blah, blah, blah. Well, Dad is the one who shut me out, and I have nothing to say to him that wouldn’t be rude. Also, my brother is as much a religious zealot as my dad, so eff off.
I’m tired and in a bit of a funk today. I need to go to the garden, then I’m going to putter with a little woodworking project while doing laundry. I’m sort of in the mood to scroll through the internet all day, but that’s not a good idea.
Have a great day!

Morning.
Yesterday was lovely. We went to my niece's graduation/birthday party. She graduated high school in the middle of the pandemic, so there wasn't much interaction. Four years later and we're celebrating her college graduation. It was awesome.
I did actually hit 10# down this week. And I'm over the moon about it. I hadn't been able to break even the 5# mark over the last year or so. I just saw a FB memory from 11 years ago when I was at goal and it really hurt. Why is it that when you're celebrating these little victories, there is always that niggling regret in the back of your mind about it not being enough? Ugh.

Good Morning Ladies: Well, my friend had a sick migraine yesterday and couldn't go.....but didn't let us know until the whole house was sparkling. She kept hoping to get better. so I accomplished a lot. Today is huge laundry day. The musical was interesting and informative. I had a cup of shrimp and corn chowder for dinner and it was a little too spicy, but awesome.

Hi, We had a sleep-out in the living room last night! It went pretty well. She slept with/on me for part of it, or on the back of the couch some. She also did some night time hunting. Both times I woke up for the loo, there was a toy on the floor by my feet. When I woke up in the morning, all 4 little toys were there. So sweet! She was very quiet, no big zoomies. You can't pick your family, but you can sure pick yourself in terms of doing what's best for you pepper❤️. I'm sorry your brother is being a wanker. Neither of them deserve space in your head. I always loved making little charts of various museum, ruins, and cathedral hours and closed days when I travelled in Italy. The more info I had, the more flexible at short notice I could be around weather, or train strikes, or my own whimsy.

Happy Sunday!
No baseball tonight, thank goodness. Last night really sucked all around. We ended up having two guys sit with us and they sucked the life out of the table. I was so over them I could have left as soon as they sat down. I went and sat with another person and she is another one that will not stop talking--I mean she barely takes time to breathe. Oof!
DH is off giving a golf lesson right now. I wish he could find a place to do this more often. He loves teaching golf.
We will go do something with the dogs when he gets home. We talked about several options yesterday, but didn't make a firm plan.
I hope you all have a great day!

Howdy!
(((((You ladies)))) Thanks for the loves in yesterday’s comments. My brother has totally rewritten history when it comes to Dad and Dad’s family. I try not to be rude about it — how he wants to remember them doesn’t affect me. Except when he expects me to go along with the rewritten bullshit. It’s so weird how people do that. I could understand saying, “He was a crappy father but I forgive him,” but saying, “He was a good father and he’s leaving some big shoes to fill”? How does that kind of thinking even happen? It’s so weird.
Oh well. There’s nothing for me to do about it.
I puttered around with wood projects yesterday, so that was nice. I went to my somewhat barren garden. Most plants in lots of people’s plots have been pulled up and we’re just waiting for September to start the fall crops. I need to figure out what I need to start from seeds and get on that.
Have a great day!

Greetings! I absolutely need to go to work to rest today! My friend and I had a nice bike ride if you omit all the light rain for the first 40 miles! We've ridden in far worse conditions so it really was fine. Temps were in the 60s and the winds were favorable. My friend forgot to bring a jacket thinking that Sunday's weather was going to be hot and sunny like Saturday's. Um, no. We got rained on just driving to the ride start. He got lucky as I happened to have another rain jacket in my car so I loaned that to him. We rode 68 miles and now both have bikes that are filthy and need to be cleaned. That is now one of my projects for tomorrow along with taking my rain gear to the laundromat to wash it since it picked up all sorts of road grime. I also will retreat it so it stays water repellent. I needed more things to get done in these last 5 days I woke up this morning and decided to see if I could switch hotels in the Boulder area to be closer to my ride start next Tuesday. I found a better property for a much lower price that is just 3.5 miles from where I can pick up the route. Glad I decided to check! My piles of stuff to take are growing. Have a great day!

Morning.
We got out for yoga last night. I needed that. Last week's yoga left me wondering what happened when my shoulders hurt the next day.
I walked into a shitshow from the new girl again this morning. So an hour and a half later it might be cleaned up. She frustrates me to no end.
Deck guy came over yesterday and got the stringers cut for the stairs. He says he has about 6 hours of work left on the deck itself, then we can talk about the other projects I have in mind. The deck is looking awesome and I'm really happy with his work.

Hi, The paperwork has been signed, and my couch is now Queenie's forever throne! We will have to navigate through her use of my personal end vs hers. LOL. I have to take her back to the shelter for her second distemper shot on Tuesday morning and maybe a nail clip, hopefully that will go smoothly. It looks to be quite hot, but at least dry. Not a nice week ahead, weather-wise. There's some big rain coming in the radar today, perfect Longevity Salad-making weather. Asparagus prices are starting to creep up. I'm going to investigate frozen posdibilities, or I may look into subbing another veg, or it might be just fine without asparagus since I've already added the cukes and yellow peppers. This week I'm trying it with quinoa (pronounced keen-wah.) (That will never not make me giggle a little.) gadgetgirlil Well done for finding a closer/cheaper place to stay. I'm getting excited for your trip along with you! V , I envy you your friends group workouts, and your group get-togethers, too. I have really been missing RosesWalks whilst she has been over in Ireland. ((( pepper ))) newmoose I hope you and DH were able to have a great outing with the dogs yesterday. I'm sorry there were annoyances at your game the other day. sherrydorlando2 , dahling, what lovely things do you have going this week?

Good Morning Ladies: Up at 5damn30 this am....probably because I had a long nap yesterday. Felt so good! Got the laundry done and little things. My Ewok guest left last night. Babies are still looking this am. Need a trip to Goodwill...couple of the things are too big, so will swap them....not wasting money. Has anyone tried the frozen croissants at Trader Joe's. I had one for breakfast and they are really good. Got almond and chocolate. Best I've had except France. Taking them to bookclub Wed night with 2/3 kinds of spreads.
