Good Morning Ladies: And Happy Saturday. Today I am off to a new tea group...they have a tea each month for a different charity. We take the food and give the charity $25--which makes it one of the most reasonable teas around nowadays. We will see....the pics seem a little too swanky for me.

Howdy!
I slept for 11 hours straight last night. I had planned to do a couple of chores this morning before the horse show but I need to finish my coffee and hit the road so I don’t miss the opening ceremonies. Watching someone gallop around an arena with the American flag blowing in the breeze while the Star Spangled Banner plays always makes me happy.
The GardenWitch still hasn’t answered my question about what the urgent work is at the garden. I looked her up online and found that she works in public relations. She’s not very good at it. 😝
I’m on a few waiting lists for weekend violin lessons. I really want in-person lessons because I’m sick to death of staring at a screen by the end of the work day. Maybe this afternoon I’ll tune up and play. I haven’t touched it in a year or so.
Have a great day!

Greetings!
Windy, but otherwise nice weather yesterday for the hiking event. There didn't seem to be as many people at the state park as there were last year. Still were plenty of people that I helped get pointed in the right direction but I also had some spans of time where I didn't see anyone. It was a long day and finally got back to my car around 5:30pm. I had hoped to fit in some Ice Age Trail miles but didn't put my headlamp in my backpack so would have run out of daylight since the sun sets around 6:30pm. Oh well, I went back to my motel and showered and then was in bed early. Got another good night of sleep.
Today I hope to fit in about 15 miles of hiking on my way back home. I need 44 miles for this year's challenge. I will be back up in Wisconsin next weekend as I'm doing a Leaf Stomp event in North Kettle Moraine. You get shuttled to the starting point. That will give me 15 miles. I'll stay the night and hike someone else on Sunday to get the rest of the miles I need.
Have a great day!

Morning.
I am still employed.
So it was a full weekend in Mayberry. Thursday I got a text from the masseuse that she was in the throes of morning sickness and would not be able to see me. I nearly cried. Fortunately, I was able to find someone at another spa that had a short opening. YF heard of my troubles and made us a pedi appointment before my massage. But then realized that she had booked our pedis over her hair appointment and had to leave me on my own. MG had driven me down to Manhattan to meet YF who had been there all morning while I struggled at work. He left me off with YF and ran some errands for himself before heading back to Mayberry. Seamus (pronounced Shay-mus not Keen wah) only had a partial hour available. I did not tell him that I am a wimp when it comes to pain as I hoped that he would just dig in and get some spots that had been brewing for the last two months. OMIGAWD he did. I was dancing on a live wire for a significant portion of the massage. I had never had anyone successfully get into my hip without me threatening bodily harm on them. I may have threatened him, now that I think about it. I cannot help but wonder if there are not some bruises or bruises yet to come. BUT YF, G, &I went out the next morning for a run. I was unable to find my knees, so I only wore my calf sleeves. YF & G went farther than I had expected. They always leave me in the dust and turn around eventually for the last part of the cool down. It works for us. They chat and I move in my own peace and quiet. My knees were PERFECTLY FINE. About the time we were nearly at the coffeeshop, I was amazed that my legs hips and knees were tired, but not sore. And they weren't sore yesterday either.
Saturday I co-hosted a group of Kamala supporters at the coffeeshop. The other woman, the wife of the county Dem committee pres, had dropped off blank postcards and all the accoutrements so that we could be productive that morning. We got 100 postcards written, addressed, and stamped. Then we sat and chatted a bit longer about all sorts of things. It was a productive and engaging morning. But exhausting. I didn't do anything after that despite having a list of things that I could have accomplished.
This morning I'm already in vacation mode. I leave Wednesday for CA. I have not yet thought about packing. One more thing to add to my list.

Howdy!
The horse show was fun yesterday. Forth-something of them got adopted, so that’s great news.
I have to get my bow (for the violin) re-haired. There’s a mite that lives on bow hair that becomes active in the dark, like if it is left in a violin case for weeks. My bow normally hangs on a hook on the wall with my violin. Yesterday I discovered that it had fallen off the hook behind a big cabinet, and the mites had eaten through much of the hair. I was due for a re-hairing anyway, so I’ll drop it off this week. It was a bummer of a discovery yesterday afternoon because I was looking forward to playing a little. It’s too hot here, still, to do much of anything else.
Have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies: Today is a play with the ladies. It is The Odd Couple--played by women. Should be a hoot. Been raining all morning here. I hope it stops before I have to leave.

Howdy!
The radishes I planted last month at the community garden are doing surprisingly well. It’s been 30-something days since we’ve had any measurable rain, and there’s none on the horizon. With temps still in the upper 90s, I’m shocked that anything in the ground is still living. Usually October is one of our wettest months.
Nothing much going on here this week.
Have a great day!

Monday?
Ugh. I'm tired. I still need to make copies for class. But I don't regret for a moment being disconnected and outdoors for the weekend instead of stuck at my computer. I'm going to go back up on Friday again since I need 25.2 miles to wrap up the challenge. I will get 15 on Saturday but don't want to have to do the remaining 10.2 on Sunday so will get in some miles on Friday afternoon.
It will be yet another busy week. It is now week 7. 7 weeks until Thanksgiving break.
Have a great day!

Morning.
I woke up refreshed this morning. That lasted an hour. New Girl was so rattled this morning I had to push her out the door.
Yesterday was mellow. Today needs to get mellow.

Good morning!
I am home alone with my pups. I will be leaving for work after I post. We are on the two-hour delay schedule again. They are going to try bus routes for students stranded up in the mountains.
DH is gone until tomorrow night for a golf tournament. He is really enjoying this coaching job.
DS2 is coming home on Wednesday! It will be great to see him.
I hope you all have a great day!

Greetings!
Fairly productive day yesterday. Cold in my building, especially the basement where I teach one of my classes. The other building that I teach in was warm. This is why I dress in layers.
Today is setup for lab plus trying to get set for Friday/Monday since I will be out of town hiking again.
Have a great day!

Morning.
It's vacation Friday for me. I have cleaned up my car a bit and will do more to it after work. I need to get packed. I've got the Southwest app downloaded and at the ready.
Now if I can just survive the workday!
Stay safe, East Coast Peeps! I hope it doesn't make things more of a mess than they already are.

Morning Ladies: Yesterday turned into a shit show. I got a call from the school. They couldn't reach Charlotte. Zack has been having a bad time and I have shared parts here. Yesterday he tried to jump off of the 3rd floor room of the school to kill himself. They got him and he s ok. Trama people arrived. She didn't want hm Baker Acted (taken off in police car). They drove him to a hospital. Dr was supposed to have called her late last night with a plan and duration. Haven't heard a word from anyone (tho yesterday they wouldn't allow her to have her phone back there--or Zack--took shoelaces--the whole works. It is so scary. He has just given up and says it is hopeless. Hopefully he will be in long term counseling. I am thinking he needs to be here for stability when he gets out because they can't live if she doesn't work. Maybe I need therapy too. You know the phrase tomorrow is going to be brighter...well tomorrow night we will be hit with hurricane.

Howdy! One of the teachers at the furniture school told me about the store where the furniture makers buy their wood — really nice stuff, a variety of species, you can pick through it to see the grain, and they’ll cut it for you if you don’t want a 15 ft (or however long) board. Turns out it is only 1.1 miles from my office! Bossman’s wife and I ran over there yesterday and I came home with 5 pieces of beautiful mahogany that had been cut off longer boards and left behind. They’re all between 23 and 34 inches long. I’ve been thinking of making a little stool, so this might turn into that. I dropped my violin and bow at the shop yesterday after work. As long as they’re keeping the bow for a couple of weeks for rehairing, they might as well keep the violin and check that all the little parts are in good working order and change the strings. If you had to picture an old, family owned violin repair shop, this would be it. All kinds of doo-dads and drawers full of whatnots and everything piled high in an organized way. I’m glad they were able to stay open through covid. The person who rebuilt my bow works there. She found the bow in Germany, and guesses that it is over 100 years old. All my teachers have loved my bow. My playing? Not so much. 😝 sherrydorlando2 , sending good thoughts to you. Have a good day!

Happy Humpday! Another long day getting my lab ready for today. Both my afternoon appointments were no shows so that did give me a little more class prep time. sherrydorlando2 - I hope you stay safe and that your house doesn't sustain any damage. I see that Disney is shutting down today. ION one of my colleagues just doesn't understand that I do NOT stay up late, especially during the week. Keeps inviting me to her celebrations at her house for an Indian (SE Asian) event that is going on now. 6pm-9pm on a Monday night? Hard no. 6:30pm-? on a Wednesday night? Hard no. I have gone in previous years when it was on a weekend during the afternoon. Have a great day!

Good morning! I am so ready to see DS2, but the house is not ready for him. I didn't get a chance to finish up yesterday, so I am going to sneak out of work a bit early to finish up a couple of things. DH came home earlier than I thought and had some errands to run, so the dogs and I went with him. It cut into my housekeeping time. sherrydorlando2, keep in touch as you can. I will be thinking of you all. I hope you all have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies: Checking in while I can. It is dark, windy and rainy. We are expected to be hit in about 12-15 hours. 2-14 inches of rain and approx 90 MPH. I am so glad I had those touching branches removed last week. Everything is working. tubs full. Big pot of chili made yesterday and plenty of stuff here. I already ate the hurricane treats I bought (SF fudgesicles). We have never had any sort of flooding here, so fingers crossed.

Happy Friday Eve! Off to Wisconsin again tomorrow after class. Still need to finish up the slides and worksheets for tomorrow and Monday but that is doable today. Had a productive day yesterday. sherrydorlando2 - I hope you are safe. Crazy with all that rain and those tornados not to mention the storm surge for those directly on the gulf. Speaking of the gulf, a dear friend has a place on Siesta Key. They got 30 inches of water on their first floor from Helene's storm surge and had just finished the bulk of the cleanup (but not repairs) when Milton popped up. They moved as much stuff as they could to their second floor and are hoping that the storm surge didn't obliterate that too. They had just gotten a new fridge, washer/dryer, hot water heater, etc. I see that Milton pretty much made a direct hit on Siesta Key. Her and her husband are safely inland with friends but I just feel so bad for her and the 1000's of others in the same predicament. What a mess. I'll take massive snow storms any day.

Howdy!
We’re expecting a cool front next week! Y’all will laugh, but the highs are going to be in the 80s and I guarantee you we’ll all be pulling out our boots and sweaters! Brrrrr! 😝
Our new HR manager saw our new office for the first time yesterday. She said it’s so nice that she’ll need all new outfits. She cracks me up. She loves clothes and shopping now because she’s lost over 200 lbs over the last couple of years. She said for so long clothes shopping was a horrible experience, so now she loves it. You go, girl!
I’m glad tomorrow is Friday.
Have a great day!

Good Morning! Had a hard time getting my computer on, but that is about it. The whole earth seems covered about 1 ft deep in oak limbs/branches/twigs. Nothing else wrong that I know of. Rain for next two days. DD has a fence down and a roof leaking. Whole fam is safe and sound./..no power for most and coffee complaints a plenty.

Hello!
What a crazy day and a half!
DS1 called yesterday as I was driving home. I know he is sad to not be here with his brother. He is also very upset about not passing the bar and having no job. While we were talking, I got the bedroom ready for DS2 and got the dogs in our big car. I had DS1 on speaker phone and the car stopped running! I got pulled into a gas station (thank goodness I had not gotten on the interstate yet!) and turned the car off. When I turned it on, it ran just fine, for a bit. Same thing happened as I was taking the car back home, so I pulled over. I sat a bit longer this time, and made it home. (We only live 1/2 mile from the interstate.) Next, I got the dogs and I into my little car and headed down the road. I was nearing empty, but made it to the airport just as DS2 was coming out of the door!
We went to eat at a local place that is Asian fusion. It was good. They specialize in cocktails, and I had a Japanese Old Fashioned.
Today, I have been shoveling out the mountain of paperwork that I have finally gotten signatures on. That hurricane put me way behind again! I will have everything turned in and sent to the school board before I leave today.
Tonight, we will go watch football wherever DS2 wants to go...if DH doesn't veto it.
Tomorrow, we head to Cave Fest! I am so excited to go see music again! It's been three whole weeks since our last festival! Haha!
I hope you all have had a great day!
