TGIF!
I'm ready for today's class but not for Monday's so I likely will stop by campus on my way back from Wisconsin on Sunday to get ready.
The northern lights were 1 day too early. I will be up in Wisconsin tonight where I would have had a chance to see them without light pollution. I also was way too tired yesterday (or any weeknight) to try to stay up and find a place to see them. Some of my local friends have posted pictures. One of these days I will see them, I hope.
The motel I was supposed to stay at cancelled my pre-paid reservation due to a problem with the room. Ugh. I've booked at another place but it is more expensive, of course. Not sure how long it will take to get my refund on the original reservation.
Have a great day!

Howdy!
I got soooo much done this week — taxes (corporate taxes are due Tuesday), month end close, a couple of other things. Lots of people are out of the office today, so I hope to get caught up on little jobs I’ve been ignoring because of big deadlines. Like, maybe, reading my email.
I plan to do some woodworking this weekend. I’m skipping our Urgent Garden Workday (insert eye roll) because I am peopled out. I might regret that on Sunday when I’m ready to people again, but right now I need some quiet puttering. I might take a yoga class.
Have a great day!

Good morning!
I am all packed and ready to go. DH and I have taken the Ford to the shop and picked up the rental car. Now we need for DS2 to wake up and get ready. We will stop for lunch along the way, check in at our motel, and then head to The Caverns. I am looking forward to enjoying this festival with DS2.
I hope you all have a great day!

Greetings from West Bend, Wisconsin!
Beautiful weather yesterday even though it got into the low 80's. Today will be cooler with highs in the low 60's. The leaves are starting to turn up here which is delightful to see! Hiked a little over 6 miles. Today is the 15 mile Leaf Stomp hike. It will be on the trails in North Kettle Moraine, one of my most favorite parts of the trail. I've hiked it numerous times over the years. This is where my dad used to lead the really long ~25 mile hike every year for his hiking group after he retired 🥰
Have a great day!

Howdy!
We may hit 100° here tomorrow. Yay?
I’ve got a work project that I’m mad at myself for putting off because I’m not quite sure how to approach it. I told myself I would do it yesterday, but did I? Nope. And have I figured out how to approach it? Also nope. It’s got to be done and will probably only take a couple of hours once I figure it out. I *WILL* do it this afternoon. It’s taking up too much space in my brain and it’s too hot to do anything else.
Have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies: And Happy Saturday. Yesterday wasn't as easy to get out as we thought. The cute little town had about half of it's power and about half was closed. Tons of people glad to be "OUT" and lots of strolling folk. We found a place and had a good time. I stopped for gas.....there was none at 2 places, so I gave up. I did buy couple colorful plants for the kitchen window and then replanted a few things. Neighbor came over and we went and got subs (1/2) and watched a pretty good movie. Today my back is killing me and I'm on a heating pad til time to go to lunch and the play. No idea what set it off. One of DD's friends mom (in the panhandle of Fl) talked her into going up there for safety from Milton. She has been missing 2 days and police found her a jeep had been in a fiery crash and waiting on DNA to be sure. I will say I don't know how DD holds up under all of it.

Greetings!
Yesterday was the longest 15 mile hike I ever did because it was actually 16.3 miles in length, plus another 0.4 back to where my car was parked. The 22 mile hikers also had a longer than expected hike. Someone in the organization that put this on didn't study the map carefully. But it really was a well-run event with great support. I absolutely would do it again. I'm probably going to join the organization, Friends of the Kettle Moraine, and volunteer with them. This part of the Ice Age Trail holds a special place in my heart since it was where my dad led his group's longest hike every year. The weather was good until the last 1.5 miles when it started to rain. We could hear thunder and saw some lightening towards the south. I had my rain jacket so it wasn't any big deal for me.
With yesterday's bonus miles, I need less than 4 miles to make the 44 miles for the challenge! I will knock those out this morning before I drive back home and head to campus.
Have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies: Lunch was great yesterday. had a cup of shrimp/corn chowder; play was very cute with awesome songs. Zack is staying with his dad Sun, Mon and Tues. I still don't trust the dad at all. Hope it works out. The other grandma is there---but she's old (LOL).

Howdy!
I’m glad I skipped yesterday’s Urgent Garden Workday because it turned out to be a mostly pleasant day. My work project took 2 1/2 hours, and I figured out a way to make it less daunting and possible for someone who isn’t me to do. SCORE! I also got the grocery shopping done and played with a new little saw.
The only thing bad about the day was that I took a different antihistamine than the one I usually take and I was a jittery, hands-shaking, grumpybear all day. I’ve taken a daily Claretin since it was a prescription drug. I switched to Flonase last year because the doc said it might help my ear issue (it does). I ran out so yesterday I took a Claretin. It was odd that I never had any side effects from it before except for fatigue now and then. I would stop taking it for about a week, then start back with no issues. Go figure.
Today I need to go switch my garden to a different plot. I had a 4 x 12, and the Board lady asked me if I’d like one of the former garden manager’s 4 x 20 plots (he had 4). I’m going to try transplanting my asparagus. Fingers crossed. It’s been so stinking hot and dry that nothing else is doing well, so it’s a good time to move to a different plot. Plus I chose the plot next to the pollinator plot, so SCORE!
The big Austin City Limits music festival wraps up today. They estimate that 450,000 attend over the 2 weekends of the festival. I’ll bet they’ll be dropping like flies in today’s 100° heat.
Have a great day!

Greetings!
This week is the hump of the semester because it is week 8 and we have 15 instructional weeks plus 1 week of finals. Mid term grades are due at the end of this week, something we have never done before. It will be a very busy week as I also have to get my car in for service, the fire system has it's annual testing at the rental property and I have a Zoom meeting for the hiking group that I volunteer with. Ooof.
I was back to campus before 2pm yesterday. I hiked 4.2 miles which put me at 45 miles so I've finished the hiking challenge as I only needed 44 miles this year. It was a lovely hike on the trail north of West Bend. The trees are starting to turn in places and it was sunny when I started. Rain moved in later after I was done and on my way back to Illinois.
I still need to finish up the worksheets for the students this morning, probably another hour or so of work plus making copies. I will be so glad when I don't have these early morning scrambles.
Have a great day!

Howdy!
Our official high temp yesterday was 101°, which is the record for the latest-in-the-year high temperature.
I’m hoping for a normalish week. I have a 2 day wood working class on the weekend so I may take Monday off to do weekend chores.
Have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies: No gas available around me yesterday, so didn't do any of the things had planned. Today I'm looking online as I want to go to a bingo party in my old town at the Garden Club (for charity). Nothing urgent but the gas....

Good morning!
We had a great time at Cavefest with DS2. Yesterday we drove to Nashville to meet DS3, his wife, and bonus daughter, and go to the Titans' game. It was a great day, even though the Titans lost. They really need a quarterback, otherwise they have a decent team. We ate lunch with them, and their boys. We finally got home around midnight.
We are on Fall Break until Wednesday. We have today and most of tomorrow with DS2. He wants to cook dinner for us, so that will happen tonight. We are going to do everything he wants until he has to leave tomorrow afternoon.
I hope you have a great day!

Howdy!
Yesterday was crazy busy and long, but good overall.
Last night I mentioned to Mom that I would like to make a pie. To me that means pie crust and fruit and baking. Mom immediately said she’s seen several recipes for lemon icebox pie that she’s been craving. That’s not what I meant by wanting to make a pie, but ok. I really don’t like lemon icebox pie, and making it isn’t fun.
Have a great day!

I was so tired all day long and went to bed at 6:30pm. It was a productive day in spite of my fatigue.
Today starts with a trip to the dealership for the GadgetMobile and ends with setting up my lab for tomorrow's class. So another long day ahead.
Have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies: I finally got gas yesterday, so went for mani/pedi and got a few groceries (almost all of it was for the babies. I cancelled the bingo for today. Seem to have a summer cold and no need to spread it around. I have a few things to do here if I stay awake long enough....

My boring weather moment for the day is exciting: We’re supposed to have a 30° temperature drop today! Wooohoooo! Yesterday’s high was 99. Today’s high will be around 70. Yay!
The violin doctor called yesterday and said a little part needs to be replaced, and that it should be ready on the weekend. Unfortunately I’m going to be in a woodworking class all day Saturday and Sunday, and the violin shop is closed on Mondays. Oh well. I’ve waited this long, so another few days is fine.
That’s all the excitement in my little world, for which I am thankful.
Have a great day!

Happy Humpday, Hump of the month and Hump of the semester!
I swear if I can make it through this week things will be slightly less exhausting for the remainder of the semester. Fingers crossed.
I was at the dealership for over 4 hours yesterday. They had to charge up my car (EV battery) in order to be able to apply module updates in the hope of getting the check engine light to stop coming on nearly continuously. So far it seems fine but time will tell (Jinxed myself - the light is back on). The EV battery only gets around 11-12 miles now as compared to 18 miles on a charge when I first got it. Replacing the battery would be around $8K. Nope, not going to spend that kind of money on an 11 year old car. I'll drive it until I can't and then go hunting for another used vehicle. I'd like to not have to get another vehicle for another 2-3 years if possible.
Being at the dealership put me way behind on lab prep and getting ready for the freshman advising session today. I did some classwork on my personal laptop but it wasn't as efficient as being in my office on my work laptop.
I'm tired of being tired. I'm tired of the dark mornings.
Hope you all have a better day than I anticipate having!

Morning. I'M BAAACCCCCKKKKK. The vacation away from everything and everyone was so needed. YF's parents are in a tiny home in the eastern mountains of CA. We went up to Santa Cruz to see her nephew before he left for Peru. We visited the Redwoods, the beach, the mountains, and everywhere in between. The objective of the trip was to get them to sign the POA's for finances and healthcare and that was accomplished. Her mom has Parkinson's and is not super stable while her dad is super smart but has ADHD (my diagnosis) and is super scattered. Together they can barely take care of each other but not their home or dog and cat. The house was in an awful state of disrepair being dirty, yes, but also things like lightbulbs burnt out and boxes all over from the several times her mom had tried to pack up to move. Each time her dad was just stubborn enough about it that they never left the house. Now they really have no choice as someone will surely eventually call Adult Protective Services and force the issue. Sad, but something will have to be done for them since they are not able to do it for themselves. After the initial shock of the state of the house wore off, we had a pleasant time with them. On the way home, YF & I went a little out of the way so that I could meet up with a FB friend. She said she had some monstera cuttings that were free to a good home. She delivered! I must have 10 nodes with 2' leaf stalks on them. Now to get them rooted and planted. The cat is particularly interested in the new jungle I have procured for her. MG & YMV were bach-ing it all week. YMV got started on hauling the bricks from the back yard, but there is some question of where things will go now that they are dislodged. I have some plans for them, but MG didn't seem too excited when I told him that... The next projects are finishing moving bricks, move the roses, get dirt ordered and delivered to regrade the back yard, spread and plant the back yard dirt, and make more plans for the next projects. At least with the time off last week, I'm a little more perky and able to focus. For now.

Happy Wednesday!
DS2 is back in Portland after our good visit with him. As always, it was too short.
Today is the last day of fall break. I am spending it doing laundry a some housework. Tonight we will go back to trivia.
I was going over my calendar the other day and realized that the last time I worked an entire week of all day school was the last week of August. Since then we have had Labor Day, early dismissals, hurricane days, two-hour delays, taking days for fun, and Fall Break. Starting next Monday, I will have two full weeks before getting election day. Then two weeks until Thanksgiving Break, and three weeks until Christmas. I kind of like that schedule.
DS2 and I went to vote yesterday. It was the last time we will vote in the same place, since he will finally change his address to where he is actually living. It is a tradition that makes me sad to lose.
I hope you all have a great day!

Greetings! Another busy day today since it starts with the fire system annual inspection at 7am. Need to get my class prep done for tomorrow in between a college-wide meeting and 2 advising appointments. I will be so glad when this week is over. It has been way too busy. Nothing on my calendar for the weekend other than class prep, calculating mid-term grades, and preparing an exam for the medical terminology class plus trying to catch up on a lot of personal financial stuff that has been put on the back burner. I was scheduled to go bike riding with a friend on Sunday but his adult child has been having issues and is throwing his schedule into chaos. My friend said that at age 60, he never thought he would be dealing with issues with his son I likely will get out on my bike on Sunday just to ride around suburbia for a couple of hours in the morning. Weather is looking good. I also need to download and print our local ballot so I can figure out who to vote for in the local elections. I certainly will be doing early voting since I can do it at the fitness center this year! Have a great day!

Howdy!
My woodworking class this weekend got cancelled because not enough people signed up for it. That’s a bummer. The weather is supposed to be nice, so I might join a Saturday morning hike with a group about half an hour away. If I feel all peopled out, I’ll go to a yoga class instead. I wish people would organize things on Sundays instead or always on Saturday. I’m rarely ready to people at 7 a.m. Saturday morning.
The violin doctor called again yesterday to say she found a crack that needs to be repaired. 😢 I’ve not been crazy about the sound of it for a while and thought about getting a new one. I need to figure out if I want to get a new one or keep the old one. I can trade in the old one and get a discount on a new one. She says she has a couple of vintage ones that sound good. My bow is over a hundred years old, so it would be cool to also have a violin that’s older than I am. If the price is right I might go for it. I’m still trying to talk myself into spending the money. (I’m cheap.)
It’s nice and cool here this morning. Yay!
Have a great day!

Good morning!
Back at work for two days and then a fun weekend! We have music both Friday night and Saturday. DH leaves again Sunday for a golf tournament, so it will be me and the beasts on Sunday afternoon.
GN will be in WF's town. We are trying to go and support the town, since they rely very heavily on tourism dollars. I am looking forward to spending time with WF. We really haven't gotten to see each other since before Helene.
I hope you all have a great day!
