Morningish: My stoopid cold is way worse. It was 53 here this am so, me and the babies just snuggled under the covers until 10 am.

Morning.
Yesterday was a quiet day back in the grind. Today is a little more jumping.
I got my nails done last night since I was gone for my normal appointment time. She did an amazing job with the foil and made a sunflower on the accent nail.
My trip added 5# back. Le sigh.

TGIF!
This has been an exhausting week. One more day to plod through. So glad that I don't have any time sensitive plans for the weekend. I'm dragging again this morning. The only thing that got my ass out of bed was knowing that I wasn't ready for class this morning.
The fire system testing went fine. The street to access our property is massive construction zone now. Giant pile of gravel in front of the mailbox. Giant pieces of equipment and pipes. They have part of the street dug out as they are replacing storm sewer pipes. It was noisy outside as well as inside yesterday morning. This was the portion of massive project they started at the end of July. They only did a little work back in July and then nothing has been happening until now. They have been working on the streets to the east of us all summer long. I sure hope they get this wrapped up soon. Thank goodness my tenants are being very patient. The one tenant moved in less than 2 weeks before we started to have some restrictions on access to our street from the west, which is the main way visitors find us.
While the testing was going on, I got my client's payroll stuff done for 3rd quarter and dropped it off at the post office on my way to campus. I also got a couple of other minor things taken care of that have been sitting on the back burner.
Weather looks great for the weekend!
Have a great day!

Yesterday I had planned to go check out the violin you people are forcing me to buy 😝, but I wasn’t able to escape the office. I think I’ll go Saturday morning. I love you girls so much.
Hopefully today will be as quiet as possible except for a really crappy personnel issue I have to deal with.
Have a great day!

Good morning!
I love these two day work weeks!
I got my shot in my knee yesterday. The doctor looked at my new x-rays and said that there is very little new damage to my knee. I am happy to hear that. I will continue with the shots for another year or so.
GN was fun. I got to see some of the flood damage in the little town where WF lives. DH and I lived in that same town in 1983-85, so it holds a special place in our hearts. There was such an odd smell in the town from the mud, and, I am sure, mold. Dinner was ok. It's a new restaurant and I am anxious to see what it will be like when it is fully open and ready to roll.
Tonight we are headed to see music. The band that DS1 played with is opening for another friend. It should be a lot of fun.
I hope you all have a great day!

Hello weekend!
What a treat to NOT have to roll out of bed stupid early today! The semester is now 50% done and I'm 25% of the way to retirement. I calculated the midterm grades for the A&P class before I left yesterday and posted them. Also sent out an email to the class letting them know how I calculated their grades. Since about 2/3 of the points are still to be earned, everyone still has the chance to improve their grade and pass the class. I'll recalculate after the next round of exams at the end of the month as that will be right before the last chance to withdraw and take a "W" on their transcript.
After I get some exercise, I will get the exam ready for Monday in the other class and the case study/worksheet ready for the A&P class. My goal is to be done with class prep today so that tomorrow is me time!
Have a great day!

Howdy!
I wish there were a decongestant that works but doesn’t make me high. It’s like there’s a choice: be stuffy or be wired. That was my day yesterday, and apparently my night, too because I didn’t sleep much. Still feeling energetic, oddly. Zoom! Zoom!
Regarding the seemingly constant personnel issues — it probably does seem like an unusual amount of crazy, but it’s really not. HR departments quietly handle a steady stream of issues all the time. Most issues are only known of by a small handful of people because it wouldn’t be appropriate to share with the whole company. Yesterday’s issue was dealt with quietly and staff was told he resigned to accept a different position. He was a newish employee and the job wasn’t what he had hoped for, we said. The staff wasn’t told that he was a lying sack of shit, which only Bossman and I knew about prior to Thursday afternoon when I shared highlights with the HR manager. (The HR manager reports to me, which is why I’m involved. I get to deal with the volatile or especially weird, escalated issues. Whee. 😝)
I picked up a new-to-me violin yesterday for a one week trial. 😁 It’s from Germany, and was made sometime between 1870 and 1900. It’s not shiny and pretty like new violins, but I love that it has been around that long. It reminds me of a little old man wearing nice but old clothes. I wish Mom would hurry and wake up so my decongestant-wired self can get in there and saw away.
Have a great day!

Happy Weekend!!!!
The show last night was fantastic! Both The Boys, and Adam get better and better all the time. I just wish that DS1 could come play some music with them.
Today we are going to go to a tap takeover and watch football. This evening we are going to watch more music, I hope.
I hope you all have a great day!

Greetings!
I am so much more productive when I go in on a weekend and there aren't any distractions! I'm all set for tomorrow morning for the first time in many weeks.
My fitness center's parking lot was jam packed yesterday. Apparently there were activities for kids and then as I was leaving there was a huge line of people for early voting. The rest of the early voting sites in the county open up on Monday. Good to see the high turnout.
If the sun ever comes up, then I will get out for a bike ride this morning. The people advocating for year-round DST do NOT live in northern latitudes. Without the time change, the sun would not come up until 8:15am in December in my part of the country.
Have a great day!

Morning.
I don't know if I will survive the coming 5 day work week. I haven't had a full week of work this month. I still have one more week of vacation to schedule.
We had another meeting at the coffeeshop for Kamala and did some more post cards for western Kansas. I so hope that there is a break in the solid blue turnout there. I got to "meet" some people who were like minded and we had a great time chatting while filling out the postcards. These were women I already have known for years, but didn't know their political affiliation. It was so nice to meet them again in this context and realize that they are not only genuinely nice people, but that we share a common world view.
I intended to get out yesterday and transplant some roses. I napped instead. I'm still recovering a bit from the trip to the left coast I guess. Tonight should be digging and planting the roses and maybe yoga. The vacation week kinda interrupted my newly established planning habit and I need to try getting back to it. It really helped with my motivation and commitment to accomplishing things.

Good morning!
DH and I had a great time yesterday, even though we didn't get to the music. We went to the tap takeover and watched college football. It was a lot of fun.
Today I will go find a place to watch the Packers play and then see my friend play again at our local brewery. It is a beautiful day to be out and about.
I hope you all have a great day!

Howdy!
I never got here yesterday. It was a nice, putter-ey weekend with nothing on the schedule. I did nothing to remember (apparently) all day Saturday. I slept like crap Saturday night, got up at 3:00 a.m., and made a spur of the moment decision to take a Bikram yoga class. I mostly enjoyed the class, but spending 90 minutes in a 105° room requires better nutrition and hydration than I had the couple of days prior. I had to sit out a little of the class, but I’m glad I went. Then I puttered in the garage with my new sharpener thingie. All my tools are sharp now, so next weekend will be full of actually making something.
I messed with the violin a bit. When you haven’t played for a year, you forget where the notes are. Who knew? 😝 (There are no marks on a violin that tell you where to put your fingers to make particular notes. You just have to learn where they are and rely on muscle memory.) I wasn’t as terrible as I expected to be, so there’s that.
Bossman will only be in a couple of days this week, then he and his wife are going on vacation until November. Yay-ish!
Have a great day!

Greetings!
It was so nice to not have any time-sensitive activities this past weekend! I got out and rode 20 miles around suburbia then took care of a bunch of miscellaneous paperwork and emails that had piled up over the past month.
5 more 5 day weeks and then it will be Thanksgiving week when I'm only obligated to work 1-2 days.
I also printed off our ballot and there really wasn't much to decide other than a couple of state-wide advisory referendums. I plan to vote tomorrow as I'm leaving the fitness center since that is an early voting location. I think they open up at 8am.
Have a great day!

Morning. Yesterday I got in touch with the deck guy. He told me a sob story about personal issues that have prevented him from getting back to me. But he also offered some solutions for questions MG had about the projects. All in all, I was ok with his answers and he has until 10/31 before he defaults on the contract. He has already said that the remainder of the contract price will be waived, but if he gets it done in a reasonable timeframe, I'm all for paying him the agreed amount. Alternatively, I might consider paying him half if he exceeds the contract term but completes the job. Does that sound reasonable? The final payment is for his time/work as opposed to materials which were paid for with the first half down payment. I have not and will not mention anything to MG until after the contract period or work is complete. He's frustrated with me already about the time it has taken. I did not get out to dig up roses. And a lovely woman from our Dem group brought me tiger lily bulbs that I can plant while I'm at it. I'm going to call the dirt guys today to see when they could deliver a load. Then I need to talk to Dad about getting his dirt mover over here to finish up the grading project. Someday I will have a nice yard area. YF told me that her parents have tested positive for COVID this week. Her mom was feeling bad on Wednesday and decided to test. She is so frail. I worry about her and the possibility that we might have brought it to them. Not much else is going on.

Good morning! It's going to be a beautiful week and I am stuck inside a school building. I need to get out on my new electric bike one afternoon. I bought a heated mattress pad that is supposed to arrive today. I will put it on the bed as a surprise for DH. Our anniversary is next Saturday, so this is his gift. I'm such a romantic.// I had such a good time at the brewery. The music was not my friend, it was a band from Mexico. So much fun! I have come to the odd realization that I go to bed so much earlier when DH is not home. I think I use the time after he goes to bed to be alone, and that isn't necessary when he isn't there. The dogs seemed less anxious about him being gone last night, too. I finished another chunk of paperwork this morning. Honestly, if I didn't have to do paperwork, I might have wanted to work longer. TPTB keep adding more and more to the IEPs and I am done with that. Luckily, I can sub for the rest of my life and enjoy teaching. I hope you all have a great day!

Greetings!
Exam given and already graded for medical terminology. I doubt the results changed anyone's midterm grade. The student who didn't show up for exam 1 was also a no-show for this exam. Submitted another early warning notice reminding them that without attending the exams, it is impossible to pass the course. I recommended that they drop the course.
Now I need to focus on the other class as their exams are next week. Some of those students really need to study this time around. Some need to actually start showing up for class. There are two that have not been in class nor checked anything on the online course management system since 10/2. Very bizarre!
Today is my long day since I have to setup the lab. After tonight, there will be 5 more late Tuesdays.
Have a great day!

Good morning!
I tried out the new mattress cover last night. It was really warm. I am going to have to figure out my temperature setting for sure. It didn't help that I had just wrestled making the bed and such before getting in it. Also, it wasn't really cold last night. I can see turning it on an hour or so before getting into bed and then turning it off to sleep. I may try that this evening.
I did get to bed early-ish (10:00 or so), but was watching football, so I didn't go to sleep until much later. The dogs were really good again, not so anxious, so we slept well.
DH gets home sometime this evening. I have no idea, so I don't know what to do about dinner. He may have eaten on his way back. I have soup to eat, if he has, so it's all good.
I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Happy Humpday!
Okay, now that I've voted, can all the relentless texts and emails please stop already? Sheesh, it is crazy how many I will get from the same candidate in a 24 hour period.
Lab is all set for today. Next week will be their exams. Hope some of them study more than they did for the first set of exams.
I need to get moving so that I can get the garbage bin out at the rental place. I'm going to have to put it on my neighbor's yard since there is still a massive pile of gravel blocking half the street to access our driveway. The garbage/recycling gets picked up early at the rental place. It is later the day for our house. Just how the routes are laid out.
ETA: Couple of updates. My cousin, the one I went to Colorado with, just got an offer accepted on a house in Tuscon that she saw last week. Closing will be in December. It backs up to the mountains. I hope to go visit next winter 2025-2026! My friend, whose place on Siesta Key got flooded by Helene, has decided that they will buy a new place on the mainland and sell the Siesta Key place when they get the damage repaired. She and her husband were so demoralized when they went back after Milton to see how much work has to be done. Very little of the garbage from Helene has been picked up yet. She says it feels like a monumental task to ever get it fixed up.
Have a great day!

Just routine, normal stuff going on here. Yay! 😁
I’ve got another No Plans weekend coming up. Spending too much time enjoying my own company makes me mopey, so I need to find something to do that will get me out and about.

Morning.
Since getting back, I haven't been planning my next day like I had previously. I need to get back to that. Because I get home and change into work clothes for the things I envision, but then sit down rather than do them. Then it's magically dark and I've done nothing. I am pulling out my iPad after posting this so that I have afternoon plans in writing.
Deck guy is due at the house this morning. He told MG that it would only take about a day and a half to do the work. So it looks like he could still finish the job on time. Once he is done and we've settled up, I will need to go to the bank and arrange the finalization on the loan I took out to do the job. I hope interest rates are still favorable when I reorganize.
YMV will be volunteering at Habitat for Humanity starting tomorrow. Not a paid position, obviously, but it will get him out of the house and "working" on a regular basis. He said that he was going to go vote this week also.
Next Saturday is a massage with the guy that twisted me in a pretzel last time. I hope I feel as good after the coming session as I eventually did last time. The week after that is our half marathon RELAY (no, I haven't lost my mind and signed up for a full half all alone). I will go 3.5 miles and CSO & YF will go 4.5 each. CSO mentioned that she was looking for a medal of some sort, but I don't have the heart to tell her that I will knock them out of the running for that before the starting gun sounds.
