Sep 16: OK day - I did log the food and used the habit tracker but I was out all day and had an ice cream cone, + ate more sugar after dinner. Today is another all day meeting but I've taken fruit and I hope that quells the sugar craving. I took cherry tomatoes yesterday as part of my lunch and I was craving something sweet right after. Starting tomorrow, I'm back to normal - no more all day things day after day and the house is mostly ready for our daily use. Food is stocked up, laundry from the trip is done, etc. lani, what is the other Beck site?

Hi all, I've been MIA but working on things. I am focusing on sitting when eating and looking at food and thinking "Not My Food" or "My Food". It helped this weekend when I was with my 4 sisters. It started with a late (for me) supper Thursday night after CA sisters plane landed. The meet-up place was a bar/pub. I looked at the menu "Not My Food"(NOTHING on the menu that could even be adapted into low salt) so opted to eat a healthy supper before I went. I thought it would be hard to "just sit there" while they all ate in front of me. It wasn't. I did it! That gave me confidence to navigate the weekend.

lani, thanks! I've bookmarked it but it seems very intense with questions, etc. I may start there if I need more support than I need now. Sep 17: Was out all day in a natural dyeing class - I was helping out as well as dyeing so I hauled pots of water, monitored pots, washed them out, etc. Didn't drink enough though I took 3 travel mugs of decaf coffee and tea with me. Eating OK - there were Munchkins and cookies there but I had taken a sandwich and fruit so I consumed the treats sparingly. Dinner was light I am tired today and my left leg is acting up (painful and sore) so I'm not exercising today. But I am back to normal for all other Beck activities.

very intense with questions, Hmmm. I'm not sure what that's about. It is another offshoot from the original WW message boards. I signed up for both boards - GDT and WW - when the old boards went Kaput. I don't remember any difference in the signing up procedure between either board. The WW board skews a little older and doesn't have the privacy factor that most of the GDT does. I post on both daily. Sunday credits: Weighed - up 0.4 lb. lani, the daily threads seem to have some sort of leading question rather than posting about one’s credits the day before, or problems one is facing etc. Maybe I am missing something For example: today’s thread asked “ What are three good things that are going on in your life?”

The Weekly Weigh In thread we post daily weights (if we wish) or just ups and downs, challenges, etc. On Sundays everyone compares their current weight to the past Sunday weight. The last review finished Aug. 13th. The next one will start Nov. 1, I believe. ETA: I just checked the site and under BBR - Welcome to the Group, the schedule is explained.

ermabom, I used to participate in Judy's Maintenance Thread when she ran it on the old Newbies Board-she can be a bit tightly wound sometimes, but is very nice. I think it helps her focus her own thinking to have a daily question like that-it's not necessarily mandatory to chime in with an answer. If you'd prefer to do daily credits for your own focus in that group, I don't think there'd be any pushback. lani, IIRC, you can set up with the same username and password on both boards, right? Credit: I did not buy the 2lb tub of queso blanco dip at Costco yesterday. 🙂

I think I can do my own credits here but I may participate in the review starting Nov 1. lani, since I don't weigh myself, the weight threads aren't useful and I'm just a bit contrary when it comes to gratitude threads. I don't know why but they rub me the wrong way. Good work Cyn, on no tub of queso! you can set up with the same username and password on both boards, right? Right. ermabom, one need not post actual weights. Just ups and downs. No need to weight daily, weekly is fine. Or skip it. For me, posting actual weight, day after day, takes the drama out, and helps me view it as data, lessening the emotional baggage. Also, daily weighing accustoms me to the normal daily fluctuations. Makes it easier to spot an actual trend vs. normal ups and downs. I'll always have positive feelings for Judy, as she got me started with Beck in the first place back on the old boards. lani, I’ve done that. Weighed myself every day for decades. The obsession never faded. I’ve never been happier since I stopped weighing and only get weighed a few times a year at the doctor’s office. I go by how I feel and how my clothes fit and I’ve been slowly losing over the years. Not much. Just a couple of pounds a year but that is better than gaining. Ditto with measuring and weighing food and tracking calories. The less I think about food the less I eat. I am good now with just writing down what i ate and planning for what I’ll eat without measurements or calories. I know portion sizes. i know when i exceed them. I know when i eat stuff i shouldn’t. Also, if I lift weights I lose weight very very slowly. it is not fun to see the same weight every day. I never somehow got over that. I want to lift weights because it is good for my bones and my mobility as I age.

Sept 22-23: I did the dusting - it was physically exhausting because I was climbing up and down my step stool to vacuum and dust things higher than I could reach. Also had to bend down a lot. It took more than 2 hours to do the whole room. I didn't do much the rest of the day and logging food also went by the wayside
Yesterday I helped SO set up beds in my dad's room and my daughter's room - we swapped the beds so my dad got the twin (which he wanted) and the queen went up to my daughter's room. SO had taken them apart and taken the parts to the appropriate rooms but I had to hold the side supports horizontal off the ground so he could screw them into the headboard and the footboard. Of course the last one was easier. Then I helped carry the slats for the queen bed upstairs. We move the mattress upstairs today.
That plus some gardening work to harvest plants took most of the two days and I didn't log food yesterday either.
I didn't eat well either.
Today will be better.

Hi, I weighed myself on Thursday, and put it into the WW app, so I am officially tracking and working to lose weight. It was not as ghastly as I'd feared, but bad enough. I hate the way my clothes mis-fit right now. I won't be daily weighing yet, but did take a peek this morning, and I'm going down. Inspiration to continue. lani, I didn't mean my comment about Judy to sound as negative as it came out, I'm sorry. She and the Newbies Board Maintenance Thread were incredibly welcoming and helpful to me 10 years ago. I am still very friendly w many of the women I "met" in there. I probably should have said that Judy relies a lot on her daily routines and structure for her continued success at her weight management. 🙂 Thinking about that made me realize how much I've gotten really loosey goosey about too many of my helpful habits, which has led me back here to unhappy loss mode. I've put that Beck review on my calendar for Nov 1.

relies a lot on her daily routines and structure for her continued success at her weight management. 🙂 This is me to a T. Probably why Beck worked so well for me. Pre-Beck I already had a lot of routines that are purely health related (GI issues, high cholesterol, bad knees) so incorporating yet more structure for weight mgmt. was not a stretch. Judy relies a lot on her daily routines and structure for her continued success at her weight management. This was me to a T till I went on my trip. I thought I had gotten back into the routine last week but sadly it wasn't so. Yesterday, I helped SO move the queen sized mattress upstairs. It was HARD! Nothing to grip on the short sides (why don't they put handles on all four sides of a mattress). So we tipped it up to be able to use the handles. The result was that its center of gravity went up a lot and it became difficult to control. My arms and thighs were sore from just that work! We slid it to the stairs, had to rest half way up the stairs and then finish the other half. Slid it into the bedroom and so much easier lifting it onto the bed because the handles were well-positioned for that. Got my covid shot yesterday afternoon so today is a washout - both weather-wise (it is still raining after 2 days of rain) and because I'm achey from the shot. No fever though. Once this reaction is over, I need to get back to my routines! I'm also messing with my antihistamines because what I was taking wasn't working. I'm trying to get off the pseudo-ephedrine because one of my docs told me it wasn't good to take it long term. It has meant better sleep although I'm always sleepy now. Sorry for the bloggy post.

Sept 25: I didn't work out yesterday but slept all day. I had had my covid shot on Sunday evening so I was sore and achey and sleepy. The sleepiness was probably from the change in meds also.
Today is going to be a normal day!
