I'll be 60 in November. Working for another 5 years, 4 months, 3 days. Not that I'm counting.

Azure and AZ, I started this group because it seemed at the time like most of the people on the Over 60s board were retired or never worked and had a lot of conversations about knitting, grandchildren, etc. I couldn't relate so I started this one. It has turned into a wonderful thread, most of the women on it have since retired, but are still very active doing other things, including caretaking of spouses or parents. Two of us have gotten our PhDs in our 60s. We've all exchanged emails so if and when the WW forums go down, we can stay in touch.
Please do join us!

Maryenne, thanks for including me even though I was absent from our other group. I am in Boston visiting DD & attending a music workshop this weekend. Did something else happen on the WW site? I haven't logged in for a month! It's been a busy summer already!

Hi Joan! Glad to see you. WW announced today that they are pulling down the boards as of August 1. The moderator has just created a group board here and I've asked her to move this one over there so it doesn't get lost among all the others. Glad you made it here - we've missed you!

I'm still working and plan to for awhile.
Non-humble brag: I got the best job offer of my life on my 60th birthday, about a month ago. I am leaving a job I had for 17 years at a BAC to accept it and I start in 2 weeks. Yeah, part of me is skeered, but part of me wants to fly.

As people find their way here, think about if you want to start a brand new thread each day. I didn't today to give people time to register, look around, etc.

Testing the waters here. I drove to Boston this trip so I could pack my machine do some sewing for DD & I will be doing some of that today. I cut through Canada this time, but the time I could have saved in distance was taken up with waiting in lines to cross the border. It was an hour on each side. I'm still deciding about the trip home. If I stay on the south side of the Great Lakes, I may run into bad traffic in Cleveland.

Good Morning.
I've been mostly a lurker on the WW boards, but I'm a Lifetime Member since 2001. I'm 63 and still working full time...hopefully retirement will happen in the next year or so.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you here.

Hello all. I made my way here. Very disappointed in the decision by WW to do away with the boards. Thank you Maryenne for setting up this thread. It looks like we have new friends, too! Hot humid day here in MA. Finishing up some paperwork before heading back to RI tomorrow.

I am 64 and still working - and BIG NEWS!! Just found out about 2 weeks ago that my job will be ending (as in outsourced) in the next three - four months. After the initial shock, I am thrilled beyond belief!!
I've worked since I was 14, and am completely embracing the idea of my new life!! Happy to see this forum has made it over to this site!

Good morning! Maryenne, thanks for getting us started here. Looks like this is going to work well for our old group AND it has the bonus of meeting some new friends to join with us. For those of you who are knew to this group, my name is Joyce. I am a 67 year old retired community college prof, retired tax preparer, and now a caregiver for both my mom and dad. Happy to meet you all and have this new place to continue our group.

Turning 60 in 4 days (but again, who's counting!") I can't believe that WW is taking away the boards and not replacing them with a suitable alternative. I'm curious to see what it will be like. This is a great alternative, but I feel like WW posters are being scattered all over the web. Bummer I will be working for at least 3 more years. I teach elementary music. And then, I will sub for a few years after I "retire". Gotta pay for my health insurance etc. Dana

Hi Maryenne and all. I turned 60 in June and am retiring on August 4. Worked every single day of my life since high school graduation, went to college at night. I'm burned out and ready for a major life change.
