Morning Gyp & ATF. My oldest niece is in labor. Hoping for baby O’s arrival soon. She can’t have an epidural (she has scoliosis & has rods in her back), so really hope he’s here soon for her sake. My mom said we should be able to see the Northern Lights again in my area this weekend so I’m hoping to be up tonight/tomorrow to catch a glimpse. No northern lights but a pretty start to the day in my hood this morning. And here’s an early morning picture from the day we stopped in Crete!

Good Morning Ladies: And Happy Saturday. Today I am off to a new tea group...they have a tea each month for a different charity. We take the food and give the charity $25--which makes it one of the most reasonable teas around nowadays. We will see....the pics seem a little too swanky for me. Gyps, I always loved fishing...of course I would take along a book too! LOL Squid, have a lot of fun on your trip. You travel so much you should be able to pack in the dark. Ners, that roast sounds wonderful. It is so high nowadays that I don't make it....I need to get one! Prin, hope the baby comes in soon nice and safe!!

I’m currently obsessing over the next hurricane . I'm also watching this one closely. My friend is leaving next weekend for her mom's in Naples. I'm going from the 16th-20th. Since she changed school corporations, we have different breaks, so I'm taking two days off to join her. It's going to be a strange getaway (if it happens). I'll get there late Wednesday night and she's leaving very early Saturday morning since that was the cheapest flight for her (she waited too long to buy her tickets). I'll be spending two full days down there with just her mom. It doesn't bother me, but I would have liked to spend more time with my friend since we don't see each other everyday anymore.

Good WINDY morning hotties!
Last night I woke to the smoker crashing, the grill flipping, the garbage cans getting launched across the yard and my Fall flag being blown off of the house. Hoping the camper stays standing and intact.
Today is suppose to be worse with 70 mph winds and a red flag fire warning due to the extreme low humidity. We were suppose to babysit the Onion for their date night but that has been cancelled. They are warning people to stay off of the road. My house is shaking as I type this. The gusts are strong.

Azflamingo22 Thanks so much all of the camper tips! You mentioned quite a few things I never even thought of, like heavy items on the bottom. I had already considered putting my crockpot in the high cabinet because it would fit in there perfectly. For some reason a beach towel didn't even cross my mind but I need 2 for sure. I like your idea of keeping it stocked and ready to go. That is how we kept the boat. Not packing everything in and out made the boat much more enjoyable for sure. I declined squirrel and mouse damage insurance. Do you think I need it? Also declined roof coverage because it's under warranty for 2 years. I think that might be a good add on but you are forced to keep it for 16 years once you sign up for it. Wait a minute, I actually think the roof on this particular camper is 12 years and is rated for camping in Canada. I need to double check that. I looked at so many I'm getting them mixed up. Ours is officially considered an "all season" camper but the salesman said there isn't a camper on the market that is truly an "all season" camper in ND. Not one can handle multiple straight days of -60 degrees and a blizzard without a skirt and extra water tank heat blankets added underneath. He strongly advised to winterize even if we keep it plugged in with the heat blasting. I'll take his advice since he is a lifelong North Dakotan that has camped in a trailer his entire life. He said when there was an oil boom here there were a lot of angry oil field workers that couldn't keep their trailers from freezing. He did not hold back at all about the freeze risk. I liked that about him.

I'm thinking today is a meal prep kind of day. I'm going to experiment with Emu Lasagna. I haven't made my moms lasagna in a few years because I hate it made with ground turkey.

Today might be a relatively easy day depending on what I do. My one class at the gym was cancelled and I didn't feel like driving out there for one 45 minute class because I have to go back out that way later for DGS's football game. After football, my friend wants to meet up to watch some football and have a couple drinks for my little birthday celebration (we're going out for our steak dinner on Wednesday). Honestly, I could come straight home after football and curl up in bed. I don't think I'm feeling too good. My stomach has been bothering me, and I'm not sure if it's my colitis getting ready to flare up again or not. I guess I'll find out in a few days if that's what it is.
I need to do some grocery shopping, but I might hold off until tomorrow when I'm also planning on doing a Sam's run. Just going to lay around for a while and see if I feel like getting dressed and running to the store.

Tootles, that is super scary. I hope everything is ok. The lasagna should be fine if you can get the emu ground. WE used a lot of ground venison in my days. Can you have that. Great with anything plus sauce--lasagna, meatloaf, spaghetti, chili.. Spiff, I hope you feel better late and skip the flare up. Good luck on your Fl trip not being too windy/rainy.

sherrydorlando2 , the emu I'm using is ground with duck fat. So far it's been a really good substitute for ground beef. I can't have venison. and I miss it!

Morning! Yesterday was $32 for a new living room rug and I’m hoping the dog doesn’t pee on it. I’ve been getting up with her at night making sure she goes outside so that’s been good. I;m tired, though, like I have a newborn only it’s an old dog.

tootles instead of carrying bottled water and creating so much trash, get a Brita Hub. You never know how the water will taste where you stay. Also keep a fully charged brick in case you are without power and need to charge your phones, as well as a rechargable flashlight or spotlight. Also, place a solar light at the top of your steps, right below the door, out of the camper. Keeps the bugs from going in when you go in and out, but helps you see the steps.

tootles, my trip to the San Juan Islands is purely for pleasure. A mouse made a nest in my sister's camper and ate through part of the floor, so it does happen. Don't know if she had the rodent insurance to replace it. The little booger nested in the winter, and she didn't discover it until spring when they took their first trip of the year. Agree with you that turkey just doesn't stand up to spaghetti sauce, and lacks the flavor intensity you need for something like lasagna. prinlea2000, any updates on your niece? Can they give her anything to ease some of the pain? Today I sent my travel agent the final payment for my January Caribbean cruise. I also registered my vehicle with KIA. Jels, no to dog pee on the new rug.

tootles, get moth flakes and sprinkle them under and around the camper to help keep rodents away!

squid - she’s still in labor. Not sure how far along she is but she’s frustrated things aren’t progressing quicker. They gave her some pain meds to take the edge off my SIL said. My brother and I are watching niece’s toddler. She was tolerating me fairly well today. We three went to lunch - she was eating queso with her finger. 😂 After lunch she put herself down for her nap and I’m about to do the same.

Thanks for all of the camper tips. I'm taking notes!
I decided to add the rodent insurance on the camper. It was only $17 for 10k of coverage. It's worth the peace of mind considering I recently had a mouse in my house and a scurry of squirrels decided to call my ground and garage home.

Tootles a friend uses moth balls and puts lavender dryer sheets in the vents when he winterize his camper. He camps year around and this is what his corner does then in spring the moth balls go under the campers. We use moth balls in our boat for winter storage

Here is a pic of my new happy place! I’ve been out here in the camper making lists all day and starting to get ready for our first trip tomorrow. This kitchen had me at hello!
