Hi CJ: More cloudy weather - yesterday was back & forth with drizzle and cold, but today it's beginning to "finally" settle down. We expect no more stormy and windy rain and snow for a while - hopefully Spring will have a chance once again. The daffodils and narcissus and even the primroses are in full bloom - and the clematis, and even the lilacs are beginning to bud out. So, I feel hopeful. Yesterday, we even had a glimmer of sun toward the end of the afternoon. Yesterday was also filled with gathering for Monday pickup - AND - DD came by with an early visit - and yummy bakery treats. She was early enough to have breakfast with her father - and then she did some of her laundry because her dryer is awaiting replacement parts. We had another amicable chat! Then, later, I had a phone consultation with DYS re: the quilt and placement of the center appliquéd lotus block. He agreed that he liked a solid background color, like I had chosen on the sample - but that he hoped it would be a brighter color. I assured him it would as I had simply used any fabric I had on hand that I knew I wouldn't be needing in any quantity. Then, I ordered 2 pairs of scissors on Amazon, that I'll need for cutting out the appliqué pieces - sharp-pointed appliqué scissors. I made oven-fried chicken pieces for dinner and I have more for tonight (an easy meal - Yay). And, today, we're going to watch the Academy-Award nominated film "Oppenheimer." I'm really looking forward to seeing it after having read the whole paperback copy of that biography - maybe 700 or more pages. Note: At 6:30pm after we finished the film - we saw that it had been snowing and the decks and grass were/are all covered with snow. So Spring is still struggling! Glad you're finally getting the rest of your possessions at your old home taken care of. And I sure can understand how happy you will be NOT to have to worry about the constant repairs you'd have if you had stayed on. (On another note, we are getting lots of inquiries these days as to selling our home - with cash offers. It gets pretty annoying no matter what they're offering. We're not ready to move or to SELL.) Stay well - hope your weather stays warmer - and nice to hear about your quilt projects once again.

Hi busybee - I hope your Spring weather starts showing up soon When I was out today I saw several flowering trees around here starting to bloom. I hope those scissors work well for your applique, sounds like the quilt is progressing nicely. I received lots of those calls and mail requests to sell my house. It used to bug me too, so I understand. I haven't done any quilting the last few days since I've been busy with other things. I went up to my house today just to check on it and do a kind of final walk through to get any small things out of there and everything that left where I want it to be. I only have a few more things throw in the trash right before the sale is finalized. I do have some problems with leaky faucets so I've been keeping an eye on those. I'll be glad when that's not my problem anymore. I hope to finish making the rest of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks over the next few days. I already finished about half of them. The new Blockheads pattern comes out tomorrow so I'll have that to work on too. And I ordered a few quilt kits, so I might try to start on one of those. Take care

Hi CJ: It was a little nicer yesterday, with the sun finally making an appearance - so bright inside that I almost needed sunglasses! But then, it went away and it stayed in the lower 40s - and plunged into the lower 30s last night.
Today, we've got a lighter sky with some sunlight trying to burn through - and it's in the lower 40s. We'll continue to have dryer weather, but with colder nights. Our snow pack is still below normal.
I worked on making another sample middle block for the Magic quilt yesterday, testing out my new scissors. They worked very well and I managed to free-hand cut out some silhouette shapes and place them on a brighter background as a "sample." YDS said he liked it. So, that's a "green light." Yay! I also ordered another pair of scissors that are shorter with curved snub-like cutting blades, which should really be quite useful for the finest of inward points. They'll come later this week.
I also spent a lot of time yesterday finding the best background fabric from my stash - and now I've got a mess of fabrics to fold and put away. That's what I'll be doing today.
You're still dividing your time between two dwellings, and that takes a lot of time and energy. I'm surprised that you are able to get any sewing/quilting time squeezed in. Hopefully, the time you spend on quilting projects are more peaceful and calming for you, and that it takes your mind away from the constant worries you have about your old house and its sale.
Take care and take time for yourself too.

Hi busybee - Glad to hear your finally had some sunshine. We had rain yesterday but today is nice and partly sunny with temps in the 60s. I'm glad to hear your YDS liked the sample you showed him and that the scissors are working for you - hope the new scissors do too. I've been busy with other things with the house sale, and just stuff around the place where I'm living. So I haven't gotten back to my quilting yet. I'm hoping I can get the star blocks I have to make done this weekend, and also get the Moda Blockheads block made. It's a pretty easy one this week: modafabrics.com/inspiration-resources/bh5-group-2-block-10-alexia-abeggI'm going to make flying geese units for the star points instead of the half square triangles in the pattern. I'd just as soon do those as flip and stitch instead of all the trimming of the half square triangles. Hope you get some time to work on your quilt today. Take care

Hi CJ: It was nicer yesterday with full-blown sun shining for quite a while in the PM. So, it was nice & warm in the sun and freezing in the shade, still in the mid 40s! But everyone out here really enjoyed seeing that shining orb once again - rather elusive out here this winter for sure. Today, it's back to cloudy skies - but no rain so far! And it's lots warmer - in the mid 50s.
My day yesterday was long and exhausting - first, picking up a large grocery order and putting it away; then, cooking Swiss steak for dinner with lots of prep work with all the aromatics and other veggies - almost like a stew! But DH loved it and ate more than he usually does.
Also, my upper oven broiler unit burned out and DH had ordered a replacement part for installing. But - I told him I needed to cook yesterday and I didn't want him taking over the oven. He said, okay. So, I proceeded with my plans for cooking the Swiss steak in the oven, after browning the meat and assembling all the ingredients in an ovenproof pan on the stove top. Hmmmmm - not quite! DH had left a "hot" wire loose in the upper oven - and when I turned it on, it burst into flame. Duh - well, as soon as I turned the oven off (and did not open the oven door) it died down and went out on its own. But, of course, I gave up on using the oven and cooked my Swiss steak dinner entirely on the stove top.
Today, and before I ever got up, DH fixed the broiler assembly and it's working and all is well.
Also, today we're going to watch another Oscar-nominated film here at home, "Killers of the Flower Moon," which has to do with the Osage Indians in Oklahoma and efforts to take away their oil rights.
That Moda block doesn't look so easy to me. You first have to make those tiny blocks in the middle of the star. That's not exactly "easy" to do and certainly time-consuming. But you're very good at that kind of meticulous work. Glad you're enjoying it.
Next on my agenda will be assembly of the blocks for the Magic quilt. They're all sitting on the DR table, waiting for me.
Oh, and we watched Biden's State of the Union speech last night. He sure was fiery and strong and didn't shy away from controversial topics.
Stay well and hope you're enjoying your new project.

Hi busybee - Hope you are having a nice weekend so far I'm glad you've had some nice weather. It was nice here yesterday and mild, but today is rainy and in the low 50s. Wow, that's a bit scary about the fire in your oven, I'm glad it was put out quickly. I'm glad your DH was able to fix it. I had lots of problems with the oven in my old house, it's been a treat having a newer one in the rental house. For that Moda block, I make a lot of checkerboard blocks with scraps from leftover projects, so I don't mind those. I have the fabrics cut for my block I just need to get it made hopefully today or tomorrow. I hope you can find time to get back to your Magic quilt. Yesterday my cousin and I went to the Amish Market that is about 30 miles from where I used to live (and now it's about 50 miles from where I live now). We used to go every other month or so before covid, but we hadn't been since 2019. It was nice to visit with her and get some treats from the Market. I enjoyed a pretzel wrapped hot dog with cheese and bought a slice of cake. I also bought some maple fudge, which they make and always used to be good, I hope it is this time. And I had to get a whoopie pie Take care

Hi CJ: Well - today is another "mixed bag" type of weather day - Sunny - Cloudy - Drizzly - Windy - and then it begins all over again - with a Rainbow thrown in to the mix - over the lake dividing Seattle from the Eastside (where we live). But it started out warmer today - but now it's back into the high 40s. No hope for much improvement tomorrow either.
Your visit to the Amish Market sure sounds like fun. I would love that - and of course, you'd have to get a Whoopie pie! Glad you got to go on an outing with your cousin.
No work on the quilt even today - as I've been watching the Oscar-nominated films before the Oscars tomorrow. My DD and I always would see the Oscar-nominated films in the movie houses "before" Covid. But now, we watch on the various streaming sites. I finished watching "Killers of the Flower Moon," last night (about the Osage Nation), and I began "Napoleon." So, today, I also have two more to add to my list, "The Holdovers," and "Past Lives."
I've done my exercises and laps and have to cook dinner. Texted quite a while with my DD about the films and she's the one who saw the Rainbow over Lk. Washington - she's lives just half a block away from lakeside in Seattle.
But the blocks on the DR table are waiting for me - I'll do a bit, here & there - before I go back to my film watching later. Good idea to make up those checkerboard blocks as you go along with scraps from other projects. That certainly will make it go much faster for you.
Now, the sun is out again - after the whole litany I spoke of above repeated itself again........just crazy weather out here.
Enjoy your milder weather and take care.

Hi busybee - Hope you are doing well today. I guess the weather you are having is pretty normal for you, but I'm sure you're looking forward to some nice Spring weather It's sunny here today after the rain yesterday, but it's windy and cool. I went up to my house today to check on things and check to make sure most of everything I want is out of there. I just have a broom to take out and a bag of trash now. The settlement should be coming up soon. I hope that you can get back to your quilt again soon. I do a bit of quilting and then stop to do something else and never get back to it. Maybe I can do some later today. I think once things get done with the house then maybe I'll feel more like quilting. I'm sad that I finally have all my fabric stored nicely and I haven't even felt like making anything. Hope you enjoy the Oscars, it's really neat that you see all the nominated movies. Take care

Hi CJ: Another gloomy, rainy day out here - in the 40s. More similar weather through Wednesday - though, it is predicted that we're to have a big change by Thursday - with sunshine and warmer temps - into the 50s and possibly 60s. Well, if that actually happens, we are all more than ready out here for a change - for the better AND warmer.
We enjoyed watching the Oscars yesterday - a long show - 3+ hours. But it was well done and naturally, we enjoyed watching our favorite movies get awards. "Oppenheimer" took most of the awards, for best picture and director, and best leading man and supporting man - as well as some other technical awards. One of our favorites of the nominated films, is "Killers of the Flower Moon," which did not take any awards at all. That was a big disappointment, not only for the first Native American female ever nominated in a leading role, but also for its director Martin Scorsese. Another movie I hadn't seen yet "Poor Things," won quite a few. And "The Holdovers," which I viewed and really liked did have a winner in Da'Vine Joy Randolph for Best Supporting Actress.
I'm tired of watching so many movies - and having to get them finished in time for the awards ceremony. I usually view a movie in sections - an hour here and there. So, I'm more than ready to relax a bit more now that the important films have been taken care of.
I am working on the blocks sitting on the DR table today. And I worked at sizing the center "lotus block," to fit with the other blocks in the center of the quilt. I have lots more work to do. But I finally got back to it, and am more than ready to proceed.
Hope you'll get back into your quilt-making routine as your house selling calms down. I'm sure you're looking forward to having it be finished.
Stay well and I hope that you'll get back to enjoying your quilt projects once again.

Hi busybee - Hope you get that nice weather later this week. It's supposed to be very mild and nice here most of this week. I'm glad you have been able to get back to your quilt, hope you can continue to find time to work on it. I'd really love to get the Moda blockheads block done today, since a new one comes out tomorrow but I have a lot going on this week and I'm not sure I can get back to any quilting, but I'll see. Hopefully after the next few weeks things will calm down for me and I can get back into a schedule with my quilting. Take care

Hi CJ: No rain - a bit warmer, hitting 51 so far - and some sunlight filtering through the overcast. It's an improvement. But, as it starts drying out and the daytime temperatures get warmer, we'll continue to have colder overnights. But - we'll take it.
I continued to work on the design of the Magic quilt blocks yesterday. Will do the same today. The longer I work on it, the more ideas keep popping up in my over-active creative mind! Gotta stop doing that.
Anyway, my DH is tired of his chronic sinus stuffiness - and even took a Covid test today - which was NEG of course. Maybe as the weather gets warmer, he'll start feeling better. I'm hoping the same for me and all my myriad aches and pains.
I'll do more design work on the quilt today. And we'll be de-cluttering for the cleaners tomorrow.
Hope you're getting all your chores done today and maybe even some work on the Moda blockheads project.
Stay well.

Hi busybee - Hope you are doing well. It's been really warm here, today is in the high 70s! I hope you and your DH will feel better once the weather gets warmer. I'm having some major problems with the sale of my house, so I may not post every day, it's kind of draining me. I just knew this sale wouldn't go smoothly I definitely don't feel like doing any quilting right now. I have the pieces for one of my Moda blockheads block laying out on my table and I may even just put it away because it's depressing me to see it when I don't feel like working on it. But maybe my attitude will change. I do hope you can continue to make progress on your quilt. Take care

Hi CJ: It was a much nicer day today - sunshine all day long - but in the lower 50s - so, warm in the sun but chilly in the shade. Not warm enough for us to be outside for any length of time. We'll wait until Saturday for outdoor chores. It's supposed to be in the high 60s then.
I'm so sorry to hear that you're having troubles with the sale of your house. I'm wondering if you might benefit from some legal advice as to how to proceed. It might save you a lot of grief!
I worked on the quilt yesterday & found that I needed 4 more blocks - so I found, starched & ironed the fabrics in the same colors & it's ready for cutting into strips.
But today, I was so sleep-deprived because of getting up earlier than usual for the house cleaners, and, though I went to bed earlier, I could not sleep - losing at least 3 or more hours that I needed. So, today I'm a zombie and not functioning too well. No work on the quilt. But the house is sparkling clean?
Since I was so tired that we decided to pick up a nice prepared salmon meal at a Whole Foods market not far from us - that I'm warming up for dinner.
I'm sure after you've completed the sale of your home, that you'll feel more like working at your quilt projects.
Take care and hope all turns out well for you.

Hi busybee - Hope you are doing well. It's still in the 70s here today, but going back to the 60s this weekend. It's been a really nice weather week and lots of trees are blooming. I hope you'll be able to get those 4 more blocks cut and made soon. I've actually been researching some lawyers, and may make an appointment to talk to one or two of them. First there are other things I have to get done for the house sale to go through and those could take up to a month, so everything with the sale is pretty much on hold. I'm just doing the things I need to right now. It's all really messy property line stuff, but I'm hoping it will all work out. I did end up putting away the fabrics I had for the Moda blocks and it makes me feel better not to see that fabric setting out when I walk past it all day. I know I'll be able to get back to it eventually. Take care and have a good weekend

Hi CJ: Big change in the weather today - sun was shining brightly all day - and it really heated up our family room - had to cover up the windows both with the outside shades and the inside drapes. It got into the 60s. I stood outside in the sun for a while - felt so good - and Molly had an airing in the outside Catio. So, spring has finally showed up around here.
We even brought up our big standing fan to cool down the family room so I can fix dinner. Though, we have plenty leftover from our Whole Foods salmon meal we enjoyed yesterday. The salmon was among the very best we have ever eaten and it came with fresh green beans and sweet potato seasoned wedges. All I have to do is reheat! We intend to get other prepared meals there - whenever I need a break.
I'm relieved to hear that you're seeking legal advice with your house sale transaction. You'll not be sorry. Better to spend some bucks beforehand - to fend off any big financial surprises at the end.
I worked on cutting fabric - both the 2-1/2" strips and the black 1-1/2" strips. So, they're ready for sewing together.
I also got a phone call from a long-time friend of mine, a few years younger, who lives in Tacoma - about 30 miles south of Seattle. She used to live near us, but after she married, she sold her house and moved into her new husband's house. (Her husband was a widower and about our age. She's a few years younger and has 4 adult children.) She doesn't like driving I-5 north so she never comes up to my area. But we talked for over an hour and caught up with all our latest ailments and our families.
Later, after your real estate negotiations are completed, you'll feel more like enjoying your quilting projects. Just take care of yourself and get good legal advice.

Hi CJ: It was an incredibly beautiful day out here today - getting up to 71 degrees - and sunny clear skies.
I did no sewing - but I did get outside and pruned my hydrangeas. It was perfect for me - as I waited for the sun to go over the house so I could work on the hydrangeas in the shade.
Otherwise, my strips are waiting for me to sew them together for the 4 extra blocks. When it's so nice outside, it's pretty hard to stay inside. Molly enjoyed her outing too in her Catio today.
Thinking of you and hoping you're coming up with some solutions to your property transaction.
Stay well.

Hi busybee - Happy St. Patrick's Day! Hope you are having another nice day, yesterday sounds like it was beautiful there. It's been nice here too. I'm glad you were able to get some gardening done. I have deadheads on the hydrangeas at my house too. I'd like to get them pulled off and my ornamental grasses trimmed, but it's difficult doing things at the house now since all my supplies have been moved out. And it's hard to explain, but I feel a bit scared/strange doing things at the house since it's empty inside. Thanks for your support on the house sale problems. It's so disappointing and depressing that my closing was supposed to be a few days ago and now if it even happens it's going to be at least a month from now. There are problems with the boundaries for my house/land and I'm having to deal with getting surveys done to verify the property lines. There is also a legal matter that I'm having to deal with too and I'll look for a lawyer this week. These problems are due to things my parents did with the property many years ago Even though this is going to cost me several thousand dollars, the money is not as important to me as getting the house sold. Now I'm going to have to find someone to cut the grass at least in April, and I've probably complained about that each year for the last several years, so you know what a hassle it is for me. And I'll still have to check on the house a few times a week. That can be up to an hour and half round trip every time. I've been trying to keep myself busy so I don't think about this, I just have to take each step and a time and hope it all works out This morning I pulled out my quilting things again and I got my blocks up to date for the Temperature quilt and I also made the Moda Blockheads block from March 6th and cut the fabrics for the block on March 13th and hope to get it sewn this afternoon. That will get me up to date with that quilt along. Then I have a few star blocks to make for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge and everything I currently have going will be up to date. Maybe then I can just pull out a fun quilt kit to work on. I hope you get to do some things with your quilt too. Take care

Hi CJ: It was another very sunny and clear day - but a little cooler - maybe reaching 69 here. But again, we'll take it - because in another couple of days, this warmer-than-normal weather will revert back to our usual rainy days and into the 50s - which is better than in the 40s!
I started out feeling good and I quickly got all my usual Sunday chores done for collecting trash and recycle for pickup on Monday morning. Then, I went outside to continue my gardening with pruning my 3 rose bushes that grow alongside our driveway. But - that didn't turn out so well, because before I even finished pruning my beautiful Hybrid Tea "Mr. Lincoln" (my favorite), a thorn caught my right hand and it bled like a faucet for a while - but then it stopped and a hematoma appeared - a big bump - painful, and into the house I went to treat my injury. I elevated and iced and the bump flattened out somewhat - but it's still quite painful.
So that was the end of my gardening - and any other productive work I had planned for the day. And I've ordered new gardening gloves from Amazon - one is normal length but well-padded; the other is leather and a longer length covering much of the arm designed for protection from rose bush thorns, blackberries, etc.. They will arrive on Thursday - just as the rains return.
Thank you for telling me about your property issues - but not uncommon when house/land sales are being negotiated. But so stressful nevertheless. The previous owner of our house/land had sold off part of the unused portion of a full acre-lot. It remained without any house being built for many years. But eventually, a buyer did start building on it - breaking many city codes in the process. Our neighbor, an attorney, reported the infractions to the city and the property owner had to add shrubbery and other plantings and greenery which had been deliberately scraped away. (I'll never forget the day the bulldozer appeared - my neighbor had to forcefully hold me back from trying to interfere with the damage being done.) That part of their property had a creek running through it, which continued to run through a heavily forested city park. Those property owners didn't last long - and others living in that house are much more respectful of codes and neighboring properties. We built a fence and a row of trees along the property line next to the new house.
So glad you're planning to finish your current quilt projects and a fun one for the future.
Another unforeseen problem arose today with our DD's accident at a seashore park where she had gone for an outing with her BF's pedigreed Pomeranian puppy. DD slid on a boat ramp on her way to the shore line with the dog. She fell hard with her knee completely turned under her. (Her knee wasn't so good in the first place.) She called 911 and she (and the dog) were taken to a hospital ER in a city north of Seattle. She called her BF who, with her son, drove up to the hospital - to get the dog (son) and to stay with DD (BF). Finally, BF drove DD to her home, and took an Uber back to her house. (Sounds terribly complicated, I know!) Tomorrow, DD cannot go to work - she'll make an appt. for a further exam and X-rays and an MRI and she'll need us/me to take her.
Around here, when the sun comes out - a rare occurrence - everyone goes outside for activities they've put off for many months! Two climbers died when they fell into a waterfall - temperature of 37 - not realizing how cold the waters still are - it's mid-March!
I noted that sometimes it's better for us to just stay in our caves - and not try venturing out!
One day at a time - is a good mantra for all of us.

Hi busybee - I'm glad you had another sunny day. It was sunny here too, but cooler, around 50. Sounds like lots going on in your life! I'm sorry to hear about the cut on your hand, and I hope that heals up soon. I also hope your DD's knee isn't too bad. The situation you described from your neighborhood is similar to my land except that nothing has been built on the unused portion, but it appears it isn't a valid lot - but maybe it is because we've been paying taxes on it for years. I hope I'll be able to get all the mess worked out but I can tell it's going to take some time. In the meantime, I received a call early this morning that the surveyor company could come to my house today, so I told them yes since I need to get this done as soon as possible. I drove up to the house to meet them and talked to them for a bit. It sounds like it will be 2-3 weeks before they finish the survey. At least I can get this part done and maybe still be able to sell the house, even if I can't sell the land. I was able to finish both of my Moda Blockheads blocks yesterday, so now I'm all caught up. I thought about quitting this quilt along, but I'm going to try to keep going. I want to get 25 blocks done and have a quilt that has 5 blocks across and 5 blocks down. There are 30 blocks in this second round and I just finished Block #11. I'm anticipating there will be some applique and paper piecing blocks that I won't make. Takec care

Hi CJ: Another nice day - not as warm - gradually cooling down out here - in the higher 60s - but sun is shining brightly. It's very nice weather - and I wish I could be outside doing my gardening but I think I need to be super careful until I get my super-duper new protective gardening gloves.
So glad to hear that you're working on your guilt-along - good for you. That's the spirit. Not much else you can do right now, any way. Property issues are so troubling - I wanted to add that we actually planted 2 buffer zones between our property and the new house on the back 1/2 acre, plus a fence. LOL
City code required them to build close to our property line because on the other side of the house, they had the creek flowing through and they had to stay back from it by a certain minimum distance. The creek is protected because of being a salmon breeding habitat. So, we actually ended up being infringed upon - in a manner of speaking.
But the 3 buffers have provided us privacy and the subsequent neighbors, I think, also appreciate all the trees and greenery as well. The first home owners who built the house initially - immediately tried to whack away at a cedar tree that cornered our property - just willy-nilly. We had to put a stop to that. They absolutely knew nothing about property rights or the natural habitat of flora and fauna. They were totally ignorant. (The owner had been given the property as a gift by her grandparents. They were belligerent from Day One - and immediately let their barking mutt run freely. Well, that is a No-No in our city. And the Animal Control Officer had to pay them a visit - twice - before they leashed their dog. They had moved from a much smaller town - and had never known any kind of restrictions. The very "privileged" female owner told us that they wanted to be "upwardly mobile." Well, good for them - but our city has stringent codes - and they needed to adhere to them. Eventually, the "privileged" female and her long-suffering husband - who came to our front door and apologized to us - divorced.) And they were gone - and had learned that being "upwardly mobile" entailed guidelines in an expensive city like ours - with huge taxes. (I always wondered if the grandparents paid their taxes too. LOL) We had initially, right after moving into this house 47 years ago, asked the owner of the back 1/2 acre if he would sell to us. But we were refused.)
DH went to the doctor and he's been diagnosed with a serious sinus infection and is taking an anti-biotic, which I just picked up a while ago. Our DD reports that she has a Quad Tendon Rupture - with surgery on Friday next. Long recovery - 6 weeks in a cast, etc... She may have to go on disability at work. It's the worst possible scenario for her. We have, over the years, so many times cautioned her to take care of herself - that she wasn't getting any younger (she's 57 now) and that every single injury she endured during her softball playing and coaching years would come back to haunt her. And she had the little dog with her, when she tried to negotiated the slippery boat ramp on the way to the beach. I wonder if she was holding her. I'm afraid to ask.
But I feel so sorry for her - she had great plans for her summer. And now, she can't even drive - for probably 6 weeks at least. I feel so very very badly for her. Don't know what to do. The drive from here to her small apartment is not easy for us. Just so troubling all the way around.
Stay well - and glad you're quilting again. I need to finish my strip blocks too. I must do something to take my mind off of my DH's illness and my DD's problems.

Hi busybee - I'm sorry to hear that you DH and DD are both having serious health issues, I hope the treatment they receive will help them both, and that you can hang in there because I know this is worrying for you.
All that property and land stuff can be a mess. It seems that most homeowners have to deal with it at some point.
I'm doing things around the house today and also getting paperwork in order to see what can be done about the property matter. I'll probably have to go to the county headquarters to check on some of these things. I haven't heard from the house buying company at all, and I'm just going to wait and see what they say. If this goes on longer than a month, I wonder if they just void the contract? Guess I'll see.
I'm hoping to do some quilting this week, I still have some star blocks to make, but it will probably be later this week before I get to them. Hope you can get to your quilting this week too.
It's a lot cooler here, still in the high 40s this afternoon, but sunny.
Take care:

Hi CJ: It's cooler today - in the mid 60s - but sun is still shining. This won't last - but it's nice to enjoy for a while. The trees and shrubs are so happy - bursting with new greenery and buds. My camellia is blooming and the daffodils ad narcissus are still alive and well - longest they've ever continued to bloom. But my gardening gloves haven't arrived yet. And my hand is still sore. So, my pruning will be late this year.
I'm very sad about my DD's and DH's predicaments. DH seems to be a bit better today, but his throat and sinuses are still inflamed and his voice is so raspy. Sleeping did not go like he'd wish but it was a bit better.
DD is getting ready for her surgery, which has been moved up to this coming Friday, March 22. She has hired a caregiver to come and stay with her overnight the first 2 nights after she comes home from the hospital. And she has rides set up with a nearby neighbor. All she would like us/me to do is come to visit her and "bring home-cooked food." That we can manage after my DH is better. But I'm worried about possible contagion from DH and passing it on to DD. In a couple more days, he should no longer be contagious. I'm okay - SO FAR.
I'll try to get some sewing done today. My heart isn't in it because I'm so depressed. But I think that once I get started, I'll feel better. Thank you for your understanding too. Life often throws us "curve balls," which gets in the way of our "best life," for a while.
Stay well and hope you get what you need at the county offices.

Hi busybee - How are you doing today? How are your DH and DD doing? I hope your DH is starting to feel better and I hope you don't get sick. I'm sorry your DD has to get surgery, but glad she has hired someone to care for her after the surgery. I hope you might be able to visit her once she's back home. I understand about not feeling like sewing with problems like these to deal with and be on your mind. I haven't done any quilting for a few days either. I spent most of yesterday at the County Courthouse going to several offices trying to fix some of the problems that have come up with my father's estate and the land he had that is causing problems with the sale. My DB and DSIL went we me and I'm so fortunate to have their help and support. We were able to get the estate matters taken care of, but in doing that it has caused a new problem with the vacant land. I don't want to get too detailed here, just to say it's not going to be easy to sell that land. I'll also be meeting with a lawyer next week and hopefully I can get some clarification on what can be done with the land. In the meantime, the house buying company has finally contacted me and said they are still interested in buying the house, so I'm hoping that sale can still go through in the next few weeks and then I can deal with the land matter later. My main goal is to get the house sold as soon as possible, even if I get stuck with the vacant land. Take care

Hi CJ: It's a cloudy day in the higher 50s - but still dry - pretty still - no big weather event out here today.
I'm so glad to hear that you've straightened out the estate matters at the County Courthouse, and that your DB and DSIL could go with you. And good that you have an appointment for legal advice. I'm sure hoping that the house sale will proceed now with no further impediments. As you say, you can deal with the extra land matters at another time.
I'm up to my ears with listening to all the arrangements being made for DD's surgical procedure and subsequent recuperation period - of 6 weeks. She's done a good job of contacting all the different parts to the puzzle of qualifying for "disability" status with the State - and she's learned that the FEDS do guarantee that she will not lose her job due to her disabled status and absence from work. She also qualifies for at-home PT - beginning next week. She also qualifies for some disability pay - so she is in good shape as to day-to-day expenses.
Both her BF and Dear Cousin will be with her on surgery day - BF will take her to the hospital; DC will be at her home to help her until the night-time "paid" help can get there. And YDS will visit her on Saturday. We will not go to visit until sometime next week. DH does not feel well enough to be visiting anyone just yet. Our YDS's birthday is on Sunday - but no plans have been made as to getting together - and, though we wanted to go visit on Sunday, DH does not feel up to visiting anyone "just yet."
I continue to feel sad and depressed. But DD told me "no crying." So, I'm trying hard to do that. (Not easy!)
I will start the chicken broth very soon.
Thanks for your understanding and support. It means a lot to me.
Take care and look forward to having all the house and land complications being settled.

Hi busybee - Hope you are doing well today and the weather is nice. It's cloudy and in the low 50s here, with a lot of rain predicted for tomorrow. I'm glad your DD has support from her BF and DC, I'm sure that is a relief to you. I'm sure your DD knows she has your support too, even if you can't be there with her I went up to my house today to check on things, and things were O.K. I received another email from the house buying company setting up a new settlement date, but they haven't responded to my requests for information about removing the land from the house sale. It's really difficult to get these people to communicate with you at all. It's like they just send you a bunch of "cut and paste" emails and never really talk to you. I guess I'll see how things go next week. It sure would be nice if I could sell the house in the next few weeks, then I wouldn't have to worry about the grass. I saw a few neighbors had already cut their grass. I think it's still too early since my grass is zoysia and it should wait a bit longer and for milder weather. My father planted all that zoysia grass himself, it's really pretty in the summer - just thick and green. I pretty much don't feel like doing any quilting, but maybe I'll try to make myself finish this week's Moda Blockheads block, and I'll try to update my Temperature quilt. I hope your DH is feeling better today and I'm keeping you, your DH and your DD in my thoughts Have a good weekend!
