OMG - after seeing our forecast I think I’ll hitch a ride with Betty and head south. It’s supposed to be a *high* of minus 4 on Sunday and the low (actual temp) will be minus 20. Ugh.

It finally dawned on me that you all are talking about 2018 property taxes. Very slow on the uptake here.. col!!
Peg... these couples who are friends of DS and DDIL are coming from Brazil to celebrate here. So they’re all going to meet up. They do have many friends who already live here or have condos here and spend time here. At Applebee’s, the only thing that I like is the hum, trying to remember the name. I think Asian Chicken salad. Chinese chicken salad? ( RV, help me out, you used to like it, I think)It’s really good and of course I order it with the crispy chicken. It’s was( back in the day) a whole day’s point allowance, too. Yikes! I was seeing your forecast temps on the news. OMG!! Glad you got the shoes on their way.
Luv... there’s still junk the DGDs left behind. A bunch of packets of mini Oreos, potato chips...aagghh!! Meg will like the chips but she makes too big of a mess with the Oreos. Will have to toss those. Anyway, I know how you feel!
Caryn.. I SO wanted to laugh at the shoe catastrophe, but DDIL was peeved, só had to keep it to myself until she left! Then I had a good giggle.
Well, they left around 3 this afternoon. When I went to start washing sheets I opened the folding door and there were two bikinis on top of the washing machine. Guess DDIL put them there to dry since these aren’t candidates for the dryer. I texted DS just to let them know so they wouldn't go crazy looking for them. Should have kept quiet. Now guess who is going to FedEx bright and early to get them to Miami by Saturday. I’m afraid to rely on the mail since they’re leaving Monday.
Peg.. just remembered that you asked. Miami is roughly 40 miles away.
House is so quiet. I miss them, but a quiet house isn't So bad... lol! Got a lot of wash and cleaning to do, bit going to take my time.

From Allison:
Evening all. We are passing through Richmond VA. Hit stinky traffic thru D.C but we are cruising now. Probably going to try for the NC border. DH is doing all the driving while I navigate . Please share on the thread.

Peg... thanks for the updates on Allison’s trip!
Betty probably isn’t reading and neither is Allison, so I can share that next Thursday we’re supposed to get down Into the 30s, the coldest cold snap in ages here due to the cold you all up north have moving down here. It’s supposed to last almost a week.
RV... we’ll have to find some warm clothes for real!
I did some sheets and towels. Lots more similar fun o. Tap for tomorrow.
Night!

Khalua - glad the cold weather is now and not the end of January! Sorry for Betty and Allison.
Peg - that's weather to stay inside!
3 hr tax class tonite, head is spinning but I was happy to have DS with me! Over 200 people at a meeting that usually has 30-40. EVERYBODY came. Nice to see some old friends.
We saw our friends who lost their home in the fire, they took some ski gloves, hats, socks, long underwear etc. The actual clothes were too big, but happy we were able to give them something. The rest of the stuff we took to the thrift shop. Another load tomorrow of other junk.
DD arrives at 10:30 AM, she'll clear customs at JFK, so it shouldn't be a long wait at the airport for her.

Good Morning BAMS..
As some of you BAMS saw on FB that NSDS was released from Hospital yesterday afternoon......and heart was fine. I do hope they have him on a medication that will clear this problem up. His legs look horrible. Lasix yesterday to help reduce the swelling.......and now on to DD1's problems. She has a very bad knee, and went to UF/Gainesville yesterday for follow up on her problem. She received a cortisone shot and is in some pain until it kicks in. She will begin PT and swimming for some help. I must say, both DD1 and NSDS are immensely overweight. The weight seems to be creating a lot of problems for them. DD2 and DS1 are both WW......it truly makes a difference. BTW......was up 1.4 yesterday at my WI.....think the ham had something to do with that!
Khaula, I am bracing for the cold......HATE it. This morning it is 50 here and nw wind is at 9 mph..not fun to walk in as my walk street runs north and south. Next week will have to reconnect my light for the pump to timer so pipes won't freeze. I have a well!
Allison and Betty.....will be cold next week.......but not so much for you two.....hope at least it is sunny.
RV......glad the Blind Man mystery is solved.
Jeanne.......sorry about the movie and Happy Anniversary.
Gina.......safe travels for DD and DS.
Caryn......good your DDs are have a nice time in the city.
Good morning to all and to those I have missed.

Good morning all, I see it’s snowing lightly - we are expected to get 1-4 inches before the day is over, but I thought it was going to start later in the day? <shrug> who knows. It isn’t as cold (yet) as it was or is going to be, woke up to 10* above. No place to go and plan to eat out of the fridge - two kinds of soup to chose from so an easy peasy day here.
RV LOL at the neighbors forgetting to shut the door, they will be very glad to get back to you! Even with your ‘cold’ weather. There is a reason the people in the north and midwest head south.
Patsy was glad to see your son got out of the hospital, hope that they have found the right combo to help him. Sorry aobut DDer’s knee - I’m sure the PT and swimming will help her. After my fall I totally believe in the PT people, it’s amazing with all the hardware in there that I can easily (and painlessly) move that ankle, much more than the one I broke in the early 70’s, but didn’t have PT when they took the cast off.
Gina you are going to have your hands even more full, trying to wrap your brain around the new tax plan plus trying to get things downsized for your move. Exciting that DDer will soon be with you.
Khalua I remember that salad, I don’t think I ever had it, but others did love it, they had a shrimp salad I used to really like. I’m going to order differently next time. I think I said I had soup and salad, but what I actually had was soup with a (supposedly) hot pasta three cheese thing with chicken. Going back to the missing shoe in the box, usually they open the box and check that both shoes are the same size, I’m surprised she couldn’t tell there was only one. What will the girls do while the adults are partying?
I think I”ve mentioned I’m hosting DH family on the 2nd, I decided against making lasagna cause one brother doesn’t like ricotta or cottage cheese in it, and I found a rigatoni recipe that will be more dump and bake, then I get an email from his sis that she is ‘disappointed’ that we are having two pasta dishes, and she wishes we had stayed with lasagna cause she *can* eat that but doesn’t like other pastas, and DBIL’s turkey taco casserole is *full* of macaroni (which I don’t think it is as I think it has torn up shells in it) anyway, what’s the difference to her between round pasta and flat pasta? I’m going to talk to DBIL today, and may decide to make shepherd’s pie / casserole instead of th pasta? <sigh>. Kinda getting pizzed about the whole thing. I guess if you only like meat and potatoes and not pasta it’s a *thing*? Thanks for letting me vent. (Again)
Yep, definitely snowing now. Glad we did our trip to town yesterday, although it was snowing then too. Winter..... so not a fan.

Morning BAM!
Peg..REALLY??!! I think that your sister-in-law is way outta line making demands like that. You have every reason to be pizzed!! I was pizzed today getting up at dawn to FedEx those bikinis. Actually was peeved every since I was asked to do it. It just seemed like the last straw. Among a couple of last straws I won't bore you with. It will probably be colder than here where Allison will be and even colder where Betty will be. I don't remember it getting down to 30 here in south Florida. I have no idea what the salesperson did to forget a shoe, but they found it, so..
Patsy..good to hear NSDS is out of the hospital. I hope he gets better soon. Ugh at knee issues!! Now both mine are hurting, woke me up all night long. I need to call for an appointment next week. They didn't answer yesterday, well, they did but to say the office is closed until Tuesday. Ick at your weather!! It was 63 when I went to FedEx at 8. Nippy for us down here, as you know. Stay warm!!
RV..apparently your neighbors left the door open!! I saw it's going to be 7 in Nashville and zero in Indianapolis. Good grief!!
Gina..great that DS was with you at the meeting. So good that DD will be home soon! Thanks again for all the info and explanations you are giving us on the new tax plan. Fingers crossed that we won't have a cold front while you're here!!
I've been posting forever. Even the bug guy came. I wasn't expecting him, just thought they would skip this month, since they're regular day fell on Xmas. This was a different guy, very nice and I was impressed that he knew Meg was an African Grey. He stopped to talk to her and of course that made me happy.
Going to take the house cleaning slow. No real rush.
Happy Friday, all!

Good morning. It's 7* here, going up to a balmy 15* by 3pm. I am heading out shortly for Goodwill to make our end of year donation. DH is concerned that the car line will be long, especially this year. DD1 is in the city with her DSis and friends for the long weekend, so it's back to Old Dogs and Old People hahaha.
My WI was up .4 - I had some salty food yesterday. At least I'm holding steady. But still want to lose.
This has been open for an hour while I did client work and talked to my best friend. I need to get outta here. I'll BBL with personals.
Stay WARM!

It’s pouring down rain here! I like the cold and sun oh well!
Peg all these complaints about what you’re serving! Even if you don’t like what the hostess is serving, there is always other food you can eat! Wow it’s cold there and snowing! I’d like some snow.
Khalua ugh at having to get up so early to go to Fed ex! How’s the knee? Nice the bug guy talked to Meg, did she talk to him? Cleaning yes that’s a project to do really slow! Lol
Caryn brrrrr! We give to ARC and they pick up which is sooo nice!
i should start putting my decorations away! Ugh have the don’t wannas! I stayed OP yesterday! I can do this!

I'm back. Got the charity donation done. Stopped at TJ's but forgot to bring a package DD1 wants returned (I need to go to UPS). There's always later or tomorrow.
Luv - I don't blame you for not wanting to put the decorations away. they looked beautiful.
Khalua - oh no on FedEx! I bet you miss everyone already even though they gave you a lot to do!
Peg - what a pain with all the food requirements. I can relate given my part-vegan, part gluten-free, part eat anything family.
Patsy - I'm glad DS's heart isn't compromised but oh boy on the ravages of obesity. I hope both of your children can get through all of their heath issues.
RV - I hope the heater works in your camper. As far is that damp stuff, it works great. I gather it's damp in your winter home???
Time to get back to work. It's monthly invoice day.

Washed my towels, now doing my sheets. I knew you all would be thrilled to hear that.. lol!
I’m snuggled under the throw I bought for Leonora. It’s so soft and yummy! It’s 72 here now but for some reason I’m cold.
I hope MaMarge can find us now that links have been posted on FB.
Caryn... I hope you have the luck I had at FedEx at UPS. I was the sole customer so was in and out pretty quickly. I was worried about rush hour traffic at 8 but wow, the roads were practically empty. Amazed I got passed Starbucks(right beside FedEx) without going in for a Chai Latte. A victory, because I love them.
Luv... I put my little Christmas tree away yesterday. I’ll remember to take the wreath off the door someday, maybe around Easter...lol!! Of course Meg sat there like a bump on a log and didn't say zip to the bug man. She’s shy and usually only talks when she gets used to the a new person. She called “bye” to him as he walked out the door, though.
Dryer buzzed so stopped to put the bottom sheet on my bed before it got too wrinkled. Top sheet and pillow cases are on the final rinse. I think I’ve been using the same set of sheets for a year. That’s how much I hate folding fitted sheets... lol!
Enough useless chatter for now..

Still snowing - thought you would want to know. <grin> It has caused a major pileup on interstate 35 just west of us (about 20 minutes west). Lunch of leftover soup hit the spot - and it was nicely hot. My totally favorite soup in town is the hot and sour they serve at our favorite Chinese place, spicy with red pepper flakes (but not too much) and has always been hot (temp) when it’s served. Yum. Thinking of that makes me think of tea, going to put some on in a bit. I’m not sure what tonight will bring. I do have some Chinese something in the freezer, could do that. Like Khalua - kinda rambling here. Not doing laundry - think I told you when it’s really cold our air vent freezes over and we have sewer smell in the house, not at all pleasant, will wait until it warms up some, or at least the sun is shining. No hurry on anything except I’d just like to get it done. Caryn - I sent DDer’s hairbrush via USPS, they told me with regular mail it would take 5-7 business days, but if I wanted to upgrade and sent it priority it *should* arrive in 2-3 days, I elected for regular mail and DDer got it the next day! Glad I didn’t spend the extra $ to send it priority. Wish I had thought to include the knife I found outside by the steps, DSonIL always brings his own ‘tools’ and I’m sure this slipped out either while he was loading or sometime between the house and garage where he did some of the prep work and where he fried the onion rings for the green bean casserole - well some of the onions made it onto the casserole, but not as many as he wanted - oops <sure were good> Luv - well, yes, there will be other food but DSisIL was not happy about that one either. I’m going to do a shepherd’s pie (in a 9x13 casserole) it should solve the problem, as it’s meat & potatoes. Haven’t made one in awhile, but know I have all the ingredients so I don’t have to go back to town for anything. I’m going to wait and put Christmas things away after the dinner for the family. Guess I’ll go get my book out - oh wait, it’s on here. Guess I’ll switch over and read my book for awhile. CYA all later.......

DDer just sent me an email telling me that the mystery writer, Sue Grafton, has died. I’m so sad, loved her Kinsey Millhone books, the ABC series starting with ‘A Is For Alibi If winter keeps up like this I might have to start all over and read them again.

I loved the Sue Grafton books! That's sad.
Peg - DD's package is to be mailed by the post office but our post offices are far away and the UPS store, 5 minutes away has a box where you can drop USPS pre-paid packages and that's it. Very convenient.
Khalua - congrats at being so resolute re Starbucks!
So my hilarious new iPhone case saga continues. It finally came and I was so happy because this phone is very thin and slippery and I'm always concerned that I'll drop it. Well, I opened the Amazon envelope and...wait for it...I ordered the 8 plus size, not the normal 8. Grrrr. I've now ordered the right one (I hope LOL) and paid extra for 1 day delivery. I can't take this anymore. But...DH never ordered a case and is thrilled to have this one since he got the bigger phone. Now we'll have matching iPhone cases ewww. But it's a great case and very sharp looking (silver with black bumpers - and the new one has a kickstand)

Hello from outside of Jacksonville Florida. We have about three and a half hours to go. Thanks to luv while posted a link on FB so I can type on the thread. And thank you RV and Khalua for copying my FB posts. DH is driving the last leg DSis phoned and I told her we are in NC. She thinks we left this morning. DH wanted a free day without her stopping by. Now that she isn't working I am concerned she will want to do stuff with us. We do have Tuesday dinner planned but she wants to come eat in our town. I don't want her hanging around but fear that is going to happen - sigh... DS/DDIL will shoot me. Or at least send daggers my way.
I did read some of the posts but will go back tomorrow and take my time

Allison - I expect yoga will feel great after a day and half in the car. Sorry about the sister dilemma - I would think you could use the excuse of ‘too tired’ tonight and tomorrow? But, I know you really wanted to go to her and not have her come your way, can you think of some reason you *need* to go that way, something to see or do?
DH and I just got in from shoveling our 1-4 inches - which is more like 6” and still snowing. We just did the garage approach and the deck, not clear down the driveway, which DH does with either the little tractor / front loader bucket - or the snowblower. he didn’t seem interested in doing it today, and by tomorrow I don’t want him out in the brutal cold.
I sure wish I could help MaMarge post here, not sure what’s up with that. I’ve always enjoyed reading all her posts, hope she’s with us soon.
Caryn - I think I have all of her books, they were often gifts from DDer - and DDer says she downloaded ‘Y” on her tablet, but hasn’t finished reading it, she says there’s another really bad guy in it. My problem with shipping is the opposite of yours, UPS is in Marshalltown, nearly 30 minutes away, USPS is only 7 miles, or 10 (or so) minutes.
Khalua - so how many loads of laundry do you have left?

MaMarge!!!! So glad you found a way to make it work! So happy now. Love to have you post again with us here. Facebook is okay for what it is, but to me isn’t as personal as our thread.
I welcome you with open arms.
Watching the Kentucky / Northwestern game, and think it’s one of the most odd games I’ve ever watched, they keep kicking students off the field, and the reasons seem to be questionable. I think the announcer just said what I feel, ‘the Officials should NOT be part of the game, but neutral on the field. These have not been. It’s really odd.
