We made it to our hotel in Manchester, TN. Just ordered a half price pizza (thanks to RetailMeNot). Now we can kick back, enjoy a refreshment and wait for delivery to knock on our door! Traveling went well but man it was bitter cold when we left this morning and actually had a drift to pull out through though not really large.
We're tired as neither of us slept well last night. Tonight should be better.
I'm going to try to read to see what I've missed... I'm sure there was plenty!

Good evening bammies. I lost my post when I moved the old laptop (it only works when plugged into power as the battery is shot). We arrived last night around 9 PM, unpacked and headed for a drink and food. This morning we went to yoga, Farmer's Market and brunch. When I spoke with my DM she thought she had slipped with DSis and told her we arrived last night but I texted DSis today around 3:30 and told her we were here and ready for football. When my DM called tonight she said DSis had heard from me today that we were here. Enough of the trying to avoid her - sigh... It was so very nice to unlock the door last night and "be home" even if it is the home away from home. AND we have two full weeks - DH is very excited to spend extra time here.
Betty - glad you made it to Tenn. Safe travels tomorrow.
Peg - DDIL graduated from Northwestern and was biting her nails over that game last night. And, no wine so she was stressing with no relief - lol.
MaMarj - glad you found us!
Gina - how wonderful for DD to make connections while on her trip!!!!
We are trying to get a Universal remote to get linked to the TV. The remote that came with the TV does not have a number pad so to change channels you need to go up or down the entire guide. DH got it to link but not with the number key functionality. A work in progress.
Posting before the laptop moves again...

Ok - next post - I am using my phone as a hotspot for the next two weeks. The water lines to the washer are dripping but not too bad. I will contact a plumber after 1/1/18 and hope they can come out while we are still here. We are back from watching Villanova lose and Penn State win. Now watching the Miami game. Tomorrow will be the Eagles and Monday will be more football -- ah, my life...
The weather is supposed to be nice tomorrow and then get cold and rainy for the three days DS/DDIL are here. I will walk and get in the pool if it is in the 70's tomorrow.

Going to go watch PBS in bedroom.
Goodnight.

Hi all,
Allison - you are watching Miami, and Betty and I are watching Wisconsin! <grin> I expect Patsy is joining you in watching Miami! So glad you are ‘home’, hope you enjoy the stay and that your temps warm up. We are at -9 - or were the last time I looked. Sorry about the washer. Hope it’s an easy fix. LOL at DDIL biting her nails, I was right there with her - but I could have wine, however what a wonderful reason she has to avoid it. So excited for them and you.
RV- - I’m watching football in the kitchen, while DH watches a movie in the living room, unfortunately he needs the TV LOUD so he can hear what they are saying - he had his left hearing aid sent in and he really can’t hear much of anything unless it’s really LOUD. I may head to the bedroom to get some space between us. If it weren’t so cold we would head out and find a pair of headsets so he could listen at a level comfortable for him, and I could have quiet.
Betty - so glad you made your destination, and the travel wasn’t too bad, think it might have been worse yesterday than today. Continued good travel vibes to you. You hope to stay in the camper tomorrow night, right?
Jeanne - awww, so nice to go to a wedding where the couple show love and respect for one another and the guests are good looking and fun. Sounds like a good time, except for the foul weather and no walking around, oh and your shoes falling apart! Tha’s no fun at all.
I’m off to get away from the TV noise, and crawl under the heated blanket - where the cat and dog already are. The coffee is prepped for morning, and no place to go since church has been cancelled due to the extreme cold.
I’ll CIT - hope to hear from Gina about DDer’s trip.

Allison - Hope your NSDSis doesn't drive you nuts. We're relaxing and watching the Wisconsin -Miami game.
Peg -I really feel for anyone in that bitter cold, so glad we're south of that! These cooler temps won't bother us too much and even with rain the first few days I won't mind as I can get things organized.
Mamarge - What a nice surprise! I thought of RV as we went by Nashville so I'll think of you tomorrow in Georgia. We may stay in the lower part tomorrow night but could get into Florida. Nice not having to be on a tight schedule!
J - Did you get that close g done last week? Any more news on the guy and his city-owned property?
Caryn-LOL at only having two old people and two old dogs left. Sorry the renovations will need to wait.
Gina - So happy DD had such a wonderful time. What a beautiful gal with an amazing future thanks to having such a great mom. You must be so proud. How nice to have everyone home.
Khalua - Don't wear yourself out!
Time to get settled in and get some sleep. Tomorrow is another day (yes I'm in the south) and loved the movie.

Good Morning all you BAMS....
Well, I shouldn't complain about the weather after reading Peg's post. Wow........have to check out sundogs also as I have never heard of them! Temp here this morning is 40 right now...and later in the week will be 30. I grew up in mountains of Southern West Va. but lived in Miami for 38 years.....and to me it's cold here. High today will 66 they say....oh we will see. I do hope we see a warm up while Allison and Betty are here.
Of course I tuned in to the Miami vs Wisconsin last night....went to sleep when Miami was ahead and woke up later and we lost. Betty, I know you were happy. After working for UM for 23 years, I am a true Hurricane fan!
MaMarge good to see you check in.
NSDS seems to be improving....I didn't hear from him yesterday but will check today. Just a short text re: game. DD1 is feeling some relief from the cortisone injection. Hopefully much better today.
Yesterday I met DD2 at Starbucks for our little "meeting". DGSs were going to Miami for the game....and I actually saw them at the Mall during my walk....they were on their way and had stopped at the local sports store. DD2 and DSIL are off work on Tuesday and will come over to "un-decorate" my house. I will miss the bright lights from tree! When I turn them on I feel like singing "Brighter the corner where you are"!
RV, Khalua, Allison and Betty stay warm this week.
Going to church later.....will have to choose something a bit warmer to wear.
If I don't get back today.........wishing each of you a very Happy, Healthy New Year!

55 degrees here this morning. Cold enough to run the furnace. DH says it hasn't chaanged since he got up. Our friends got out of Ohio and made it to Knoxville yesterday so suspect they shouldn't encounter anymore snow. Not sure if another friend made it out of Toronto yet.
Peg - Ouch - that bitter cold hurts. You are brave to stay the winter.
Allison - Glad you made it to your 2nd home.
Patsy - You are a lot colder than we are. Hope DS is doing better.
Time to read the Sunday paper.

Morning all, well, the cold has arrived. We are at -12 this morning, but the wind chill is somewhere down in the -30 category. Ugh. I’m not sure what the day will bring, we are not leaving the house! I don’t know if we will even get the paper today - it’s delivered on Sundays, the rest of the time it comes in the mail.
RV - you are right this is the kind of cold that hurts your face. I’m just glad I’m at the stage where I don’t have to get out, of course it was easier to think about getting out 20 years ago, we just bundled up and off we went. I know DDer & DSonIL plan to head to Des Moines today to spend tonight with friends. They do have a dog sitter coming in to spend the night at their place.
Patsy - what did you do at UM? We were happy that ISU (Cyclones) held on to win by one point. It was a nail biter through the whole game. I confess I gave up on the Wisc / Miami game before the end, so only heard the score after I got up this morning.
Betty - wondering if you are back on the road, hope you have another day of easy travel. Glad you checked in - have sure been thinking about you.
Allison - I hope that nsDSis losing her job doesn’t mean she thinks you need her company the whole time you are there. I remember you saying your DH would rather not have her around. Good luck with it all. How far are you from your DMom?
I think I”ll get off here and figure out soemthing for breakfast, then hit the shower. Have a wonderful last day of 2017.

RV and Patsy..It's 56 here, nippy for sure!
Patsy..good to hear NSDS is improving. Stay warm!
RV..my condo stays warm inside, so haven't turned the heat on. Nippy out on the porch, though.
Allison..good to hear you got here safely. Hope there's a quick fix for the leaks!
Betty..great that you made you first destination. Have a safe trip today!
Jeanne..that wedding sounded amazing. So sorry about the shoes!! One time when I was the matron of honor, the heel broke off my shoe as I left the hotel for the wedding. Luckily there was a shoe repair a few door down and the guy tacked it on. Whew!
Peg..that's WAY too cold. Good thing the canceled church! I knew what sundogs were because Cathy Anderson sent me a pic many years ago. Before that I had no idea what they were.
Well, the FedEx package is still on a truck in Miami (since 6:38 yesterday morning). Says the delivery will be on the next business day..col! Who ever heard of FedEx taking 5 days to ship something 40 miles? I'm upset, but IIWII. They leave tomorrow, but one of DDIL's friends who is staying longer will take the bikinis to Brazil when she leaves.
Time to find some breakfast. Have a good Sunday, all!

Hi again......beautiful and sunny right now.....and 53! Just saw a post on FB from local TV station saying there could be snow on Wednesday in CFL.....oh no.
Peg to answer your question about job at UM. I was the Director of Volunteer Services at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute/UM Loved my position there.....international facility so met so many people from around the world. So different from my current location. lol. I also worked at the Florida Lions Eye Bank for almost 5 years prior to Volunteer Services. My first child was a very early preemie and lost vision in one eye from ROP (retinopathy of prematurity ) so was always very interested in eye health.
Enough for now....got to shower and get to church.

Good morning. The dogs wouldn't walk this morning. The roads are covered in too much road salt and it's very very cold. So we did a short circuit on my front lawn, a bit in our woods and they did their business. Then for exercise I decided to shovel the driveway. The snow yesterday was maybe 2" and very dry, so I was able to push it aside. I was out there for about 45 minutes walking the whole time and worked up a sweat so I feel that it counts as today's "workout."
My BFF and her dear DH are coming at about 4 and will stay the night. We're meeting DB and DSIL and going out for Japanese food followed by the movie about PT Barnum. Coming back here for cookies and coffee and we'll make it an early evening. I'll go buy bagels and lox for tomorrow morning's breakfast and get some veggies and something to make for dinner tomorrow night - probably fish.
Also today, I'm expecting my "new" iPhone case LOL. DH can't believe they'll deliver today but that's what I paid for so they'd better!
Patsy - good news about your NSDS and DD. I can't believe you'll get snow! Amazing.
Khalua - ugh about FedEx. You paid all that extra $ and it didn't get there anyway. Grrr.
Peg - I thought we had cold weather (12*) until I read your post.
Good morning RV, Allison, MaMarge and all who follow!

Breakfast done (scrambled egg and one piece of bacon for me). Shower (Ahhh, felt so good) and kitchen cleaned up, now what to do with myself? Oh yeah, check in with my friends to see if anyone has posted!
Caryn - You are cold! And so are our friends in FL, it’s just we have extreme cold here. It’s really all what we are used to, and I don’t plan getting used to these below zero temps. However, the sun is shining and the temp in the house is 74*, so what’s to complain about? Have a great evening with your good friends, nothing better. I talked with my BFF and we both agreed that staying home makes sense for us this year.
DSon called to say they are coming to see us mid afternoon. DDIL is baking DH a from scratch angel food cake, his favorite cake, and not so bad for him as other cakes. I told her on DH’s birthday he was kinda hoping she would bring him a cake - even tho’ DDer had made that rum cake for us. DDer and I had a long talk last night, and in it she was saying that DDIL had a hard day with her family yesterday, she has a brother and sis-in-law that used to be very close to her, but since her Dad’s illness and passing they have been just terrible. I feel really bad for her, she such a wonderful caring person and doesn’t deserve to be treated the way they have been treating her. It all goes back to the home farm, this brother wants it for himself and has ‘borrowed’ money from what he owes his mom to pay for things on the farm, like a different tractor, and I don’t even know what else, and neither do they because the dad took the one brother off the corporation so this brother is the only one that really knows what’s going on. It’s a mess that’s only going to get worse.
Patsy - that position must have been so rewarding. I’m sure those that you met made life very interesting. They have come a long way in eye care, as my BFF knows well, she has macular degeneration in one eye, but caught it early and had the shots and they helped clear it up - at least for now, of course it will have to continue to be monitored, but what a blessing.
Khalua - I’m sorry to hear the bikinis didn’t make it to them, but you did the best you could, seems odd that it’s on the truck but not delivered. I hope those shoes get back okay, DH didn’t pick up a receipt at UPS so I can’t track them, he offered to take them in, and I let him, when he got back he said ‘I didn’t think you needed the receipt’, ugh. I”m sure it will be fine, it’s in the original zappos box and had the printed out label.
Everyone stay warm, even tho’ you don’t have what we do, it’s still cold where each of you are. Take care, bundle up and enjoy this last day of the year. Happy NYE.

Just trying to keep up with everyone. I won't mention our temperature here, but you'll see it tomorrow if you watch the Tournament of Roses Parade.
A group of friends is treating one of our group to a Birthday brunch (yes, she is a New Year's Eve baby). We will try to keep it light an cheery. Her dear husband passed away on Thursday evening from terminal liver failure. He had come home from the hospital on Wednesday to be at home in hospice, and didn't make it even 24 hours. We are beyond sad. He was 67, so not that old, but had a number of medical challenges in the past two years, including Afib. I know how she is feeling, and it has brought up a lot of sad memories.
Anyway- I came by to wish you all a Happy New Year. Let's hope for a bright tomorrow.

Sharon, saw your post after I posted, I’m so sorry for your friend, and for you as the memories of losing Phil come into your mind. You have done a good job of continuing on, but it can’t be easy, and I know Patsy would be the one that could understand what you go through everyday. A birthday brunch sounds wonderful. DH said he was hungry for bacon, we had bacon with scrambled eggs for our breakfast and ‘clean out the fridge’ for our lunch. He’s now napping, and I”m finishing my book. I’m wishing you a very Happy and Healthy New Year. I’m glad when you check in.

Good afternoon all. DH & I skipped yoga and took a long walk instead. We walked straight down the street directly to the Gulf - it was two miles. We turned north and walked up to "downtown" and then over to the trail (it is a converted rails to trail and it great for walkers and bikers). We took the trail back to our main road and walked the last 1.5 miles back home for a total of 6.5 miles. I went to the pool when we got back from the walk. The water is heated and outside was around 70. It was lovely and I was all alone at the pool. I dropped DH off at a sports bar where he could watch 4 games at once. I went to the liquor store and Wal-Mart and back to the sports bar for late lunch. I checked my emails at the bar and found out I do need to teach Cost Accounting - daym... I had so hoped for no new preps this semester. Well, making lemonade, this is the very last accounting class for me to prep - after this it will only be new editions. The problem I have is I do not have the newest edition with me. I hope to get it ordered THIS WEEK and delivered to Florida to get me time to prep. SIGH...
On a much more positive note, DS & DDIL have landed and are at my DMom's. While they were still in the air I spoke with DM. She was venting away about DCrazySis and how much she upset her today. Well, little did she know my DS/DDIL will give her something really exciting to focus on and not my sis. Not sure what time DS/DDIL will arrive at the condo. Probably around 9.
Khalua - how very frustrating that it is taking so long to get the package delivered.
RV - remind me - what are you making in the crock pots?
Peg - I need to think about my twos. I would love to stop getting drawn into my sisters issues (all of DCrazySis's issues plus the animosity between the two sisters). I need to continue spending time with my immediate family. To start - hummmm? Not sure.
Time to post - my computer gave me a message it will be restarting to install some updates.

On our way down to my dad. DD stayed home as she is coughing.
Sorry about the cold temps, glad Peg can stay inside.
Allison, double drat about teaching cost accounting. But maybe the prep excuse can keep your sister at an appropriate distance? So nice your dmom will get the good news in person.
RV, have fun with the blackeyed peas.
I have my lima beans soaking, and will make the soup tomorrow. We'll have a lazy morning with mimosas and pancakes while watching the parade. DD got a roku, so we hope to be able to see some bowl games.
Sharon, so sorry for your friend. Understand about the painful memories. Hugs.
Caryn, I hope you can figure out a way to get some of what you want as far as the remodel. Maybe the change in tax law will make Connecticut property more attractive financially?
Betty, safe travels.
Patsy, how is your son doing?
Khalua, sorry about the bikinis. That's awful to have taken so long. Is Meg missing the company?
Luv, hope all is well. Please send the rain south, we need it.
Happy New Year to all.

Allison - well, shoot, we were hoping you wouldn’t have to do that cost accounting course.
Gina - safe travels to you as you go to see your DDad. Yum on soup tomorrow. I think I’m doing a pasta thing, that DSisIL doesn’t care for.
Luv - happy new year to you too.
I really just came here to report (or groan) that our temp is now minus 18 degrees. It’s just nasty cold out there. Had a lovely visit with DSon & DDIL, they are looking forward to heading to Hawaii in 20 days. But, DDer also reported she has another melanoma- this one on her bottom, she says she used to use the tanning bed and didn’t want tan lines, she isn’t sure if that’s what led to this one, or it’s just the hereditary thing, either way as soon as she gets back from Hawaii, she will have to deal with it.
Now that I have vented about this wicked weather - I’ll go hide in my corner, and wish I had a fireplace!

Happy new year, Bammies!
We’re hanging out. Had dinner and champagne, since we don’t think we’ll make it to midnight. Lol!
Gina - hope you visit w DDad goes well
Sharon - sorry about your friend. Never good but worse at the holidays.
Allison - so hard to stay out of the fray with the sisters. I don’t have quite the same experience with my 3 sisters but had a glimpse into one DSis’s crazy at the wedding. If I ever thought of moving near her, not now!
Peg - sorry about DDIL and her sibling. So hard to understand, but happens all too often. The stuff that comes out when parents pass!
Khalua - so sorry about FedEx. It you did all you could. And it is only bikinis.
It is 9 degrees now and keep thinking of the dopey people standing in Times Square!
Watching “Robin Hood” the old one with Errol Flynn. So good!
Enjoy!
