Are you a WW Lifetime Member who has gained back some weight and is trying to lose it again? Join us in this thread for support, encouragement and friendship. We start a new thread every Monday morning and contribute to it throughout the week. We are usually pretty active, so we should be near the top of the recent replies, if you can't find us enter "Beginning Again" in the search bar.
Everyone is welcome to join a wonderfully supportive group of new friends. We have a great community of support for returning Lifetime and Maintenance Members, as well as other members who are embarking on their weight loss journey again.
The Beginning Again thread on this Board has attracted and supported over 100 BAM (Beginning Again Members) since March 30, 2001. The resulting sorority of kindred spirits has been vital to the recovery of dozens of Lifetime Members who had regained some, or all and then some of the weight they'd originally lost at WW.
It is our belief in the support and camaraderie found in the Beginning Again community that engendered the decision to re-post this invitation at the beginning of each week. So let the journey Begin – Again!

Good morning and I hope you had a wonderful Christmas Eve! This week and next are a challenge for us all, as we are contending with big meals and parties. Can we do it? Sure we can! We have the tools at hand. As a former WW leader used to say "make a plan". Are we going to maintain, lose or allow a small gain during these weeks. Whatever we decide is okay as long as we stick to our goal.
We had a really fun, laugh-filled Chranukah evening last night. Our song was a big success and so was everyone else's. My DB and family decided to do a take-off on the news instead of doing a song, using photos and "news copy" to make light jokes about everyone. The one aimed at me was "Caryn says she likes small, non-shedding dogs. Now she has a big black lab." It's not funny in writing it down but with the delivery it got a big laugh.
Kirby and our new puppy Buck are getting along better and better. Buck sure is energetic, especially compared to us "old farts" and by that I include Kirby and Olive, who are either nearly 8 or 9 years old. hahaha.
We leave at 10:30 for the day at DSIL's Dsister's house - about 45 minutes north west of us where we'll have brunch and dinner and hang out all day. We got snow early this morning - a nice wet 2", perfect for making a snowman if you're inclined :-). The sun is now out and it's not very cold so I expect the snow to start melting.
Hoping all of you are enjoying time with your families today.

Thanks Caryn for the New Beginning.....
Just a quick check In this beautiful Christmas morning. Merry, Merry to all!
Update on NDSDS.....was released from hospital at about 4:30 yesterday afternoon........they stopped by the house, picked up their things and left for SFL. DDIL wanted to get home last night as she has to work today. He seemed much better but far from well. I hope they keep tabs closely on the condition.
Went to DD2's last night......had a great time.....saw DGS from Fort Lewis.......also his brother who lives here but I see rarely as he works for Parks Dept. and always ends up having to work holidays (probably because he is single).
Today......Christmas meal and gift opening at my house.....will start around 1:30. Ham, Mac/cheese.....etc. I over indulged last night so will try to control myself today. Made far too much fudge....even though I haven't eaten a whole piece, I have nibbled as I cut the pieces.
Should be cooler here today.......high around 68 or so. Will expect 12 I think for lunch/dinner.
Have a wonderful Christmas for those who celebrate.

Merry Christmas, BAM!!! Caryn..thanks for starting us out on another chapter!! Happy your Chranakuh was great! Nice that the dogs are getting along, too Patsy..great to hear that NSDS was discharged from the hospital. And DDIL can gt home in time to go to work. I was here earlier while I was trying not to make noise and keep Meg quiet (good luck with that!!) and waiting for DGD Leonora to wake up and find her presents from Santa. No chapter so was happy to come back and see Caryn had started us out. No news here so far, the day is just getting underway here. Have a Merry time with your families!! Khalua

Merry Christmas!!
From my house to yours wishing you a wonderful day - we are of different faiths but such good friends that I want to wish each of you a special day, filled with much love and your family and friends.
Many of us had a big celebration yesterday, today - for DH and me - it’s all over. Everyone has gone home and DH is napping. Pepper is glad to be out of the bedroom and went outside even tho’ it’s only 10* out. The sun is shining and she will come back when she feels like it. I have lots of leftovers and plan that we will pick something - for me it will be green beans and salmon, not sure what DH will want.
Yesterday was super busy and DGD decided to leave early to go celebrate with her boyfriends family. We were sorry about it because it is possibly the last time to have b oth DGKs together - DGSon will leave for the Air Force Feb. 6th, so who knows where he will be a year from now. However we made the best of it and sent her off with lots of hugs. Turns out that was a good thing, DGD was telling DSGD about the calls between DGD & her mother, as her mother (of course) wanted her to go with DBF and skip having Christmas with us, she told DGD that when she was ‘married to that man’ it always had to be *our* way. Of course not how we remember it, but hopefully at 17 DGD does ‘get it’ that we love her and want to spend time with her, but allowing her to make her own decision seems to be the right one.
Everyone does WAY too much in the gift giving dept. DDer got her dad and I tickets to see *Hamilton’ when it’s in Des Moines this summer, I was SO excited. Never even imagined I would get to see it, I know the tickets were way too much, but bless their hearts for doing this.
The other small bombshell came as we were going around the table telling our ‘top memory of 2017’ something that has been a wonderful tradition for us - DH said how much he enjoyed going back to work this spring (remember he couldn’t work in the fall of ‘16 because of his back surgery), and how he was so glad to go back this fall, how much he likes working there and the people he works with, but when the secretary wanted to set up a time for him to have his DOT physical, he told her ‘no’ he’s decided that he’s now 79 and wont’ come back. I was stunned - and frankly a bit peeved that he kept it to himself until we were all together.
Caryn - thanks for starting us off, great title and good thoughts as we finish out this year and think about next year. So gald the dogs are beginning to get along. We had 7 dogs and 10 people (until DGD left), then it was 7 dogs and only 9 people. Of course one dog is the new golden retriever puppy (about 4 months now) and DBIL’s new dog, who did great. She and the puppy could be sisters / mother and daughter they look so much alike and are so similar in color. They had a great time together too.
Patsy - so glad DSon got out of the hospital, clearly they should not have tried to come, but you can’t make other’s decisions for them.
Khlaua - what a scary thing for your DSon & family. it would be hard to decide now, but maybe it will be one more reason for them to rent and try ti out before buying and committing totally to moving.
Betty - glad the plans are coming together, and I’m excited for you to be on your way soon. Did you get snow too? We have a couple / three inches here.
Jeanne - enjoy your day with the family. (((HUGS))) on the year you had, and here’s hoping for better things for you and your DBro in the new year.
I’m going to take a break now and maybe close my eyes for a few mintues too.......

Had a mimosa party and a nap. Now have to get ready for the dinner at the campground. Not sure why my writing got smaller. Did the breakfast dishes and crockpot is soaking so I can clean out the meatball sauce. Just taking fancy cookies for dessert today.

Happy Holidays to all.

Peg...glad you had such a good time with your family! wow at the tickets DD gifted you with!! Awesome!’
RV.., sometimes on my phone the print on the posting screen is very tiny. I can barely read it!
DS, DDIL and Leonora went to the beach. Luiza didn’t want to go so stayed here with me. Around 3 we decided to go to Walgreens, the only place open just to get out of the house. Then we went hunting for a place to eat. 5 Guys’s site said they were open. Not. Neither was Lindburgers that said the same. We ended up in an Italian place only because DGD has eagle eyes and saw their printed sign “ open Xmas Day.” You'd never know by looking at the place that it was open. I’d never been there. Anyway, I had a small Ceasar salad and we ordered a medium pepperoni pizza. It was outstanding!! So good, but neither of us could eat more than 1 piece, it was so rich. So we brought the rest home. We stopped at Wendy’s and got Frosties. DS loves them and was here when we arrived, so I gave him mine. He hadn’t had one since he got here and was so happy and excited you’d think I’d given him a Porsche or something.. lol!
Golly, it’s not even 7 and I’m ready to crash! Knee did great today. Now it just bothers me instead of hurting and I’ll take it!!
Hope you all had a wonderful day

I’m back checking in - it’s so quiet here after all the hectic work of getting ready and all the company - it’s also bitter cold, and going to get worse. Our *high* ? Today might have made 10, but tomorrow’s probably won’t make it to double digits. We should not have to leave the house, although I’m thinking of checking to see what movies might be playing.
Khalua - nice to spend some one-on-one time with Luiza. Glad you found a place that was open and yum on the pizza. I did LOL at your DSon’s excitement at the Frosty from Wendy’s.
RV - I didn’t ever get my nap in today, wanted to do that but seemed to find little things that I wanted to get put away, or cleaned up, I’m sure the bed will feel really good tonight, and I’ve already turned on the electric blanket to have a nice warm bed to crawl into.
I would like to get the laundry started tomorrow, but it’s not good to do it when it’s bitter cold as it will sometimes (often) cause the air vent to freeze over and then we have an odor in the house since it can’t escape. I don’t have a good book right now, so might have to check overdrive to see what’s available there.

good evening all! We had a nice Christmas eve. This morning DH & I walked 3 miles (stopping at the diner for breakfast). I was thrilled this morning that the scale was the same as before I left for Pittsburgh. I had eggs with spinach this morning. At my in-laws I had two blueberry pancakes and a few cookies. For dinner at home DH & I had quinoa veggie soup and two slices of Stollen (a German Almond bread). We will have a cookie snack in a few while watching football.
I phoned DCrazySis today. When DSis phoned DM, all she did was complain about how lonely she was and what a carpy day she was having with no one to spend it with. I told my mom I would call DSis. Both my DM & I feel sorry for her but as I keep telling my Mom we are not responsible for DSis's happiness. Anyway, we had a nice long chat and she barely mentioned her loneliness. She did talk about her job and how she can't wait to be fired or quit. For now she is hanging in to get more from SS when she finally leaves. I did not tell her DS & DDIL will be in Florida. For now we are planning dinner on Tuesday and she thinks it is just with DH & me. She isn't sure how late she will have to work as they are changing her hours and she won't know until later this week what time she will be finished work - it may be as late as 8 PM. I may have to tell her about DS/DDIL being there if she tries to reschedule for later after DS/DDIL leave.
I have been working on school stuff (a surprise right?). I decided to go page by page of the old text with the new text and my notes to be sure I have everything. I have the first three chapters completely ready for the new semester (the notes have been updated or rewritten to cover new material, worksheets uploaded to Blackboard & on-line assignments loaded). I will work on the next chapter after I post. I did one load of laundry today. DS & DDIL are going to my in-laws to "play cards" but also share their news. I mentioned quietly to DSisIL she might want to stop over and she guessed it immediately - I shushed her and told her DS wants to tell his grandparents himself. I am walking in the morning and will do some school work until lunch time when I go to in-laws.
Peg - so DH announces in front of everyone he is retiring?
Khalua - happy dance the knee is doing well.
Caryn - Thank you for the new thread. I must have missed you getting a new pup. Give him a cuddle from me. I miss having a pet.
Patsy - I have been checking the weather forecast for next week when DS & DDIL will be in Florida with us - it will only be in the 60's but it will still be warmer than the 20's back home.
hi to Jimmy, RV, Gina, Betty, Luv, Patsy, Sharon, TL

Hi Peg... brrrr at your temps! An electric blanket warming the bed up sounds soooo good!! I hope you found a good book. The family just left to go see if a bowling alley/ theater complex in Delray Beach is open. They’ll either bowl or catch a movie. I’m done with believing websites saying they’re open on Xmas and they’re not, so stayed home. Also I’m tired, at least to tired to get dressed again, probably the carbs. Did I mention that place served the most delicious garlic rolls instead of the old run of the mill bread basket? Oh, my, they were sooo good!! This place called Dominic’s is right near Publix but I’d never been in there. Nice discovery.
Yes, it was great to have some one-on-one time with Luiza. I can’t believe how grown up she is at 13. From her conversation to her height. She’s taller than I am, maybe 5’4”. Very thoughtful, polite and helpful.
Waiting for the water heater to heat up so I can take a shower. Almost too tired for that..lol!
I think a cold front is on the way, maybe down to 60.. lol.. I know that cracks you all up. But a nice change here,
I’m babbling, so will hang up and call back later.. lol!

Hi, Bammies!
Not as cold here as Iowa, but a bitter stiff wind makes it hard to be outside
DBro1 was great - terrific food, good to catch up with 2 Dnephews and a Dniece .
Got home half hour ago. Work tomorrow and Thursday
Peg - great gift! Big surprise by DH too!
Khalua - good time with Luiza! Lol on the Wendy's. I don't think I've ever had one!
The mayo cake came out great. DH said he thought it was weird having mayo in the cake, but you wouldn't know if I didn't tell you. Great idea for nondairy cake - the frosting was good too. Nice substitute for buttercream, but probably not first choice if you can have dairy.
I left the uneaten cake at Bros. Don't know if they noticed until after we left. He he!

Today was so much fun. I ate really carefully and kept within the day's allotted points. Yay. Skipped the bagels at brunch. I made the dinner so most was 0 points, except for the ziti and the cookies I ate for dessert. Don't mention wine. and a bit of movie popcorn.
The dogs all got along well, even DD's puppy. We had only one "incident" between the puppy and an old big dog, but it was over in an instant. We saw Star Wars (again) and I liked it even more this time. I caught some subtleties I missed the first time around. DH and I got a great joint gift: a gift certificate at a local concert venue. I'll subscribe to their newsletters and try to pick a great group.
It sounds like everyone had a really nice day. I'll CU tomorrow.

Sounds like everyone had a great time with family as did we. DNephews DGF included a DF joining us, very nice gal. Dnieces DFIL also joined us as he also did for Thanksgiving. So glad they feel welcome and comfortable. We played Bunko and each time someone yelled Bunko, DGD would yell Bingo! Everyone had a great time.
I'm beat after helping get everything back in order and dropping items off to those who'd forgotten things. I just want to go to bed. The slow cooker can soak til morning. Hope DH helps entertain DGD so I can get a couple of things done. Tomorrow night DSD will trim DHs locks and do a partial retouch on mine. I have enough potatoes leftover, I may cook a pork loin and we can provide dinner for them.
Yes, I over indulged today but tomorrow is another day and I know just a few days of holiday alone isn't what brought me to WW. Back to better choices tomorrow!
Time to prep the coffee and get to bed!

Good morning all, it is minus five this morning here. I need to find a box to send DDer’s hairbrush back to her - she did her hair in my bathroom yesterday morning and must have just set her brush down and then forgot it when she was packing. I also have that second pair of shoes to send back to Zappo’s - that was on DGD’s list, and I ordered one pair and then wasn’t sure if that was the right one, so ordered another that was about the same, only a little darker gray - of course it was the ones I didn’t wrap that she wanted. Glad I kept both and now the second one can go back. We have leftover frittata for breakfast and I’m planning to make some kind of soup today - I’m thinking it’s going to be chicken something for me, and I’ll see if I have enough potatoes to do a cheesy potato soup for DH.
Betty I’m sure these temps are making you wish you were already on your way. Brrrr.
Caryn it must feel so good to have the girls both back with you, wish I could hear the songs your family does. That sounds like so much fun. I know how much I enjoy our ‘top 10’ moments. We started it doing the ‘Top 10’ but it now is that each of us come up with three or more things to share. DDer got very emotional as she talked about missing her dad who passed this year. So glad the dogs are doing well together, I did wonder how your little dogs would do because of that time when they were attacked, but it seems that the puppy is going to be fine with them. I’ve told you before about the big (huge!) Greater Swiss Mountain dog of DSon’s and his gentle way with his ‘sister’ the 10# schnauzer, it’s so cute to watch them play together.
Khalua did the family find something open that they could do, usually the movie places are open on Christmas afternoon. Hope they found something. It will help me today to make soup and clean up the last of the chaos.
Allison glad you called DSis, and yes, she is her own worst enemy, but it’s not something they can understand. I think our XDIL is, and always will be, looking for something she won’t find, someone to make her happy. I loved your news and the excitement of looking forward to a new addition in the new year. Yes, DH told us as we went around the table when we were all together (well, except for DGD). When I asked him about it, he grinned and said he wanted to surprise me, well he did that for sure.
Hi to Patsy, Gina, Luv and all who follow today, hope you had a good holiday and are ready for the end of the year.

A quick good morning. I will be leaving shortly for the gym to take Miracle plus a 30 min spin class. I'm making up for them being closed yesterday and for tomorrow which I'll miss because a neighbor's throwing a party at just the wrong time. I need to order my new cell phone case - boy my new iPhone is slippery! I found the exact one I have on my old iPhone 5, which I like a lot. I had to laugh because I thought the maker was usbicls and couldn't find it. Once I saw the same model on Amazon, I realized I was holding the phone upside down! The company is "spigen". hahahahaha for me.
Breakfast was leftover "egg bake" which is eggs, chili's, cottage cheese and another shredded cheese (?) baked. It's a tradition yesterday's family makes each year. It's 2 points for 2 little squares. Unfortunately, I'm still hungry and I won't be back here until 1-1:30.
Peg - it's cold here too (22*) but not minus 5! Brrr. You had leftover eggs for breakfast too :-). I like your Top 10 idea, even if your DD had an emotional moment.
I'll BBL with more personals.

Peg - It's going to be really cold our first night on the road so my thoughts are leaning towards a motel our first night and then staying in the camper the second night! DH I suspect will be open to that idea. Happy for your DH with his full retirement, but what a surprise for you. You can really enjoy long periods at the camper this summer! Smart gal keeping both pairs of shoes!
Caryn - You are really dedicated to your exercise! Good for you. Sorry about breakfast leaving you hungry.
I feel beat today, probably partially from all the poor food options I enjoyed yesterday. Today I'll pay for it and need to drink extra water.

Morning chicas!
Caryn..I got a hoot out of you reading the phone case upside down..lol! Sounds like something I would do! Glad you found one that would fit your new phone.
Jeanne..Frostys are delicious. Like soft serve ice cream. They give them to you with a straw and a spoon. Forget the straw..they're too thick. But, as I recall one large would cost you a whole weekly points allowance. Sobering..
Peg..golly, that it COLD!! Dang!! No cold front here, it's 77 right now. The place the kids went to was open. They bowled and then came home.
Betty..I hope you have a minute to catch your breath, although that seems unlikely! LOL at DGD yelling "Bingo"!!
I've been up forever and the kids are just waking up. I thought they were leaving today, but found it's tomorrow. Yippee, an extra day!!
Okay, gotta go. BBL when I can! Happy Tuesday to all!

Good afternoon. I walked 3.8 miles at 8. when DS came over to lift, DDIL came with him and wanted to walk so I did another 4.2 miles with her. I am close to 20,000 steps - maybe I an have an extra cookie -tehehe. I did finish another chapter this morning and will start the next one after lunch. I am waiting to go to MILs - DS will text when they are leaving her parents to go over.
Peg - holy jamoley that's cold!
Betty - I like the idea of a hotel the first night out too - hope your DH agrees.
Khalua - have fun with your bonus day with family.
bbl - the books await...

Lunch is over and it was good to get back to my kind of food - chicken and rice soup hit the spot. DH is now napping (common after lunch for him and the dog).
Luv I know what you mean, I had to take a shower yesterday afternoon to start to feel human again, today I’ve been clearing the last of the clutter / paper, and boxed up the hair brush that DDer left here and decided to make the trip to the PO to get it returned. It felt good to get out even tho’ the temp was only 5*, at least it was on the positive side. I remembered I wanted to work on a baby blanket so I’m going to go down and find the material for that and get it started, it will be good for me to do something constructive.
Allison well, that sure gets you back on the right track. Whew on all that walking, but GFY,
Khalua yeah for one more day than you thought. It was probably good for them to bowl instead of just sitting in a movie. I looked at the movies playing in town and nothing looks good, so we won’t be venturing out for that. I wouldn’t mind going as the garage is heated so getting in the car here wouldn’t be a problem, getting in it after sitting for two hours at the movie would be a whole other story. It must not be too bad in the sun as Pepper went out an hour or so ago and DH tried to let her in before he went off to nap, and she decided to stay out. I’m sure sitting in the sun out of the wind it isn’t too terrible.
Betty that seems like a good plan - to stay the first night in a motel, it will be a different trip pulling the camper, but I’ll bet you will love having your own space there this year, although you have gotten along well with the houses you have rented in the past.
Caryn OMGosh that’s the best story and made me LOL - glad you found a case you love, and that you got the phones changed. DDIL’s phone just died one day, she was able to retrieve her pictures and had her contacts through her work, but she lost all those strings of conversation on her messages, and at this time of year she especially missed them as many were ideas for Christmas.

Glad everyone had a fun day yesterday.
Caryn - your phone case story is hysterical!!
Betty - love DGD and bingo!!
Allison - have fun at the MILs - I'm sure they will be excited about the news!
Khalua - Hope the girls weren't too traumatized by the mall experience and they never have to witness it again.
At work trying to get stuff done so we can be off tomorrow. It's our 25th wedding anniversary. Have no plans, so better get my thinking cap on!

I'm back from my workout and stuff. Also did some grocery shopping. Came home and ate 3 chicken meatballs and some veggie sauce and 2 slices of ham. And iced tea. Now I need to shower.
Jeanne - sorry you have to work today. Happy anniversary tomorrow.
Peg - nice to straighten up the house after the weekend's celebration - as well as to get that hairbrush to the post office.
Luv -glad you had fun yesterday.
Allison - that's a lot of steps. My FB battery died and I haven't recharged it since Saturday. It's okay. I'm entering my APs manually.
Time for me to shower and get out of workout clothing.

DDIL’s BFF (who I absolutely abhor)invited us to lunch down in Miami. My knee came in handy as an excuse to weasel out of that. Happy to be home without that beoche anywhere near me. I’m washing their towels after doing a load of my laundry and after drying and folding a load DDIL forgot in the washer. I also did a “ let’s not get too carried away they're leaving tomorrow” clean up in their bathroom.
Jeanne... drat at having to work today, but yea for tomorrow off. Happy Anniversary tomorrow!!
Peg...nice that you got out and got the hairbrush on it’s way and off you list. Even with the sun 5 degrees sounds awful to me!!
Caryn.. glad you got your workout in.
Allison... wow at all those steps!!! You GO, girl!! Looks like you’re making great headway on the school work, too.
Forgot what else.
