Turning a heel is magical, isn’t it?? YES. It's amazing to me how stuff clicks now that totally baffled me last year. I watched a couple of sock tutorials a while back and was so confused and intimidated by turning the heel, but when I tried watching them again recently, I just thought, "Well, this looks easy!" It's been the same way with picking up stitches, M1s, and double knitting. I love it!

I want to knit Christmas stockings now!! Like I needed another project to add to the list, clcountry , thanks a lot! lol. Now I want to crochet Christmas stockings. I am about 1/3 of the way through joining my squares for my afghan. It’s going to fit my queen bed beautifully. I love it so much I may have to get a new bedroom set and repaint my bedroom to make it worthy of my creation😂😂😊

skipperdox, I'd totally get a new bedroom set for that blanket. It's absolutely stunning. A work of art.

I finished my Christmas stocking this morning, but the toe is really wonky, and I have no idea what I did wrong: I’m sad.

bonzee, I posted a picture of the toe. Do you need them of the whole stocking?

Okay, so it looks, from that picture, that your decreases are at the top and bottom of the toe, instead of the left and right side. Like perhaps your beginning of round was off.

bonzee , that was my first thought because when I fluff the toe the other way, it's the right shape (although there is a little extra puff to it), but then the stocking doesn't hang right. I looked at other projects on Ravelry, and it looks like their decreases are in the same place mine are, though. It *may* be a lefty/mirror knitting issue because I reversed the order of decreases, which is what I've always done in the past when SSK and K2TOG are both used in a pattern. I did that with the gusset decreases, and it worked fine, but I've never done kitchener before, so maybe it doesn't work when the end game is grafting two sides together vs. continuing in the round. ETA: I'm going to rip it out tonight and try again working the decreases as written. I was so proud of this project pre-toe; I have to at least try to get it right!

I was going to suggest an issue with the Kitchener stitch as well, but I have no idea how to correct it. The same thing happened with the first pair of socks I knit, and I have no idea how...

Walking60, I did wonder about that, because kitchener was not as easy as I thought it was going to be. That will be the next thing I try if fixing the decreases doesn't work!

Oh I bet you're right!! I bet you switched up your K2tog and SSK.

How do I figure out where the beginning/end of my round was once I rip back?

Honestly I would just pick a side to be your BOR, and then remember that k2tog is a right leaning decrease and ssk is a left leaning decrease.
so your toe will look like this / \

Okay, I actually just looked up a different, written tutorial on kitchener stitch, and I think THAT is the issue--because when I look at my toe, it's shaped the way it's supposed to be up until the bind-off.
Either way, I'm going to try to fix it, and I feel better knowing I have some things to attempt.

clcountry, it’s beautiful up to the wonky toe. I hope you can correct it to complete your beautiful work. And I really need to think about crocheting stockings this year. I’m still using my stocking with my cross-stitched monogram pre-divorce. I just keep adding projects waiting in the wings. I think I will be able to finish my afghan this weekend. There are 11 rows in the border, so I still have about 8,000 stitches to go.

I hope you can correct it to complete your beautiful work. Me too! It's quite frustrating because I'm ready to move on to something new! I can't wait to see your afghan all finished; it's going to be beautiful.

Well, it’s better. Still not good, but I don’t have the patience to do it again. It’s definitely an issue with Kitchener stitch.
