clcountry, I am a slow crocheter for that reason. Many mistakes. It’s so frustrating, skipperdox! I want to knit so much; it’s annoying to have to do things over because of mistakes, especially when the issues with my hands already mean I can’t knit as much as I want to!

I had a very productive knitting weekend over Thanksgiving break—I restarted and finished the hat and got a little over 2/3 of the way finished with the matching scarf. Here’s the hat:

skipperdox, it is! These pieces are a Christmas gift for my cousin, and I can't wait to give them to her.

I finished the scarf that goes with my cousin’s hat last night! I’m very pleased with it. Fringe is a bitch, though!

I just finished a Puerto Rican flag as a commissioned piece for a friend, but my tapatalk is being wonky. When I get the chance, I’ll post it.

So I decided to treat myself to some nice yarn in order to make this hat, which I think is absolutely stunning: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/montmartre-slouchIt got here on Tuesday, and since then it's like I'm a total knitting newbie all over again. First, even though the hank was packaged beautifully and not tangled in the least, I somehow managed to screw up winding it into a cake. I had to cut the yarn like three times, and ruined my ball winder in the process. I'm still not sure how I managed it. Then, my cast on kept being wonky, so I had to redo it a couple of times. Once I finally started knitting, I got to the end of the first round and realized I had cast on one too few stitches. Rip back and redo. The next time, I thought I had gotten my stitches twisted, and in trying to fix it, I somehow lost a stitch. Rip back and redo. The third time, I was starting round three, the last of the set up rounds! Got a few stitches in and realized I had somehow messed up and was now purling my knits and knitting my purls. Rip back, throw everything on my coffee table in disgust, and decide to try again later. I mean, COME ON. Casting on, knitting in the round, k1p1 ribbing--none of this is new to me! I've done every bit of it before! I don't know why I'm struggling so much, but I hope it goes better when I try again!

clcountry, that project needs to be in time out for a bit. I'm sorry it was such a pain to wind. I have a decent swift and a nice ball winder and I still have problem skeins at times. skipperdox, I saw this on your IG and it.is.stunning. I hope your friend absolutely loves it!!

I’ve had to do that before when starting the yoke of a sweater and it’s so frustrating!! I agree with Bonz... walk away for a few days.

clcountry, I know what you mean about starting on the wrong foot. You need a palate cleanser project. Something super easy and fun that you can complete before returning to your new yarn. I have been dying to visit the little yarn shop not far from my house, but I have so much yarn and so many projects going, that I really don’t need to go there.

Yeah, I'm also working on a very simple baby blanket for a former student who's pregnant with her second. Going to go back to that for a day or two before I try my hat again!

I started a different hat last night, this one for my BF, and ended up having to rip it back too, 8 rounds in! What is going on with me?!
I will say, though, I HATED working on this pattern and am going to use having to rip back as an excuse to choose a different one. This had lots of PW yarnovers that then had to be knitted together with the stitches next to them on the next round, and they were so awkward and unfun to work.

clcountry, I’m in a couple crochet facebook groups and we say, “this yarn didn’t want to be [this thing], so I frogged and made...”

I finished my first project with a cable, and I absolutely adore everything about it. Also, I’m in danger of becoming obsessed with hat knitting.

clcountry, I love hats because they are the perfect size project for my short attention span. They are finished before I have time to get sick of them! Great job with the cables.
