Howdy!
I got the garden plot dug up, smoothed out, mulched, and replanted yesterday. Now we need some rain.
I’m really eager to see how the election turns out. I fear that there will be unpleasant and unlawful actions by Trump and his idiot cult before the day is out.
On that happy note 😁, have a great day!

Greetings!
3 more weeks and then it will be the start of Thanksgiving week. 4 more lectures to prepare. I'm so ready to be done.
Productive day on campus after a good workout at the fitness center. I woke up to the sound of rain this morning. It was dry yesterday as the system took longer to move in than predicted. I think it will be a wet week, which is good.
Have a great day!

Good morning!
I didn't take my computer with me, so I didn't post. Our school lost the game Saturday. It was a heartbreaking loss for them. We still have two more games and a chance to get into the playoffs, but there are a lot of moving parts for that to happen.
We are out tomorrow for Election Day. The seniors have decided to have a skip day today and I imagine there will be several other students who will extend their weekends by a couple of days. To be honest, that is fine with me.
College basketball starts today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That will keep my mind off of the election.
I get to go get started on my new crown for my tooth today. Blech! I have put it off as long as possible and need to get it done. I just hate going through dentutorture.
I hope you all have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies: I will be very glad to have the election over. However, I am very afraid of what will happen tomorrow and after. I hope everyone stays safe. Reds are popping up around me in surprising places. Yesterday was a lovely waste of time. I did not do anything, I did not accomplish a thing other than rest and relaxation and dog walks. I will get on it all today!!!

Morning.
I walked in the office to relieve New Girl. So 2.5 hours later I'm able to check in here. Ugh. My boss called in a van to assist with some of the fallout.
MG paid YMV to move the pots that were on my puttery list. There were a couple of pots that he missed, but the bulk of them are out of the yard.
Last night was yoga and it was so needed. We hadn't been able to get together for so many weeks in a row that everyone that could make it was looking forward to it.

Howdy! A fun fact related to newmoose’s dentorture: The 3-D printer used to make dental crowns costs around $110,000. Or they did a few years ago when I worked for a company that operated clinics for the medically underserved. We use 3-D printers at my current job to make gears and related doo-dads that we do research on. It’s amazing what those things can do. I’m working from home today so I can take Mom to a doctor appointment. Yay for working from home! Bossman was in the office yesterday but is traveling again today. I would hate to travel as much as he does. Have a great day!

Greetings!
I'm staying off of FB and any news-related sites for the next couple of days. It isn't good for my blood pressure or my mental health to see some of the crap that is being spewed. I swear the chemicals that are in our environment and water supplies have damaged the brains of millions.
Less than 3 weeks and I'm on my Thanksgiving break. 3 lectures and 2 exams left for the medical terminology course. The student who never showed up for the exams did end up dropping the course.
3 more lab setups after tonight, 4 more lectures to prepare and 2 sets of exams for the A&P class. Only 1 of the students who should have dropped the course actually did. The other 2 are still enrolled but only 1 of them randomly comes to class. 2 of my good students were out sick yesterday.
I'm still trying to get the old insurance policy cancelled on the rental property. The agent never responded to any communications. I called the headquarters yesterday and have opened up a case to get the policy cancelled and my unused premium refunded. What a pain.
I hope tomorrow is a bright new day filled with hope.

Morning
Yesterday was rainy and lazy again. YF went to St Louis and CSO has been feeling puny this last week. G is still recovering from her half marathon last weekend. MG went to Manhattan to buy ammo (he likes to celebrate by making noise). YMV & I made pork katsu sandos (fried pork cutlet sandwiches) for dinner last night. And I walked into a peaceful morning.
MG & I will go vote after I get off work. Our local Dem crew is having a get-together at a friend's house, and I've been recruited to ensure that everyone is introduced. I hedged and told Linda that I would probably make an appearance, but we all know that there will be no winner tonight. I figure by 9pm local the polls will have all closed and we should know the results of local elections as well as an idea of what the national will look like. We don't have much of any hope that our local people will bear out and in fact there were very few seats that were challenged locally on either side. I just hope it isn't a 2016. I remember that hope and crash.

Good afternoon!
I lazed a bit this morning and then went to the chiropractor. Coincidentally, I tweaked my back this morning, so I something to really work on. After that, I went to the optometrist to have my glasses exchanged. I am still wearing an old prescription because I could never get the new ones to work correctly. They got a different frame that should work better.
DH went to NC to get a golf cart that he bought. I hope he is home soon so we can go do something fun today. Until then I am watching junk TV and playing games on my computer.
ETA: The dentutorture went really well. The crown was made in 40 minutes and I was in and out in an hour and a half. It wasn't bad at all.
I hope you all have a great day!

Glad I have all of you, my dear friends.

I am absolutely shocked.
Seriously, are we all missing something? How can so many people look past his lies and idiocy and think he will be a good president? I honestly can’t think of one positive attribute.
Pfffft.
It’s going to be a long day. I woke up around midnight and looked at the results. Then laid there until 2 worrying. Then read a lot of news.
Let’s make the best of it. I guess. Seriously, I’m absolutely stunned.

Not stunned. Well, maybe a bit shell shocked. YMV was up to greet me before I left for work this morning. He is down about it.
Now to roll up our sleeves and get to work. Again.

I was literally sick to my stomach all night. I cannot believe we have to go through this again. I will stay in my insular cocoon and hide away for now.
The happy things I can take from this is VA is still blue for the most part. Not my section of the state, but still.
I am testing a student today which will keep my mind occupied.
In the words of a very wise friend of mine, who is a professional counselor: "Feel what you're feeling. That's how grief works. Denial, anger, sadness, rage, numbness, whatever. Reach out. Be with people. Begin drawing on your deepest spirit resources. We need you for the days ahead."
Take care of yourselves.

Happy Friday Eve! 3 weeks from today is Thanksgiving. My new insurance agent got the cancellation issue resolved with the old company yesterday. Never heard anything from the old agent. I'm very happy with the customer service and timely responses from the new guy. Bonus is saving money. I got my annual distribution from the IRA I inherited from my dad. So that is 3 positive things today. I just made donations to AP News and ProPublica as it seems like every other form of media these days is not only biased but full of flat out disinformation campaigns. The combination of people's attention spans greatly shrinking, the lack of ability to do any research, the rise of social media, and the lack of rigor in our education system is what I believe has helped us get to the mess that we are in. And probably the fluoride in the water - jk V Although I do believe that all the chemicals that we are exposed to is degrading our health and probably our mental function. With the billionaires running everything, I don't see anything changing in my lifetime. Saturday looks dry in Wisconsin so I'm going to head up and bushwhack in the woods to get the last of my property monitoring parcels wrapped up. I need to be away from people. I hope you are all okay. I'm glad we have our daily check ins. It is the one place free of trolls. I haven't been back on FB yet. I know that I have several acquaintances that are gloating over the turn of events.

Howdy!
I slept like a log last night after being awake so much the night before.
Lots of office drama yesterday. People who cry at the drop of a hat make for a bad day. I told Bossman that all I want in new employees is that they can hold their sh*t together for 9 hours in a row, 5 days a week without booze or tears. (We recently let someone go for drinking on the job, among other things.) He said our slogan for the upcoming company meeting is “HYST 9/5/52” — Hold Your Sh*t Together 9 hours a day, 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year. I told him I would have the crying lady order T-shirts.
I swear hiring is the hardest thing to get right. You never really know about a person until you’re around them for a while.
We’re supposed to get rain today and tomorrow, then the weekend will be sunny and cool. It’s a 3 day weekend, so yay!
Have a great day!

Good morning!
I still feel gut punched, but have moved onto the anger part of mourning. I am wearing Toms with The Avengers on them. It makes me feel less powerless. Tomorrow I will wear my Carolina Blue Chucks and look into ways to strengthen my resolve to keep people safe and fighting against this incoming administration. I am staying off of social media, except to wish people "Happy Birthday" on FB, and to check in on DS2.
We haven't even talked about GN. I don't know if we are even going out. All of us are likeminded and deeply hurt by the election results.
Another day of testing, so I don't have to go to my least favorite class.
I hope you all have a better day than yesterday.

Good Morning Ladies: Yesterday, I got a bit done and a bit not. Today is mid day doc for the lab results. Afterwards, I'd like to go see the Conclave by myself to get absorbed in "other" drama in peace and quiet. And I am planning some of the cheddar/caramel mixed popcorn as my reward....because who doesn't need one after the last month!

TGIF!
Ugh. It's been a week. As if there wasn't enough bad news, I got some updates on our office coordinator who had major surgery for reproductive cancer early in October. Turns out that they had to not only do a total hysterectomy, but also had to take out part of her liver and colon as well as some other supportive tissue in the abdominal cavity. In other words, the cancer had metastasized. She will be starting chemotherapy soon. Not sure if or when she will return to work. Her short term disability runs out soon but we do have long term disability coverage. But it sounded from the second-hand information that I got that she is worried that the coverage won't be enough to cover her living expenses. She is 72.
My student who has been helping me with my course has not been showing up consistently the past couple of weeks. Didn't come to lab until 10am on Wednesday, even though it starts at 9:30am. She never was the most on time student, but it has gotten worse. I know her workload for her other classes is increasing but she has stopped texting me to let me know she will be late or absent. I miss the student I had in the spring, Erin, she was amazing and obviously spoiled me with her work ethic.
I slept like crap again last night. I had the realization that while the pendulum swings back and forth in this country politically over the ages, that is very unlikely I will see a return to the way things were in my formative decades. That is a really depressing thought.
Eeyore signing off now.

Howdy! sherrydorlando2, did you see “Conclave”? That looks like a good movie. I may see it over the weekend. I am absolutely peopled out. We’ve got the Veterans Day lunch today, so I need to force myself to be a little more perky. I’ve also got a boatload of work to do today. Fun! 🥸 I don’t have any big plans for the weekend, other than seeing a movie. I really want to sit quietly and do absolutely nothing for a while. Have a great day!

Good morning!
Vent coming, feel free to skip:
I am so over this week myself. On top of all the angst about the election, DH put me on the hot seat about Thanksgiving. I REALLY want to stay here for the night before and go to Thankspicking--a tradition that DS1's band started many years ago. Everyone meets at the brewery to listen to music, have a beer, and share some food and fellowship. We hoped to meet DH's sister and her husband in Greenville, SC to share the day and enjoy each other's company. They cannot do that because a friend of theirs passed away and something about his service. (No idea why Thanksgiving would be a problem, but...) They asked DH if we would like to come to their house and do Thanksgiving there. Without talking to me, DH told them that I "insisted" on staying for Thankspicking, so there was no way to do that. I could make a concession, again, to accommodate them. I told him to call them and tell them we would be there, but he said it was done and that I put him in the middle. I really want to tell him to eff all the way off and to not make me the bad guy here. We will talk more about this when we get home from work today.
We did go to GN last night. I needed to get out with them, but really wished it had been just WF and me.
Tonight is Carolina basketball against #1 Kansas. I hope it's a good game, but it's not going to be easy.
Tomorrow is the last home game for our alma mater. The weather is going to be perfect. There is a craft fair in the chapel, too, so that will be fun to browse through.
I hope you have a good day!

Good Morning Ladies: One last comment on the election. Biden pulled 57 percent of the women last time. Harris only got 53%.....I have friends in all walks of life; ages; ethnicities, economic situations.....at least 90-95 % of them were for her.....just so surprised he had a clear win. Off with the red hatters to day to Disney to see the Christmas decor, etc. lunch at The Yacht Club, a boat ride, a monorail ride, the Gingerbread house ;several massive hotels to check out their decor and then dessert somewhere. You can do the entire tour on the perimeter of Disney with no admission ticket. Lots of fun for Christmas. Yesterday I took 3 DGK's and DD to late lunch to celebrate Zacks situation improving and safer. He will be doing homeschool and will be at my house; his other grandma's; his moms and even his aunts sometimes with his brother and can help with the horses. I felt it was the best choice.

Hello weekend! Heading up to Wisconsin today to finish up my property monitoring. It will be good to be outside and away from the computer. I got the official email back from the old insurance company that my policy has been cancelled as of 11/1. Now to wait for the refund check. I ordered a refurbished MacMini yesterday to replace my old one that is incredibly slow. I had been thinking about it for awhile and now with tariffs coming, it was a good time to act. I stress ate less yesterday than the previous 4 days so that is a positive. Still need to figure out better ways to handle my anxiety over the impending hell that is coming with the change in administration. A political analyst I follow compiled the 93 campaign promises that were made and captured on video from the rallies. Some are absolutely horrifying, some are fairly innocuous, and then there was the claim that social security benefits wouldn't be taxed. That would benefit us, but I don't see that happening. pepper - I saw that video from the Veteran's luncheon you hosted! That was great and the brisket looked amazing! You looked great too!

Howdy!
The Veterans Day event turned out really well. And there was enough food that almost everyone got leftovers to take home.
I worked late last night to finish a project so I don’t have to think about it over the weekend. That messed up my 30 Day Challenge of playing violin every day. I’ll have to do 2 sessions today. My day today will be quiet and slow. Maybe I’ll go see Conclave. It’s so seldom that there are good grown-up movies that I want to take advantage of the opportunity. And movie popcorn. 😁
Elon Musk’s creepy brother is opening a restaurant here. 🤮 He was linked with Jeffrey Epstein.
It’s nice and cool here and should be in the mid 70s all day. Yay!
Have a great day!
