lani, they smelled good but I didn’t eat them. They are good. They are a fall staple around here as soon as the apples start being picked. Apparently the drought in the NE this year has made the apples ripen earlier.

SO wanted me to help him with some stuff he's doing in the basement. That ate up my exercise time. I had a lot of other stuff to do in the garden and cleaning upstairs so I was active but I didn't exercise

I was AWOl last week because I was volunteering at the county fair. So I was out early and exhausted when I got back. Mostly I made good choices - I took my lunch with me and tried to stay hydrated while masked. I mostly succeeded. I did get a milkshake from the 4H dairy barn one day - I allow myself one each year I volunteer. But it was so big that I felt queasy the rest of the day. I guess I will have to forego that in the future. Their milkshakes are legendary at the fair. No exercise except walking around the Wool Room and to and from the parking lot.
Back to the usual exercise, reading cards, etc. today.
I logged all the food every day last week but wasn't good about much except that and giving myself credit.

Not too bad yesterday. Mostly stuck to plan but I did have a mini ice cream bar at night. Exercised. However, I was pretty busy and forgot to read cards and was too tired to log food. I will do it today.

Yesterday my sister and cousin came for dinner. They'll do so again today before he flies home tomorrow. As a result we had dinner late. I planned to take the ice cream out (I hope this is the last time because my freezer is really full and I can use the space) but my sister said she was too full and would have it tonight. My cousin refused the sorbet I made for him (he's vegan) because he's also diabetic. So I had no temptation!

I've decided to give up on the no sugar thing till ice cream season is over. Once it is cooler, I don't usually want it. I'm eating it right after dinner so it doesn't trigger further snacking.
Last night, I had a bout of insomnia but I drank a big glass of seltzer and did some cleanup rather than reading and that really helped with not snacking.

till ice cream season is over Have you tried Rebel ice cream? It's very good and sweetened with Erythritol and Monk Fruit if you're going no sugar. It is very high calorie (cream) but a small serving is very satisfying. I keep to 45 grams/100 calories.

I’m trying to avoid sugar alcohols. I eat a mini Haagen Dazs bar - coffee almond crunch to be exact. I’ve decided that I’d rather eat (or avoid sweet things) sugar than go for the artificially sweetened stuff. I don’t count calories or points but focus on what I’m eating and whether it is good for me or not.
I had been reserving sweet things to be only eaten with home made high quality stuff but when its hot, I’m craving ice cream. These bars hit the spot for now. I’ll stop when it gets cooler.
I did end up walking up 17 floors yesterday doing things around the house too!

Didn't do so well on reading a card before eating. I am going to keep working on this and I think it is time I rewrote my ARC. I'll work on that today and over the weekend.
I saw two books on a comment thread on a site I read. I am reading the first one now. It is called The Hungry Brain by Stephen Guyenet. I used to read his blog because he is a researcher on obesity and neuroscience. I stopped because it got too technical for me. I'm glad to see he's written a book. it is pretty easy reading so far. The other book is by someone named Pontzer. Also on a similar topic.
