good morning. It was 40* for my walk. I'm still aching all over from all that walking in Paris and then a lot of sitting time (despite getting up every hour to walk) on both the plane and in the airport and then the drive home. Trying to stretch and move to un-do it all and of course Miracle Ball (which is kinesthetic, not stretching per se) helped.
Today D and I are headed out to Wegman's to get what we need for the Seder and also for our own meals. Plan to eat a lot of rice, bread and beans since as of Monday sundown, they're "forbidden". But who knows what will be this weekend.
Must call DMIL - she's not feeling well. Dizzy, headaches and her doc said she's "probably" okay (after examining her) but then she took herself to the emergency room on Wednesday night. In Canada, they use the emergency rooms more like walk-in clinics and docs send patients there far more often than ours. Of course, it's all covered by national insurance. Their system is really different than ours and sometimes very "foreign" (lol) to me.
Peg - oh nice that DH's DB will come to be with DBIL on Monday. Who's coming to stay with you?
Allison - nice to get new rugs to go with your new floors! And glad you fixed your TV remote.
Jeanne - I think you deserve a medal for buying less than $200 at Costco hahaha. I think that's near impossible.
Nancy - I hope you can have a relaxing weekend. You guys deserve some time off.
Betty - I love hearing about DH's paintings and how he's keeping it up even back at home. I hope one day my DH finds himself a hobby, once he really retires.
That's all for now. Will clear my inbox and then head to the living room to walk again. Maybe today I can make it through the 2 miles? We'll see. TTFN

What a whirlwind start to our day! I realized last night I didn't have things for DGD to take for a lunch today so first instinct was to run to the store and get that covered but everyone convinced me to wait then this morning DGD realized she didn't have the right pants she wanted for school today since they "won" a day of pj's and forts. She wanted sweat pants and all they put in her bag was jeans so I ran to the house and found a pair but didn't realize they were the too short ones! Also ran to the store and picked up something for her lunch, back to find the pants weren't right and a made rush to get the lunch together then she had a too large blanket for a fort which she didn't want to have to tote to school and insisted we could try to get it in her backpack. No way! She ended up carrying the tote with blanket and wearing the jeans. Ugh, sometimes life just throws you a curve and you have to go with it. I told DH I knew I should have prepared last night and he now agreed! Oh well, she was a little later getting to school but that just meant she didn't need to deal with the blanket in tote quite as long.
We did have a really nice time with her last night though. She wanted to put a puzzle together followed by playing a game of go fish and ending the night with another larger puzzle (which is still waiting to be finished).
Rather than continue on this path of not planning far enough ahead, I think I'll get the bed made, put the few dry dishes away, shower and head to Janesville early. That will leave plenty of time to work in that pedicure and get the couple of errands run before returning home to mow the grass should it be dry enough to do so. I just asked DH if the batteries are charged for the trimmer so I can get the trimming done as well! I'll be fairly busy today I think but will enjoy my efforts for the rest of the weekend.

Good morning - back from a 3.5 mile walk. It was chilly - I wore a hooded fleece and had stretchy gloves.
Peg -yes, I judged the last 4 applicants in my list. There was one student I wish I could have scored higher but her recommendation did not fit the grading rubric.
Caryn - nice page turn. It was 45* when I left for my walk and is now 46*. Glad I wore my sweatpants.
Betty - sorry you had to runaround so much. Hope you relax during your pedi.
I need to finish organizing my clothes for tomorrow and do my puzzles. We are getting picked up at 2 to head to Philly.

Caryn - I’m hosting my siblings, plus a cousin & his SO on Sunday. We are together to celebrate my sister & brother’s birthdays, both are 4/24, DSis will be 75 & DBro will be 70 that day. We are doing it on Sunday to, hopefully, include my cousin, he is a funeral director and we hope for no funerals that day. He does have staff to do them, but he is usually there too. We’ll see. Anyway either 7 or 9 of us for dinner that day, planned for 1:00.
Betty - ugh on the frenzied start to your, and DGD’s morning. Hope the day goes better, enjoy the pedi. Sometimes I feel like I get my money’s worth, last time I felt like he rushed (even tho I had an appointment) and didn’t take any extra time, but I am glad I had it done. Next time might be just before the wedding on 6/01?

Caryn, glad the stretching and Miracle Ball helped. LOL at coming out of Costco under $200! You are so right! The last time I went, I didn't know how to find my credit I'd earned but have it figured out now so will use it on the next trip, and then there's the extra tidbit I've earned they sent me a Reward Certificate for for a whopping $4.49? Oh well, it will all spend just fine. Love everyone is getting set for Seder with the planning and traditions. I hope DMIL is okay, one sometimes knows their own body better than the doctors so I'm glad she's listening to hers.
Allison, I was just wondering about the rugs if you were to sell your house. They would be too nice to just leave so it will be great you have places to use them. Which reminds me, has DH and his DSis done anything more about DFIL/DMILs house? I suspect everything came to a standstill for awhile there so all the contents still need to be handled before it can be sold as well.
Peg, so nice DBIL will have someone staying the night to take him for his procedure and you can rest at ease! It can go back to warming up again anytime now! How great the clock is working again and I'd love those German restaurants! One day I'd like to go to the Amana Colonies! I need to check that out.
I should go back to do more personals but forgive me...I'm going to get moving to turn this day around!

Betty - DH & DSIL have not done anything to get my in-laws house ready to sell but we will get working on getting rid of the clothes in the new few weeks. We will be in PA for all of May and hope to get everything organized. We want the grandchildren to come get things they want to keep. But that could also be done once the house is listed. The new rugs are 10x14 and 8x10. If they are not needed in Pittsburgh we will use the larger one in our Florida living room and move the one that is there to the bedroom. Who knows, I may need it Pittsburgh or one of the DS's may need one or both.

I'm back. I decided to do a yoga stretch instead of walking and I truly think it was the right decision. I'll probably do it again tomorrow. Then I spoke with DMIL. She's okay and had a very solid night's sleep. Yesterday she'd mentioned that she having difficulty seeing but her ophthalmologist couldn't see her until July. I told her to call and tell them she's having headaches and vision problems (as opposed to an annual checkup) and she has an appointment for Monday. Yay. Well yesterday at my ophthalmologist, I learned that I'm going to have to have a common procedure (common after cataract surgery) within the next year because sometimes the tissue behind the replaced lens goes cloudy. It sounds like DMIL is having those exact problems. Doc told me it would be like I'm seeing through plastic wrap at first, later through wax paper. They fix this with in in-office laser procedure that takes all of 10 minutes. So watch out for this, my friends. Anyway, DMIL will learn more next week and hopefully her doc will fix it.
Betty - I'm exhausted just reading about your morning!

In the car on the way to the casino. Been over 6 months DH decided we needed the day off.
Caryn. We both have had the laser surgery after the cataract surgery. Piece of cake.
Peg. Enjoy your family.
Allison. Have we seen your rugs?
Betty. Can't keep up with you. Someday that energy will fade and you'll be like the rest of us.

I think I’m done for the day. DH is still out mowing, but me…. Just pretty much outta here with the prep for Sunday. I have all day tomorrow, and I think the main thing left is windows.
I’m no where near as ambitious as Betty, and I tire much more easily. But the list is checked off, although come to think of it, I might go get that birthday card, some milk and maybe order a pizza for us for tonight.
Glad to finish with the floors, I do have bathroom rugs in the washer, so will get those put in the dryer and maybe I’ll read, or do more puzzles, I’m way behind on the ones in the paper this week.
So…. There you have it, all boring everyday kinds of things happening here in central Iowa.

Hi! Back after running around. Walk at the mall, windy, then Costco - again!- and Home Depot, then the supermarket and wine store. Im Over 8k steps even with a short Scruffy walk.
Went back to Costco to pick up hosta they had. BTW, the 2 visits still don’t add up to $200! But Home Depot was $50.
Peg - sounds like a fun get together! Hope the weather is good.
Nancy - hope you remembered Lady Luck!
Betty - wow! That is some hectic morning!
Allison - nice rug! That could fit in almost anywhere.
Caryn - glad you’ve recovered from our Paris walking.

Allison - Like the rugs and look like they won't show much sand or dirt.
Was ahead so thought I'd give the casino at 25.00 tip. HAHA. Had a fun day and DH seemed to do well also. He had his walker with him. Still trying to figure out all the little stuff on Waze.
It's 20 degrees cooler today than yesterday and I am freezing cold and it is so gray outside. Yucky.
ok - Need to figure out something for dinner.

Well Wegmans didn't have the pickles or the horseradish we need for the Seder meal, so we went to Stop & Shop in town - got everything. Put it away. Whew. Tomorrow I'll start cooking, Sunday and Monday more (most of it). Wegman's had everything else on our list.
Nancy - good to know someone who also needed that laser thingy. The rugs Allison got are great - washable in a washing machine. I have 3 of them. They come in 2 pieces: the bottom has velcro to keep the top in place and you can wash the top. Clever idea, no? Sorry you lost $ today, and that you're chilly.
Allison - nice pattern on that rug.
Jeanne - wish I could safely plant hosta - the deer love love them. I do spray but eh - so this year I'm trying Milorganite, which is a compost like substance. A garden expert recommended it.
The 1's landed and are heading to Brooklyn to pick up their car at the brownstone they rent and then heading up to Ellenville to say hi to their dogs. I'll see them all (dogs too) at the Seder. D and I got lobster mac n cheese for dinner. I need to go pre-heat the oven to warm it up.

Oh, yum to Caryn’s dinner, but ours was good too. I went to the little town where we buy milk, got that, then a stop and $ General - so happy to have that store so close - for a sister b’day card, and some laundry soap, then to Casey’s (Betty probably knows Casey’s) for a thin crust pepperoni & mushroom pizza. Saw a friend there, and me with bad hair and no makeup, but oh well.
DH had picked up Foster’s beer when he was in town the other day. It’s his favorite and usually the reason he wants to go to Outback, but the last two times we have been there they didn’t have any. He was thrilled to get it the other day when he picked up his script. We shared the beer as it’s a 24 oz can!! Anyway, nice Friday evening here, while it’s still not warm and won’t be early tomorrow, I will get the most important windows washed, will check the tablecloth to see if I need to iron it, want to set the table early on Sunday morning.
I can’t even tell you what a relief it is to know our other DB&SIL are coming to be with DBIL for his procedure, along with their sister. I can just concentrate on the meal for my family, so appreciate them, as it’s a 5-6 hour drive for them.
Caryn - glad you found what you needed, you will have lots more to prepare for than I do on Sunday. I used to do it without too much trouble, but know it’s harder for me than it used to be. However, if I get some of it out of the way tomorrow, I should be good on Sunday.
RV - well, only $25 for a fun outing doesn’t seem too bad. Glad DH can get around even if he does have to use a walker to make it happen. We are cold too, but the sunshine makes such a big difference.
Jeanne - oh I wish we were closer, I have hostas that need to be divided and replanted. I got them from my sis several years ago and they are getting out of control. Should figure out a place to replant some of them.
I had an odd thing happen with my IWatch today. When I got up it showed I had 2 times of ‘stands’ last night, one between midnight & 1 am, and the other between 1 &2 am. I do NOT remember getting out of bed until nearly 3:00 to use the bathroom, so I’m flummoxed at how it could show I was moving enough to record a ‘stand’ during those hours. As far as I know I’ve never been one to sleep walk, but it does make me wonder……

Peg - oh thank you for thinking of me with the hosta. My big problem is my DH who doesn’t believe you can split hosta! So, for the spots he is most interested in, I bought new. For the one spot I want to work on, I will split ones I already have.
Nancy - sounds like fun even if you had to leave a tip.
Caryn yum! Love lobster Mac and cheese!
We had Italian takeout - I had baked ziti - have 2/3rds left! - and he had meatballs and spaghetti, all gone!
Yankees are on, no score in the 4th inning.
Have fun and see you all mañana!

Finally got here today. Spent most of the day cooking and preparing for our trip to see the kids for the seder. I made a spinach-potato dish for breakfasts, we can heat up in the hotel microwave. And I cooked a beef tongue for dinner because DH wanted it. And I cleaned and froze 1/2 flat of strawberries. I like to put frozen ones in my water. But I took a midday break to have a manicure. After which I booked appointments for manis, pedicure, facials and a massage...thru August. All wedding prep, LOL!
First time in many years that I am not cooking the entire seder. DH has one more dish he wants me to make and bring. And I want to bake some almond cookies. Those will be done on Sunday. We leave Monday and will be back on Wednesday.

Great time at the Phillies game tonight. We were in the front row right next to the Phillies dugout. They won 7-0. I had multiple layers and stayed warm through out the game. The only snafu was I carried my sweatshirt and gloves in a stretchy knit bag - the gal stopped me and told me the bag was not allowed and to put it in a locker across the street. I walked over but instead of paying $10 for a locker shoved it in my hoodie pocket and went to a different entrance. No problem getting in.
When back at our friends condo I saw a message our rugs gave shipped snd should be at the house on Monday!
Jeanne - our hostas spread like crazy. No problem digging them up and replanting in a different location.

Brrr, only 31* to start the day. Still things on the to-do list, but mostly cooking, so I’ll be playing in the kitchen most of the day.
Allison - the pictures from the ball park looked wonderful, glad you figured out a way to get the knit bag in. Good grief. But I guess that’s the way the world is now. Yay on the rugs coming.
Gina - how nice you will all be together for the seder. I’m planning to make scalloped potatoes for tomorrow. We made some for Easter that were really good, gotta see if DDer saved the recipe. Also going to make the rolls for tomorrow as well as an angel food cake. Once all that done, it will just be the beef and turkey breast, plus the green beans and make the salad. Should make things easier for tomorrow.
Jeanne - yum to your takeout. I did go to the little town and picked up a thin crust pizza. It was really good. We ate it all!! It was a small one, but still…..
Need more coffee, then will start the dough for the rolls. TTFN

Good morning! Rainy and cool this morning. Maybe we will walk later.
We have the gardener guy coming to price a job for us. DH won’t let me do it.
Allison - your photos of the game were great! So cool you had those seats!
Peg - yum! Miss pizza! DH says he’s been too naughty this week with having pasta 2x. His glucose # was a bit high today. So, I’ll have to figure out a better dinner for him.
Got to clean up the kitchen before this guy comes.

Doing a fly by check in but will have to come back to read and catch up with personals later! Had a fun time with Susan yesterday getting our pedicures and running errands then dinner as DH just met us. Went to DSD/DSIL's after to hang out.
I woke this morning to see my phone hadn't charged, got that going when the phone rang and with DH still sleeping I just hung it up. It was DDIL so called her back and was invited to go to a dinner and play at the Fireside today as her DSis is I'll and can't use her ticket so I need to get into a shower and meet her at her parents' place in Afton. I'll have something quick for breakfast, grab coffee to go after a shower and be off! Glad DH got the yard mowed yesterday while I was gone, it looks amazing, so plush and green.
Need to fly...BBL!

Good morning. As Jeanne said, it's rainy and cool. It'll clear later. I made D and I blueberry Kodiak pancakes, with sliced bananas and real maple syrup for breakfast. Trying to get it all the leavened foods I can before the start of Passover.
Today I'm going upstairs to change our sheets and wash the dirty ones. I want to polish the silver serving things you put pyrex casseroles into as I'll do that for the kugel, roast chicken and the brisket. Hope I have enough of them. Need to look. Also will make the charoset (apples, walnuts, a bit of cinnamon and sweet Passover wine). Last year instead of chopping by hand, I used my Cuisinart. It was a good choice and I'll do that again. The 2's are dropping Oscar off - they are going to DSIL's parents home to (again) celebrate the mother's birthday. (Remember we went to her birthday party 2 weeks ago? So what's this about? DD is equally as skeptical LOL but it's a command performance for all the kids so they're driving to Long Island). We have the concert at 4, so will drop Oscar back at their house when we leave at about 3:15. And lastly I want to turn over the couch cushions.
Betty - I hate when our phones surprise us. Have fun today.
Jeanne - the gardener will be planting the hostas? or something else?
Peg - brrr indeed. When is the family coming? I know you have a lot to do.
Gina - how nice to have a Seder somewhere else. And how fun to anticipate the wedding!
Nancy - how are you guys doing today? Will you be able to relax this weekend?
Hello to Sharon and Khalua. Hope you are both doing well.

Caryn - we made raised beds in the back. With everything that gone on with us in the last few years, they’re a mess. I want them to dismantle them. I’m going to update one area where I have peony and roses with sedum and some the hosta that I’ll divide.
