Are you ready to Begin Again?
Are you a WW Lifetime Member who has gained back some weight and is trying to lose it again? Join us in this thread for support, encouragement and friendship. We start a new thread every Monday morning and contribute to it throughout the week. We are usually pretty active, so we should be near the top of the recent replies, if you can't find us enter "Beginning Again" in the search bar.
Everyone is welcome to join a wonderfully supportive group of new friends. We have a great community of support for returning Lifetime and Maintenance Members, as well as other members who are embarking on their weight loss journey again.
The Beginning Again thread on this Board and the old Weight Watcher board has attracted and supported over 100 BAM (Beginning Again Members) since March 30, 2001. The resulting sorority of kindred spirits has been vital to the recovery of dozens of Lifetime Members who had regained some, or all and then some of the weight they'd originally lost at WW.
It is our belief in the support and camaraderie found in the Beginning Again community that engendered the decision to re-post this invitation at the beginning of each week. So let the journey Begin – Again!

Good morning. Cold morning here too but it will warm to 60* later. I took a nice walk and then had my breakfast. I'm feeling lazy, which I can't afford LOL. I didn't make the kugel yesterday so that's #1 on my agenda. Also need to warm/cook my brisket and make the chicken; clean up the house; get the wine glasses onto the table (which I set last night); get the Seder plate done and get the appetizers ready. I also need to shower - decided to sweat in my kitchen and then clean up LOL. Guests are coming at 6 and the Seder will start at 6:45 to allow for stragglers, chatting and also organizing the food and dessert that everyone is bringing. The 1's decided they're too exhausted to drive for 4 hours today, so they're Zooming in, along with DB/DSIL who are now in Ft. Lauderdale getting their sailboat serviced, DMIL and the relatives in Toronto. I also texted with DSIL's DM Randi asking if she wanted to Zoom in. Haven't heard back from her but she's not a quick responder so not sure what her plans are.
Peg - thank you for the week's chapter.
Gina - I had a big belly laugh last night. Remember you warned me about putting a phone in my back pocket and worrying it might drop into the toilet? Well at about 9 last night, D called me from the bathroom - what is this? I'd forgotten that I'd put a small pink wallet into my back pocket when I went to the Earth Day event. And yup - there it was in our powder room toilet! He fished it out. I dried and used alcohol to disinfect my credit card. The wallet and money are drying on a rack. Then I'll clean the wallet with leather cleaner. Oh my oh my. You were so right! hahahahahahaha. Lesson learned.
I'm going to post this and check on that wallet. I'll BBL

I should be fully caffeinated by now!!
Yesterday was very good, I loved having everyone around the table sharing stories and laughter. The food came out well, even tho’ I forgot to make the salad!! I guess better not made than made and forgotten. I thought we would have a lot of leftovers, and while I do have some, they are manageable. That might be lunch today. Even without the salad there was plenty of food, I had put carrots in with the beef roast, and had green beans with onions and bacon, the scalloped potatoes, rolls, and turkey. The dessert of angel food cake, strawberries and cool whip went over well too. All in all, a very good day.
My sis & bro liked the wind spinners we got for their birthdays, and sis brought me a planter too. It’s from our favorite green house, and I know one of the plants is a moss rose. Not sure what the other flowering plant is, but it’s really pretty, I’ll enjoy it all summer.
This morning is laundry, and I’m going to mix up some no-knead bread for tomorrow. It’s DSon’s birthday tomorrow, he told DDIL he just wants to do a meal at home, he will pick up beef tenderloins and I’ll take the bread, plus an extra package of fresh green beans that I picked up but didn’t need. I expect DDIL will bake potatoes, we all like them and they are so easy. Looking forward to spending some time with them tomorrow. This weekend I think we are all going to the lake (FINALLY!).
Caryn - I guess better your wallet than your phone? I do sometimes put my phone in my back pocket at the lake, but I remember to take it out when going to use the ‘facilities’ there. Or at least I always have so far!! I know what a lot of work it is to host a big meal, so I’m thinking of you today, as I rest and recover and you are just getting started. We were sure thankful last evening not to have to summon up the energy to drive to Des Moines!! So grateful that the Illinois DB&SIL were available to come and be with DBIL last night and today. Hope to hear that all went well with the heart valve thing, I know they were to be at the hospital at 7:00 this morning. So glad to be here instead.
Allison - how odd that you and Gina couldn’t get on the thread last evening. I guess I didn’t even try. We watched the news, then ‘Call The Midwife’ followed by the new one, the one about the guy vs the post office. That one is troubling because it’s a true story of how the Post Office in England manipulated their local offices and devastated people, causing them to lose their homes and more.
Waving 👋🏼 hi to all who follow. We are under a wind advisory, so glad I’m going to be doing an in-house day today.

Peg, it's cooler again here and very disappointing as I thought it was to warm up again. I wanted to work on weeds and guess if I dress for it, I still could but instead will focus on laundry today for starters. I hope the weather improves for your weekend away and DS has a perfect birthday.
Caryn, I'd thought the same but didn't think to "warn" you about the back pocket/phone chances one takes. As you recall I did have it fall into a porta-potty! Glad it was only the wallet and it was at home at least!
I'm so tired from the go, go, go weekend! I need to get fresh hummingbird food out and should put out the grape jelly as well. They'll be arriving any day now! DGD is going to give her first try at getting herself ready then calling me when she's ready to be picked up Wednesday. I think DSIL will wake her before he leaves for work, then she'll be on her own to get herself ready. Thursday they want to shop for a new refrigerator for the basement (scratch and dent) so DGD will hang out with me after school. Refrigerator shopping would be classified as "boring"! Well, it is actually...
We had such a fun time with DS/DDIL yesterday and I can't say (probably repeating) how proud I am of how he's turned his health issues around! He's down 25# and nearly ready to stop the diabetes meds and has found his liver issues (whatever they were) have reversed and is back to normal! The doctor asked if he was doing anything else besides the Vegan change in his diet. He said nope, that was all he'd changed so the doctor said he was really happy and told him to keep doing what he's doing and they'll recheck his blood work on his next visit to see if he can stop the rest of those medications!
DH is ready to head out and I have laundry calling so will check back later.

I've decided to prep the kugel but since it cooks at 350 and I need to heat the brisket at that temp, I'll assemble it and cook the 2 together at 5:30. The chicken takes an hour and I'll start that at 4, except I'm going to make the marinade shortly. Everything else is done. We're actually ready (well except for the 3 big dishes LOL).

Caryn - I guess you are one of the "money launderers". Have a good time tonight.
Peg - Wow - quite a group for you yesterday. Glad you didn't have to go to DSM today.
Gina - Know R is chomping at the bit to get back on to the boats.
Betty - DGD has grown up so fast.
Allison - Has the rug arrived yet?
Jeanne - Good luck at the Dr.s today. Never did walk around Loews, DH didn't feel like it yesterday,
Connections with one mistake and no hints, wordle in 3, flunked waffle.
Doing sheets and need to go to PO and Krogering. Have a meatloaf out to defrost. Will make fluffy mashed potatoes and peas to go with it. A/C unit was tuned up this morning, so ready for the summer. Bring on the heat. Was in 30's this morning, but warming up in to the 60's later. I like 80's myself.
Time to change loads so will BBL.

DOldestSis texted this morning that DM's assisted living place is doing a special Mother's Day brunch and asked if I planned to fly down (DM's BDay is the next day). I looked up flights and booked flying down 5/10 and back 5/15. I'll stay at the condo and drive up for Mother's Day. Then I did 4 errands. I ended up walking with a GF - I met her partway and walked a total of 5 miles. Now it is time for lunch.
Peg - It's Mr. Bates vs. the Post Office and it is very good. It took the series for the English government to FINALLY make it right with some of the people.
Nancy - the DR rug is out for delivery and the LR rug is on its way.
Betty - laundry is always calling - lol
Jeanne - GL at the Drs appt.
hi to Gina, Luv, Sharon and Khalua.

Lunch is over - reheated from yesterday’s dinner, but it was still tasty.
DBIL is home, this was (as I suspected) a test to see how bad the heart valve was, not the procedure to actually fix the problem. I looked back on texts from DSisIL and sure enough the first of March she had texted they would do more TESTING, but then she kept saying they were going to fix it today. Not the case, she seemed surprised. Oh well, we didn’t have to drive down last night, we would have, but were so thankful we didn’t have to. He has a follow up appointment at the cardiologist on 5/09, we will go if needed, but will take our cue from DSisIL.
The wind is still strong - just looked it’s 43 mph right now. Wind always is kind of nerve wracking to me, but today I just don’t care.
Allison - GFY to fly down for Mother’s Day and your mom’s birthday. Yes, Mr. Bates and the Post Office. It’s awful what they did to all those people. I’ve thought about googling it, but kind of don’t want to spoil the series by looking ahead. Wow on your 5 miles. How often do you get new shoes? Seems like as much as you are walking you would need new ones every few months.
Nancy - thanks for the giggle about Caryn now ‘laundering money’. You and me, sister, loving the 80’s temps.
Luv - what’s up with you?
Betty - wow on your DSon, and his amazing transformation with his vegan diet. I was thinking how hard that must be in the land of great cheeses. But he’s sure making the right choices for himself. Does your DDIL eat that way also? While we had potatoes, green beans and carrots, the potatoes were scalloped with cheese & milk/cream, the beans had bacon, I guess the carrots were okay but were cooked in the meat juices from the roast. I heated the leftover roast in the gravy from the juices, and put it over 1/2 of a roll. Guess we can see why I don’t lose weight!! How grown up DGD is becoming. Seems like the grands grow up faster than our own kids did.
Off to read my book……

Rug looks fabulous Allison. How lovely to be with DM for Mother's Day! Where are you watching that series?
Nancy -hahahahaha. You "got" me teehee.
Peg - complicated about DBIL. I have similar stuff going on with DMIL except we can't be there for her appointments. She's having headaches, dizziness and blurred vision. Not a stroke. They're positing all sorts of reasons but I bet most will clear up if she gets that laser thing done for her eye. Today she went to her ophthalmologist. But still no definitive answer.
Wordle in 3 and perfect Connections without hints. Time to wake D and start cooking the chicken. I'm doing it in my microwave that converts to a convection oven so my big oven is free for the brisket and kugel. It has a warming drawer so everyone's stuff can stay warm until after the reading of the Hagaddah.

Caryn - I don’t know the proper greeting for Passover, but blessings on your day as you pause and remember.
Allison - love the rug - works perfectly under your table to protect your beautiful floors.
This might just be my perfect afternoon!! A (pretty good) book, and a silent house. Ahhhh, while I often listen to light music on the radio today I needed silence. It’s been wonderful. Got my (short) walk in, and now I’m contemplating a glass of gj. Cause, why not?
Did I tell you I also got connections? Trying to remember if it was with our without hints. I think today was without. Once I got the first one, the rest came to me too. Our actual temp got to 64* but it only feels like 40 with a 34 mph wind.

Hi! Busy day! Only walked Scruffy but working in the kitchen. Made chicken soup and have the brisket cooking.
Doc was fine. He’s good with my numbers to keep my meds the same, for now anyway.
It is a beautiful afternoon. But stayed in to cook and watch the Yankees which was a bust!
Peg - sounds like a great day yesterday. And a terrific afternoon today!
Caryn - good luck with everything tonight. You sound really organized. Sorry about the wallet!
Betty - good to hear how good DS is doing! Such great commitment!
Allison - nice you have the rug! And your plans for Mother’s Day!

Allison, the rug looks perfect! Well done. Perfect to be able to join DM for Mother's Day and her Birthday!
Caryn, your oven sounds amazing. I'd love a smaller oven and a larger one just to avoid using extra energy if I don't have something large to make, or a convection microwave maybe? Silly me, I can't even get the room painted not to mention changing out appliances but since there's nothing wrong with them, we'll save the energy looking! LOL
Peg, yikes on that wind! I'm glad you didn't have to go anywhere and instead were able to have the perfect indoor day. I saw that show and wanted to watch it, maybe tomorrow? I just told DH about it so if he isn't busy tomorrow, we could get an episode watched a day until we catch up maybe. We should be able to watch it on PBS as subscribers I think. As for DDIL, no she's not doing the Vegan but trying Vegetarian though she isn't doing as well as he is. He's managed to find vegan egg products, cheese, you name it! There are products out there but you have to find them and do a lot of label reading! I brought them a couple of gifts from Nashville but found 2 of the 3, he couldn't have - drats, and I thought they would work. At least he can have the coffee I'd found!
RV, I just love your quick wit! You and Gina are a couple of the best with those kinds of things.
J, oh the brisket sounds delicious!
We settled on the bacon wrapped pork chops with twice baked potatoes DH won in the raffle. I did the chops in the air fryer and were they ever moist, tender and good! I just seasoned them with S&P, garlic powder and paprika (from a recipe I found on-line). DH did a couple of errands locally and worked on his painting of the DNeighbor's house he will give to her. It's hard because he isn't painting it as the picture depicts so it's "off" a bit but he has time to work at it to "get it right", hopefully. I spent the day working on laundry and decided to finish setting up the T-Mobile internet to work in the garage as well but found I'd need a booster (we did for the Spectrum account also, so no surprise). I found and ordered what they said we'd need to use, then called to disconnect the Spectrum service. Surprisingly, I found their speeds are much faster (supposedly) and since we'd been customers for nearly 30 years, they said they could offer us reduced rate from $79.99/mo to $39.99/mo for the next two years! Now, that's less than the internet at home from T-Mobile so agreed to keep it, at least for the next 2 years. DH was very happy with that outcome and I reversed everything back to the Spectrum settings again. We'll see if we can return the other unit to Spectrum but will definitely cancel that one out! That call will need to be done tomorrow.
I'm beat so calling it for the night.

Lazy afternoon after a busy morning. I am very happy with the rug - we were able to get it laid down easier than I though we would. And it gives more coverage than I thought it would. The LR rug is scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday. I received an email this afternoon that one of the gals who played mah jonng last night tested positive for Covid today - she thought her symptoms were her allergies - oh well. I will wear a mask when I vote tomorrow. Dr/BFF said there is no standard time to test once exposed - she suggested to see if I develop any symptoms. The internet suggests testing at 5 days from exposure. I have a dinner tomorrow night and still plan on attending. I also will probably test myself Thursday morning before going for my annual gyn appointment. Phillies won their 7th in a row.
Betty - good deal on the Internet! Just goes to show how much they are making if they are willing to cut your monthly rate in half...
Got a perfect Waffle tonight. Time to finish solitaire and then read.

Morning all, much warmer start to the day. Already at 54º, overcast so it doesn’t seem as warm, but I’ll take the warmer temps for sure. Have the no-knead bread on its final rise, will put it in the oven about 10:00. I did split it into two loaves, with only the 4 of us we don’t need so much bread. It will be good on the grill.
Have wished our DSon a happy birthday, both in a text and in a phone call. The first call was very short! Then he called back to say the guys were all standing around during my call. He was on his way to a job so had some time to chat, we will see him after he gets off work this afternoon. He’s 53 today, how can that be, when I was 53, 20 minutes ago?!? He bought bacon wrapped beef filets for the grill, I have the fresh bread, fresh green beans and DDIL made him Caesar salad dressing from scratch, but she didn’t have any anchovies, he does the grocery shopping, and forgot to look for them! We will eat well this evening. On that note, we won’t need much for lunch today. In fact, I may even skip lunch! We’ll see, I haven’t even had breakfast yet!
Nancy - oh, to sit in the sun sounds wonderful. If there’s no wind, the 60’s can be pleasant in the sunshine.
Luv - oh wonderful!! A little guy to join his big sis. Awesome. That’s a lot of grocery shopping!!
Allison - OMGosh, on the person testing positive. Covid seems it’s never going to completely go away, we have to learn how to live with it. Hope you don’t get symptoms. Do you ever really ‘finish’ solitaire? LOL
Betty - wow on the great day, makes me wonder what we’re missing as we pay a lot for our internet and tv, plus landline, but that’s the cheap part of the bill. I do appreciate my toaster oven, which I use for everything from pizza to our pot pies and baked potatoes, and so much more. I love it. It also makes great toast!! I looked at Mr. Bates vs the Post Office and it seems there are only four episodes. And it’s very current as some of the repercussions are still happening in 2024. Yes, as a subscriber you should be able to go back and see those first two episodes.
Jeanne - glad to see the doc visit was fine and you don’t need any changes to your meds.
Caryn - hope all went well last evening. Yum to it all.
Time for me to get some breakfast and then get dressed and figure out what I can accomplish today. TTFN
