Good morning! Started cold but now 54 and sunny. Scruffy and I had our “walk”. Mostly standing around waiting for him to decide what direction he wanted to go. Aah, the things you do for a beloved geezer dog!
Luv - great to hear!
Allison - glad you like how the rugs fit in.
Peg - happy birth day to you and your DS! It’s shocking how quickly time flies!
I found a bin of old tshirts from concerts and trips, one concert from 1978! Which had my DSis ask about photos of our cross country trip in 1989. I found a bin filled hundreds of photos from decades ago! Great trips and celebrations. DH loved the bikini photo I found. I was shocked seeing these photos after so long! Was I really that young? And why didn’t I like these photos then? I liked them much better now!
Anyway, I still have to figure out what to do with them! I threw out a bunch of really lousy ones and will have to organize them to scan.

Good morning. I was up several times last night with leg cramps and am truly exhausted today. And we have Seder #2 tonight - Sue, Peter and her DD and DD's spouse are coming to eat leftovers from both our homes. 6 people as opposed to 14.
The funniest thing happened last night. As part of the Seder you leave your door open so that the prophet Elijah can enter (you also have a cup of wine on the table for him). As we got to that part, two people walked into our house and announced themselves! D hugged them (why I don't know) . They said, you are Caryn, right? and I'm "do I know you?" Tuns out they were going to our nextdoor neighbors Karen and Richard who I presume they don't know or they would know I'm not them. Boy did we all have a good laugh.
Also when I took the brisket out of the oven, I spilled a ton of the liquid all over the oven, the rug, the cabinets - and then Oscar (who was here) decided it was delicious. We had to clean that up too. I also spilled other stuff. I was very clumsy last night hahaha. This morning the kitchen rugs (Ruggables) went into the washer and dryer and now look very clean on our newly vacuumed floor. I've done 2 dishwashes and have one more to go. Then I'll set the dining room table for tonight. And we start all over again.
Lori- mazel tov! How wonderful to have 2 grandbabies!
Will post this and see who came while I stepped away for about 20 minutes.

Jeanne - how fun to go through old memories. I know someone (someone who sews) who made a quilt out of those concert t-shirts.
Peg - happy "birth" day to you.

Caryn - what a funny story! Wow, on the timing!
I think that’s why I saved the shirts, thinking about making one of those quilts, but then never did. Typical me! I sent photos to my DSis of 2 of the shirts and her daughter wanted one of them - of all things the worlds largest McDonald’s in Oklahoma. The other one from a camp ground in Maine and knew my other niece would love it - she was very young g when we had a family trip there. Well, she was over the moon for it. She sent me a photo of her in it.

I finally have some time to post beautiful weather has been beautiful the last few days we had one day of rain, but it’s cold. Going to go for a walk later. I’m just enjoying my coffee. My daughter had an espresso machine she’s not using so I’m using it. I like it works great for me. I like iced coffee so it’s. Humphrey is here with me enjoying the couch. Want to eat the cat food but I close the garage so I couldn’t.
Allison was it you who bought the new balance, athletic shoes? I had two pairs sent to me same thing almost at mine was on the inner ankle. They just rubbed. They were comfortable otherwise, but I couldn’t keep them.
Peg your son is a very handsome young man just a baby 53. You have a brother that’s my age that you said last week the one that’s turning 70 in May that old! lol i’ll stay I think I’ll stay 69! Sounds like you’ll have a nice dinner with everyone!
Caryn that is so funny the people walking in to your house…even funnier dh hugged them! Sorry about the spill what a pain yay for washable rugs. Sorry you had a bad night!
Jeanne it’s shocking to see how young we once were. I was thin and always thought I was fat oh to be that fat again. Lol

Luv - ya gotta love a name like that!!!
Peg - You have one good looking son there. Have a fun party tonight. Food sounds yummy to me.
Caryn - Love the walk-in company - how funny. Not fun cleaning up spills like that. Take it easy today.
Jeanne - I see old pix of me and wonder - was that really me. Unruly curly hair. This was all before hair dryers. I used scotch tape on my bangs.
Allison - So glad you will see your Mom on both Mother's Day and her birthday. Her apt. looks nice and cozy.
Betty - You're quiet today.
Starting to gather stuff for a yard sale sometime this summer and also tossing quite a bit of useless stuff.
Better shower and get a move on. Flunked wordle today, connections with 1 error,no help, and waffle with 5 let over.

Back from the mall since the breeze was chilly. Watering the front garden now then lunch.

Luv - how fun to have Humphrey lazing about! He’s such a great dog. I’m so glad they / you kept him. When I saw that guys’name I had to laugh too, poor guy, must have been teased relentlessly- and maybe still is? The thing I like about reading a book on my tablet is putting my finger on a word I’m not sure about and getting the meaning. But I do know about ennui.
Oh my, I just checked back and see this didn’t get posted. Don’t remember what else I was going to say, but here’s this much.

After voting DH & I went out for coffee and played Mille Bourne cards. It has warmed up and I will take a walk after lunch (salad).
Caryn - lol at the timing AND the name. Gotta love the Ruggables for how easy they are to wash/dry and still look great.
Luv - yup, it was me returning the New Balance sneakers.
Nancy - I will be seeing DM on Mother's Day and we will celebrate her birthday a day early.
Jeanne - so cool you found the old photos. Once you get them organized you should consider making a book on Shutterfly or Kodak.
hi to Peg, Sharon, Gina and Betty.

We had a marvelous time last night. DFDIL's parents hosted 14 people, there was so much food! Lots of singing, which we never did as none of us can sing. We didn’t get back to our hotel until almost midnight.
Today we'll get to see their ranch about an hour south of San Jose. Then DS will host us for dinner. Wednesday we drive home.
Happy Passover to all who celebrate
Funny names? I've known the following people...Thomas Wackerman, Richard Dicks, Brad Schmukler. I know all were teased. I was sitting in my dentist's office with my teenage son, when the receptionist made a phone call and quickly asked "is Mike Hunt there?" He looked at me and I had to give him a death stare...don't you dare giggle.
Will do personals when I am back on my computer...

I had a client whose wife was - and I'm not kidding - Bitsy Dick LOLOL.
Got my hearing aids adjusted. I hope this does the trick. If not they'll send them back to the manufacturer for fixing. Got a few things in Costco while there - milk, eggs, prunes (essential during Passover since matzo is binding) and a nice hydrangea for my back yard.
I'm nearly ready for tonight's seder. Have been taking it easy. No cooking today - just warming up stuff.
Gina - how wonderful for you all!! I'm happy. You know I'm fortunate with DSIL1's DM - she's fabulous. DSIL2's DM is "okay" but I'll never be good friends with her. We'll make nice for our kid.
Allison - I forgot that PA has its primary today. Ours is in August.
I almost flunked Wordle. I had the last 4 letters but kept mis-guessing the first. Finally got it on my last try. Perfect Connections but the purple and the blue took me a while. I was stubborn and didn't want to get hints.
Back to the couch. It's time for French practice. I've decided to keep it up since it's fun and free so why not? Eventually I'll try to learn Spanish but not until I've gone through every level of French.

Back from a 4.6 mile walk - it is really nice out. I have an accounting dinner tonight (with the mandatory 2 hour Ethics topic). I do not need the CPEs but like to see the members of the chapter.
Caryn - I too am blessed with both sons having good in-laws that we get along with.
Gina - I had to say that name aloud before I "got it"...

Names - so much fun! We had a sales rep who’s name was Carroll Darling - which would have been fine except my boss’ name was also Carroll (both male BTW), so I would have to tell ‘my’ Carroll - pause - Darling with so&so was on the phone. Couldn’t look in his office and say ‘Carroll Darling’ too quickly! He would have known, and I knew, but if anyone else was around it took some finesse in how to say who it was. <good times>

Well all those names were certainly entertaining! I guess I'd have turned, I Peg's instance, to saying "Mr Darling of ___ is on the phone for you". Some of those would have been quite the challenge to say with a straight face and then the dentist situation with Gina and DS? Impossible!
I had a fairly quiet day as Peg's winds made it to us today so I did a load of throws, made a loaf of oatmeal bread with molasses and honey, ran a load of dishes, emptied and started loading again after making a spread of ham salad for DH should he get called to head into the fields but he said DTBIL said the ground isn't drying out as well in the untilled fields. BTW, we learned today DNephew who left his family for another gal has a appointment tomorrow to file for divorce. The DGF is planning to purchase a home here, selling hers in Maine. He's been living with her in an apartment she's had rented here in town while they decided if she would decide to stay here or return to Maine.
Tomorrow DGD will wake to her own alarm (which I knew what time it's set for) and is to get herself dressed and readied before she calls to let me know she's ready for me to pick her up. She did say she plans to come here for awhile before going to school though so I think I'll get up about the same time to relax with coffee until she calls. After school, I'll pick her up from the bus as well and she'll hang out with me while her parents shop for a new refrigerator since DSD wants to watch DNiece's DD run track on Thursday after school so they had to change their plans a bit. It's a good thing I don't make many plans!
Luv, how exciting to know you will have a granddaughter and a grandson!
Peg, happy birthday to DS! Enjoy celebrating with dinner at their place. I suspect the kitchen did get totally finished?
Caryn, sorry you had the clumsies yesterday. How nice to just pick up those runs and toss them in the washer. I hope you had a bit of rest today before the next round for dinner! I can't imagine the confusion when the couple walked through the door and DH gave them a hug then found they were at the wrong house! That will be a story for years to come!
Allison, I hope the second rug works out as well for the living room. At least you already knew what you were getting from the one in Florida so it should be perfect as well.
I think I've decided on a softer white for the kitchen walls, maybe with a brown or gray undertone to it. I'd been waiting for DH to decide what to do with the flooring and/or countertops but have told him if he ever decides, we'll deal with the walls again at that time if needed but the color should go with nearly anything and will go well with the cabinets and those won't change. He just said if we have some rainy days coming, we could do a wall at a time and work our way around, moving things and putting them back as we go. I'm thinking this may happen soon and I couldn't be happier!
Time to clean up from dinner, prep the coffee and call it a day, once again.

Wonderful evening with DSon & DDIL. The beef filets he grilled were fabulous (DDIL & I shared one) also baked potatoes, green beans, and Caesar salad, with the toasted bread. And some prosecco. Nice evening for sure.
I hope some of you have been able to see the full moon tonight. It’s amazing!!! Looks SO BIG. We were able to see it rising as we drove home, and it was, in fact, pink as it came up. Just awe inspiring. So glad I was out there to see it.
DH is talking a new car. He’s never really liked this one, and has been ready to trade for years, but now he’s getting more vocal about it. <sigh> I love my Volvo. But it will soon be 10 years old, and has over 100K miles. Of course his pick up is even older, an ‘04, but he doesn’t drive it much anymore. So he’s happy to keep it and for me to get a new car.
That’s what’s been happening in my world.

Caryn - so glad you had a good evening.

I'm the first to arrive this morning? DGD did so well this morning. She said it was strange having only herself there so she talked to her cat. She ticked off everything she needed to do then went silly and cleaned the bathroom sink, wiped down the toilet and put fresh towels out, tossing the dirty ones and her clothes down the chute for the laundry. She then took pictures of the bathroom and sent them to her dad. I'm sure he was oh so proud of her! He then sent a copy of her message to me so I could see what she'd done. So cute and growing up too quickly but just glad I'm here to watch the transformation.
She messaged me that she was ready to be picked up but I didn't hear it come through so after a couple of minutes, she just called me. Smart move! I've set up a new notification sound so I hope it works next time. I'll have her try it before she heads out today. Nearly time to leave for school. BBL

Morning all, cool but no wind. DBIL called about 7:00, very unusual. Their bro & SIL from Illinois are still with him, but the Sis-In-Law had to be taken to the ER last night when she couldn’t get her breath. This is not the first time this has happened. All those cigarettes for all those years, have taken a toll on her lungs and she is paying a huge price for them.
I have texted with ILL BIL and offered to come if we can help in any way. I feel like we should go just so I know they are eating. I know when they got back from the hospital on Monday that the ILL BIL went out for pizza for them. Good grief!! There is a grocery store not far from local BIL, as well as a Palmer’s deli, where they could pick up soups and sandwiches. But pizza? While I do love it, it doesn’t feel like the right thing for heart patients.
Betty - good morning. DGD did well this morning, I love that she cleaned up the bathroom and talked to the cat. I’m sure her dad and mom must both be very proud, but you should be too, you have been there for her since the beginning, teaching her skills along the way. Text messages can sometimes be iffy. Glad she thought to follow up with an actual call. To your question about their kitchen, yes it’s been done for awhile now, still kind of shocking to walk in and see it as it is now. But it’s a great space and they love it. The new floors are awesome. Oh, and she ordered new rugs for the living room and right inside their front door, and yes, they are both matching ruggables. She showed me the photo of how you can choose a rug and drop it right into your space, so cool.
Allison - not only heated seats, maybe a heated steering wheel too? We do love our heated seats.
I posted late yesterday, so off to get some breakfast and sort laundry, I put it off and here we are on Wednesday, so time to get on it. I’m still thinking about going to Des Moines too, doubt that DH will want to do that, we’ll see.

Good morning. Cleaning up after Seder #2. So glad we can now get the house back in order. I do need to wash the kitchen towels and the tablecloths, but that's not much. It's drizzling out so my walk was short. I'll do a gentle workout today to give my body a break. Nothing else to do today so there's no pressure. I need a day off.
Peg - It's hard to worry long-ish distance over relatives with long term medical issues. I feel the same with D's family up in Toronto, including DMIL who is starting to complain of this and that (at age 87).
Betty - DGD is really growing up! Can she come and clean my bathroom too LOL?
I am virtually brain dead so not much to share. I'll BBL once I feel more alert and my legs feel less tired.

Caryn, ahhhh, a normal day for you! I'll do a bit of laundry with you, just so you have some company, haha! I'll have to check DGD's schedule to see if she can work in your bathroom cleaning too (wink).
Allison, today's the day! Now that the floors are done and you have everything all cleaned nicely with new rugs, you may want to rethink selling your place though I suspect you aren't planning on doing so soon anyway with DFIL/DMIL's house to tend to yet as well. Have you even started looking at all? It's always fun to see what's out there in whatever area you think you might want to be in.
Peg, glad you had a nice time at DS's and yes, that must be a shock walking into that amazing new space. It is quite shocking, it seems overnight DGD has grown into becoming so responsible that I really don't have to do anything for her anymore! She helps herself to whatever she wants to have for her "second breakfast", watches the clock for when we need to leave for school, etc. I know I always did more around the house if my parents weren't there - kind of like pretending I was an adult and it was all mine! As she said though, no one to talk to but myself. LOL The one thing she messed up on was not grabbing a coat! She had a sweatshirt on and said she'd be fine so I let her go without going back to grab a jacket so if she's a bit chillier today, it's a good lesson she won't forget. This is sometimes how we learn these things. Oh a new car?! It's hard to believe you already have that many miles on it. I remember when you got it, seems like yesterday! Some would say, it's just broken in but with our age and health plus having to help with DBIL and trips to the camper, the miles add up and need something we can depend on without worry. I love my heated seats and steering wheel. It was on this morning and felt mighty nice!
I only have my RSV vaccination scheduled today at 11:30 just uptown so glad I can check that one off. My doctor thought it would be important and recommended it so I guess I'll follow through. Oh, DH learned my former neighbor's wife has pancreatic cancer! She's younger than me and her DD spent much time across the back yard at my place with DS becoming like a brother to her. I knew she had some heart issues a couple of years ago but now this? Her DH has also had heart issues with a few stents put in. Then there's one of Susan's DFs who just learned her DH has some type of cancer which is inoperable! It seems it's everywhere and affecting too many. My DS said he had just checked the funeral home website the other day and was surprised at how many he knew and some younger than him. It sometimes makes me wonder for such a small town, why so many cases and affecting so many we know so well.
It will be rainy all weekend so I think tomorrow will be yard mowing and trimming so we can hopefully get the kitchen painted over the weekend. That's the plan anyway, if I can settle for sure on a color. I think I'll get just a quart to start with to be sure I'll be happy with the color before going all in!
Now I'm rambling so best get up and get moving. I'm picking DGD up from the bus this afternoon so better have my act together by then (thinking getting some trimming and/or weeding done in my spare time today as well).

DBIL (ILL) called to say DSisIL was released and they were back to local DBIL’s. They hope she feels well enough to manage the 5 hour trip home. ILL DBIL has three appointments tomorrow. Guess they have more health issues than we knew about. She has a virus, but not pneumonia, so that’s a blessing, that we have a diagnosis and she’s doing better after her treatments. Now to hope she didn’t pass it on to local DBIL.
I’m hardboiling some eggs and plan to make salads for our lunch today. I am just out of ideas for meals right now. I need more variety than DH, and while I had the leftovers from Sunday they are nearly all gone. Oh well, first world problem, for sure.
Betty - I expect DH will mow tomorrow, Friday it’s supposed to rain. It’s a pretty day out there today. Iowa has one of the highest cancer rates - if not THE highest in the country. All the chemicals in the air? Who knows? I know while our legislatures were focused on what the kids learn in history, and managing to decimate the AEA, (area education agency) which has helped our public schools for over 50 years, but now they are taking the $$ away from them, and of course now our public tax $$ go to private schools, our lakes and streams and terrible, they are building too many huge animal lots / facilities near what used to be protected streams and rivers, and they are doing NOTHING to help clean up and protect our environment. What a mess our world is in. <oops> stepping off my seat box….
Caryn - I have done very little for two days, so now the washer and dryer are both going. I do have bookclub today, but we have a presenter on ‘why they want to remove Huck Finn from our libraries.’ THAT should be interesting!! And I know some will agree with it being removed.
Anyway, enough of that, my eggs are done, need to cool them.

Good morning all. We were about to try to clear the washer pipe when the rug arrived. It is now down and looks great. Photo to follow. Other chores for today are to wash the outside of the living room windows and take a walk later.
Betty - yup, rug is down. Not ready to sell just yet. DH says we need to take a few days in the fall to look around Pittsburgh to see what is out there for us.
Caryn - sun is out here and will be in the high 60's.
